hi everyone! my name is shruti and i’ve been meaning to make a studyblr for a little while now. I love looking at notes and finding creative ways to take mine.

honey production does hurt the bees. the honey stolen is replaced with a toxic synthetic sugar substance which isn't healthy for them. honey isn't for humans to steal, please educate yourself.

Arright, sit down, you’re about to get some knowledge dropped on you by somebody with beekeepers and meadmakers in the family.

The “toxic synthetic sugar substance” you’re referring to? Is sugar water. Literally SUGAR and WATER. There’s nothing synthetic about it. And the bees only rarely need a LITTLE bit of sugar water to help them get through, because if they’re provided with enough nectar, bees will make a shit-ton of honey. Most hives generate more honey than they can ever use.

And when a hive starts getting too full, the bees may swarm and try to go find a new place to live. Do you know what happens to a more than three-quarters of swarms that leave their hive? THEY DIE. Yup. Either they can’t find a new hive, or they run into predators, or they wind up landing somewhere that humans don’t want them and then exterminators get called.

So removing a few frames from the hive, taking out the wax and the honey, and replacing them for the bees to fill with new comb and honey and larvae is actually GOOD for the hive. The bees stay busy, they’ve got frames to fill, the queen doesn’t feel the need to go anywhere, and their human buddies can help keep them safe from natural predators and pesticides.

The mutually-beneficial relationship between humans and bees has existed for literally thousands of years. People keep hives, bees pollinate crops and make honey, people harvest the honey, the bees get extra protection and can happily buzz away keeping the plants healthy and making more sweet sugary goo.

Honeybees are an endangered species. If they die, not only does your vegan diet become completely impossible, but the entire planet is royally fucked.

And do you know who’s doing more than anybody else to keep them alive and make sure we don’t all starve?

BEEKEEPERS. And they treat those bees like their own damn children. They’re not going to feed them toxins or “steal” all their food, they want the bees to be happy and healthy and THRIVING.

Being vegan is absolutely fine, but don’t go trying to tell other people how to eat and don’t sound off on shit until YOU educate YOURSELF. Try talking to an actual beekeeper sometime. Or at the very least, read an article by a beekeeper instead of relying on someone else’s scare tactics.

hello hello and happy new year !!!! i’m bia | @thegreenau and i decided to take 2018 by the reins and create a studyblr. 

here are a couple facts about me:

first of all i can’t type at all lmao i always have so many typos its terrible and i’m using autocorrect right now so i don’t scare everyone away

my name is bia and i use she/her pronouns

i’m sixteen years old and born and raised in california

i’m of indian descent and i am muslim

i’m in my junior year of high school, set to graduate in 2019

i play tennis and i swim

i love traveling, i love reading, i love one direction (yikes look at my main), and i love connecting with people on this website because we have interests in common

i used to love studying. learning and studying were some of my favorite things to do and ever since i hit high school i kinda started hating those things, which is terrible because i force myself to get good grades anyways. i want to love studying again, and hopefully having a studyblr will help !

i’m in four ap classes (ap chemistry, ap english language, ap calculus ab, and ap psychology) and i aim for straight a’s

i’m also taking spanish iii and choir

school is very important to me and like i mentioned before, i want to enjoy it as much as possible. i think i should stop dreading it considering that i spend all day in school and it consumes some of my time at home too.

List 10 goals you have for the next 10 years, write it down or save it somewhere you can find it again, then tag 10 people.

To be happy with where I am. Hardly anyone knows if where they are is the right place, I want to understand that.

Be confident!!! I have come so far and have loved to watch my confidence grow. I can’t wait to see where it has gotten to in 10 years.

To be working hard. As long as I am showing some serious effort, I can be satisfied. 

To still be learning Latin, because truth is, I am nowhere near where I want to be. Hopefully, ten years is a good time span to improve…

To befriend more people!!! I have made so many new people in the past few months and it has made me such a better person. I want to continue.

To read more. I have just started reading more and finding time to read, so I hope I continue that.

To make changes where changes are necessary. A lot of people don’t quite believe in quitting, but I think sometimes quitting is healthy. Sometimes, we give things our all, but they are doing us more harm than good. Some changes are necessary.

To take risks!! Some risks are good and can teach us important lessons. Risks don’t have to always be scary and huge. Some are beneficial.

To laugh at myself more. I take things wayyy too seriously and I hope to change that.

To stop procrastinating. I have literally had this in my drafts foorreevveerr, so I hope to get things done when I can, rather than just when I feel like it.

I can’t think of ten people to tag, but I encourage everyone to try this out! It really helps to put things in perspective, even though ten years seems like a really long time.
