drives me INSANE to see people insisting taash should use aqun-athlok instead of non-binary. aqun-athlok is a qunari term that means born of one gender but living as another. The qunari who believe if you're a warrior you must be a man. The qunari who gender lock all their roles in society. You're telling me in good faith that these people would in any way recognize someone not being a man or woman. Do you think they've got nonbinary jobs? Yeah men fight women teach and nonbinary people make salami? Are you hearing yourself rn?
I just realized I haven’t promoted the Taash Trash tumblr community for Taash Week! I’ve been so distracted by all the excellent Taash content!
If you wish to share posts about them all year long, come join the Taash Trash tumblr community!
Now look at this cute screenshot of my Rook & Taash:
normal people going through a gender identity crisis: [to a trusted person] .....so i think i might be trans
taash dragon age going through a gender identity crisis: [to a heavily traumatized coworker] nice clothes, loser! are you wearing them to impress your mother????
taash dragonage if you read this I am free on Thursday night and would like to hang out. Please respond to this and then hang out with me on Thursday night when I’m free.
Anyway I had a dream last night that there was a part in the Taash romance where they decided that the Veilguard wasn’t killing enough gods. They asked Rook to go scrounge up an extra god to take down. Why limit ourselves to two, after all?? My Rook was very amenable to the request!
I didn’t even question that this isn’t canon for a good half hour after I woke up
On Friendship.
I find it infuriating that nobody seems to like Taash, but loves replacing them in mods for their romance scenes because they know it's hot.
Ya'll have noticed that nobody seems to be upset about the non-binary mayor of Treviso or Maevaris, right? The medic at the Warden Camp? Why is Taash getting all the flack for something already in the game with other characters?
Taash is non-white coded (I will die on that hill.)
Taash pushes back against the 'don't ask, don't tell' idea that queer folks shouldn't be "shoving it in your face."
Racism, Ableism & Homophobia and the inability to figure out or conceptualize nuance.
That's it. That's the post.
DAV is about trauma, bonds, and the importance of found family. It's not about Rook having a harem.
If you're unable to see adults work through their issues like people with emotional maturity beyond what a teenager would have (don't you even start if you're gonna throw shade at Taash) and have that make sense to you-- get therapy.
That's not an insult. Like, therapy helps you navigate your own emotions. How to support other people's emotions. How to see value in your beliefs even if they don't quite make sense to you. Even if you've been hurt. It's about everyone bringing uniqueness and value to a team through only what THEY can offer.
It's okay to have phobias. It's okay to be angry. It's okay to see a different future than what you thought was set out for you. It's okay to claim a new identity for yourself. To fight for family and subsequently let them go even when you don't want to. To accept familial trauma and move to change it. To let yourself be vulnerable and accept love, even if you're scared of losing it.
Get the fuck over book club and realize that is a throwaway joke to make you laugh at how goofy the companions can be. Jesus.
you guys keep hating on taash all you want meanwhile im over here getting tossed around like a sack of potatoes by the big beautiful qunari. more for me sorry you guys dont get it like i do.
I've come far enough in DaV to have all companions and I don't get why so many people are upset with Taash's writing.
Y'all rave about having queer characters in the game, but as soon as a queer character isn't kissing everyone's ass 24/7 they're suddenly badly written?
If anything, Taash is perfectly written for being a baby trans who's discovering themselves. I sure was 10 times more difficult when I had my own self-discovery period.
I've also seen people whinge about that "Nobody likes being a woman" line.
Yeah, because Taash is forcing themselves into the woman mold and don't realize they're allwed not to. And they're assuming everyone feels the same because it's not like they've had discussions about it with anyone.
Misunderstand me not, there's been a lot of valid criticism of DaV, but Taash not being a trans character that is palatable to cis people is not it.
