Hey do you have any information on Belphegor? I suck at finding info on demons.
Not much, but I’ll give you what I’ve got!
Belphegor is thought to have originated as the Moabite got Baal of Peor or Baal-peor, who is actually referenced rather often in the Bible. He’s also possibly referenced as Chemosh, the Moabite god of war. Here’s what I could think of off the top of my head:
Then they attached themselves to the Ba′al of Pe′or, and ate sacrifices offered to the dead; they provoked the Lord to anger with their doings, and a plague broke out among them.– Psalm 106:27-29
Like grapes in the wilderness, I found Israel. Like the first fruit on the fig tree, in its first season, I saw your fathers. But they came to Ba′al-pe′or, and consecrated themselves to Ba′al, and became detestable like the thing they loved. – Hosea 9:10
Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, and for Molech the abomination of the Ammonites, on the mountain east of Jerusalem. – 1 Kings 11:7
And the king defiled the high places that were east of Jerusalem, to the south of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had built for Ash′toreth the abomination of the Sido′nians, and for Chemosh the abomination of Moab, and for Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. – 2 Kings 23:13
He’s also referenced in the Dictionnaire Infernal as the demon of discovery and invention, and is supposedly meant to be worshiped while on the toilet with offerings of.. well, you get the picture.

Hi! Do you have any information on Belphegor?
He’s not a demon from the 72 in the Lemegeton, which can make finding the usual info on him a little tough. Belphegor seems to be a corruption of the name Bael-peor, as a reference to the God of the Moabites. within Numbers, we see him as a God that some Israelites became corrupted by and sacrificed to, and all those who did were sentenced to death.
Hebrew references:
“Your eyes have seen what the LORD has done in the case of Baal-peor, for all the men who followed Baal-peor, the LORD your God has destroyed them from among you.” – Deuteronomy 4:3“They joined themselves also to Baal-peor, And ate sacrifices offered to the dead.” – Psalm 106:27-29“I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your forefathers as the earliest fruit on the fig tree in its first season. But they came to Baal-peor and devoted themselves to shame, and they became as detestable as that which they loved.” – Hosea 9:10
there seems to be a bunch of divides on just what he was to that culture. but according to some of the info and a background in the etymology, we know Bael/Ba’al is Lord or Lord of, and Peor seems to be the name of the mountain. in Moab. there are some references to an entity known as Chemosh as well, but there doesn’t really seem to be a solid connection there.
the information on him as a demon is a little bit hazy and sort of crude, so I can’t honestly say what seems super relevant or not. like, there are people who claim that you better pray while you’re in the bathroom to him, cause your offering is excrement. JewishEncyclopedia covers this as well and basically says that it might just be stigma/ridicule of the worship.

Hi 👋, My name is Mohammad, and I’m reaching out in a moment of desperate need. I’m a father of three young children living in Gaza, and we are caught in the midst of a catastrophic war. Our home is no longer a safe haven, and the future here seems increasingly uncertain. 💔
I’ve launched a fundraising campaign with the goal of raising $40,000 to relocate my family to a safer place where my children can grow up in peace and have a chance at a brighter future.
Unfortunately, my previous fundraising efforts were abruptly halted when my account was terminated without explanation. However, I remain determined to keep fighting for my family’s safety and well-being. 🫶
If you could take a moment to read our story, consider donating, or simply share our campaign with others, it would make an incredible difference. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to safety and a new beginning. 🙏
Thank you for your time, compassion, and support. ❤️🩹

“Eve’s ingestion of the forbidden fruit becomes a heroic act of rebellion against the tyranny of God and Adam. This closely parallels how socialists like Mikhail Bakunin (1814–1876) used Satan’s battle with God as a symbol of their fight against a capitalist and monarchist society (God being the ultimate monarch).”

As an addendum: I talked to my therapist about spiritual psychosis, because I've had visions, and I have a therapist, and she had some thoughts.
If you are noodling over what kinds of spiritual experiences are psychologically healthy and not, Abraham Maslow wrote a book called _Religions, Values, and Peak Experiences_ that you should probably read.
Psychosis comes with compulsions. If you have an experience and still feel free to choose for yourself what you do and do not do, religiously speaking, it's not spiritual psychosis. Spiritual psychosis is psychosis with spiritual window dressing. It is spiritually themed, but not actually spiritual in nature, if that makes any sense. If your visions are threatening, and you feel like you can't say no to them, that is spiritual psychosis. If Hekate appears and tells you everything is going to be ok, but you should probably work on being nicer to people (and you think about that, and tell her maybe, but that's really hard, and you don't know if you can do that) that isn't.
Another problem, also with spiritual window dressing, but far more common, is spiritual bypassing. This is when you use spiritual ideas and practices to sidestep or avoid facing unresolved emotional issues, psychological wounds, and unfinished developmental tasks. So, if you take a theological position that the gods hate everyone who does X because it triggers your trauma, that is spiritual by-passing. If the gods comfort you when you are hurting, that is not.
Edit: If you want to know what causes psychosis, here is an article. Funky religious and spiritual practices aren't on the list.

What're some witchy uses for sea glass??
Thinking about seaglass, try to describe it. Most of the time, sea glass is foggy. It is definitely smooth, being tumbled in the ocean among rocks and sand. It’s certainly been through a lot to look the way it does. Think about color too, and how this could impact any correspondences–is it blue, green, brown, white, clear? What does it make you think of when you hold it?
Some uses I can think of:
Foggy sea glass:
a curse to interfere with the target’s ability to think clearly.
a glamour that masks your intentions, or certain physical characteristics that you want to keep hidden.
scrying
Smooth:
use it similar to a “worry stone” [external link]
a spell to “smooth over” a rough situation or relationship
added to any spell to make your desired outcome manifest “smoothly”
Green:
in money spells
in fertility spells
in abundance spells
Blue:
in calming spells
in healing spells
in water-related spells or to invoke the element of water
White:
in purification/cleansing spells
in moon magic
in peace spells
in protection spells
Etc & Etc
With some wire wrapping, you can turn a piece of sea glass into a piece of jewelry to make a charm that you can wear. Or just slip it into your pocket.
Or you can just add it to a spell bottle or charm bag.
A quick google search brought up quite a few results of others exploring this idea as well.

A handy guide to properly cleaning shells, when and how to collect them, and a few creative ideas for using them in witchy matters or altar decoration!
By rainy-day-witchcraft
Seashells, whether inhabited by an organism or abandoned on the beach, almost always have that funky sea smell~ which can only grow as they are dried and left out. When cleaning shells, there are many different techniques. You can:
Boil ~ gently drop your shells into a stove-top pot and turn up the heat until the water reaches a boil. After a few minutes, turn it down to about half that heat, and let them simmer for 20-30 minutes. Tips: Shells must be dropped into the water while it is still lukewarm, so they gradually heat and do not break or crack from the cool to hot transfer / Take caution not to let the pot boil over, as the water is salty and will leave a residue that will need to be cleaned afterwards
Bleach~ Soak your shells in a 50/50 water/bleach ratio for an hour or so. There is no set time, but be careful not to leave them in for too long, as the bleach will break them down!
Baking Soda scrub~ Mixing a paste-like mixture of water and baking soda, take an old toothbrush and scrub the shell for a few minutes. If you are dealing with a sanddoller, be sure to scrub more gently and in small circular motions
Burying~ Because barnacles, tiny organisms, or bits of the previous shell-owner can be left in hard-to-reach areas of the shell, burying a shell 18 inches into the ground for a few weeks is a useful technique to get rid of any stink-inducing sea thing. Because it is buried at this depth, it allows insects, larva, and ants to eat the remains of organism and leave the shell with no reason to smell after cleaning! If using this technique, bury it opening-down; it works especially well to preserve glossy shells, as most of the other methods may cause de-shining
If you are more of a pro-collector, consider using:
Muriatic acid~ dipping a shell in this chemical can majorly restore color and finish. However, on OLIVE shells (seashells that already have a shiny finish) this will do the opposite, and dull them
The best times to collect shells are during the New Moon and Full Moon, when the tide is at it’s most powerful. Beginning your collecting an hour before and after low tide is also a key time when seashells end up on the sand! While searching near the wet sand usually yields fresher shells, make sure you also do a little digging or check near the high-tide line.
Fragile shells, such as sand dollar, can crumble if cleaned too harshly or left in the sun
Do not clean with any type of vinegar! Vinegar can erode calcium, which is a main component in almost all shells
If you find two shells sealed tightly together, or anything that resembles a live clam or shellfish, do not collect these! There is an organism living inside, and it is illegal at many beaches to collect living seashells. Do the little guy a favor (and the environment) and throw it back into the ocean or leave it be ~
If any trace of sea creature is left inside or outside the shell, it will mostly never loose the fishy smell
In addition to looking nice or being cleaned/polished and made into decoration, they can also be used as:
Offering bowls
Talismans or Amulets
Representation of ocean or sea related gods/goddesses
Various magickal utensils (Magickal tools adorned with seashells, decorated on bowls or cups, hung as ornaments or charms, etc.)
In magick and witchcraft, they represent and are useful in:
The element of Water/West direction
Rounder, whiter shells can represent the moon, because of it’s influence on the ocean tides
Spells for emotion (water=emotion) protection (A shell is the protective covering for an ocean organism) creativity (water also=creative spirit), love (In reference to Aphrodite), and prosperity (Used as currencies around the world long ago)
Particular shells also have their own meaning, such as these~
Abalone - general use and containment of empowered herbs and stones
Clam shells - purification and love
Conche shell - love
Cone shell - protection
Cowrie shell - prosperity, money - if you look at a cowrie shell is also looks very ‘feminine’)
Whelks - dramatic positive change
Limpets - courage, confidence, strength
Scallops - travel, movement
Sand~doller- prosperity, good luck

Many sea witches forget that the ocean is a dark, dangerous place, filled with deadly traps and monsters. This post is a collection of ideas on blending dark witchcraft with sea magick. (Note: I, along with many others, do not believe in the threefold law, so please keep your personal ethics to yourself)
Seashells are great for curses, as they can be broken into shards and put in a curse bottle. Research certain shell correspondences if you want a very specific curse.
Black sand can be mixed with black salt (or used by itself) for protective or cursing magick.
Saltwater gathered on the night of a dark moon makes the water even more potent for dark witchcraft.
Fish or turtle bones can be used in curse bottles or for divination. (Please only use bones that you find without actually hurting an animal. If you do sacrifice an animal, don’t be wasteful and please be humane. And definitely don’t sacrifice anything endangered!)
Shark teeth can be used for curses to cause fear in someone, or even bring real harm to them if used that way.
If you think on a broader scale, you can harness the power of the entire sea. Hurricanes and things like that are incredibly powerful, and are aspects of the sea. They kill many, many people, so I don’t recommend a hurricane curse, as they aren’t specific to who they harm.
Feel free to repost and add on to this!
🌊 Flow/ Flux: Phase of incoming water. Good for growth, luck, new beginnings. Can be paired with Crescent Moon for better results. 🌊 High Tide: When water reaches its highest level, every 12 hs. Gives extra power, strength, for notorious results. Can be paired with Full Moon for better results. 🌊 Ebb/ Reflux: Phase of outgoing water. Good for banishing, destroying, cleansing. Can be paired with the Waning Moon for better results. 🌊 Low Tide: When water reaches its lowest level. Good for psychic powers, meditation, new ideas and thoughts. Can be paired with New Moon for better results.
🌊 Neap Tide: This occurs twice a month, in the First and Third quarters of the Moon. The difference between high and low tide is less than usual. This is because the Earth, the Sun and the Moon are in a right angle and the Sun’s gravitational pull counteracts the one from the Moon. This is a good time for relationships, love, bindings and such.
🌊 Spring Tide: This occurs twice a month too, approximately at Full Moon and New Moon. The difference between high and low tide is bigger than usual, because the Sun and Moon are lined with the earth and their gravitational pulls reinforce each other. During this phenomenon, you can give an extra-boost and extra power to all your spells.

Weather Magic - whether it’s because a mermaid was captured and inclement weather dooms and follows whoever took them, or simply a power the mermaid has, this is something that happens often in mermaid lore. the weather and mermaids are almost intrinsically tied to one another. (ex: Sea Mithers, Ningyo, Cecelia)
Disguise - many mermaids have the ability to disguise themselves as something appealing to humans, or to hide themselves from humans entirely. the ability to transform comes in many shapes, from a cap or coat to mystical powers. (ex; Melusina, Merrow, Finfolk, Ceasg, Selkie)
Enchanted Voice - perhaps the most famous quality of a mermaid is the voice, as throughout mythology they are known for their beautiful singing. it is also a common theme that their voices can bewitch the listeners, though sometimes for less than virtuous reasons. (ex; Siren, Merrow)
Drowning - drowning can be interpreted in both the physical and metaphysical sense, to drown the spirit of a person and surround it with negative energy that is hard to rid.
Granting Wishes / Prosperity - just as a mermaid might curse varying types of doom and damnation and bad weather on those who harm or threaten them, there are those that will bless those kind to them, often with wealth and good weather. (ex; Ben-varrey, Ceasg)
Prophecy - some mermaids, though less heard of, may even prophesize the future for a human, though their reasons for doing so are often unknown. (ex; Siren, Amabie)
Crying Pearls - though it is little more than a curiosity that pops up in lore, the idea that mermaids are able to cry tears of pearls is present, though its purpose or reason is unknown. (origins in chinese lore, but doesn’t refer to any specific kind of mermaid)

🗻🌊Skye’s Landlocked Sea Witch Tips🌊🗻
I’ve seen a lot of aspiring sea witches being discouraged due to not living anywhere near the ocean. And I’m here to tell you that you can still be a sea witch and be landlocked! Being landlocked will only hinder you if you let it.
So, let’s get going!
🌊Making Your Own Sea Water🌊
🌊A jar/air tight bottle. I find a swing cap bottle works best
🌊Sea salt, eyeball amount depending on jar size
🌊Warm spring water
Ground and centre. Listen to ocean sounds and visualise and feel the power of the sea. Connect with the ocean by doing a Sinking/sea centering.
Pour the water into the jar. Add the sea salt. Mix until the salt has dissolved.
Hold the jar in both hands in front of your heart, saying:
“🐚 Mother ocean, from whom life flows, Bless this water with your love and nurturing power, your endless beauty and strength, For this I am grateful. So mote it be 🐚”
(Feel free to replace mother ocean with the name of your sea deity, if you have one)
Close your eyes. Continue to hold the jar at your heart and visualise the ocean. With your hands, feel the sea’s energy emanating from the jar. When the feeling is strong, open your eyes. Your sea water is ready to use.
🌊🔊Sea Sound Scapes🔊🌊
Your sea water can be placed in a bowl and you have the ocean right there. Combine that with the sound scape, listening to the waves coming in and going out. Synch that with any spell work you want to do regarding waves, tides, giving things to mother ocean etc. With me, I place things in the bowl and then pour the water and item (if it’s eco friendly) in the stream near my house.
I also use this technique to place myself at the beach through the senses. Hold a seashell or touch some sand, taste some salt, listen to ocean sounds, have an image or video of the sea, and if you can (I struggle with this) have a scent that’s ocean themed. I’ve struggled to find one as most scented candles labelled sea breeze smell like soap… And with this, you can perform rituals and workings centered around that water you made. Through your visualisation skills you can be by the sea, even when you physically aren’t. Cool, huh?!
💙You Are Ocean💙
The ocean is within you. It’s your blood, the sweat, your tears, your breath, your pulse. The ocean has a rhythm, so does the human body. We’re 65% water. And what’s even cooler is we also have a tide. The moon affects the body’s fluids, just like it affects the ocean. These ideas have really helped me with my craft because being landlocked, I’m sometimes like “how can I connect with the sea?” So knowing I have a tide and the rhythm of the sea, which is like the rhythm of pulse, just totally blows my mind and amazes me!
💧💦Inland Water💦💧
Now this is something that kinda quenches my sea thirst. If you can, travel to a nearby lake, river, stream etc. Sit near it. Connect with it. Follow your intuition and connect with its energy. Ask Mother Ocean/Your water deity to help you.
Honestly, I’ve been in meditation near freshwater and the smell, if I focus enough, reminds me of the sea air and it literally transports me in my mind and senses to the beach. And that’s one of my vital tools in my craft. (talk about water being adaptable and water witches doing the same, eh?!)
🛀🚿Bath & Shower Magic🚿🛀
🌊Bath bombs. Look up their ingredients to know the correspondences, or, just make up your own. Lush are honestly amazing and their products have been used a lot in my bath rituals
🌊Sallllttssss! You can make a saltwater bath, meditate and relax and really tap into that ocean energy
🌊Bath tub altar. Have a little altar going on when you take a bath. Shells, candles, incense, trinkets you’ve collected or purchased, statues. Anything you have that makes you feel connected with the sea
🌊 You can use crystals that correspond to water if you like. Aquamarine, moonstone, fluorite, amethyst, labradorite, selenite and rose quartz are just a few examples. If you’re putting crystals in your tub please research which ones are water safe!
🌊Herbs and oils. You can add these to your bathtub. Please research again. Some herbs are toxic and some you may be allergic to. The same with oils, as some people have allergic reactions to them! I don’t often use herbs and oils for this reason. I get irritated skin very easily. I use coconut oil in my bath for purification and I just looooove coconut oil and the scent. Also its amazing for your skin! I use lavender oil and that’s literally it. I use oils outside of the tub, though. For candle dressing and other spell work.
🌊And if you don’t have a bathtub, all of those above ingredients and can be made into shower scrubs! They’re super easy to make and there’s a tonne of amazing tutorials around online!
🌊Meditate or work in the shower. Feel that water flowing down and through you, allow it to cleanse and charge you. Go with your intuition and explore the possibilities
🌩🌪️☄️Weather☄️🌪️🌩️
Weather. It all begins at sea. Snow, rain, thunder storms, winds, hail. Its all from the sea. The water is ocean water that’s traveled to the land. Weather magic is just a more expanded form of sea magic. Go out and let the rain cleanse you, collect weather water of any kind and make your sea water with it! Feel the power of a storm and focus on how much energy the sea has during that time. Feel her with you when you are on land! Remember to stay safe when practising weather magic, too.
🐚✨Seashell Magic✨🐚
And if you have seashells, they have amazing uses and correspondences. Offering bowls, amulets, charms, talismans, runes, charging items and so on. I highly recommend the book Sea Magic by Sandra Kynes as a lot of the tips I’ve given you were inspired or taken from that book :)
A quick PSA regarding seashells:
If your shells are store bought, they may not be ethically sourced. Some craft stores sell them by the many so try to be wary of this. It’s down to your moral compass whether or not you decide to use them in your craft. And if you do choose to use them, I advise cleansing them before any magical use. Furthermore, do not purchase nautilus shells, starfish or seahorses. Nautilus shells are endangered. Star fish and sea horses are taken alive, then killed to be sold in stores.
I really hope this helped! Have a swishy day! 🌊💙And if you have any questions, feel free to ask :)
Working with the Tides
Tides are the rise and fall of the Ocean’s sea level which is employed by the combined gravitational forces of the Sun and Moon. The times of which when a certain tide could take place is heavily influenced by the alignment of the Sun and Moon upon the earth, such as when the Moon is at its first or third quarter. When this happens the Sun and the Moon form a 90 degree angle and cause a special tide called a neap tide. To add to that when the Moon and the Sun form a straight line they create another special tide called a spring tide.
The difference between these two are quite simple
A Spring tide occurs when there is a full or new moon and at these times the high tides are at their highest, while the low ones are at their lowest.
While when there is a neap tide the tides are at the weakest.
High and low tides on the other hand are created when the Moon rotates and creates a big bulge of water on both sides of the planet facing outward. This bulge is called a high tide and moves along with the moon while the second bulge on the other side follows it. The water that is left over is called low tide, so depending on what tides will come in your area determines where the Moon is at.
Flood/Flow: To bring anything towards you
High Tide: For any positive workings
Ebb: To bring anything away from you
Low Tide: For any negative workings
Spring Tide: Causes tidal magick to be stronger
Neap Tide: Causes tidal magick to be weaker
Some shorelines experience two of the same tides per day while some only have a pair of one each day. Though it is quite possible to have a range a mixed tides in your area also.
