Alex de Waal has covered famines in Ethiopia, Sudan, Somalia. His prediction on Gaza:

"most intense famine since World War II."

"Even if the shooting ends today and the aid trucks begin to roll, the dying will carry on for some time"

We are about to witness in Gaza the most intense famine since the second world war | Alex de Waal

Gaza’s health crisis has its own dreadful momentum. Even if the shooting ends today and the aid trucks begin to roll, the dying will carry o

Gaza is already the most intense starvation catastrophe of recent decades. The death toll from hunger and disease may soon surpass the body count from bombs and bullets. The Famine Review Committee reported this week that Gaza is facing “imminent famine”. The Integrated Phase Classification (IPC) system, set up 20 years ago, provides the most authoritative assessments of humanitarian crises. Its figures for Gaza are the worst ever by any metric. It estimates that 677,000 people, or 32% of all Gazans, are in “catastrophic” conditions today and a further 41% are in “emergency” conditions. It expects fully half of Gazans, more than 1 million people, to be in “catastrophe” or “famine” within weeks. A parallel report from the Famine Early Warning System Network of the US Agency for International Development sounds the same alarm. It is the clearest warning that the network has given at any time in its 40-year history. A rule of thumb is that “catastrophe” or “famine” conditions mean a daily death rate from from hunger or disease of two people out of 10,000. About half are children under five years old. The arithmetic is simple. For a population of 1 million, that is 200 deaths per day, 6,000 per month.

Is It “minors,” AP? Not Children? Not 7 Year Old Hind Begging The Operator On The Phone To Take Her

Is it “minors,” AP? Not children? Not 7 year old Hind begging the operator on the phone to take her away from the corpses of her siblings, shot to bloody pieces in front of her? Not the little boy caught on camera saying he’s at least grateful he didn’t get martyred while bleeding from a severe leg injury? Not the two little girls dead because shrapnel fell on the encampments in Rafah from Israeli bombings and fucking killed them in front of their parents? We’re calling the little kids Israel forces murdered in cold blood minors now?

Save the Children report on Palestinian children in Israeli military detention

Palestinian children in the Israel military detention system face physical and emotional abuse, with four out of five (86%) of them being beaten, and 69% strip-searched, according to new research by Save the Children. Nearly half (42%) are injured at the point of arrest, including gunshot wounds and broken bones. Some report violence of a sexual nature and some are transferred to court or between detention centres in small cages, the child rights organisation said.

Hello Everyone!

Today is the first day of the weeklong strike for a ceasefire in Gaza.

I have realized that I do not think the message has spread far, at least on this website. This might be due to the lack of internet in Gaza, it has been down for days. Not much can be said by the citizens there, it's like some people forgot about them. I encourage all of you to share this post, or make your own, letting everyone know about this strike. This is something that should transcend the aesthetic of your blog. My blog was a gimmick blog, but for this week, it is a blog for spreading information and awareness.

Bisan Odwa (@wizard_bisan1 on instagram) has called for this strike. She is a journalist from Gaza, who has been experiencing this horrid violence for 15 weeks. 107 days. 2568 hours.

These were the images she posted, calling for this strike:

Reblog this, share this. Do not stop until every supporter of Gaza knows what we must do this week.

Free Palestine, Free Gaza, Ceasefire now!

1 in 50 Children in Gaza Have Been Killed or Injured by Israel in Just 6 Months
Truthout
On average, Israel has killed about 75 children in Gaza each day since October.

Israel’s genocidal assault has killed or injured over 2 percent of Palestinian children in Gaza over the course of just six months, Save the Children has reported. In the months since October 7, Israel’s assault has killed over 13,800 children in Gaza and injured over 12,000 children, according to counts by UN officials and the Gaza Ministry of Health cited by Save the Children. This means that Israel has killed or injured at least 25,800 children in Gaza, or over 1 in every 50 children living in the region before the assault.

Previous reports have found that Israel is killing and injuring children at a rate that is unprecedented compared to any modern conflict. On average, Israel has killed about 75 children in Gaza each day over the course of the last six months, while many of the children who have survived have sustained lifelong injuries; an average of over 10 children are having one or both legs amputated every day in Gaza. Doctors in the region say that Israeli snipers have also been targeting children.
