[ID: A digital painting of Jonathan Sims standing in water. He is a thin brown man with long hair wearing an open robe, and he's submerged to his chest in water and surrounded by lotuses. He also wears a pink flower crown. Both images are of the same art, but the first is red-toned, making it feel murkier, and slim eyes open along Jon's face. End ID] ID credit: @princess-of-purple-prose

Tybalt from William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet (1996). Drawn on my iPad with Procreate.
I miss studying abroad
love reading about pets from ancient rome because sometimes you find a sweet little poem an ancient roman had commissioned for their dog, and sometimes you find out that emperor caracalla had a pet lion that he snuggled with in bed
Modern Hamlet character designs. I love them far too much. 😭
what she says: I’m fine
what she means: tybalt capulet is just as complex as the other teenagers in the play. there’s so much hidden history to unpack regarding him and his family, and all of it brings new depth to his character. for example, why does he live with his aunt and uncle as opposed to his immediate family? why is he constantly, fervently seeking to protect the capulet name like he’s trying to prove something to someone? and also, why is he treated the way he is by lord capulet? they only interact a few times, and when they do, it’s very charged and not at all familial. why is that? there are so many approaches you could take to tybalt’s character, but so many adaptions resort to making him a clear-cut villain, which ultimately undermines the message of the play by implying that there are “good” and “bad” sides to the feud, when in reality it was a pointless fight between two groups of adults that their children got mixed up in for no reason at all. tybalt is just as much of a mf victim as romeo and juliet, and adaptions need to start realizing this
Just wanted to share this adorable picture. I love it so much!

[Multiple people have pointed out that the Sojourner Truth speech isn’t accurate. Interesting none of you bother recommending other resources to spread awareness of what it’s like to be a Black Woman while you are pulling attention away from the main point–Black Women need to be recognized. If you have such a problem with how accurate the speech is, just know I looked into it and apparently she approved the second version which also expresses how she’s feeling. Let’s move on or pm me and I can list some alternatives if it’s weighing on your mind.]
Sometimes I get really weird kinds of gender dysphoria/euphoria like:
My ass looks way too good for a man :/
My makeup is fucked up :)
