i lied the compliments are very nice too and im in love with you
"Master... you DO know how to drive, right?"

something I love about the mob psycho finale was the implication of when Shigeo called Reigen a stranger, dismissing absolutely everything he had ever done for him, but the thing is, he was not wrong at all. the point is that both Shigeo and Mob are right, Reigen has helped him through so much, he doesn't see him any differently despite his powers, but he also is a liar and a fraud. a stranger, even.
using the word stranger is actually such a powerful thing to mention at all because it implies that they both showed sides of eachother that they regarded to be their "fake" selves, the persona they put up to mask their true feelings and intentions.
when Reigen says "this is the real me", he's not referring to just anything. he's saying he's not putting up that mask he always puts around everyone and that he's letting Shigeo, all of him, the good and the bad, see him for who he truly is, just like how Reigen saw all of him now. he's saying he's letting him see all of him instead of hiding it like he used to before, without Shigeo having to pry it out of him. they both know eachother so well, but at the same time, they don't know each other at all. they're the closest person they have to one another and yet they also don't know a fucking thing.
and that's the point. they'll learn about each other and themselves as they go along, trusting that the other will accept all of them, because that's what it's all about. it's all about trust and making connections, relationships that help you develop and become a better person, and I think that's beautiful. I just... love this story, man.
Sometime post-series, Reigen takes Mob out for one of their semi-monthly ramen nights and the kid seems more distracted than usual. After he bends his spoon for the second time (and the ceramic ones are much more fiddly to fix), Reigen’s finally like “Okay, Mob. What’s bothering you?”
Mob: Oh. Well. I … realized that I have feelings for Hanazawa. Reigen, clapping him on the back: Hey, that’s great, Mob! Mob: But I don’t think I can tell him Reigen, immediately shifting into Business Mode: Why not? Mob: *stares wordlessly into his soup* Reigen: Now Mob, you shouldn’t be afraid of rejection! I know things got a little … hairy with Tsubomi, but in the end you handled it like a champ! Mob: No, it isn’t that. Reigen: Of course it isn’t! He’s not, uh, dating someone else, is he? Mob: No. A lot of girls have confessed to him, but he says he isn’t interested in any of them. Reigen: Well, that sounds like great news for you, right? Mob: *continues fixing his spoon* Reigen, internally: shit, is someone giving him trouble for liking boys? is he afraid of how people will react? are society’s judgements preventing him from following his dreams? Reigen: *deep breath* Reigen: *launches into a long and heartfelt speech about how it doesn’t matter what other people think of you and you should always be true to yourself and pursue what makes you happy, and being different isn’t bad, in fact it’s beautiful, and how no matter who he loves Mob will always, always have his support. By the end he’s crying a little and so are half the other people in the ramen bar* Mob: Oh. Mob: Thank you. Mob: But it’s not that either, Master. Reigen, giving up: What is it, then? Mob, wringing his hands: When you ask someone out, it’s polite to pay for their food. But Hanazawa’s appetite is so large and I don’t have a lot of money. There’s no way I can afford to date him! Reigen, suddenly haunted by the Ghost Of Restaurant Bills Past: … Ah.
(and that’s the story of how Reigen ended up sponsoring their first date)
“I wanted it to be something that feels kind. When I came up with the concept, I was thinking something along the lines of ‘kindness’ or ‘the connections between people’. It ended up being an action manga, but my original idea was a slice-of-life that happened to include superpowers.”
-ONE, creator of Mob Psycho 100
sometimes i see mp100 fans picking the quote “you’re the protagonist of your own life” for their artwork and blog and im like “ah yes, reigen said that :) i like that quote” and then i remember he looked like this when he said it
Okay wait so something just struck me
Can you imagine, like in Mob Psycho 100, Reigen’s safety just becomes like. A top level priority for the government.
Like Reigen is, or is at least partially, the reason all these Uber powerful psychics are living normal ass lives. Maybe even if it’s just tangentially. Either way, Mob would absolutely lose it if Reigen got hurt. And god forbid if something worse we’re to happen to him, those responsible would have to deal with several extremely powerful extremely pissed off psychics. They might not even care about Reigen specifically. But Reigen being hurt hurts Mob. And you can’t hurt Mob. Hurting mob is a crime against humanity
So like. What if at one point Joseph From The Government just sees this guy who has Zero Percent Psychic Power and One Hundred Percent Direct Relation To Powerful Psychics just throwing his ass into danger for Something and Mob/Teruki/Serizawa/(insert other psychics because I’m forgetting people) just losing all their braincells going after him and he’s like oh my god. Someone put this man in a tucking hamster ball he cannot be allowed to be hurt for any reason ever Japan would not survive this
Sobbing
Idk idk something about how broccoli arc is about looking someone you love in the face and seeing the best part of them and knowing they won't hurt you and confession arc is about looking someone you love in the face and seeing the worst part of them and knowing they will hurt you and loving them anyway. Mob stepping forward into the spear that crumples when he moves is one side of the coin and Reigen running barefoot through the hurricane that's battering him to pieces is the other, but the coin always has both sides. Everyone is simultaneously the best and worst parts of themselves and loving someone, seeing someone, is about accepting that totality.
Okay but now I really want to draw our OCS together with Cedar being introduced to Al in order to help him gather evidence on cases since his job is already to help Sally and the police commissioner keep tabs on villains (except it usually ends up with him handing over huge files absolutely full to the brim of incriminating evidence for the defendant 💀)
Do you have a design for ur lawyer oc? Asking for a friend 👉👈
HERE HE IS IN ALL HIS GLORY
His name is Michael A. Practis, but he goes by Al (like. like um. LIKE. like malpractice. ok thank you)
He's a defense lawyer who recently moved into Fair City, and didn't realize that the place was just... full of villains. And new villains pop up like every day. He also didn't realize they would just SAY they're villains, loud and proud, and that REALLY ruins his chances of a successful trial.
I'd say he's about fresh outta college, around 25 yrs old, and has... SO many life regrets already. Despite that, he has, like. An abnormally large amount of skills? Or interests at least, that he'd probably make a good villain himself being a sort of jack of all trades, but he's sort of resigned himself to just.......... being a shitty lawyer who can’t win a case.
Sally Botsford is also his enemy but like, completely one-sidedly. Sally is just out here getting that COIN.
SHE IS LITERALLY SO SILLY I ADORE HER
"we need reigen for women" this, "reigen but a girl" that. you fool. she is already canon to mob psycho 100. her name is TOME KURATA you will RESPECT her
so how’s everybody doing this week? me, not so well
