I was thinking about Anthony J Crowley, as all normal ones do, and how it is that he seems to exist alone outside the dichotomy of Heaven and Hell. Crowley wasn't obedient enough to be an angel, he couldn't toe the party line, he wasn't deferential enough to God or any authority. But he's also not cruel, or apathetic enough to be a demon; he's too soft for Hell.

So what is Crowley? Not an angel, not a demon ("Former demon," he says in s2). But he's more than what he's not. Crowley is outside the Heaven/Hell binary because of who he is, the one identity that sets him apart from all other demons and angels: Crowley is the Serpent of Eden. The snake in the garden was the instigator of choice, the inspiration to humans to use free will. That's who Crowley is, and when he inspired Eve to eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge, he aligned himself with the fate of humans.

Crowley doesn't belong to Hell, and he certainly doesn't belong to Heaven. Crowley belongs to humanity.

Tobi has an emergency urinary blockage. We have been in and out of hospitals all weekend and we finally found a place for him to stay for days to get the care he needs. We are now looking at $1200-$1600 in vet bills. I hate to ask but every bit of help counts and will bring Tobi one step closer to relief. Tobi is my emotional support cat. He means the world and beyond to me. He can help me out of a major depressive im episode with just laying next to me and purring his little heart out. He helps me calm from anxiety attacks. He is really the sweetest and most docile cat. Everyone at the vets office was cuddling up on him.

Gosh I just love book Legolas. He's immortal. He's a teenager. Elrond picks him instead of Glorfindel because he's average and won't draw attention to the Fellowship. He's the comic relief guy and resident Little Shit, but he can also shoot a Nazgul out of the sky in the pitch black like a one-man elf anti-aircraft defense system. He wants everyone to know that he's, like, really old. He forgets the task at hand because he wants to look at trees. His greatest qualities are that he can become friends with anyone and his loyalty is unending. He shows up to Valinor a century late with Starbucks in hand and his dwarf bestie at his side. Iconic.
