GOOFY !! UGLY !! OFF MODEL !! BAD !!
AGREED AGREED AGREED. i think about this all the time-- like the fact that mello lacked all the funding, all the government clearance and assistance, and ability to move freely that near had, and STILL managed to match near, and even overtaking him at some parts of the case, shows how insanely fucking smart and impressive he is
not to forget that near started off with backing and equipment but mello also had to join and take over the mafia since he ran away
I constantly think about the fact that if you ask a death note fan who is the #1 successor to L, they will say Near without a beat most likely, when in actuality, there was never a choice made so Mello and Near are on the same level and mello was just never given the time of day and it makes me so upset
Did they just have their first couple fight?
Don't be so cold Donald go after him☹☹
"Walkable city" is not "City where to have to walk everywhere."
"Walkable city" is.
Sidewalks big enough to fit you, your stroller, your wheelchair, your guide dog, or anything else you need when you're getting from one place to another.
Safe crosswalks frequent enough so you don't need to walk in traffic.
Bike lanes to keep bikes out of foot traffic and car traffic.
Accessible and affordable public transit.
Cities where the essentials are close enough you can travel on foot (or in wheelchair)
Cities where it's reasonable to be able to get from point a to point b without requiring you, yourself, to drive
People get so caught up in the "Walkable" part of the term and like to spout "Walkable cities are abelist because not everyone can walk".
Bitch. The modern city structure is abelist because not everyone can drive. And classist because not everyone can afford a car and it's pretty damn impossible to get a job if you don't have a car.
Walkable cities are cities where people can reasonably get from pointA to pointB without requiring a motor vehicle.
"But fae. Disabled people have issues using the paths in modern cities." Bitch abled people can barely use the paths in modern cities. That's kind of the fucking problem.
Also walkable cities have fucking benches. Not only for disabled people. But sometimes you just twist your ankle and need to sit for a moment.
"Put fae. If you have benches, homeless people will sleep on them."
Then get fucking housing for the homeless. Problem solved. They'll sleep in their nice warm homes instead of on the benches.

‘it’s not one. there are two of them.’
strangers from hell, ep.10 || the hole by hye-young pyun
A real conversation I think the Crows would have specifically to fuck with Kaz….
New pigeon: I’ve heard stories of Dirtyhands but it seems impossible that he could have done so much when he’s still so young. How does he do it?
Kaz: *quiet bc he’s a man a of mystery and theatrics*
Nina: bc he’s a fair man ❤️
Jesper: and the power of friendship ❤️
Wylan: and his acceptance of other people ❤️
Kaz: ?????
Inej: it’s true. He very easily got the best crew in Kerch. Why? He offered fair deals for us to join the crew - right Nina?
Nina: So generous. So kind. He sent a pretty girl to climb through my window too. How could I refuse?
Inej: He recognized the potential and skills of those more easily overlooked.
Wylan, putting a hand over his heart: I never thought anyone would take a merchant’s son seriously in the barrel. But Kaz really has an open heart. It made me so happy to make bombs for him.
Inej: and he knows how to treat those important to him.
Jesper: the man didn’t even kill me once. Could have. Should have. But there’s just too much love in his heart. It's to be expected. He's so close with his parents-
Pigeon: he is? Really?
Nina: haven't you heard? He honors his father daily-
Jesper: and, still lives with his mother-
Kaz: .....get out.
Nina: Inej didn't get her turn to say you're the bestest boyfriend in the whole wide world tho.
Inej, very seriously: the bestest.
*ungodly laughter as they get kicked out of the Crow Club*
Misa Amane is conceptually, at her core, a character driven by a need for an emotional connection to another person after the death of her parents. Light is her ideal person to latch on to. Not only is he Kira (her savior) but he's also an attractive charismatic man her age. She asks to be his girlfriend specifically to ensure he stays in her life, essentially to trap him from leaving her, even specifying she's okay if all he does is use her, bc ultimately she just wants to be helpful to Kira. While she hopes that someday maybe he might learn to love her too, she's fine with playing pretend when he suggests he can act like her boyfriend, even if he clearly states he doesn't reciprocate her feelings. The reason Misa is so easily manipulated is because she's already in a vulnerable state of mind. Traumatized and emotionally unstable, she needs someone to depend on, someone to fill the void left after her parents were murdered.
You see the problem with Misa isn't that she's inherently a flat character. The problem is that she's written by a misogynist.
What happened was, the author wrote an extremely interesting set-up for a great female character full of potential depth- and didn't realize it.
So instead of exploring her preexisting characterization or motivation meaningfully, the narrative frames her as purely unintelligent and oblivious, because that's how the author sees her.
Despite her extreme competence at many crucial parts of the story like her emergence as the second Kira, the fact she managed to trap Light in a relationship with her or her contributions to the case during the Yotsuba arc, she's instead used for comic relief or fanservice. She's usually portrayed as dumb and irrational, a nuisance, nothing but a pawn in Light's plan, another woman who fell for his manipulation.
She's not allowed further complexity or to be taken seriously, because the author isn't interested in exploring his female characters beyond the most surface level writing required for the story to make sense.
IM GOING TO CRY THEY MIGHT INCREASE THE SSI ASSETS LIMIT TO $10,000.
it's a bipartisan bill too! and for anyone unaware, people on SSI (which is different from SSDI), can only have $2,000 in assets (unless they have an ABLE account, which comes with its own rules). this assets limit has been in place for FORTY YEARS and is a giant part of why being on SSI keeps people incredibly impoverished.
i've also heard they might remove the marriage penalty but i don't have the spoons to read or explain it so someone else please add on!
this is huge! please spread the word and do what you can to help ensure this happens!
