my advice for not going insane? try to do something every weekend. go to events, you’ll love events. and not like just hang out with ur friends or go clubbing , no, make a day out of going to some local market by yourself or attend some strange convention event you’ve never heard of. i cannot stress the importance of doing random events on a friday night or saturday or a sunday at r pm for mentally ill people especially if you’re depressed and have been searching for an anchor 2 tether yourself to. attend some events now

Making your own website is cool and fun! And you can link to your friends' websites, or other cool shit online you find. And you can post swears or adult content and no one can stop you (except your host I guess, but they usually don't care). And hosting is often very cheap or free (if you use something like neocities or GitHub pages).

A quick badge design I did to celebrate the successful return of samples from asteroid Bennu, and the beginning of the OSIRIS-APEX mission!

For context, after OSIRIS-REx dropped the samples off, it was renamed and has now begun a new mission to explore a new hazardous asteroid, the infamous asteroid Apophis!

This badge celebrates the shift from investigating the ways asteroids may seed life, to how they can threaten it.

Whenever I find myself using public transport, I find myself able to amuse myself with just the sounds they make as they move along.

Just think of the bus. It moves across the street, humming as it rolls across the road, hissing at it comes to a stop like it's breathing. Lowering itself down to allow the other beings to climb onto it.

When you look up from really high, everything becomes little distant specks. Like ants scurrying from their home to their food or what have you.

And when everything is made of the same matter, the same carbon and the same iron, what separates us from the vehicle? Mind? Thought? Does the contraption dream too? I have no way of knowing as of now.

We thank the driver, but when we do so, we might as well thank the bus itself. It works like us, brings us places. Allows us to live. Wordlessly nurtures us.

Machinery is a form of living being too and I find it most prominent in the bus. So thank you to whoever invented public transport. You gave us a beast, a beautiful one, one worthy of all of my admiration and praise.

And sorry if this feels like the ramblings of an insane person but you asked for my words and on god you have been GIVEN them. Have a good one. My stop is coming up

Puppy Affirmations

Every time I feel weak and useless and broken and ruined and abnormal and a failure because I’m chronically ill/disabled/crippled/mentally ill/depressed/anxious/trans/non-binary/queer/fatigued/overweight/”not pretty enough”/”too old” or whatever… 

I try to remember to see myself NOT as a failed adult human, but as a puppy who’s doing their best. And I give myself the compassion I would give a puppy. I wouldn’t hate a puppy for needing a nap or being unable to carry two bags of groceries home. I wouldn’t force a puppy to write perfectly beautiful calligraphy or try to teach it to paint photorealistic oil paintings. 

Puppies need love and support!

I’ll never know what it feels like to be a pilot disconnected from their neurally linked mecha. The overwhelming sensation and intoxicating power that comes with being a 40 ft tall war machine capable of wanton destruction, followed by the belittling feeling of being separated and being back in your pathetic little flesh form. I will never understand how it feels, but I know what it feels like to go from a 3 monitor setup to a measly single monitor and I imagine it’s basically the same
