Anime Recommendations!

Hi everyone, I hope y’all are safe and happy! With quarantine still in place (at least in my country), I’m gonna keep the random rec lists coming! I’ve been watching a lotttt of animes and rewatching favourites, so I thought I’d share some of my favourites of all time! A lot of them are pretty mainstream, but for my friends who aren’t really into anime, these will get you hooked! In no particular order, let’s get started!

1. Snow White with the Red Hair, 24 episodes 

This is hands down my favourite anime of all time. This shoujo anime make me feel so happy and it’s so wholesome, honestly such a feel good anime. Without spoiling too much, it’s about a herbalist named Shirayuki who ends up having to flee her home country and ends up meeting Prince Zen and goes to live in his country. The cast of characters in the anime is so good, there’s not a character to dislike. The genuine build up of friendship and eventual romance is just so sweet please watch. 

2. Demon slayer (26 episodes) 

One of the best anime I’ve watched this past year. This anime has amazing plot, awesome animation and a great cast of characters. This anime follows Tanjiro as he becomes a demon slayer after a demon killed his family. Tanjiro and his sister, Nezuko were the only survivors but Nezuko was turned in a demon and now Tanjiro is on a journey to change he back into a human. If you are into anime with amazing fight scenes, I highly recommend. 

3. Hunter x Hunter (148 episodes) 

I am currently watching this anime and it honestly made it onto my lists of favourite anime super quickly. The series starts with Gon and his quest to become a pro hunter and find his dad and goes on from there. With so many episodes and arcs, you can’t stop watching. The characters immediately hooked me on this show, Killua and Gon’s friendship is one of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen in anime, I literally want to adopt both of them. This anime is so heartwarming but also kinda dark and action packed. 

4. Haikyuu!! (73 episodes, on-going)

My favourite sports anime my god. Haikyuu follows a high school volleyball team as they try to make it to nationals. This series made me so much more emotional than I thought it would, but you get so involved with the team and characters and want them to succeed. All of the characters from all of the teams are also fantastic and hilarious. If you need a fun but exciting anime, please please please watch Haikyuu!!

5. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (64 episodes)

Where to even begin. I would say this is one of the most popular anime and for good freaking reason. Without giving too much away, this anime follows brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric as they go on a quest to get their bodies back. Honestly this is one of my fav animes, if you like awesome fight scenes and really intriguing plot, you will love this anime. 

6. Yona of the Dawn (24 episodes) 

Another amazing anime but sadly, unfinished. I think this anime is best to watch w/o knowing very much. Just know that there is really good characters and character development and a very attractive love interest :))))

7. Soul eater (51 episodes) 

One of the first animes I ever watched and as I remember it’s hella awesome, if you like halloween then the whole atmosphere of this anime will intrigue you. The fight scenes in this are really fun and so are the characters. If you need a fun medium length anime, I would recommend this one!

8. Inuyasha (193 episodes)

This anime is worth all the hype in my opinion. The plot was great, the characters are fantastic and romance is so freaking cute I can’t. I’m also a sucker for asshole characters who are secretly really sweet. 

9. Fruits Basket (2019) (25 episodes (S1), S2 on-going)

This is the cutest anime. The whole cast characters is amazing and you get so attached so fast. The protagonist is so sweet and optimistic and I really just wanna protect her. I went into this knowing next nothing and I think that’s the best way to do it. The 2001 version is good too but 2019 has better animation and is closer to managa (and has more episodes!). 

10. My Hero Academia (88 episodes, on-going)

I love this anime with my whole heart. There is an adorable cast of characters and amazing fight scenes, I love this sm. It’s set in a world where like 95% of the population has ‘quirks’ which are basically super powers but not all of them are super powerful. Super heroes protect cities and the anime follows a high school where the students are training to become heroes. The main character is born without a quirk but through some crazy circumstances he ends up acquiring one. In my opinion this anime is worth the hype. 

11. Ouran Highschool Host Club (26 episodes)

This one is wild. Ouran Highschool Host club is so iconic and it’s hilarious, I laughed out loud watching this one so much. Honestly I went into this knowing nothing and I think its funnier that way. 

12. Yuri!!! On Ice (13 episodes)

THIS ANIME. The first sports anime w/ canon LGBTQ+ romance and its beautiful. I love the style, the skating, the music, the characters, just everything about it. This follows Yuri Katsuki, a professional figure skater from Japan and his skating career. After messing up a major championship, Yuri is lost and doesn’t know what to do w/ his career. After seeing a video of Yuri skate, his idol Victor, a skating legend, shows up to be his coach. Please watch this anime. 

13. Attack on Titan (62 episodes, on-going)

If you are looking for a badass action anime this is the one for you. Humanity has fallen to the mercy of giant man-eating titans, and the people that survived live within a walled city to keep the titans out. This anime is a little disturbing and violent but it is so badass. Also Levi, the most badass character ever, makes this entire anime worth watching. 

14. Ao Haru Ride (12 episodes)

Hands down my favourite romance anime. This anime is so freaking cute and it gave me so many fuzzy feelings. The animation is also super nice so that is always a plus. It follows Futaba and Kou who liked each other in middle school but were separated. They meet again in high school but they have both changed so much. If you want a romance anime I really recommend this one. 

15. Naruto (720 episodes)

This is a freaking classic and really long. Almost everyone and their mother has heard of this anime or watched some of it before. Basically it’s about ninjas and follows mainly Naruto Uzumaki who want to eventually be the leader of his village but his ninja skills need a lot of work. I honestly didn’t think I would love this anime as much as I did but its just so good. It is a very big commitment to finish though so be prepared. 

16. Your Lie in April (22 episodes)

Well this anime is literally beautiful. It is centered around 2 teens w/ major musical talent. It gets deep very fast but its also light hearted and wholesome. This anime made me cry like a baby so get your tissues ready. 

Some racist asshole run a muslim family down with his pick-up truck this afternoon in London (Ontario), killing four and leaving only one family member alive. The terrorist was a 20-year old islamophobic dude who targeted muslims and wanted to kill as many of them as possible; when the police arrested him, he was wearing body armor, he had intended to commit more than just murders. There's a 9-year old who lost his family and is in the hospital right now. It's heartbreaking.

[9:18 pm] You softly let out a grunt as drunk Jisung placed you in his lap just to kiss you. His touch was gentle but he was being too clingy on you.

His lips tasted like alcohol as this was his first time drinking ever since he became an adult. His right hand gripped on your waist while his other was on your shoulder.

His already swollen lips on your swollen ones. Both melting into the kiss as the night progressed. Jisung bit your lips, only to receive a soft sound from you.

"My baby is so cute," he whispered before he planted a kiss on your collarbone. Both of your cheeks were red and you were sweating due to the sudden hotness of the room.

That's when you realized that drunk Jisung is your enemy but also a side you want to see again.

Suddenly, you flinched when someone hit Jisung's head. You pulled back and a pout appeared on his red swollen lips.

"YOU ARE A CHILD!" Jaemin and Renjun shouted.

Jaehyun stood in the counter, watching you as you flipped the next page of the book that you were reading with an enthusiasm of a kid. From his position, he could clearly see the twinkle in your eyes as you skim through the words printed out on it.

It has been exactly a week since you started to frequent the coffee shop Jaehyun was working at. And in those times, he’d never seen you with an empty hand. You were always holding and reading a book.

He found it captivating; the way your face give out the scene unfolding in the book. If your eyebrows are knitted together, Jaehyun knew that whatever your reading wasn’t pleasing. He knew that when your mouth gapes a little bit, a plot twist was behind it. And whenever you smile with your eyes, he knows that the characters spent a good time with each other.

He wasn’t much of a reader, but because of you, Jaehyun had unobtrusively peeked at the cover of the book you were reading. After days of searching for it to the bookstores, he’d finally found the series. And boy, didn’t he binge-read the first and second book.

Fortunately, you were reading the second book of the series when you visited the coffee shop. And by the looks of it, one more chapter and you were ready for the third book.

“Whose is this?” Jaehyun asked his co-worker, referring to the slice of cake on the counter. He sure knew that it was your order, because Jaehyun had given a lot of attention to your taste buds. Yet he was hoping that you won’t find it creepy.

“For the girl right there,” his co-worker answered. When he attempted to pick up your order, Jaehyun offered to do the honor. With a confused look, his co-worker nodded.

With a tray of your order in hand, Jaehyun walked owards you. You didn’t even notice him as he laid the plate in front of you.

Jaehyun chuckled. “You’re sure this is what you want?” he asked. You looked up to him, face contorted in a confused expression. Jaehyun cleared his throat. “I search her eyes for doubt, fear, uncertainty. But all I see is that fire. Ten hells.”

Upon hearing the words, your face lightened up. Then you spoke the next words from the book, “I am sure.”

Jaehyun stared at your eyes, as if he was the character from the book himself. “Then I’ll find a way.”

You placed the book on the table, your eyes never leaving Jaehyun’s. “What— How did you know that?” you asked, clearly impressed.

A swell of pride bloomed in Jaehyun’s heart. At least, his reading wasn’t in vain. “Well... it’s a good book so I’ve picked it up.”

“Oh, yes.” You chuckled. “It really is.” Then you noticed him still standing. “Oh, please have a seat!”

“Oh, no— it’s okay—” Jaehyun scratched the back of his head, trying to hide the redness of his ears.

“I insist,” you said with a small chuckle. “It’s nice to have someone I could talk about books with.”

Jaehyun sat with a wide smile spread out on his lips.

For weeks, both of you would go on dates in a book store or in a library. Jaehyun’s growing obsession of books matched yours perfectly. And who knows, perhaps your wedding vows would be like those written in a classic book.

i’m in such disbelief right now and beyond disgusted.

i really hope y’all are choosing your morals over kpop; because we do not know these men at all. i will never side with or defend a predator and a criminal, even with little to no proof. even if there is the smallest chance he may be innocent, i will always believe the victim first.

some of you, as fans of the boys for years and him in general, i know you must be feeling disappointed and betrayed. you’re not dumb for previously supporting him, as we couldn’t have possibly known. but now is the time for a reality check and it’s time to wake up and take a step back. this just goes to show that we know absolutely nothing about them.

for sm to just outright put out a statement on their own before any rumors even surfaced and immediately kick him out? this has to be insanely serious and i’m terrified of what he could’ve done. the crazy thing is with everything currently happening in korea with the telegram situation, and korean women constantly being in danger in general because of the men there, i’m not at all surprised that celebrities are being exposed. sm has protected criminals before, and held onto lucas when his scandal came out as well as other artists who have been exposed for similar crimes. i can’t even imagine the severity of the current situation. we’ve seen what happened with the burning sun, and these men are not immune to being misogynistic, vile human beings.

members have already unfollowed him and deleted posts with him in them; his best friend of 17yrs has unfollowed him. the company taking the initiative and him getting kicked out of the group in less than a second before anything even came out, no denying the claims or even trying to defend him. that should be enough to tell you and understand how serious this actually is. i am beyond disgusted with him and this whole situation.

i sincerely hope the victim is doing okay and praying for them to heal and get the justice they deserve. and remember that your love for these celebrities should always be conditional, because we do not know them. it’s their job to put on a show and show you their public persona, but behind closed doors? we don’t know what they’re actually like. we put them on a pedestal and yet we don’t know what they’re really capable of. they are still men after all. i hope the police are taking this seriously. there needs to be consequences and these women need to be protected.

let this be a lesson to all of us. they don’t know us, and we don’t know them, not really, not at all.

ALWAYS choose morals over these strangers you idolize. and as women, we should be standing with the victims.

maybe not all men, but enough of them. and maybe not all men, but somehow always a man. and going forward, i will continue to support nct as a whole with the remaining members. however, keeping the situation in mind, i will be supporting from afar for a little while. if the situation escalates and other members are investigated and new information comes to light about the rest of them either knowing or possibly being involved, it would be best to step away for good. i will do my best to stay updated. but i do hope the rest of the members are doing okay, and hopefully no other members were involved; but this, just shows that they can always surprise us. you never think it’ll be your fave, until it is.

let’s hope this causes a domino effect and more of these people are exposed and charged for the crimes they’re committing.

❗️EDIT: also i wanna add that we need to not praise the rest of the members or any other celebrity for simply unfollowing him on social media. that is the least of anyone’s worries.

we don’t know if they were aware, we don’t know if they knew and were protecting him or turning a blind eye. it could be them trying to save themselves and clear their guilty conscience. maybe they didn’t know and are just as shocked as we are, we don’t know that either.

we blindly trust these people and believe they have good intentions but look at where that can lead to. fans being upset is valid, yes; but remember people with money and power will do whatever it takes to sweep things under the rug and make it go away in order to save face and keep their image and reputation.

Everyone knew he was going places after he would finish school

All the teachers in the physical education faculty adored his hard work and determination as well as his charming personality

As the new school year rolled by, it was time for your grade to choose electives for the year

These subjects weren’t meant to be taken as seriously as mathematics or English, supposedly, but each student took long considerations before choosing their subjects

Jeno obviously chose an extension of sport and lifestyle as his main priority

But he also disregarded all the other subjects, only selecting the ones that revolved around the physical education faculty

This is where the story really starts

On the first day of school

Jeno waltzed into his first class, which was located in one of the health rooms

He smiled brightly at the teacher whom he was already familiar with, turning himself to the class, he only saw a total of 12 people, including you

His smile turned into a more dazed look

“am I in the right class?” he asked his teacher

“yes, you’re on the roll, this is community and family studies! Or CAFS for short!” the teacher cheered at him

jeno’s eyes almost burst out of their sockets

“this has to be a mistake, I chose sports and lifestyle extension!” he exclaimed, internally groaning

“oh, I will have to check with the other teachers, but for now, please take a seat, you are still required to be in a class” the teacher looked at him solemnly, extending his arm to the seat next to you

jeno huffed in frustration, quickly shuffling to his seat

you looked at him with a face of annoyance

you couldn’t believe he was being so petty about a damn elective

there was always time to appeal for a change but you guess he wasn’t fully understanding that

he roughly plumped his stuff on your desk, the corner of his folder hitting your arm

“Sorry” he mumbled, not looking at you, taking out his pen and twiddling with it

“apology unaccepted” you mumble back, not expecting him to hear

“excuse you?” he finally looked at you, this time with a confused look

“I understand you’re pissed about being put into this class, but honestly, give it a chance it’s not as bad as you think it’ll be” you tried to reason with him in hopes he’d stop being so petty

“I’m not mad I got this subject, I just understand everything in sports and lifestyle, I feel like I have to start entirely fresh here” he explained, you were not expecting that answer

“well everyone in this class is here for the first time, so you’ll keep up with us, okay?” you gave him a small smile before turning to the teacher

 jeno glanced at you, the ends of his mouth rose up 

 how did you cheer him up in like 10 seconds honestly? 

 that recess break, jeno went to talk to the head teacher and asked to switch classes

 bad news tho, sorta 

 the class he wants to be in is currently full, so he got put on a waiting list which means, he has to stay in community and family studies 

 the reason he was put there in the first place was because it falls under the health component, in which he selected at the beginning

 he felt like an idiot for not properly filling the form 

 So the next lesson he had of CAFS, he had researched some content that was in the syllabus and felt somehow confident

 he slumped in his seat next to you and smiled brightly, showcasing his trademarked eye smile 

 “oh I see someone’s happy today” you joked

 “just excited for class I guess” he smirked you rolled your eyes before letting out a giggle, then began to take notes that were on the board

 you could see throughout the lesson that jeno kept scratching the back of his neck, paired with a puzzled look on his face 

 “um are you okay?” you whispered to him he shook his head softly 

 you felt bad for him 

 he really was trying his hardest

 you push you book closer to his, shuffling your chair to go through the different concepts of the topic 

 by the end of class, jeno was mostly caught up with what had been taught so far but was still a lil lost 

 “hey, y/n, can we go to the library this lunch break? I still need you to explain this part to me” he asked as you were about to leave class 

 you swung your bag over your shoulder and gave him a smile 

 he was actually really cute 

 you nodded to his request as you both walked to the library on the way, jeno saw his friends

 they waved at him to come to them, but then stopped as they saw you walking with him 

 the look on their faces were priceless 

 they all gave him smirks before dispersing to their own table

jeno opened the door to the library for you, making you blush a bit

 he led you to a table and you both got to work

 this went on for a few weeks 

 you’d meet up every second day at lunch to go over the content together 

 sometimes he’d explain stuff to you and vice versa - aside from school work, you and jeno became closer

 you had small inside jokes about the people in your class and even your teacher 

 you both made friends with the librarian due to the amount of time you spent in there 

 you often caught jeno looking at you while you were trying to explain something to him

 but as soon as your eyes met, he’d turn his head away and stare down at the paper in front of him, which made you chuckle slightly

  he often sat close to you, not that you minded 

  he also brushed his hand by yours when he was getting papers or a pencil which made the both of you blush 

  you couldn’t get enough of his eye smile seriously 

  it never failed to make your day - anyways - one day, you were having a pretty shitty day

  and didn’t really feel like having your usual library session with jeno

  but you were also preoccupied with work from other subjects and forgot to tell him that you wanted to reschedule 

  so poor jeno 

  shows up to the library alone

  and waits for you 

 but you never show up 

  after school, he messages you 

  “did I do something y/n? why didn’t you come to the library?”

  you almost face palmed yourself 

  “oh my gosh, I completely forgot, I was just having a bad day and had other work to finish, im so sorry” 

  he couldn’t help but feel bad he wasn’t able to help you through your day 

  “do you want to talk about it?” 

  “yeah that’d be nice, there’s just a lot to say”

  “it’s ok! Meet me at the park in 10 mins” 

  you smiled widely, almost feeling instantly better that he actually wanted to listen to you

  you saw jeno sitting at a bench at the park 

  you took a seat next to him, placing your hands in your lap

  he looked at you with the softest smile you had ever seen  

 “tell me about your day, don’t leave out any details” 

  you sighed gently before releasing the biggest groan you had ever let out in your life, even he was shocked

  you began ranting away, talking about how your first period teacher kept calling on you for no reason and how you spilt milk on your new school shoes and also how some dude pushed you at the train station on the way to school

  while you were venting your head off 

 jeno was just staring 

  admiring your passion in a way 

  he interrupted “I’m sorry but I need to say that you’re really cute when you’re ranting”

  he widened his eyes, not fully processing what he said 

  you stopped talking, whipping your head to look him in the eye cause damn wtf was that

  “you think I’m cute?” 

  “always have” goddammit jeno 

  you blushed so hard lmao

  like even your hoodie couldn’t hide it 

  you took this opportunity to make a move on him 

  you took his hands in yours and slid yourself over so your shoulders were touching and there was no space between you

  “I’ve always thought you were pretty cute too” you said, playing with his fingers gently 

  he felt all fluffy inside 

  not knowing what to say 

  you liked making him flustered so you decide to take it up a notch and place a small peck on his cheek 

 you could literally feel the heat radiating off his face

 your faces were close together as he had turned to you 

 “I’m glad I got put into your class” he whispered softly 

 your hands still tangled together and you were now staring into his eyes 

 “maybe sports aren’t your only specialty” you giggled at your comment, causing him to laugh along

 NOW he took you by surprise by placing a quick peck on your nose

 Gosh y’all were too awkward 

 But y’all cute too 

 So yeah idk how to end this 

 I might make a part 2 but it’d be like a bf jeno one 

 Anyways im done so bye
