and like this and also the fact that so many of the engineering jobs here are for huge defense contractors like Lockheed Raytheon Boeing general atomic etc and because of reality there’s no real way to separate ‘this is a cool machine’ from ‘the people who are making these machines are furthering US imperialism and so many ppl I know are going to work for them rationalizing it like ‘if I don’t do it someone else will’ or just turning a blind eye you know that company that runs that cool fusion research reactor? they also make the predator drone and their recruiters on campus talk for a few minutes about the fusion stuff then spend the rest of the time trying to get all these young people to help them make drones
