Also- if its 'extra important' even if only to a select few- torrents are a possibility. But yeah- private archives are important and precious and the only real possibility of owning media or having information in a space not controlled by capricious actors that control the cloud.
i encourage people to start archiving. whatever amount you can do. get a physical hard drive.
documentation of political events (both sides)
resources & information that you access online (don't bank on it staying up forever)
your important documents, photos, etc.
moments of humanity (ex: just saw a video of a nyc subway wall covered in hopeful sticky notes after the election)
culture you want to preserve (ex: like how ppl saved vines back in the day to make vine compilations when it went away!)
your medical records
what will you NEED access to if it's no longer available online?
what will you WANT to show future generations from this historic time period?
this was always important with the fragility of the internet but especially now 💕
Remember: the more difficult you make it for them to realize a report is false, the more useless you make the portal.
Man, almost like Gavin Newsom is full of shit and fully made up that 80% of Americans are agaisnt due process and used that as a way to try to push the party further to the right, because he's proven over the past few months he is a right-winger.
He pulled the same shit with trans rights, saying it's an "80/20" issue against, when in reality it was only 80/20 when you exclusively poll not just Republicans, but Republicans who have never met a trans person (for Republicans who have, about 35% support trans rights which is still alarmingly low)
It's all bullshit. We need to stop listening to people with some of the worst instincts and intentions in the party.
A reminder to the "the American government wouldn't..." crowd. They have. They have made their own internment camps before. They have rounded up innocent citizens and immigrants before. The victims of which are still alive to this day and trying to share their stories with the world, they have been trying to warn us for a long time. George Takei (as seen above) is a famous example of this. He has written about his experiences time and time again, even publishing a book talking about his time in these camps. He may be famous now, but at the time he was just another kid forced from his home. To this day he still firmly dedicates himself to trying to educate and inform people, trying to spread awareness with his platform. The American Government can and will do terrible things. Do not let anyone convince you otherwise.
French senator Claude Malhuret sums up the world made by the current American administration, 5 March 2025
Saw this on wikipedia and thought it was cool - The author of the short story that inspired "They Live" - Ray Nelson In Paris, he worked with Michael Moorcock smuggling then-banned Henry Miller books out of France.
Ultimate Fandom crossover! Rowdy Roddy Piper! John Carpenter! Elric of Melnibone! Henry Miller! Sex! Action! Art! Pop Art! More sex but also some of it is kind of sad and humanistic in a alcoholic way! And a sword that hungers for souls!
I’ve said it all along. So many things wrong with that day, including the reactions of the Secret Service agents. (Watch their reaction when Trump was allegedly ‘shot’ and compare it to the agents reactions when Reagan was actually shot.)
Even a graze from the alleged rifle would have taken off the entire ear. Truthful, knowledgeable marksmen will verify. As will any credible ER/trauma physician.
So. Many. Things. Wrong.
