The hum of the music swelled around them. Couples in beautiful gowns and suits moved, their bodies swaying in time with the melody of the night.

Max curled his fingers beneath her chin, lifting her face to his. His mouth opened to speak but, for perhaps the first time in his life, words escaped him. He shook his head to the sides, admiring the beauty before him; only she could have this pull on him.

His lips brushed tenderly over hers, the din of the crowd fading until all that was left was the sound of their hearts beating as one. He rested his forehead against hers, savoring the warmth of her breath, a shared smile spreading between them as the moment lingered on—just the two of them and the love of a lifetime.
