TEXT. it’s april 17th! (1:50 AM KST) hi hello, this is part of the nct-writer’s event for april as stated above! it’s my first time writing a story this long and i really enjoyed it because i liked the plot and how it turned out! and yes - i really went all out writing this hahaha. i also want to say kudos to all single parents & single guardians out there! i respect each and everyone of you <3. everything in this story is purely fictional and is a product of my imagination.

WARNINGS. cursing, single-parenting/single-guardian, brief mention of death, suggestive (making out - but only at the near-end of the story).

teaching kindergarten was something everyone never thought sungchan would do in his life, they always thought he’d take the career like a doctor, or an engineer, or some computer related stuff but no. from the faculty of medicine, sungchan decided to move to the faculty of education. it wasn’t because he found medicine hard, but because he firmly believed that teaching kids was his calling. he believes that through this career, he is building the future leaders of tomorrow. there is no denying, sungchan absolutely loves kids. the way they ask you innocent questions and the way they express their feelings just means that they are persistent in learning about new things every day.

after cleaning and putting the toys and books that were scattered around the classroom, sungchan decided to continue reviewing his kids’ work back at his apartment, the bright colored yellow classroom was starting to hurt his eyes and he couldn’t focus. with his backpack and a handful of papers filled with cute drawings, he closed the classroom door and walked to the school parking lot. he stopped his tracks when he noticed a little boy sitting on one of the benches in the waiting area, though he only started teaching a few weeks back, he knows it’s one of his students.

Today was going to be a long day.

Usually, when you dyed hair, you were allowed the luxury of dealing with only one client over a series of hours, or days if necessary. However, your salon was well-known, and highly respected, meaning that you received frequent visits from kpop groups. Each and every time the idols came in, your usually tranquil hair salon was thrown into chaos.

The colouring needed to be done as quickly and discreetly as possible, to avoid the public catching wind of any spoilers for their potential comeback. Unfortunately, this meant shutting the salon down for at least 24 hours, and running all over the place attempting to complete about thirty odd jobs at once. As one of the senior members of staff there, you usually had the luxury of picking and choosing your clients, however whenever idol groups came in, you were expected to oversee each and every member, in order to ensure that they all received the exact treatment that their company entrusted you to give them.

To be honest, you didn’t mind tending to idols if their group was small. They were usually starved for conversation outside of their tight inner circle of mangers and staff members, so always provided you with fun stories and easy chatter. However, this relaxed and friendly attitudes only applied for groups with at most, six members. Since not every member would have a full-on bleach and colour, you had time to stop for a cup of coffee now and then, and still get the job done on time.

Today, however, you were not going to be granted that luxury.
