Why Symbolism With Flowers Is Important For Writers

Flowers can be used to foreshadow events or themes in a story. For example, a writer might use a white rose to foreshadow a character's death, or a red rose to foreshadow a romantic encounter.

Flowers can be used to represent characters' emotions or motivations. For example, a character who is feeling sad might be described as holding a wilted flower, or a character who is feeling passionate might be described as surrounded by roses.

Flowers can be used to create symbolism that is specific to a particular culture or region. For example, in some cultures, the lotus flower is a symbol of purity and enlightenment, while in other cultures, it is a symbol of death and rebirth.

fellowship crimes

pippin: steals. canonically, and without a doubt in my mind, does not give a shit. all the time. mostly shoplifting, extends to any building. restaurants, houses, etc. fuck it.

merry: steals when around pippin. mostly provides diversions. pippin steals more but merry steals bigger, more expensive items. only from large corporations.

legolas: trespassing. private property?? what’s that?? you WILL find him on government property, he WILL be 30 feet up in a tree.

gimli: steals rocks from national parks. “if it’s on the ground, it’s fair game.”

gandalf: accused of kidnapping the hobbits. pippin played into it, getting him detained. also arrested on “disturbing the peace” at the shire.

boromir: vigilante justice and assault. wrestled back his wallet from a pickpocket and punched him in the face.

aragorn: weapons with out permit, bringing weapons into public places without proper licenses. (“sir, you can’t bring your sword into this walmart.”)

frodo: unpaid library dues. forgot to return a book, felt bad so he avoided the library, and the fines exponentially increased. it has been 8 years. he drives to the next town over now for his books.

sam: propagation. not crimes, but sometimes he will take a leaf or two off of a pretty plant and always feels bad about it :(

For a friend, you are not a bad person. You are fantabulous and awesome

💙

I don’t know who needs to hear this today, but intrusive thoughts are basically your brain’s (sometimes very upsetting) way of saying “If there were two guys on the moon and one of them killed the other with a rock would that be fucked up or what?”

I’ve personally found that adding the “would that be fucked or what?” part in myself really helps put the more disturbing thoughts we sometimes get into perspective. Helps me say “yeah thar sure would be fucked up” and move on with my day.

It’s not a secret desire, it’s not something that only occurs to you because you’re a bad person. It’s just your brain deciding to process the fact that it knows an uncomfortable thing exists in the world by feeding it to you in an absurd “what if” with you as the main character.

First panel of four-panel comic. Aziraphale sits in an armchair in his shop, reading a book . Crowley, in his snake form, is draped over his shoulders and wrapped around his arm, sleeping peacefully. He is hissing in his sleep.
Second panel of four-panel comic. Aziraphale is looking up, confused and a little annoyed. Crowley, still a snake, has woken up and is squinting, sleepy and also annoyed. The bell over the shop door rings and a voice from off screen says, "Mr. Fell? You've missed the monthly meeting. Again." A doodle in the speech bubble indicates that the speaker is Mr. Brown.
Third panel of four-panel comic. Crowley has reared up and is hissing viciously at the off-screen Mr. Brown. Aziraphale looks surprised, but not frightened. Mr. Brown says, "Mr. Fell? Are you here--AHH." The scream trails off the screen.
Final panel of four-panel comic. Crowley has turned to look at Aziraphale with shiny puppy-dog eyes, awfully proud of himself. Aziraphale is smiling, amused and fond. He says, "Thank you, dear." From off screen, a door slams as Mr. Brown runs away.
