The rawest line to ever be conceived, honestly.

Zatanna has been hopping around Europe for months now. She’s been finding her father’s old teachers and new ones that are all her own and getting them to tell her everything they can. Since she left the mountain she’s been wringing every drop of knowledge she can from the world and practising it until she falls asleep with all her magic spent.
It feels a little like healing.
Sometimes it feels like something else though. When Zatanna thinks about how the only real connections she’s made on this journey have been with her teachers. Those connections aren’t like the one she shared with her father. Not like the connections she still shares with the Team. She makes the effort to go and visit the mountain on occasion but it’s not enough. The feeling of other people being close and loving her doesn’t fill her up like it used to.
She decides that this probably is healing. This whole thing she’s doing. But it’s a lonely breed of it.
Then a boy with black hair and blue eyes and far too much power, just like her, comes tumbling into her room one day.
“Uh. Hi. I’m Billy.” he says, uncertain. His aura crackles with lightning and Zatanna doesn’t think she’s ever seen someone with so much raw magic running through their veins.”You’re Zatanna right? I was hoping that you could help me? I want- I need to learn magic.” He pauses. “It’s important. A wizard told me so.”
Zatanna hasn’t thought about helping anyone in a long time. She’s been too focused on saving herself to have room for other worries. She realises that she misses it.
She must hesitate for too long because Billy looks far more worried than a kid that age should have any right to. “Please?” he says.
Zatanna smiles, because healing takes many forms and she thinks that this might be one she prefers. “Okay.” she says.
Billy smiles and it lights the room up so much that Zatanna thinks he might actually be doing magic on accident.
They’ll work on it.
Why don’t tumblr people watch robot wars? Like a bunch of homemade scrap metal death machines beating each other to pieces? There is both a flame pit AND a catapult? People watching their creations being absolutely MAULED and then having to completely rebuild this complex robot in like 10mins before their next fight? I thought you people would be on this already smh

Gus was born to be a showman.
He started doing illusions before he could walk. Adding animations and sound effects to the stories he’d watch his dad tell the world through a crystal ball. His mom would make appropriate noises of approval for every bit of magic he did. She was never one for dramatics, an academic to her core, but that just made her appreciate the pure craftsmanship that went into Gus’s magic. She was the one who saw a prodigy where others saw a show-off.
The older he got the more Gus was drawn into circles of action. Of doing. People used to think of Willow as meek but Gus always managed to see through her awful abomination magic to the core of power beneath. A core that ached to make the world around her grow. Then they met Luz and she was nothing but action. Always doing and acting and influencing the world like no one Gus had ever met.
“How do you measure up?” someone asks him. Someone who doesn’t understand the world like Gus does. “How can you change the world when everything you create is smoke and mirrors?”
Some might think that it’s a valid question but Gus is smarter than that. As a child he sat on his mother’s knee and watched the policies of the Emperor’s Coven change because of the pictures his dad painted with his words. He played god to the entirety of an enemy's world until she ran screaming from his creation. Gus knows the power of smoke and mirrors.
So Gus starts to change things. He covers up wanted posters and Emperor’s Coven propaganda. Then, when that doesn’t feel like enough, he starts to create images of his own. He writes messages in the sky condemning the Emperor. He produces satire about their practices and broadcasts his work right in the center of Bonesborough. Gus builds an insurrection out of illusions.
Gus was born to be a showman. Someone who commands the attention of his audience. Not so many years later he stands in front of a rebellion he incited and he's still holding people's attention. He's still giving them commands.
Gus stands as the architect of an uprising and knows his strength.
Enemies-to-lovers, but instead of featuring a villain redemption arc, the heroic one is getting progressively more corrupt, unhinged and fucked up, and the one who was originally the clear-cut villain out of the two is just like "well mark me down as scared and horny"
