One of Mati’s Favorites

I’m gonna be “Mati-fying” some more characters from the show.

I’m obviously gonna be doing the Pines (Should I do Dipper first or Stanford first), but I’ll do a few others as well (probably Gideon, Soos, Wendy, and of course our favorite demonic acute angled fiend: Bill).

Anyway, here is the Mati’s impersonation of Stanley:

Now I’ll probably need to explain a bit more regarding the limitations of Mati’s impersonation ability.

1. While Mati can impersonate hand-held objects/prop, it would be made from Mati’s body, meaning Mati can’t “let go” of said impersonating object, the same goes for accessories (hats, jewelry, gloves, etc.) Mati prefers not to impersonate these types of objects while impersonating due to the reasons stated above.

2. While impersonating an individual with glasses, Mati is unable to replicate glass from Mati’s body, resulting in the frames being empty.

3. Mati has certain impersonations that Mati will use for specific situations, but specifically ones that can “fight”, and will often replicate any weapons that the real individual has used (hence why Mati’s Stanley has brass knuckles).

4. If there’s an eye feature/design on the individual’s clothing/accessories, Mati will replicate the eye design has an actual eye, meaning Mati can see through that eye as well.

5. Mati can combine the features of a few individuals (it’s easier if the individuals have similar features to each other), or different ages/phases of a single individual (ex: combining the features of Stanley pre-portal and post-portal).

So…

Sorry I haven’t posted anything for about a month.

I was taking a small break and THEN…

I got sick for 2 weeks!

But I’m feeling better and I’m working on Mati’s impersonation of Stanley, which I’m excited for since Stanley is one of my favorites.

I’m almost done with the lineart, the coloring won’t take that long.

After I’m done with Stanley, which character should I Mati-fy next? I’m thinking Gideon or Mati’s best interpretation of Bill.

Update & Upcoming Artwork

Sorry I haven’t posted anything Undertale related for a month, I was taking a break then got super into another fandom so started to work on art for that, then I took another break and then I got sick for almost 2 weeks.

So for a long story short: I basically took a long break to rethink some things.

I think I got a bit overwhelmed with the amount of characters/AU variations that I ended up burning out.

But now, I’m gonna start on a project revolving around Neue AU Variants based on the Star Sanses and Bad Sanses. This will include the following:

-Eras (“Son”/Student of Dream)

-Lucida (“Daughter”/Student of Nightmare)

-Merriweather (Daughter of Underswap Sans)

-Crimson (Son of Horrortale Sans)

-Gisha (Child of Cross Sans)

-Vani (Daughter of Dust Sans)

-Sabon (Son of Killer Sans)

-Canvas (Student of Ink Sans)

Along with a few more.

Obviously for a few of these I haven’t completed their rough drafts yet, but for the ones I did, I’ll be redrawing/redesigning their appearances.

Colored Lineart of Stanley Pines

Here is the colored version of my version of Stanley Pines for Mati’s impersonation character sheet.

I played with the colors a bit so they’re not gonna match the original exactly, I tried to use colors from the clothes worn when Stan was younger (mainly kid & adult).

I’m trying something a bit different with his fez, I tried to combine the 1st & 2nd symbol on his fez, it looks like a fish with an eye in its mouth. Does the blue iris on the fez stand out too much & should I add white around said iris/fish mouth to make it look more like an eye?

Ask Questions About Mati!?

So doing the concept art of Mati “impersonating” Stanley is taking a lot longer than I was hoping, Stan’s one my favorite characters so I it to look good which results in me creating too high standards, but don’t worry I’m still working on it.

For now though, you all can ask questions about Mati or my other characters (who haven’t been drawn yet). I’ll try to answer the best I can without giving too major spoilers.

Stanley Design

Sorry that it’s taking me so long this depiction of Mati impersonating other characters. Drawing human proportions are HARD, especially hands!

Anyway, here is my outline design of Stanley Pines:

I’m a bit wishy washy with the body since I wanted his belly to be more prominent, and I was having a hard time drawing his fez. I do have an outline without the fez:

I’m getting ready to do the outline of Mati’s Stanley and the coloring.

Who Should I “Mati-fy” Next?

So if you have seen my recent post, Mati has the ability to “impersonate” any individual that Mati has seen.

I used Mabel as an example, mainly because I like to imagine that Mabel befriended Mati when her & Mati first met.

This also gives me an excuse to “redesign” characters from the show.

I was gonna go through all the Pines, but I figured it would be fun to mix it up a bit.

So who should I “Mati-fy” next?

Now there’s 2

Mati has many abilities both known & unknown.

One of these abilities is that Mati is able to change Mati’s appearance to anyone that Mati has seen. However, the form is not a perfect replica, & most likely used for intimidation rather than “blending in”.

Mati is able to adjust & change the color/size/thickness of Mati’s body to mimic skin, clothing, accessories & hair; along with being able to form facial features like a mouth, teeth, nose & iris/pupils. However Mati is unable to form eyebrows, makeup & “natural” internal organs. Mati does have some difficulties forming shoes, resulting the impersonation’s feet to still look hoof-like.

First impressions with the Pines was not the greatest, then again, if you saw that wouldn’t you react the same way?

Another one of Mati’s abilities, that isn’t depicted above, is that Mati is able to mimic other’s voices. However this works differently to how this ability is normally explained.

Mati can hear & “store” the sounds of words that Mati has heard. Mati can then use these words to communicate. Imagine Bumblebee from Transformers but instead of using a radio, Mati’s repeating words that Mati has heard to communicate. Mati is able to “keep” words for about a couple of months, however Mati can keep words that hold emotional or sentimental value for as long as decades.

Should have seen Stanford’s face when he heard Stanley screaming his name, only to find Mati calmly standing there.

Also you may have noticed that no pronouns are used when describing Mati, this another one of Mati’s abilities. It feels natural to those who are affected by this, even Mati doesn’t know why this happens.

Mabel Design & What’s next?

I’m currently working on a character sheet that will show/explain a few of Mati’s powers/abilities. This upcoming one will have some uncanny valley sort of elements, which some might find disturbing.

I’ll be using Mabel, & the Pines in general, to showcase Mati’s abilities.

I have finally finished the character sheet for my OC: Mati!

I’ll be creating another character sheet for Mati to explain Mati’s abilities & effects on the residents/visitors of Gravity Falls.

Why is Mabel Standing like That?

Just sketching out a rough draft with Mabel, I’ve been trying a new rough draft technique.

Basically I stick figure the general pose that I want, then I highlight the “body” & then use that to create the outline. I definitely like this technique vs the one I use to do (which I’ll still use for more detailed work).

Gravity Falls OC Sneak peek.

I’m currently working on the ref/info character sheet for my OCs, which I’ve given names to all of them, I’ll give some information about them in a later post.

Anyway, here is a sneak peek of Mati:

Should I make a Gravity Falls OC? [UPDATE]

So the poll still has 3 days left, but I decided to change 2 out of the 5 characters: specifically the succubus & runaway test experiment.

I felt like they wouldn’t work well in Gravity Falls, plus I couldn’t fit them well with a story idea for these characters.

I replaced the succubus with…..a unicorn! Yes, the same unicorn species from The Last Mabelcorn. I thought their interactions with the other characters would be more comical. They still have the same “abilities” as the unicorns from the show, but I decided to add a few more:

Able to transform into a human, but still has the original color of their mane & eyes.

Can create rainbows (this would evolve into something else later).

Can create unlimited amount of glitter from horn or hands.

Able to “magically” lift small objects with horn, can lift bigger objects/people but takes more energy.

Actually has the ability to see the morality of a soul, but they are unaware of this power.

Next I replaced the experiment with, hear me out…..a dog! Now for a better explanation, this is a scientist in a dog body, this is a result of a failed experiment. The backstory is a bit long, but a simplified version is that they were researching & testing out ways to expand the human life. This obviously failed, but also kinda succeeded. But that’ll be explained later.

I’m also working on their basic information, like what they do, their names, backstory, etc.

I’ll start doing concept art for these characters when the poll is closer to being done.

Should I make a Gravity Falls OC?

So seeing that Gravity Falls is making a comeback, especially on this site, I’m debating on if I should make a character for it.

I have a few ideas regarding what the character can be:

Just a regular human working at the grocery store in Gravity Falls.

An experiment that broke out of containment & is currently roaming around the forest.

A demon of some kind, I was thinking a succubus/incubus & are trying to seduce the older folks in Gravity Falls, but they suck at it.

A random monster/cryptid/mythical creature that just hangs out around town & everyone is just fine with it.

A ghost/poltergeist that possesses people/animals/machinery for fun or travel.

While typing this out, I imagine all 5 of these being friends/acquaintances that work together in solving problems like the Mystery Inc. Gang.

I know that all space prints clothing are probably clashing with each other, but it also fits his personality of not caring about what he wears as long as he’s comfortable. I wanted to give a shirt that said “SPAAAAAAAAACE!!!”, but you wouldn’t be able to see it because of his jacket.

Merriweather - UNDERSWAP

Merriweather, or just Merrie, has the ability to summon a massive warhammer, think Sardonyx from Steven Universe or Tinkaton from Pokémon. However, she does get a bit overexcited when using it, looking a big unhinged but she’s just really excited to use it.

Miriam - SWAPFELL

Miriam can also summon a weapon as well, a huge spiked flail, something like Sweetheart’s from OMORI but bigger. I would actually imagine her voice to be similar to the Man on the Internet lyrical video of World’s End Valentine.

Avenir - FELLSWAP (GOLD)

Much like his Underfell counterpart, Avenir is Trans: female to male. This started out due to him thinking that he had to be a man to be taken seriously by his people, but grew to love his new identity & officially transitioned when he was older. His original name was Aldria.

Neue & AU Variants: Clothing Rough Draft Pt.5/6

Here are the clothing rough drafts for Quire, Gisha & Styx.

Sorry it took forever to do these 3, I didn’t have a lot of ideas except for a very basic concept.

Not gonna lie, I can’t draw flowers that well so I just pasted some pics of flowers on Quire to get a basic idea for placement, points for ya’ll if you can guess the flowers and what they symbolize.

I also found out that XTale was technically a Swap AU, which meant I had to make a few changes to Gisha, mainly personality and clothing ideas, I might remove the crown. (I also changed Gisha’s name from Mono, and made them Non-Binary).

I don’t have much to say about Styx, I was debating on drawing birds on his horns; side note: he’s gonna play an interesting role along side Quire and Gisha.

Character Updates & Information {Please Read}

This is just an update regarding character designs: I might not post in a minute due to trying to complete the clothing rough drafts for the 6 remaining characters, finishing the outline & coloring of finished rough drafts, writing character sheets for the characters, & working on rough drafts for new AU Variants.

So I have a lot on my plate & will be taking breaks to avoid becoming burnt out, however I feel bad not posting anything, especially regarding my characters, so I’ll post minor facts or ideas for the characters while working on them.

For now, this post will go over a few of the characters, mainly 3-6 characters at a time to avoid creating a super long post. Anyway let’s start.

Neue - UNDERTALE

Neue is able to remember past timelines/resets like Sans, but how he remembers them is a bit different. Neue will remember resets similar to trying to remember a dream, or having a strange sense of deja vu. He can’t tell if these “memories” are real or not, which causes him to overthink/ overanalyze certain events that occur.

Roman - UNDERFELL

Roman is trans, male to female, but is fine with the following pronouns: She/He/They. This is due to the transition being rather recent & giving her friends & family time to process her changes, she is keeping her original name since she really likes it. She already had a somewhat “feminine” physique before transitioning, which did cause some teasing/bullying from the other monsters.

Nova - OUTERTALE

Nova has & will always just float/levitate about few feet off the ground. He doesn’t remember the last time he has actually walked or even touched the ground, not that he minds. He does doze off a lot which could cause him to drift off, his friends came up with the solution to tie a rope around him & hold him like a balloon.

I didn’t have a lot of ideas for Century, just that I wanted him to look similar to Neue & Avenir.

However, Vani & Sabon were a bit easier since I already had ideas for their clothing. I was trying to give Vani & Sabon almost Chara & Flowey vibes with their outfits.
