“Y’know, I’ve…actually never been down to the City.”
Cayde snaps his head to stare at Echo with wide eyes, looking at her as if she had just admitted to having snuck a rogue Hobgoblin into the Tower.
“No way!” He exclaims incredulously.
“I just never found the time I guess,” Echo replies with a nonchalant shrug, eliciting a disbelieving scoff from the exo beside her.
“Well, now I am obligated by the Hunter Code to treat you to a visit to the city.”
She scoffs and cocks her head to one side, “…since when did we have a Hunter Code?”
“Since I just made one up not four seconds ago, and it requires the Hunter Vanguard to be accompanied by one lucky Guardian to his favorite ramen restaurant,” he remarks definitively, poking the Nightstalker in the center of her chest as he winks at her, the exo shaking her head at him.
“Oh?” She flashes him a small, intrigued smile as she waves his hand away.
“Yeah, trust me, absolutely no offense to our buddy up here—they’re super great, one of my favorite shops—but the ramen from Saka’s Soup, the shop down in the City, is GODLY,” Cayde’s mouth lights up in a chuckle as he lays back on the dock of the Annex they were currently sitting on, gesticulating with his hands as he continues talking, “Especially the spicy ramen in the soy sauce broth with the ground up pork and garlic chives mmhmhmhmmm-” he lets out a somewhat dreamy, robotic whine, running his hands down his metallic face.
“DAMN, I’m gettin’ hungry just thinkin’ about it, and I don’t even have a stomach to be hungry with!”
The verdant-eyed Exo chuckles beside him, tilting her head to the side. “Mmmm, and who’s the lucky Guardian this Hunter Vanguard is going to request to accompany him then, hmm?” She questions with a small, knowing smile, glancing at him with mischievous eyes.
Cayde flashes her a wide grin, eyes bright. “Take a guess.”
“Ikora.”
“Mmmm, no.”
“Zavala?”
“HAH, absolutely not. Zavala practically only exists in the Tower, I don’t think he could leave if he tried.”
That joke gets a small laugh out of his fellow Hunter, Cayde’s chest welling up with pride at the fact he elicited such a noise from her.
“Hmm….Amanda?” She continues to guess after her giggling dies down.
“Close, but no.”
She shrugs at him. “Well…I’m stumped.”
The Hunter Vanguard sits up, giving her a sly look.
“I’ll give you some hints: she’s an Exo Hunter, just like yours truly-“ he announces proudly as he puts a hand to his puffed up chest. “-she’s rather quiet and reserved, always lurkin’ in the back corner of the room. That is, until you break through her icy shell, and then she suddenly becomes the second funniest person you’ve ever met, the first of course being me-”
Echo scoffs and rolls her eyes, shaking her head in mock disappointment. Cayde could tell she was still smiling, however.
“And…” his voice and gaze suddenly soften as he looks over at her, the arrogant expression he had been wearing melting into a gentle and sincere appreciation.
“She doesn’t show it, but she has a nasty tendency to think little of herself—she puts so much pressure on herself, tryin’ to live up to the legacy her past self left behind, and then she beats herself up when she falls short.”
He pauses for a moment, blinking.
“…Lotta ‘selfs’ in that sentence, wow.” He chuckles to himself, before shaking his head and returning to his original train of thought. “Anyways- despite all that, I just want her to know…” he scoots a little closer to Echo, causing her to look up at him in surprise, their faces now mere inches apart from one another.
“…that I, for one, think she’s pretty spectacular—especially when considering all the shit she’s had to deal with recently? I’m amazed at how she’s still pushin’ forward,” he lets out a heartfelt laugh, “And not only that, but she is one talented as hell Nightstalker, to the point where—and don’t tell ANYONE else I said this or you’ll end up with a buncha jealous Hunters on your hands-“ he warns with a comical wagging of his finger, before his sincerity returned. “….out of all of my Hunters that I’ve ever had the wonderful pleasure of trainin’-”
“She’s gotta be my favorite.”
If Echo’s face plates could heat up, they would be doing so at the current moment as she locks eyes with the one and only Cayde-6, her Hunter Vanguard who had just admitted to her being his favorite.
She swears her servos just skipped a circuit as she stared into his glowing blue eyes, now gazing back at her with the kindest and most genuine expression she has ever seen him give anyone.
“….Oh, and also her name starts with an ‘E’ and ends with ‘cho-3.’”
“Well THAT’S not a hint, you just gave me the answer!” Echo blurts out in a flustered panic as she throws her hands up in exasperation, causing Cayde to erupt into a fit of hearty laughter. He nearly falls onto his back as he clutches his stomach, his contagious laugh echoing throughout the Annex whilst his fellow Hunter lets out an embarrassed huff and indignantly crosses her arms, narrowing her eyes at the chortling man.
This….stupid….arrogant….golden hearted man with the most amazing laugh….
“So, whaddya say, partner?” Cayde holds out a hand out to her as his laughter dies down, his grin as wide as ever.
“Are ya ready to join me on our mission to the City’s best ramen restaurant?”
Can I ask for Destiny angst with Cayde-6 and his awoken s/o who's reminiscing all the years they have been together and the last time they spoke before Cayde-6 died?
It’s strange without him. Colder than the deepest parts of the Reef, your homeland, and even darker than a black hole. Petra no longer looks you in the eye, she shares your grief deeply but would never truly understand the depths of your black sea of sorrow. Few memories float around more than ever, some more cherished than others but even the chance to have him visit you in your dreams are little miracles on their own.
The field is adorned with wildflowers who have visiting bees and butterflies daintily hovering above them. His arms encircle your waist like an anchor the silver-blue metal of his hands a sharp contrast from the hues of your awoken skin that emits an icy cold. His gentle humming is relaxing more so than it should be but it is rare to get him out of the tower and to have him all to yourself. “I miss you.” The words that you said to him on that cliff were different. That day you were confessing an undying love that wove deeply into your soul over the span of several years. A love that is shared. Two guardians, one heart. Yet in this vision a picture perfect memory that places you back in time. Cayde squeezes your hands to let you know that he heard you.
“I know but you have to be strong. For them.” Face nuzzled in your hair his words a muffled but you make out the words just fine like you did so long ago. Only the message isn’t the same. Just like that, the image is gone slipping through your fingertips like sand floating away on a breeze.
Guardians are the least of your worries in this moment. Your head against his chest listening to the steady drumbeat of his heart. This is your favorite memory of him, wrapped safely in his embrace swaying gently to the music as the Crimson Day festivities are in full swing. You’ve been bonded together for years always at each other’s sides no matter the reason. There was never one without the other, no Cayde without his Queen of Hearts. You had held his heart in your hands but have always worn yours on your sleeve. “I love you.” Cayde pressed his forehead against your’s when you moved in to kiss him, savoring the feel of your cool lips against the metal of his skin.
“I love you now and forever. Don’t you forget it.” You never did and never will.

Genji fluff headcanons
- Genji tends too hold a movie night for the both of you, with your favorite snacks and drinks.
- he always tries to make a pillow fort but, he instead ends up getting stuck in the blankets. He has to wait for you to help him.
- he ALWAYS puts on disney movies. Its a must <3
- you guys have watched The little mermaid 6 times now…
- if he catches you sleeping during the movie, he’ll do the classic feather and shaving cream prank.
- he’ll feel bad after so he cuddles with you <3
It was 1 in the morning and you were getting ready to go to sleep, when you got an unexpected call “who the hell is calling me at this ungodly hour...?”, you groaned. You wearily picked up the phone and a familiar name popped up ‘green cyborg ninja dude’ you immediately perked up and answered it.
“hellooo.”
‘Hey.’
“Is everything ok?”
‘Yeah I’m ok’
he pauses.
‘Except this one tiny thing.’
“And that is?”
‘I may or may not have been trying to build a pillow fort for movie night but have gotten stuck in the blankets.’
“Again?”
‘Yeah..’
“It’s ok I’ll come over and get you out.
‘Thanks, I love you.’
“love you too idiot.”
You hung up the phone and got ready “Why is he setting up a movie night right now?”, you wonder. As soon as you arrived, you opened the door and saw Genji rolled up in a purple blanket next to an unfinished pillow fort, “Finally you’re here!” he let out a sigh of relief.
You chuckle to yourself and roll him to the other side, “Heyyy what are you doing?” Genji mumbles. “Making sure you stay in that blanket forever, I’m gonna watch The little mermaid all by myself” you teased. “Noo please!” he pouts, “fine, but only this one time”. You roll him out of the violet blanket, and he hugs you. “Thank you i thought you were gonna leave me in there all night” he fake cries, you feel a smile forming on your face “you know I never would do that Genji”.
“Yeah you love me too much”, he grins, you roll your eyes, “Now can you help me finish building the pillow fort, I wanna watch tangled with you.” you agree instantly. After a long 15 minutes of struggling and confusion, the fort was completely set up, it had both of your favorite snacks, drinks, pizza and some stuffed toys, “Finally we can relax” he crawls into the fort and sits down, you follow along and sit next to him, laying your head in his shoulder. He eagerly opens up the movie and moves closer to you with your hand in his.
As the movie went on you slowly drifted into sleep and of course, genji noticed, he decided this was the best time to take revenge on you for teasing him. He carefully placed you onto the stuffed toys and began to initiate his “brilliant” plan, he came back with a feather and shaving cream from his room. Genji sprayed shaving cream onto your hand and tickled your cheek with the feather. “what is that”, you mumble, half asleep, but you continued to disregard it anyway. He tickled your face even more until you couldn’t ignore it anymore and scratched your face, only to be met with a weird foamy texture. “What the hell genji!”, you yelped with the shaving cream now covering half your face. Genji bursted out laughing when he saw the look on your face while you glared at him, “You have to admit it was funny!”, he smiled, handing you a towel. you snatch the towel away from him and wipe your face. “You’re a coward and history will forget you.”, you huffed. “I’m sorryy!” he said, kissing your forehead, “I’ll give you cuddles to make up for it.” Genji said, making him self comfortable in the blankets. “I would like that…” you said, in a tired tone. he kisses you again and wraps his arm around you, pulling you under the covers, falling asleep with you as the movie kept playing.

SPOILER WARNING
FOR THE FINAL SHAPE ENDING
This will be my Guardian x Cayde
i was sobbing while i was writing this, enjoy!
They did it, they won!
The witness no more! Star was releaved as she held her gun with one hand, and her left one held out as her Ghost floated up.
Her Ghost is cracked up, and the noises he made, made her worry as she watched him suddenly lost its shell and all of a sudden she stumbled back, gasping for air.
She.. lost her light- but then she noticed her ghost fell to the ground as she yelped- "No!" she fell to her knees and held her ghost-
Nonono.. they cant be gone no..
When all of a sudden an enemy growled out from afar and shot her-
Making her gasp and fall to her side in pain.
The Ex hunter Vanguard rushed in and shot the falled enemy in the face and worriedly look over to his favorite Hunter-
He rushed over to the girl and quickly knelt next to her, his concern for her well being evident on his metalic face. "Are you okay?" he asked urgently, his gaze taking in her state. He could tell she was gravely injured, her body already weakened by the shot.
She yelped in pain as she held onto her lightless, unresponsive ghost as she is bleeding out.
she cant be healed. not witouth her ghost.
His metalic heart ached at the sight of her suffering, the fear and helplessness in her voice tugging at his heartstrings. He knew there was no way to heal her, all of this felt like a sick joke, like they just swapped places in the Prison of Elders.
"Easy, easy," he said softly, his voice gruff but filled with a gentle concern as he rested a hand on her shoulder. "Just... try to stay with me, okay?"
he carefully helped taking her helmet off to help her breath, maybe a little bit more easier.
she sobbed as she held onto his arm, her blood staining his armor as she held her ghost out.
"My Ghost- he- please-" she coughed , the bullet hit her chest, the irony of the situation is unbearable..
Cayde's mechanical heart sank as he watched her struggling to hold onto both life and her fallen ghost, her body weakening with every passing moment. He held onto her, his grip tight and steady as he tried to provide what little comfort he could.
all of a sudden they.. are in a white void of the Traveler.. just like when he first saw sundance, listening to the light.
The strange transition to the white void of the Traveler startled him, his eyes darting around. The Traveler's glowing, endless light filled the space, and for a moment, Cayde felt... a presence.
Sundance.
What she said.. 'whats come from the lught, returns to the light' it makes more sense..
Cayde's eyes saddened as the words of Sundance echoed in his mind, the realization hitting him like a Arc punch in the gut. The Traveler's presence seemed to intensify, as if acknowledging his thoughts.
Maybe.. he can save Star.. oh but she'll hate the idea.. of course she will. She just got the hope that he's back.. but she'll be ok.
He looked down at Star, her grip on him still firm as she fought to stay alive. He knew what he needed to do.
He's made out of light.. his light can save her Ghost.
And her ghost can save her.
The sound of her coughing up blood made him hold her close as she sobbed 'i dont want to leave you.'
Her words cut through him like a knife, her desperation and fear palpable in her weak, trembling voice. He couldn't bear the thought of letting her end like this, not now, not ever.
"I know, I know," he whispered soothingly, his grip on her tightening as he tried to keep her grounded, to give her something to hold onto. "I won't let you die."
He made up his mind then and there. He would save her, no matter the cost.
With a boost of determination he wrapped an arm around her to keep her close to him, and his other hold onto her Ghost with her, their fingers almost lock together.
As he held her against him, her body trembling with every labored breath, he couldn't help but think of the words he'd wanted to say to her all this time.
A pang of regret stabbed at his heart as he knew time was running out. He needed to say it, needed to make sure she knew.
"Star," he began, his voice thick with emotion. "There's something I never told you... something I've always wanted to say..."
A pained gasps left her as she looks up at him with pained gaze of wonder, but also with tears in her eyes. "C-Cayde-"
He met her gaze, his expression filled with a mixture of determination and vulnerability. Her breathless gasp and tear-filled eyes tugged at his nonexistant heartstrings, but he knew he had to say what needed to be said.
"I... I care about you, Star," he confessed, his voice barely above a whisper. "More than just a fellow Guardian. You... you've become so much more to me...but you already knew that didn't you?" his face plated shifted with a saddened smile.
Her eyes widened as she gripped on him, almost tearing into his armor. "N-no-" she coughed trying to breath-
"Wait n-no stop- i just got you back-" the sudden realization made her struggle and try to get out of his arms but it just ended up with her in too much pain as she couldnt move- "please d-dont-" not like begging him would make him stop.. knowing what he's planning to do and she dont want him to, but she dont have a choice when she's the one dying in his arms now.
He held her tightly, her attempts to struggle against him makes him feel guilty. but he have to remind himself that he would do this for her in a heartbeat.
He could see the guilt in her eyes, her desperation and panic clear on her face.
"Please, listen to me," he pleaded, his voice urgent and filled with anguish. "I won't let you die, not like this. This is my choice. My light."
His voice determined brave, as the grip on her hand with her Ghost in it tightened, aswell as his hand on her arm to hold her, his mwtal face rest on her forehead.
He knew what it would cost.
"Cayde-" she crocked gasping as she tried to grasps some air as it gets more and more hard to do so.
oh.. how caring she is.. its one of the reasons why she is his favorite..
He gently cupped her face in his robotic hand, letting go of her Ghost carefully, his thumb stroking her cheek gently as he tried to steady her breathing. The sight of her struggling to breathe, the pain etched on her face, tore at his very soul.
"My precious Diamond," he whispered, his voice softened with emotion. "If there's even a tiny chance to save you... you know damn well I will do it."
Leaning his head closer he rested against her forehead, careful with his horn. "Let me do this for you."
Devotion, bravery, sacrifice...
Its almost annoying to know the Guardian tenets all remind her of him.
Devoted, to stay by her side no matter the cost.
Brave, for he is willing to jump into dangerous situations. Literally.
Sacrafice.. thsts always his thing. Willing to take the bullet or blame for you no matter what. Either from an enemy or from an angry Zavala.
that's him-
Now his Death once more.
She will mourn him again.. but maybe she'll embrace the fact he will live with her in the light. he's never truly gone when he lives inside her heart, and everything else he left behind.
"Noo.." she cracked as tears run down her cheeks like waterfalls. Its unfair, she already have a hard time breathing, now she need to try breath trough her sobs.
Her tears broke his heart, each one feeling like a dagger to his soul. But he couldn't back down, not when her life was at stake. His sacrifice was the only way to save her, and he was ready to make it.
"Hey..." he whispered, his voice filled with a mixture of determination and sorrow. "You know i'm never truly gone..And when you miss me," he held his broke Ace to his original Ace he left behind for her. "Just remmember, you bound to me now." he cracked a half joke with a breathy chuckle, resting his face to hers. "Wife of mine."
She leaned into him, hardly able to fight against him as she clinged onto him with one hand, and her other held her ghost.
one of his hand holding her body safely against his chest, the other returning to holding her ghost within her hand.
She felt more weaker in his arms and his grip tightened on her to keep her there.. alive..
With one glance up He saw a transparent version of his Sundance nodding at him..
Then he looked at Star and close his eyes once more, then open them as he felt himself flicker away slowly.. his light.. embraces her ghost with a blinding light..
"I love you... always will.." her silent confession was in her slow breath as she slowly loosing her vision from blood loss.
As his body shimmered and flickered, the light from within him slowly transferring to her ghost, he felt an aching in his chest. He held her gently, his hand brushing strands of hair away from her face.
Her whispered confession echoed in his ears, a bittersweet pride in his heart. He smiled weakly at her words, his voice barely audible under the weight of his sacrifice.
"I know," he murmured, his voice determined with a mix of sorrow and acceptance. "I do too.."
as she gazed up with a breath caught in her lungs painfully, she noticed how the traveler light thats surrounds them is covering Cayde up, like the light giving him wings, almost resembling an angel..
wich made her eyes sparkle.
Her grip on her ghost and the remaining part of Cayde tightened as she forced herself to burry her face in his neck one last time..
She wished this was just a sick nightmare and she will wake up in her bed with his Ace of Spades gun, and just ended up crying herself to sleep once more reading his journal..
but she knows she isnt dreaming.. she knows this is real.. and she hated it but she knews that he had to do this.. he wouldnt have stayed anyway.. she know he never wanted to hurt anyone by being back.
but the moment they shared she'll treasure it forever..
watching him flicker into pices and loosing his form she used her last strenght and kiss his cheek before she lost her sight.
As her lips pressed against his cheek, a wave of tenderness washed over him. It was a simple gesture, but in that moment, it held a world of meaning. He could feel the love and caring behind her touch, and in return, his own affection for her flared within him once more.
"My favorite little Light."
He held her tighter, his arms encircling her body as he felt his form start to fade away completely. The light enveloped him, lifting him away into the Traveler's embrace.
The white voide no more. they are back at the battle field they killed the Witness.
Suddenly her Ghost comes back to life gasping, look around and find his guardian on the ground unmoving.
"Guardian!" it exclaimed, floating to her side. "Hold on, please!"
It hovered over her motionless body, its tiny form thrumming with light energy as it tried to heal her wounds, doing what he always done, bribg his Guardian back.
she suddenly gasped as she clung to her chest, he resurected her.
she was breathing a little heavily as she looked around and see her Ghost floating above her..
"You okay.." she sadly smiled reaching up and hold onto her small companion.
Her ghost gently nuzzled against her hand, its small frame shivering slightly.
"There you are," it replied with a bit of relief in its voice. "what.. happened to you?"
He few closer to her to look at her face with a hit of worry.
she sat up and realized she had something on her chest... Its..
Cayde's harmonica.
oh..
Her fingers traced the outline of the harmonica, her touch gentle yet mournful. The sight of the Diamond and Ace mark on it was like a bittersweet reminder of the sacrifice he had made.
Her tears fell onto the harmonica, their trails glistening on the surface like tiny, sorrowful diamonds.
Her ghost hovered closer, resting against her shoulder as she clutched the harmonica tightly. He could feel her pain and grief, mirroring his own sadness at the loss of her former Hunter Vanguard.
Without a word, the ghost pressed its tiny frame against her cheek in a gesture of comfort.
She looked down at the harmonica in her hand, tears still welling up in her eyes as she mourned his loss. But as she held the instrument tightly, a sense of determination stirred within her.
She may have lost him, but she still had a part of him. She would carry on.
For him.

Heyyy! I saw your post and was wondering if you could write some Genji headcanons (or one shot) of him developing feelings for a Fem! Reader who’s restoring his body from cybernetic back to human?
I’d be happy to! Really dig this concept! I feel like i could definitely do a bigger, oneshot ficlet on this, but i’d like to be able to devote more time to it when i’m less busy. For now, i’ll write some HC’s.
(warnings; small spicy section at the end)
‘ He has a strange relationship with his body. Over the years, it’s been relentlessly poked and prodded, upgraded and altered, lorded and abhorred; and Genji has had to learn to live with inhabiting a weapon of a body that is not private, that does not and never will belong to him. ‘
I’m going out on a limb and saying that this takes place after current canon, some years in the future. Mainly because I can’t see Genji getting rid of his cybernetic body until the conflict and his time serving Overwatch is well and truly done.
It’s a very big, life altering choice he makes for the sake of his own inner peace, something he thinks about extensively and consults both Zenyatta and Angela on. When he finally makes the decision, and gets the go ahead from medical professionals, Genji is very much ready to say goodbye to this body.
It’s a gradual, painstaking process. You’re at the forefront of the medical team which will be overseeing Genji’s transformation. Angela had recommended you herself, and Genji has often heard her speak highly of you; this bright eyed, brilliant medical graduate with a slightly overzealous eagerness to help those in need.
You’re brought on board some years after the recall to specialise in helping out the veterans. Assisting Reinhardt with physical therapy. Fine tuning Sojourn’s prosthetics. You practically jump at the chance to assist with Genji’s case.
Genji finds your dedication... admirable.
Admirable, and perhaps a little bit stupid. He knows that this is a big job to take on for someone so green, and privately he’s rather wary on whether or not you’ve got the stomach for it.
He’s a little bit tired and jaded at this point, and the man just wants to finally settle down for a life of peace, to properly reconcile with his brother and see where the remainder of his life takes him. Your enthusiasm is refreshing for him, though, and while he’s friendly but guarded, he can’t help but inevitably warm up to you the more time he spends in your presence.
The job demands late nights, extensive study and almost constant regular interaction with each other. Nightly visits become a thing, and it’s at these meet-ups that a sort of tentative bond begins to unfold between you:
It all starts with a text message from you; sent at some ridiculous hour when you’ve lost track of time, asking Genji if he’d be able to stop by to discuss his bloodwork results. Genji himself is a notorious night owl, but he’s a little baffled to see the message pop up on his holopad at 1:30AM. This is the hour for late night meditation, or secret rendezvous between lovers - not for medical appointments!
He worries that perhaps something might’ve flagged up seriously wrong in his bloodwork for you to be alerting him so early in the morning. Yet another slightly more ridiculous notion - that perhaps is him getting a little presumptuous - almost entertains the idea that this might be a booty call. Genji quickly puts that thought to bed. Whatever your intentions are, he decides to humour you, throwing on a hoodie and texting you back that he’ll be there right away.
He enters to find you, a little ragged looking, empty cups of coffee and papers strewn around you at the table. You hardly even seem to notice him coming in, eyes framed with drowsy bags, still staunchly focused on the papers in front of you.
Genji clears his throat with a metallic sort of whirr, announcing himself.
“Pulling an all nighter?”
You flinch at the sound of his voice, startled, blinking like an owl. It takes you a split moment to shake yourself off, run a hand through your frazzled hair, and offer him a coffee-breath smile.
“Genji! You came.”
“I did,” Genji affirms, “although it’s a strange hour for a medical examination, I have to say.”
You merely stare at him in confusion for a moment, then let your gaze drift to the clock. Your eyes widen again in shock, smacking yourself on the forehead. Genji watches, bemused, as your expression appears to cycle between horror and embarrassment.
“Oh my God, is that the time? I’m so sorry, I’ve been so caught up I must’ve lost track - I didn’t even notice!”
“I thought it might’ve been an emergency,” Genji shrugs, “so I came anyway.”
“Oh, no, not at all! Your bloodwork came back fine. I just thought I should follow up with it. I was, um... under the impression that it was much earlier in the day, was all,” you explain sheepishly. You dip your head reverently, and get back to profusely apologising. “God, I’m so sorry. I must have woken you up. Please, forgive me. Feel free to go on back to your room, we can reschedule this for another... more appropriate time.”
He chuckles, brushing off your concerns good-naturedly. Maybe he should feel a little annoyed, but instead, Genji just feels a smile itching at his mouth, and a spike of almost affectionate pity for you. In a swift, gentle breeze of movement, he pulls out the plastic waiting chair and seats himself politely at your side.
“Do not worry. I am usually awake at this hour. I don’t settle down for the night till around 2AM. Might as well put it to good use, eh?”
From then on, Genji makes it a habit to devote some of his late nights to visiting the medical ward; patiently undergoing tests or simply keeping you company as you arduously sift through your notes. He’ll bring you words of encouragement, food and beverages; fruit bowls from the cafeteria, a nice, cold bottle of water from the vending machine. He makes sure you’re not overworking yourself and scolds you when you’re spreading yourself too thin.
Purely professional talk slowly but surely becomes personal. You chatter ranges from talking about your day, silly anecdotes, rememberings of times past, or abstract, sleep-deprived deep talks about the meaning of life and the universe.
It’s unavoidable for you, becoming close with Genji. Naturally, such an intimate procedure requires a particular closeness with the patient. Knowing him in every minute aspect: clued in on every bodily symptom, even the uncomfortable but necessary parts such as bowel movements or fluctuations in sex drive.
Genji takes all this in relatively good stride. Lord knows the poor guy is used to it. He has a strange relationship with his body. Over the years, it’s been relentlessly poked and prodded, upgraded and altered, lorded and abhorred; and Genji has had to learn to live with inhabiting a weapon of a body that is not private, that does not and never will belong to him, really.
Still, he finds himself getting a little bit flustered, sometimes, especially when questions or medical procedures entail intimate parts of his physiology. And it seems this is a likewise phenomenon for you. He watches your cheeks flush a deep red, avoiding his eye and apologising profusely for the invasion. And Genji realises, then, that he finds your sudden shyness exceptionally endearing.
This is it; the first symptom of a larger, underlying problem. This is when he begins to suspect that his feelings for you have begun to take a turn from the professional to something a little more complicated.
Once upon a time, Genji Shimada had been a playboy, in all respects of the word. Neglecting his clan duties for frivolous things, he toted around a different girl on his arm every night and flirted with practically anything that moved.
That had been a long time ago, of course, and he’s a much different man now. Age and hardship have tempered his unruly nature. But all of a sudden, with this newfound, rose-tinted attraction, he finds himself feeling and behaving like a teenage boy again. Some of the aspects of his younger self have been miraculously resurrected.
He can’t help himself - any chance he gets he’s firing cheeky, playful quips at you. Bringing you food to share or coffee on your lunch and tea breaks, offering you his arm on your casual afternoon strolls. It feels like a wonderful reward to coax a smile out of you, or see your face heat up with a flush of bashfulness. It’s even more exhilarating when you reciprocate his flirtatious banter.
The tension between you fast becomes unbearable. The meeting of eyes and physical touch tends to linger just a little too long; charged, intimate. In spare moments you accompany each other everywhere. People start to notice your closeness and begin to suspect.
At dinner, Hanzo narrows his eyes and pointedly asks him what ‘the nature of his relationship with this doctor is,’, and Cassidy, eloquent as ever, outright asks Genji ‘’whether or not the two of you are screwin’ ’’, because he’s thinking of asking you out for a drink. “So you’d better hurry up and make a damn move, ole’ boy,” Cole nudges, teasingly, “-or somebody else will.”
When the pair of you finally do acknowledge your attraction to eachother, it doesn’t take long for things to become physical.
Late night meetings in the medical office really do become midnight rendezvous. Genji will take you on the surface of your desk, passionate, frenzied and tender, with the utmost attentiveness to your pleasure.
Singing praises into your skin, of how much he’s yearned for you these past months, lusted over you. Of how eternally grateful he is that you’d both wandered into eachother’s lives.
And yes, maybe you do take notes on Genji’s performance in bed, especially when he’s midway through having his cybernetic body replaced with transplant and/or flesh prosthetics. It’s important to gauge how much sensation he is able to feel with his new body, and the pair of you can explore that much more intensively together now that you are intimate.
Imagine Hazard being slightly jealous that Reader, who he's been flirting with for a while. Was ogling someone who was flexing and decided to flex real quick to get their attention back.
(I need to see this man flex look at hiimmm)

A/N: Thank you anon for making me go insane in the middle of this and still manage to write him a bit flustered because I couldn’t help myself, I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did :’]
Summary: a battle of peacocks what more is there to say?
The tavern buzzed with its usual noise: off-key singing from the corner, the clinking of mugs, and hearty laughter. You were perched at the bar beside Hazard, who had been in his usual form—leaning lazily on the counter, tossing out his sharp wit and charm as if it were currency.
It was easy to fall into his rhythm, though tonight your attention had slipped. Across the room, someone had started flexing, their biceps bulging as they posed for a small, admiring crowd. It wasn’t often you saw such blatant peacocking, and the display had caught your eye for a moment too long.
Hazard noticed. Of course, he did.
His golden eyes narrowed as he leaned forward, his voice dropping to a thick mutter. “Ach, really now? That’s what’s got yer attention? Some overgrown lump flexin’ like he’s auditionin’ for a bloody statue garden?”
You blinked and turned to him, caught off guard by the irritation in his tone. “What?”
He gave you a look, tilting his head toward the flexing stranger. “Cannae believe it. I’ve been sittin’ here spinnin’ gold fer ye, an’ yer too busy starin’ at that. Ye’d think I was invisible.”
A laugh bubbled out of you before you could stop it. “Wait—are you jealous?”
The word hit him like a thunderbolt. His smug grin faltered, his cheeks flushing a faint but unmistakable red. He straightened up immediately, crossing his arms over his chest. “Jealous? Me? Dinnae be ridiculous sweetheart.”
“Oh, you’re jealous” you teased, leaning closer to him with a sly grin. “You saw me looking at someone else, and now you’re sulking.”
“I am no’sulking!” he shot back, though the red creeping up to the tips of his ears betrayed him. He turned his head away, muttering something about “daft ideas” under his breath.
“Hazard” you said sweetly, drawing his attention back. “If you want my attention, all you have to do is ask.”
He stared at you, his mouth opening as if to fire back a retort—but no words came. Instead, he blinked, his flustered expression only deepening. “I don’t—ye cannae just—” He exhaled sharply, running a hand through his dark hair. “Yer impossible, ye ken that?”
“And yet here you are, proving my point more” you teased, leaning back with a satisfied smirk.
Hazard scowled, though there was no real heat behind it. “Fine, then” he said, his voice tinged with stubborn pride. “If ye think yon flexin’ fool’s impressive, I’ll remind ye why ye should keep yer eyes right where they belong.”
“Oh, this should be good” you replied, unable to suppress your grin.
He stood up, rolling his shoulders with exaggerated nonchalance as he shed his jacket, letting it fall onto the back of the chair. His shirt clung just right, emphasizing the lean strength of his frame as he stretched. When he reached up to run a hand through his hair, his muscles flexed just a little more than necessary.
“Ach, been a while since I’ve had tae bother showin’ off” he drawled, shooting you a sidelong glance. “Still reckon I’ve got more tae offer than yon poser.”
“Hazard” you said, barely holding back laughter. “Are you seriously flexing to prove a point?”
He froze for a fraction of a second, then turned to you with his trademark grin, though the flush on his face hadn’t faded. “What? Dinnae act like ye’re no’ impressed, lass. I’ve seen the way yer eyes wander when I stretch.”
You arched an eyebrow, lips twitching. “So you have been paying attention, huh? Almost like you were… jealous?”
His bravado cracked for just a moment, his golden eyes flicking away as he mumbled, “I wasnae jealous. Just—ye know—remindin’ ye where yer loyalty should lie.”
“Hazard” you said softly, leaning in close enough that your voice dropped to a near whisper. “You’re adorable when you’re flustered.”
That did it. His entire face went red as he took a half-step back, coughing into his fist to mask his embarrassment. “Aye, well… don’t get used tae it” he muttered, glaring at the floor.
You couldn’t help but laugh, the sound finally breaking the tension. “Alright, alright” you said, resting a hand on his arm. “I’ll stop teasing… for now.”
“Good” he replied gruffly, though he refused to meet your eyes.
For a moment, the two of you sat in silence, the noise of the tavern filling the space. Then Hazard glanced at you out of the corner of his eye, his grin slowly returning. “Adorable, am I? Sweetheart, ye’ve got no idea what ye’re in for.”
“Oh?” you replied, your own smile widening. “Care to prove it?”
His golden eyes gleamed as he stood straighter, his confidence slipping back into place like a second skin. “Aye” he said, offering you his hand. “Let’s take this outside. Ye’ll nae be lookin’ at anyone else after this.”
And just like that, Hazard was back in control—at least, as much as you were willing to let him be.
Can you imagine how nervous Cayde would be to see their s/o about to step into the teleporter to face off against Ghaul and he's lost a leg and a hand all he can do is wish them good luck and hope to see them again. Bonus emotional reunion when their s/o finally returns, all battered and bruised but alive regardless.
And I’m back. Replying one at a time.
You know Cayde, he doesn’t show his nervousness right in front of Ikora and Zavala. He is a nervous wreck. To himself and only himself. He won’t admit it but Ikora and his Ghost noticed it. Zavala would be worried, not has the same level as Cayde.
The love of his life is battling Ghaul. The Cabal who took their home, destroyed their loot, took the Traveler and cage it. Don’t forget their Light. No one in the City could ever forgive what Ghaul had done.
“Any words of wisdom before I have a dance with Ghaul?” You said, standing right in front of the Vex Teleporter, looking at him. Waiting for a comment or a joke. Your heart shattered when you saw that he lost his arm, leg and his cloak. You want to comfort him but at the same, need to defeat Ghaul or else this mission would be wasteful.
Cayde gave you a dry laugh. “I hate goodbyes so I’m gonna say this to ya’. See you later, alligator.”
“In awhile, crocodile.” You caught him off guard before jumping straight into the Teleporter. Cayde’s jaw would drop because he didn’t know that you know the sentence and its reply.
So the fight, it was tiring for you. You were low on ammo and thank goodness, you used all your subclasses to defeat him. All 3, just to kill Ghaul. You ignore his words, asking the Traveler to notice him and being a whiny weak Cabal who doesn’t admit defeat.
With a tired body, you and your Ghost trudged back down to the sweet solid ground where all the Cabal are killed off. Lightless Guardians are getting their Light back and are helping Hawthorne to take back the City.
“We did it, huh?” You leaning on the wall, admiring how the City has getting Cabal and more Guardians. Your Ghost was floating around you, hearing the comms, chattering here and there. You couldn’t help but smile to what your Ghost had said. “Yeah, we did it. Guardians have their Light back and our City is back to who it belongs to.”
Then, your mind decided to throw a brick at you. “Cayde!” You quickly got up from your seat and ask your Ghost to find him. Your Ghost had pinpoint his location.
When you arrive at his location which was a park. A few flowers had survived the dust and fire. Cayde was sitting on the bench, chatting with his Ghost. “They’re alive!”
He turn his head and saw you, shyly standing there and gave him a small wave. He couldn’t believe his optics. He wants to stand up and run up to you but he forget that he lost a leg. With his other arm, he motion you to come up to you.
And you did. It was a sweet reunion.
You sat next to him, where he lost his arm and leg. He leaned on your shoulder, silently thanking the Traveler that you were alright. His Ghost came up to you and gently boop your forehead. A gesture, saying thanks.
Of course, when the new Tower has been completed, you were at the bazaar, trying the ramen that Cayde always talk about. Hunters had a sense of respect to you. You were Cayde’s rock and if you were gone, he would be lost.
“So, how do we…?”
“I think it’s like…”
[ID FOR PIC ONE: A blue robot/Exo (Cayde 6) and a woman with black hair and green earrings (Jessie) sit side by side. Cayde’s hand is on the back of Jessie’s neck.
