It’s DOOOOONE! It’s finally finished! Oh my gosh, what a journey this has been! I started concept on this last July (2020) and have been working in chunks via Instagram Lives to complete this sequel papercraft of the Six of Crows for over a year! I’m so excited to present Hook And Crook, inspired by a specific scene that happens in Crooked Kingdom. I’ve been stating this over and over again during the lives, but there were specific mirrors happening here between the two papercrafts that wholly define the dynamics of the characters and the two books.  

We talked about how the symbols in the facade of the Slat in Featherdark (Six of Crows papercraft) represented the strengths of each character (cane, knife, guns, bombs etc). The crow is standing proud and upright, above the city, to symbolize the upper-hand that the dregs had during SOC.

Now, the tables have turned in Hook And Crook. The symbols on the facade of the hotel show the character’s weaknesses (gloves, a red bird, gambling wheel, Dunyasha’s stars, paintbrush & laurels etc). The crow is defensively crouching with its hackles raised, the city above and oppressing - all representing the dregs having to turn and fight under dire circumstances. And bonus! When you put the two side-by-side, a little nod to a certain Ravkan symbol takes form! What a stupidly fun project this was! I’m so happy it’s finally finished and I thank you all for those who joined me in the lives to watch the process! (so sorry for the low quality on this; Featherdark is my most pilfered artwork for unsanctioned merch 💔)

may i present: my favourite wesper moments

wylan yelling out “don‘t!” when jesper deals in his guns while gambling with smeet, almost blowing his cover as a waiter

after genya changes wylan’s face back: “Did you have her make you better-looking?” Wylan pinked. “Maybe you forgot how handsome I am.”

wylan worrying about jesper after they’re attacked on black veil: Would Jesper be waiting when they finally got wherever they were going? Or was he lying wounded and bleeding on the floor of the tomb with no one to come to his aid? Wylan refused to believe it. […] Jesper had to survive. (helpppp i’m crying)

jesper flirting no.1: “Things are always more interesting in the dark.”

Wylan’s first thought was that this boy had the most perfectly shaped lips he’d ever seen. (hello???)

colm’s instant approval of wylan: “That‘s why he likes you. I know, I know - it’s none of my business, and I have no idea if he’d be good for you. Probably bring you ten kinds of headache. But I think you’d be good for him.”

“Maybe I liked your stupid face.” (no need to elaborate on that one)

jesper flirting no.2: “It’s brilliant.” Jesper winked. “Just like you.”

this scene in the hotel: All Wylan wanted to do was stand as close as he possibly could to him and know that he was safe. (again, i’m crying)

jesper being the absolute best support for wylan while they are visiting his mother. “Wy, listen to me. You have to pull yourself together.  Can you do this? We can leave. I can tell her you’re not up to it, or I can just go in myself. We can try to come back some-”

the fact that jesper was being super grumpy during their journey back from fjerda because wylan was “hiding out” when he literally was standing next to him the whole time

the whole first kiss scene. peak romance. and ending with:“Wylan,” Jesper said, looking into the wide blue sky of his eyes, “I really hope we don’t die.”

jesper being super angry when he finds out the reason why wylan’s father kicked him out (“He’s your son!”)

jesper flirting no.3: “Thought of me? Late at night? What was I wearing?”

wylan being the one to jump in and lie for jesper so colm doesn’t find out about his gambling problem: “It was my fault,” Wylan blurted.

”You were pretty amazing back there, by the way.” (awww <3)

Weak-Tober 2023: 01 Bloodstain

There was blood staining the button down shirt of his uniform.

Baekjin found himself looking at the spot for a bit longer than he most likely should.

It had dried already, turning from red to brownish, stiffening the fabric and turning it scratchy, but if he soaked it now, it should wash out fully… It was a pity that there simply wasn't the time for it now.

imesMaybe he could make time, but the question was, if it would be worth it. On one hand, a dried blood stain could either indicate messiness, unkemptness or give him an intimidation factor. Or a combination of these three things, depending on who he was dealing with.

The problem was that this was his school uniform and he had no intention of appearing unkempt inside the school where keeping up his image and reputation had its own importance, especially when the further success of his plans depended on having a professional enough appearance to be taken serious.

If it had been one of his other clothes, he wouldn't care as much. It wasn't a big stain and not in a visible spot either, so he could get away with keeping small blood splatters on himself as a small cue to remind his followers to not underestimate him. For some reason they tended to think he was going soft if he turned up repeatedly without any stain on himself.

How quickly they could forget the beating he handed out was confusing though. Sure, most of them had only ever witnessed him giving these beatings and not felt them themselves-only few people ever forgot if he gave them the painful hits personally-but it should still leave some impression.

The blonde looked at the bloodstain again, rubbing his thumb over the fabric and feeling the rough and hardened texture the soft fibers had turned into.

Aspirin should work well to break down the blood and help keeping it from staining. Saliva would do the same, but he had better things to do than soaking part of his clothing in spit, even if they handed up in the washer right after. He was past the point where that was necessary. He had other options now.

Stains were an annoyance anyway. If everything would go as he wanted and if he didn't need to steer people one way or the other, if he wasn't dependant on these people acting as he made them, he wouldn't even bother to think about reasons not to remove stains.

He preferred clean clothing with no hint of inability to keep it clean.

Sighing, the teen looked up from the stain and around the hallway to locate the nearest bathroom.

It would suck to wear a wet shirt, but it would only be the sleeve and he wouldn't even need to get the whole sleeve wet.

And in the end, he couldn't afford stains on the uniform. He didn't want them there either.

Esen: Oppenheimer. Brushed hands with Ouyang by accident in the darkened theatre. Thought nothing of it. Ouyang thought about it for the rest of the movie.

Baoxiang: Gathered his entire household for a public viewing of Barbie, watched Oppenheimer alone in private, then gathered everyone to watch Barbie again just to really drive the point home.

General Zhang: Watched Oppenheimer and then Barbie with Madame Zhang.

Madame Zhang: Watched Oppenheimer and Barbie with General Zhang. Then felt insecure and watched Oppenheimer again, alone.

Rice Bucket Zhang: Oppenheimer

Chen Youliang: Oppenheimer

Lady Ki: Barbie

Third Prince: Wanted to watch Barbie, but watched Oppenheimer with his friends instead.
