in case you wondering what twitters like rn the answer is "not good"
Never take back an ex that hurt you. They knew what they were doing and did it anyway. Deliberately hurting someone you supposedly 'love' is not right and it's not love.
Warnings: Slight angst, slight hurt/comfort, cheating boyfriend, arguing, break-up.
“You're an asshole!" You screamed at him. You were furious. You had just found out your boyfriend had cheated on you and now he was trying to give you weak excuses as if it made things okay.”
"Y/N, please. I'm sorry." He said.
You scoffed bitterly. "Oh, your sorry? So that makes everything okay, does it? No! It doesn't. You being sorry doesn't change the fact that you did it in the first place. In fact, I doubt your even sorry at all. Your just sorry you got caught. You know what? I'm sorry. I'm sorry I ever thought you were worth my attention in the first place."
"Y/N, I still love you. We can still be together," he pleaded desperately.
"Why....would I want a cheating scumbag like you? I think I'll pass thanks," you sneered in disgust. In all the anger and shouting, you hadn't noticed Castiel in the doorway, watching the scene intently. The Angel had heard you shouting and went to investigate. His eyes narrowed in anger at your boyfriend - or should you say ex boyfriend. There was no way in hell you were gonna take him back. Your boyfriend attempted to grab your wrist but you pulled away. "Ya know what the sad part is? I actually loved and trusted you and this is how you repay me?! By going behind my back and shagging some bimbo slut that probably couldn't find her way round anything even if she tried. No. I'm done with you." You turned to walk away but he grabbed you.
"Please, we can work this out."
"Why would I want to?" You snapped. "You betrayed me! You broke my trust and anything I held for you. It's men like you that cause the most pain to women. You claim to love em but at the end of the day, men like you seem to forget one thing. Cheating isn't an accident or a mistake. You don't slip and fall into another girl's fucking vagina! Getting the wrong thing from the shops is a mistake. Cheating is a choice, it's intentional. There is no if's or but's. You knew exactly what you were doing and how I'd feel if I found out and yet you did it anyway. If you loved someone then there's no way in hell you'd ever cheat on that person. Ever! Love is true and pure, it's being loyal, truthful and faithful. That's what love is. How the hell can you stand there and tell me you love me? Loving someone is how I loved you. I never once thought or ever considered doing to you what you've done to me. I don't need your fucking excuses! It's no excuse to cheat. Just get the hell out and stay the fuck away from me. We're done and I want nothing to do with you. Ever!"
This was the moment Castiel chose to reveal himself. He stepped forward, catching your attention. Your eyes widened. "Cas?"
Your boyfriend's eyes narrowed as he took in your expression then turned to look at the Angel. Castiel stopped beside you, his eyes soft and caring. Something your boyfriend didn't like. "Look, it was only for a few months, okay? It was just a bit of fun. Let's just go home."
Your jaw dropped. Was he serious? Not only did he cheat but he just expected you to forgive him and let it go like it was nothing and play happy families again. Well he can think again. "I'm not going anywhere with you. We don't have a home. That disappeared when you did what you did. You threw it all away for some trashy bitch. Now you can deal with the consequences. I meant what I said. We're done."
"I wouldn't be throwing anything away if you'd just get your ass home." He snapped. You lunged at him but Castiel held you back. You were fuming. How dare this bastard act as if he'd done nothing wrong! Although you didn't know it, Castiel was also furious. Furious at how your boyfriend was treating you. He was supposed to love and care for you but he wasn't. And he wasn't even remorseful about it. "Are you coming or not?" He asked impatiently.
"No, I'm not!" You snarled.
"Ya know, I wouldn't have had to cheat if you had just put out and given me what I wanted. It's your fault really," he stated, rolling his eyes.
That was it. You gave Castiel a dark look and he immediately let you go. Before your boyfriend could react, you were on him in seconds. The first punch broke his nose. The second hit landed on his eye. He would be sporting a black eye later but you didn't care. When he was unconscious and you were satisfied, you got up, breathing heavily. "Go to hell."
You walked away, leaving him on the floor. Castiel followed closely behind you. When you were far away enough, you broke down in tears. You fell into his arms when you felt his arms wrap around your waist from behind. "I'm sorry, Y/N. You didn't deserve that. I promise you'll find someone who will be loyal to you as you are to others and he'll look after you like you deserve," he vowed.
You shook your head sadly. "How would you know?"
"Because I already love you and I promise you I'll never hurt you. I'll wait a thousand years for you."
"I don't think you'll have to wait long."
Summary: Castiel breaks up with you to protect you but he can't quite seem to stay away from you. He sees you again months later only, he doesn't like what he sees... Chapter 1: Heartbroken "You can't do this. Not to me," you pleaded weakly, lips trembling. It was a fight just to hold back the tears in your red, watery eyes as he stood before you cold and unmoving. "I'm doing what needs to be done. This whole relationship should never have begun in the first place. I'm an Angel, your human, it can never work. You should move on because I don't need you." You could feel yourself breaking a little more with those words. He didn't need you? No, he was lying. He had to be. He loved you. If you could just get him to open up and tell you what was wrong then maybe..."Cas-" "Castiel," he interrupted, sounding almost resentful. His usually soft blue eyes were now blank and devoid of any feeling. "Why are you doing this to me? What did I do wrong?" You whispered. You no longer bothered to hold back the tears. You wanted him to see how much he was hurting you. "Goodbye," he said before turning and vanishing without another word. You stared at the spot where he once stood and fell to the floor, sobbing loudly when you realized he truly wasn't coming back. Dean was the one who found you. He crouched down and wrapped his arms around you in comfort. "Hey, what's wrong?" You sniffed tearfully and looked up into a pair of concerned green eyes. "Cas...broke up...with me," you grabbed his shoulders and buried your face into him. "He left me, Dean. He left me." Dean had to swallow back his anger towards the Angel. You weren’t the kind to willingly break down so easily in front of another but you needed him now and that took priority over everything else. Slipping an arm underneath you, he picked you up with ease and carried you back to your room, ignoring the questioning look on Sam’s face as you both passed him. He set you down and layer next to you until you finally cried yourself to sleep. His hands clenched. That Angel had a lot to answer for. You left the bunker not long after that against the wishes of the Winchesters. There was just no point in staying there. Your relationship was over and it was just too painful to stick around especially when you knew he would still pop in now and again to help the Winchesters. You couldn't deal with the pain of seeing him, the constant reminders that you weren't together anymore and the awkwardness of being in the same room in a sort of tired silence after he so cruelly broke your heart was unbearable. Neither brother wanted to see you go but it was better for everyone in the long run. You needed to purge yourself of your feelings for Castiel and you knew if you stayed it would only be a matter of time before certain questions haunting you would accidentally be released. Questions you knew you didn't want the answers to. Did he still think about you the way you did with him? Did he ask after you? Did he wonder where you were and what you were doing? Had he moved on? Did he ever actually love you or was it all pretend? Getting over him was so hard. You tried everything you could to get him out of your head and your heart but so far, it was having little affect. You tried going out and picking strangers up but that was only a temporary fix. You always felt worse afterwards and the wounds on your heart never seemed to heal. You tried forgetting him completely but that didn't last long. No matter what you did, you just couldn't forget. During the day, you still hunted but you were a silent shadow of yourself. At night you would cry yourself to sleep and wake up to nightmares. Over the next few weeks, your mood dampened, your patience grew thin and you could barely muster up the will to interact with people much less hunt and save them. It didn't help that you could still sort of feel Castiel's presence around you once or twice. But that was rediculus, wasn't it? After all, he left you. The presence left as quickly as it came so you put it down to your imagination and left it at that. Now if only you could convince your heart to do the same...
Well, Fire fighter dude certainly didn’t hold back on his thoughts.
Ikr? Depression is depression at the end of the day. After the way he's been treated by everyone in the past including the Winchesters themselves, it's really no surprise he feels that way.
You were a hunter who tended to expect the unexpected but even you didn't expect to see him after all this time. Castiel. You met Castiel years ago after Sam and Dean introduced you to each other and you had hit off right away. It was a while before the Angel admitted feeling something for you. You were together for a while before he ended it. You remember being devastated and hurt beyond repair as he told you he didn't want to be with you anymore, that it was interfering with his mission - you were interfering with his mission. It was totally unexpected so you hadn't been prepared for it. The hurt on your face must have shown because his eyes instinctively softened and he reached out to you but you ducked away from his touch and ran away. You hadn't seen him since. You never went back. You just left without a word, ditching your phones and cards so you couldn't be traced. You stopped praying and hunted alone. It happened at a bar. At first, you refused to date, refused to sleep with anyone else but over time you realized you couldn't put your life on hold anymore. Your relationship was over and you owed him nothing. You were free to do whatever or whoever you wanted. So you did. You always made sure it was only physical when you were with someone. When you arrived at the bar, you didn't bother to look around, choosing instead to walk up to the bar. The man behind the bar smiled. "What will it be sweetheart?" You smiled back. "Double vodka, please." The man turned his back to you to prepare your drink. "Comin right up." You felt a tap on your shoulder and turned around to see who it was. The guy was cute with dark hair and brown eyes. You gave a seductive smile. "See something you like cutie?" Surprisingly, the man blushed shyly. He gestured to the chair beside you. "May I?" Your smile softened. You loved a man with manners. "Sure." "What's your name? I'm Mike." "Y/N." "It's nice to meet you, Y/N." Castiel sighed for the hundredth time. He really didn't want to go to a bar and get 'laid' as Dean called it. He missed you. It had been about a year since he last saw you. He honestly hadn't expected you to run away and not come back but you had. After realizing he drove you away permanently, he did everything he could to find you so he could bring you back but he never did find you. Sam and Dean had tried to help but you were smart and ditched everything you had so you couldn't be found. The worst part was that you'd stopped praying to him. It left him feeling empty and lonely. His eyes swept the room and he froze, his blood ran cold. There sitting on a chair at the bar was you. And you were with another man. He watched as you smiled and laughed, your eyes soft. His heart sank and he stood there awkwardly not knowing what to do. This was the moment he had been waiting for but now that the moment was finally there he didn't know what to do. Dean stopped next to him. "Cas? What's wrong with you?" Castiel said nothing but pointed at you. They turned to look and were surprised to see you. "Y/N?" Sam whispered. Dean's eyes darkened in both anger and worry. Unfortunately, anger won out and Castiel wanted to hide as he stalked over to you. "Y/N!" You froze at the sound of a very familiar voice. You closed your eyes and hoped with everything you had that Castiel wasn't with him. Your heart sank when you saw your hope wasn't answered. You stiffened, causing Mike to look at you curiously. You turned to him and gave a fake smile. "Sorry to cut this short but I have to leave. I'll be here tomorrow though," you added hopefully. Mika chuckled and leaned in to kiss your cheek. "No problem. See you tomorrow." You watched as he left the bar before getting to your feet and walking past them impassively. You rolled your eyes as Dean grabbed you by the arm. "What?!" Dean's eyes narrowed dangerously. "What the hell were you thinking?! Leaving like that. You do realize we were looking for you for ages, right?" You shrugged. You didn't ask them to look. They should have known when Castiel told them what happened. That was why you hadn't felt guilty over it. "And what about Cas?" Your eyes hardened and you yanked your arm out of his grip. "What about him?" You sneered. "He was looking everywhere for you." You scoffed bitterly. "Really? I find that hard to believe. And even if he did I couldn't care less. What he does is not my problem. Not anymore." You gave one last cold look at him before storming out of the bar, leaving Dean confused. "Alright, spill it!" Dean barked at Castiel. The Angel looked anywhere but at him. "Spill what?" "Why did Y/N act like she was surprised we were looking for her? And why didn't she believe you were looking? She said she doubted it. What did she mean?" Castiel stayed silent. "Cas, man. We can't help you until you tell us what's going on," Sam said sympathetically. "I told her I didn't want to be with her anymore. I told her she was interfering with my mission. She ran away and I haven't seen her since," he admitted. Dean was furious. "Are you serious?! You said that? Well, no wonder she left and didn't wanna be found. This would have been good to know before." Castiel's head snapped up. "Why? So you could stop looking for her?" He demanded angrily. "You would have liked that, wouldn't you?" "I'M not the one that threw her away like trash!" Dean spat back. "I did it to protect her," Castiel argued weakly. Dean snorted. "Some protection. You DO realize for all we knew she could have been captured, tortured or killed by now. And all cause she ran away and we wouldn't have known." Castiel's jaw clenched but he didn't say anything. The older Winchester was right. He saw that now but it was too late. He didn't think you would take him back. Not now. He stepped back, his eyes glistening with unshed tears and he vanished without another word.
Makes me feel less guilty when u put it this way.
We are forced to live in a system that steals from us daily, Kill snitch culture.
The more I think about it the more the cycle of D*stiel is literally so exhausting. Dean mistreats and trivialises Cas —> Cas dies, usually after sacrificing himself for Dean —> Dean feels guilty over Cas’ death, causing depression and self-directed anger —> Cas is revived, Dean’s guilt diminishes and he plays nice with Cas for a brief time —> Cas inevitably stops acting like the idealised Stepford version of him that existed in Dean’s head while Cas was gone, which irritates Dean —> Dean mistreats and trivialises Cas. So forth and so on. There is genuinely nothing romantic about any of this.
