And the award for the worst TV adaptation goes to...
The sexual humiliation of the Greens is nauseating. There was no need to have Aegon talk for two minutes about his burned genitals. There was no need to have Aemond stroll naked out of a brothel. There was no need to show Alicent getting dicked down so much.
I honestly dont like how they have changed the whole "Aemond" perspective from showing him as the fierce and strategic person to someone who simply relies on whispers from his small council and would not know things otherwise. There is no way that the message regarding dragonseeds reached Kings landings,Adam got the dragon, and people sneaked from Kings landing to Dragonstone without him knowing ANYTHING!!! This sudden change of showing him as a weak leader is so unfair to his character arc.
Why is only Team Black preparing for the war? why is Team Green shown as one's waiting for war to happen to prepare for it. I simply don't understand this.
Alicent knew the truth and yet she hid it from her family. Her saying that she has served the realm really doesn't do justice when she is the reason the war is happening in the first place. She should be preparing for it if what she claims " her service to the realm" has been!
I honestly dont understand this writing and I believe this certainly messes up the arcs
Lol, Rhaenra saying "the horrors I have just loosened cannot be for a crown alone" is the definitive proof that HOTD is NOT an adaptation of Fire & Blood. It's just a published fanfic.
This is not even a case of the show writers changing some major things and having different interpretations of the source material. No. They have literally invented a whole new story.
The ENTIRE point of Fire & Blood was about two royal brats willing to unleash horrors upon the smallfolk to win the Iron Throne. Yes, part of it was about a woman being denied power because she's a woman, but ultimately she is still an entitled, arrogant royal who is willing to let thousands of innocent people suffer just to get back what's hers.
Fire & Blood is an anti-war and anti-monarchy story. But now it's a story about a good, righteous queen who was unfairly betrayed and is forced to go to war to save the realm from itself and boohoo she's gonna get unfairly betrayed by the smallfolk too!!! ššš
The story went from "royals from both genders will sacrifice the smallfolk for their own benefit" to "a good female royal will sacrifice herself to save the stupid and ungrateful smallfolk who don't deserve her" š« š« š«
I bet GRRM is shaking his head and gritting his teeth now.
The only good thing coming from season two are the top notch visuals were getting for Aemond :)
For science....... here's Aemond mounting the horse in slow-mo.....
"Maelor does not yet exist on this timeline because 30 years is compressed into 20 years," says Condal in an interview. However, Aegon and Helaena would have already had Maelor because he was born before Rhaenyra was ever pregnant with Visenya and they still kept her part in the show. They gave Rhaenyra all the pain and grief of losing her children due to the actions of the greens. And they stripped away Helaenaās own grief and going mad because of b&c and what they made her do because team black can do no wrong. But I guess Iām forgetting that we arenāt supposed to be sympathetic to Team Green.
psa: after all these leaks coming out, im only writing based on the books now. There is no way in hell that I can take this season as inspiration. What a way to ruin characters and a storyline. Such a waste.
We waited almost two years for this fucking nonsense. Itās just tiring at this point.
Aegon and Aemond in canon:
Aegon and Aemond in Ryan fanfic:
Add Aemond to that because that was the most OOC thing I've ever seen in the leaks.
condal was like: you know d&d were so clever and smart
watching the leaks like:
SPOILERS-HOTD LEAKS
Aemond being physically aggressive towards his sister and Haelena telling him that heās going to die and that basically no one will care are the most OOC things I can imagine for both characters. That being the case, I donāt even know why Aemond still wants to fight, since he knows that no one supports him and I canāt find a single reason why he should go to Harrenhall at this point. He should go to Essos and spend the rest of his days enjoying life and not giving a shit about anything
LEAKS!!!!! BEWARE!!!!!! Answer under the cut<3
THE MOST OOC SHIT THIS SHOW HAS GIVEN US!!!!!!!! Iāll die on this hill when I say Aemond would NEVER get physical with his loved ones!!
Ryan is telling me that I have to believe Aemond is nicer to a sex worker rather than HIS OWN MOTHER AND SISTER!!????????????
Oh I deeply need him to leave EVERYONE behind and leave because no one gives a single flying fuck about him so why should he even TRY to fight for them? He should leave for Essos and have good sex with essosi wine
HotD Ep 08 Season finale - Spoiler alert!

I just saw the scene where Alicent goes to see Rhaenyra in Dragonstone in the Season finale and HOLY SHIT WTF WAS THAT?!
She is literally telling Rhaenyra when Aemond will leave, telling her to attack then and assuring Rhaenyra that she will surrender Kings Landing to her without a fight.
WTF?!
This season is ONE BIG JOKE.
WTF is going on in that writers room?
Unless this is some elaborate promotion stunt where they purposefully shot these scenes to leak them and then the finale end up being totally different, I will have no more reason to watch this show at all.
Season 2 has already been weak in writing and I'm scared they will ruin it beyond saving.
Do not mourn me, Mother. It was a fair exchange. I may have lost an eye, but I gained a dragon. Ewan Mitchell as Aemond Targaryen HOUSE OF THE DRAGON (2022-present)
Disappointed by the show in general, tbh. Gravely disappointed. I had such high hopes for this show and the writes ruined it completely.
This show isnāt even fan fiction, itās a parody at this point. The writers clearly donāt know GOT facts and this episode showcases it big timeā¦
To clarify:
There is no logical reason for kings landing to be experiencing a famine. The reach is their primary suppliers of food, while the water trade is simply for things like spices and salt, which is used to preserve meat. They were never dependent on that for the cities food supply.
(Also if itās a water blockadeā¦how is it that all they have to eat is fish?)
Even with the gates closed, they have store houses of food. The supplies within them could last the city a little over a year. So unless they arenāt pulling from them, thereās no freaking way that in mere weeks theyāre experiencing wide spread famine to the point of rioting.
The whole food shortage thing seemed like a flimsy excuse to get the small folk to praise rhaenyra. But it makes no sense since she ordered the blockade and a few ships of food will not be enough to sustain the small folks long term.
Itās like the writers canāt make things make sense. They keep trying to spoon-feed viewers into liking rhaenyra. Now they just keep defying logic to make her either the winner or the victim in universe and it justā¦doesnāt work. Not at all.
I am so tired.
i cannot emphasize it enough to you guys that they're giving book!daemon hating his brother and wanting to steal his throne (that's why he begins grooming rhaenyra and sets her against her siblings and poisons her relationship w them forever) is going to show!aemond right now. book!aemond was never characterized as wanting his brother's throne or hating aegon. that was all daemon in the book š¬
Gonna wait until the last 2 episodes release before giving my final opinion but so far this season has been Hot Garbage!!! I genuinely feel bad for the entire cast and crew, cuz NONE of the characters are being done right.
So basically House of the Dragon is Ryan Condal's masterclass in how NOT to adapt a book for television.
This show could have been epic and that's really sad.
Ryan Condal: what shall I do with my cheating traitor asshole Daemon and my loyal asshole Aemond?
Ryan Condal: ah yes: Switch their personalities and give Daemon a redemption arc!
Ryan Condal and the whole writing room choosing the plotlines by throwing darts at a board, while blindfolded!!!

Aemond Targaryen ā House Of The Dragon S2E6
In the showās desperation to make Rhaenyra the hero, they have actually made Rhaenyra the worst character which is a travesty because book Rhaenyra is one of the best ASOIAF villains in my opinions
What went wrong with show Rhaenyra? Well for one thing, they are never going to make her the villain, it seems. Despite the end of season 1 making it seem like they were going that route. But looking back at season 1, we should have seen this coming
Rhaenyra didnāt kill Laenor, she let him escape. Rhaenyra didnāt feed Vaemond to Syrax, she had no say in his death. They donāt make it clear what she means by wanting Aemond to be āquestioned sharply.ā Sheās innocent in all the above
And not only that, but they have set the story as a feminist crisis and not a succession crisis. This was the worst misstep they could have taken. Because not only Rhaenyra immediately sympathetic, but there is no chance they can go the book Rhaenyra route now because it would misogynistic. Imagine: A story about a womanās power and throne being taken from her because she is a woman. A victim of the patriarchy. And then she becomes a tyrant and proves the sexist men right. That would be a terrible story
The book is not feminist story about a worthy woman being abused by the patriarchy. Itās about how power corrupts people. And Rhaenyra is the biggest villain in the story. If they went the book Rhaenyra route, she would be rewarding her council for Blood and Cheese. She would say āI will have my throne or my half brotherās head.ā She would never offer to go Rookās Rest, just tell Rhaenys to go. Book Rhaenyra and show Rhaenyra are two completely different people
And here is why Iām worried about season 3. There is no way to adapt the Rhaenyra Triumphant/Overthrown chapters without making her the villain. So either they are going to the book route and have people break out in anger the same they did with Daenerys, or somehow make it not her fault
Either way, they have written themselves into a corner
Bestie can I be so for real I am so upset about the way Aemond is written. Season 1 Aemond is basically book Daeron but angsty, but Season 2 Aemond is like book Daemon (disloyal, wants power). Not that book Aemond was someone to applaud for loving his family, that dude was a psycho but he was such a LOYAL psycho. Smh.
Bestie you are absolutely right. Season 1 Aemond and season 2 Aemond are so disconnected and there's no through line or explanation for why. Seemingly they just decided to go with a different characterization suddenly, maybe because they realized Aemond was fairly sympathetic in the first season.
His true characterization is loyalty to his family and willingness to do anything for them, and Aegon and Aemond are loyal to each other. Go to Storm's End and betroth yourself to secure an ally for the Greens? Aemond will do it for Aegon. Kill your nephew and probably guarantee war? Aegon will throw a feast to celebrate and support Aemond's actions. Need to take out one of the Black's dragons? Aegon and Aemond will attack together. Aegon is injured and unable to rule? Aemond will rule as regent and refuse to take the throne from him. Aegon and all his surviving children are missing, his mother and sister imprisoned, and Rhaenyra and Daemon have taken king's landing with help from houses in the Riverlands? Aemond will burn everything to get vengeance for his family and draw Daemon out to battle against him. Aemond takes down Daemon but dies in the process? Aegon orders a massive statue to commemorate his brother and honor his loyalty and legacy.
But because the Greens are supposed to be caricature disorganized incompetent and selfish villains, they hate each other and put each other down even in the midst of war. Aemond has to be an outright evil and self-interested, power hungry anime baddie who hates his lazy, hedonistic, sadistic brother Aegon apparently š and Helaena is just there in the background as a non character at this point and everything that defined her character in the book is removed.
It really is out of character and makes no sense for Aemond to take out his own brother and his dragon when they're at war with a faction of the family that has several dragons and that faction poses a much more significant threat to Aemond than Aegon does... It's really just lazy writing. Instead of actually exploring the character motivations of the two, like how Lucerys' murder led to Blood and Cheese and how the brothers feel about that, it's turned into "Aemond wants to kill Aegon over petty childish bullying and because he wants the throne." Like be for real š
So nice of HBO to reveal literally every second of Aemondās screen time via stills and clips ahead of tomorrowās episode, to save the Aemond girlies the trouble of watching. They are so kind.
"And...someone cut down the fucking ratcatchers."
Honestly, I'm DEVASTATED they've completely cut Nettles and are doing this whole Rhaena x Sheepstealer thing.
Not just because that means we will most likely never see Morning but because Nettles was such an important part of the story. Not just because of the battles she fought but because of her crucial role in Daemon and Aemonds battle and deaths.
Believe what you want, whether she was Daemon's lover or bastard daughter, it was Rhaenyra growing so paranoid after the two dragonseeds changed sides and ordering the ASSASSINATION of that young woman that pushed Daemon to go on that su*cide mission after Aemond.
With Nettles needing to flee and Daemon realising Rhaenyra doesn't trust him anymore and is willing to go after him/his lover/his daughter, he was willing to sacrifice himself and his dragon while bringing down Aemond & Vhagar.
Had it not been for that, the whole story would have been totally different. Perhaps the war would have raged on for far longer as well.
At this point it feels like they won't even do Rhaenyra's paranoia arch and her demise. That they won't have her order Addams arrest, imprison Corlys, order the assassination of Nettles, etc.
It feels like they've turned her into an empowered, always rational, never doing any wrong feminist-icon while her book version was SO much different.
That's what I liked so much about the books and the entire GoT/HotD universe; that there are no good people, only bad people and worse ones.
"Choose your favourite war criminal" type of stuff. That's totally missing from this show, in my opinion. It's all too black and white. It's almost... boring at this point.
At this point, I hold little hope for the rest of this show to get much better. Even George has (indirectly) spoken out against this change.
prince regent aemond targaryen you will always be famous
