“What do you put in your breakfast sandwich?” Well it was polite to ask follow up questions, show interest in what someone else was saying, at least that’s what her thirty three years on the planet told her. Even if she herself was set in her ways when it came to her own bagel choices. Cream cheese, onion, tomatoes, avocado, and capers on an everything bagel. Perfection. “The pumpernickel? It was very good. Didn’t keep very well. I had some the first day I got it but by the time I went to have some the next day it was sadly a bit dry.” @infragilehearts

——- Biting her lower lip ever so slightly as she listened to the other, giving a nod before offering a rather friendly smile. ❝  i actually enjoy pumpernickel and bagels are my weakness. i make this nice breakfast sandwich with them that's — everything ! ❞ valerie explain sounding a bit giddy as she was so proud of her cooking skills after all. ❝  so — how was the pumpernickel bread ? ❞ she asked curiously even if she already planned to buy some along with bagels — of course.

Julia could tell the woman was on edge, which wasn’t unusual because they so often were when it came to their babies, but that meant she had to put in extra effort to keep these anxieties at bay. Sitting down on the stool by the desk she used her feet to walk it over towards Neva, nodding understandingly while she spoke. “Being scared is totally natural, as is being tired, so I just want to reassure you about that first off. If I had a cent for every soon to be mother that came in saying that I’d be a very rich woman.” Joking lightly, not expecting the question about the wine but not letting that show on her face. “Potentially, it’s entirely possible that a glass of wine wouldn’t do any harm. Explain to me more in what ways you haven’t been feeling very well, I just want to make sure it’s not something that would be exacerbated with the introduction of alcohol.” She could just look at the chart but she wanted to make sure she didn’t miss anything, or if she did, that she consulted the woman’s OBGYN. @bjorkn

𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐀 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐓𝐈𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 regretted going on this appointment alone. She was so used to having Ryan by her side in every consultation, but this wasn't one of their routine check-ups. Karma, for not telling him she was seeing a doctor. Fucking hell. On the other hand, she knew he would be so worried… She greeted the doctor by giving a friendly and delicate handshake before taking a seat across from her and putting her purse on her lap. ❛ Yes, that's correct. ❜ The blonde sighs deeply. ❛ I feel very tired and scared. I mean, I'm not sure if I want my babies to be born, because I'm scared of the pain. But I'm not feeling very well lately. And I want to ask, hypothetically, can I have a sip of wine? This whole thing of not drinking… It's driving me nuts. It is just a sip to kill my craving. ❜

Julia was just catching up on some paperwork at the nurses station - for once things had quietened down a bit (famous last words) so she could take a breather. Her coffee sat next to her forgotten as it so often was because despite being incredibly smart when it came to her own self care she had the memory of a goldfish. Tucking some hair behind her left ear she initialed a box when she felt a tap on her shoulder, looking up with the expectation of seeing an intern or nurse who needed something, but instead she was faced with a woman she’d never seen before. 

About to ask if she was looking for a patient it soon became clear that wasn’t there reason for being here, listening to the request with a small smile. “Oh, how sweet. No, of course I’d be happy to help. I actually think it would lift quite a few kids spirits to have someone come in and help distract them for a bit. Not that I’m diminishing your tutoring to just a distraction, but you know what I mean. Often the older ones end up actually missing being at school.” She looked back down at the pamphlets again. “Tell me more, do you do all ages?” @callmecharliejones

The hospital wasn't Charlie's favorite place. Well, she supposed it wasn't anyone's favorite place but Danny had sad it would be a good idea to put up pamphlets in the pediatric ward of the hospital he worked at and Danny was full of brilliant ideas, so with shaky hands and a deep breath, she headed inside and as she saw a woman in a white coat, she came over to tap her shoulder.

"Hi, I'm so sorry to bother you. I promise I won't take long." She started. "My friend Daniel works here, he said I could put some pamphlets up. I'm a teacher. I'm looking for some kids to tutor." She handed her one of the handmade and photocopied pamphlets she made herself, with silly drawings, flowers, stars, hearts, a few bunnies here and there and her contact number. "Could you help me? If you are not too busy of course. I'm sure you have a million kiddos to see. I don't want to be an imposition. I can wait for your break as well, or come some other time."

“Sounds delicious, which spices do you go for?” Julia asked as the two of them both took a step forward with the movement of the line, readjusting her bag on her shoulder. Her own ability to cook was subpar to say the least - mainly because she just didn’t have time. Between hospital shifts she was either trying to catch up on sleep, doing extra research for her cases, or (very) occasionally seeing the few friends she had remaining in the city. Or at least the few that she’d made aware she was back again, keeping the return under wraps for her own wellbeing honestly. “Yes, it sounds like maybe you need to do some kind of brunch with your friends in order to give it the proper appreciation.” That was something people did still, right? Brunches at the weekend? She hadn’t been to one in years. @infragilehearts

——- With a prideful smile on her face, clasping her hands together. ❝  i have a couple different ones actually — but one i usually make for others is a standard breakfast bagel. it has eggs, ham, bacon, sausage, cheese and a pinch of different spices. ❞ valerie's other recipe was something she only made for people close to her or herself. the other she'd made during different culinary jobs so why not share as it was out there already. ❝  i'm glad to hear it. i'll just have to use it for a few friends then so it has a good first day usage. ❞ she said with a smirk across her lips, always enjoying sharing her cooking creations with others.

“Wind farm I think, it would be weird for there to be a lighthouse that far out but then again the reason for it would be because the rocks were hard to see, so I’d hardly be able to spot them from over here.” The dark haired girl responded, mirroring the move to rest on her own elbows once she’d finally sat down. “Mmm…maybe. What are you thinking of getting? Part of me is wondering if maybe a shaved ice would be better, kind of like a drink and a snack at the same time.” @tctteredwings

Ana nodded in response to what Julia was saying, trying to follow the other's line and sight, her eyes narrowing very slightly. "What conclusion did you come to?" she questioned thoughtfully, having absolutely no idea herself as she stared off into the distance. After several moments of this, she let a soft sign go, and then leant back on her elbows, closing her eyes for a second or two before she spoke again. "Did you want some ice-cream? I'm thinking of going to get some maybe..."

Truth was Julia had seen a lot in her career as a doctor and an expectant mother wanting to have a drink after being deprived for almost nine months was hardly the most shocking. In fact it was probably far more common than the blonde in front of her realised, but her attention had been entirely swayed towards something else. The mention of symptoms that could contribute to something more serious. “I’m so sorry to hear about your first trimester struggles, do you feel you’ve managed to find coping mechanisms for that? If not I’d be happy to refer you to one of our wonderful members of the mental health team here. You just let me know.” A soft smile before turning back to the iPad and scribbling down a quick note with the apple pen. “Unplanned things can often be stressful, having children is a huge undertaking so there is no shame in taking a while to get your head around that fact. There is no judgment in the room, so please feel free to say what you need to, everything stays between us.” Offering an encouraging smile because you never know what a patient might say that could be related to their condition even in a way they didn’t expect to be relevant. Her eyebrows rose slightly the next time Neva spoke, not because of the answer to the issues she was having because truthfully she’d expected that, but no it was more because of her statement that she planned to have her babies in Sweden - meaning a long flight would be involved. “You have a transatlantic trip planned prior to your babies being born? Due to the things you’ve told me in the last ten minutes I really must advise that that’s a bad idea. I want to get some tests run on you for pre-eclampsia and if they come back conclusive we’re going to need to think about putting you on bed rest. A long flight could be catastrophic, the list of risks are extensive.” Her look of concern was genuine as she tapped a couple of buttons that would register Neva for the appropriate tests that needed to be done to confirm or deny what she suspected. Although Julia was pretty sure - this was arguably textbook. “I would be remiss if I didn’t urge you to consider changing your trip until after the twins are born.”  @bjorkncaddel

𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐀 𝐖𝐀𝐒 hesitated in answering some of the questions, which explains why she had a second or two to respond to them. She feels utterly bad for not having her husband by her side in this impromptu appointment. She did not want him to think she wanted to hurt their babies by sipping an alcoholic beverage. On the other hand, the Swedish is a lot overthinker, maybe she was worrying too much when she shouldn't. This is why she is here, to consult and ask for professional guidance. The blonde did not trust Google and didn't want to read about pregnancy in books, because she knew both sources would stress her out. ❛ I was advised to not be too active. My activities were radical. I did a few others that I was capable of doing. 'Soft' activities. Besides my first trimester was stressful for me, I didn't want them, and I was in a deep depression. ❜ The phrase sounded kind of bad, but she corrected it. ❛ I didn't want them now. I don't like unplanned things. It gives me a lot of stress. And I would like to this be our secret. My husband would be sad to hear it. ❜ In truth, she didn't want to have them at the moment, but her husband was so happy, and she knew what his desires were, and the thought that she was just like her mother haunted her mind, the fact she didn't want them. As she grew further with the pregnancy, she learned to like them. This was the first time she admitted it out and loud for a doctor. Maybe deep down, Ryan knew or kind of suspected it. This is a topic she would never bring to him, nor she reckons he would never bring to her. ⎯ Neva rested her back on the chair, and she thought she couldn't omit information forever. Her gaze dropped to her wedding ring, where she continued toying anxiously. ❛ Yes, yes, and yes to the majority of all the things that you said. I want you to know, that my babies will be born in Sweden, so I have a trip planned. ❜

Julia looked at the woman in front of her, face passive of course because she was a trained professional who knew how to mask her true feelings like a pro, but she was concerned she didn’t seem to be understanding the level of disruption having kids caused. Let alone twins, aka two newborns at the same time. Not to mention the effect it would have on her hormones and mental stability, both of which came under duress. Plus she was being worryingly blasé about traveling a long way while so heavily pregnant - the whole thing made Julia incredibly uneasy. “You don’t have a doctor over there yet?” So they were travelling thousands of miles without even having medical care in place when they got to the other end? Good lord. “Excuse my honesty Mrs Caddel but if you don’t have a doctor in place yet in Stockholm then it seems like nothing is settled at all. Without a professional at the other end of the flight to properly head up your care the situation just increases in its danger to both you and the children.” 

Julia knew there were some patients you just couldn’t make do what was best, all you could do as a doctor was provide them with the information they needed and hope they heeded your advice. Nodding her head she gave her a small smile. "That would be my professional opinion - yes. Travelling at this late point, on such a long flight, with no doctor at the other end who is well versed on your medical history? It is incredibly unadvisable. Medically speaking - you’ve pretty much left it too late to travel without huge risk.” Maybe it was blunt but it was true, if she travelled and something happened, it would be on Julia for not being honest. “Plus the plane staff aren’t trained to help properly if something went wrong on the flight, it could be fatal for you or the twins.” @bjorkncaddel

𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐀 𝐍𝐎𝐃𝐃𝐄𝐃 when the other woman let her know if she ever had difficulty finding the hang of things not hesitate to find some help. ❛ Don't worry, I will let you know. ❜ The Swedish blonde thinks once the babies are out of her, things are going back to a bit of normalcy. One of the first things she wanted to do was go out and club, but deep, deep down she is aware this won't happen anytime soon. It might take a while. ❛ In the next month. ❜ She says with a warm smile spread on her rosy lips. ⎯ ❛ Karolinska Universitetssjukhuse, it is in Stockholm. As for the doctors… We are working on it. ❜ After all, she is looking for a doctor over there. ❛ But everything else is settled, doctor. ❜ The blonde is genuinely thinking of having them at 'home' there and not in the hospital, but she won't tell this part for her. Either way, she wanted a professional opinion on her situation to figure out what to do next or what is the best plan for her due date.

Bed rest? This is not what she wants. The Swedish blonde feels like a caged bird with the idea of having more bed rest. Either way, she did have the best time of her life while she was on a trip. She got married, visited beautiful beaches, swam, rode on a jet-ski, participated in some interesting events, met new people, and did a few impromptu modeling works. What she is learning in this pregnancy is that sometimes calm down is necessary. The blonde sighs ruefully. It was palpable the disappointment in her expression to hear about the damned cares. ❛ Okay, let me see if I understood correctly, to sum up, I am only allowed to travel after the babies are born, after getting all exams done and confirmed? ❜ Maybe she needed to hear it one more time to the news sink in. It wasn't asked much… Neva just wanted to have her babies in her home country like she always dreamt of.

Julia nodded with an understanding look in her eyes, not surprised to hear the unplanned was a cause for stress levels to rise, after all that was common with many people. “Understandable, well if you ever feel it getting to a level you cannot cope with then please do let me know and we can sort you out with someone to talk to. New babies as well as pregnancy both come with a lot of movable parts, unexpected developments, it’s a lot.” The mention of getting back to her normal life almost made Julia wince but luckily her experience in the industry had taught her how to keep her expression neutral when she needed to. If this woman thought her life was going to go back to being the same as it was prior to falling pregnant she had a big shock coming, but surely she knew that, right? She didn’t look stupid, quite the opposite. 

“I see…and when were you planning on taking this private plane over to Sweden?” Oh how the other half lived, but she didn’t need to think about that right now, it wasn’t important. Any kind of air travel was likely unadvisable as she’d already made pretty clear. “Which hospital have you decided to register with over there? And your doctors name of course - if it does go ahead we’ll want to make sure all your notes are passed across in plenty of time.” A calm smile as she waited patiently for the answer to be given to her so she could note it down. Still thinking this whole thing was an incredably bad idea. 

“I’m afraid I’m not kidding, this isn’t a joking matter. After all we’re all here to ensure the safe delivery of your babies - there is no ulterior motive.” Listening to the hypothetical situation she tried not to raise her eyebrows, there was so much resistance from the woman which surprised her since normally people with nervous dispositions were more inclined to do what the doctors instructed to ensure everything went smoothly. “Yes, I’m afraid you would need to do bed rest. And once they are both born, to ensure their immune systems are fully developed and neither have any issues at birth, you can fly after a month. Although normally we recommend not before three months. However I understand you would likely be keen to travel to Sweden.” @bjorkncaddel

𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐀 𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐓 the doctor, swirling her wedding ring as a sign of nervousness, rested her hands now in her lap, as she remained in posture looking at the brunette before her. She shook her head. ❛ I don't think I need help. I got over it. I was just angry at first with a lot of small accumulations of things that turned out to be a big snowball. I am better…❜ She refers to mental state. Neva is more adjusted to her new life, and 'state'. After all a child, in her case children is a lot of changes in life without them. Trips are known to be a stressful thing to some people but not in her case. Neva needed it, and after her trips, she was a completely different person, lighter and less stressed. ❛ Unplanned things give me high stress even before this pregnancy. But I had to learn to manage my nerves. I'm accustomed to my new state and embracing it, and counting the days until these twins are out of me, so I can back to my normal life.❜ Normal life? Kind of a joke. She put in mind her life would be a little bit easier after having them.

❛ Of course. I mean, it wasn't the plan, but now it is. I wanted to have them in Sweden where I was born, and my husband suggested we go there to wait for them. My trip is all planned. We are going on a private plane to there. We have hospital, place, you name it. It's all checked, checked, aannnd checked. ❜ Not exactly all planned as she just stated, it was out of the blue this new trip, and she had everything settled, she looked for the hospital, a place to stay, her grandparents' house and lastly she needed to find a doctor over there, but hey! Baby steps. Neva didn't say anything to Julia, of course. But she was planning on bringing a doctor on board if anything got wrong.

❛ Are you kidding? I don't need a bed rest… ❜ Maybe, the health doesn't say the same thing. ⎯ ❛ Hypothetically speaking… If the exams get conclusive, will I need to do a lot of bed rest? And should I travel after they are born? How long can I hop in the first plane after they're born? Just remember, this is all a hypothetical situation. ❜ Because she is mentally preparing herself.

Julia was a carb fiend, something she didn’t share with many people because she was a doctor so if people knew the amount she actually ate they might not trust her advice anymore. Not because it was just bread, but because it was just…a bad diet. Born of convenience rather than nutrition, she’d stopped off at Toastery because it meant not having to cook when she got home. “Hmm? Oh, um only the Pumpernickel - I was trying to be healthy…it was a mistake. Obviously, when there are bagels on offer.” Giving the other a polite smile. @infragilehearts
