Herd Immunity Is The Idea That If Enough People Get Immunized Against A Disease, They’ll Create Protection

Herd immunity is the idea that if enough people get immunized against a disease, they’ll create protection for even those who aren’t vaccinated. This is important to protect those who can’t get vaccinated, like immunocompromised children.

You can see in the image how low levels of vaccination lead to everyone getting infected. Medium levels slow down the progression of the illness, but they don’t offer robust protection to the unvaccinated. But once you read a high enough level of vaccination, the disease gets effectively road-blocked. It can’t spread fast enough because it encounters too many vaccinated individuals, and so the majority of the population (even the unvaccinated people) are protected.

Find out more here.

Well it’s about time I meet real love, I guess?

Your Perfect Mess.

Are we all collectively just going to ignore the term "shoot hole"

Broke: You’re too young to know what your sexuality is when you’re a teenager.

Woke: You are old enough to know what your sexuality is when you’re a teenager.

Bespoke: Everyone develops at different rates and while some people know what their sexuality is from a young age, other people need to take more time to figure it all out. Both of these are 100% valid and okay.

Why did “be critical of your media” turn into “find all its flaws and hate it” why did people become allergic to FUN

When people get pregnant, they will give up smoking, give up alcohol, give up coffee and soda, give up fondue and raw cheese, give up cold cuts and sushi, all because they have heard somewhere, from someone, that these things can be bad for the baby. They don’t know the research, haven’t looked at the studies, can’t talk about sample sizes and control groups. But their dedication to their future child’s safety is so strong, their caution is so overpowering, that they give up these things just in case.

So it baffles me when those same people will insist on spanking their kids.

Even when they are shown the research.

Regardless of what the experts in the field say.

No matter who says it.

Or how it is said.

People are so invested in this ability to hit their kids without judgement or consequence, that it absolutely confounds me.
