You cannot make everyone think and feel as deeply as you do. This is your tragedy … because you understand them, and they do not understand you.

@therainingkiwi dude, me too. i honestly have been hesitant to say it for a while because i wasn't sure how it would be received, but it's nice to know i'm not alone in my line of thinking. percy and annabeth would be foster parents of every demigod whose mortal parent won't step up. great addition, dude!
I carry a container full of stars in my pocket.
I hand them out to cashiers as the card processes. Like a little crow handing out shinies. Never know who needs a star to make their day.
Once while in the mall, I passed a perfume counter with a girl with sad eyes. I paused. No transaction. No reason to stop to interact, but those dark sad eyes.
I walk back and hold out the container, tiny knickknacks tinkling in the motion.
“Hello, would you like a star?”. It’s awkward. But very little grace is needed to offer something pretty and shiny.
“Why?” Her response is unexpected. Intense. Shocked. Staring with import at the container.
“Just a cute thing I do. Never know who needs a star.”
I feel sheepish. Usually it’s a quick interaction, a star offered as a receipt is passed. Too quick to process the idiosyncrasy of the moment. Too sudden to not be excited for a cheap little star made out of stone.
“My best friend just died.”
Her face is lowered, sad eyes looking at the stars in the myriad of hues.
“She had an entire sleeve of stars. Tattooed all up her arm…”. She traced an invisible path on her skin with delicate fingers.
She looked at those stars and the strange giver with significance. She chose her star of onyx and asked for a hug, happily given.
Coincidence. Miracle. Serendipity. Mundane magic. Whatever it was.
You never know who needs a star.
”oh so how did you get into writing?-“ no, writing got into me. Actually it infiltrated my brain, starting with the slow takeover of my room with books to the extremely fast claiming of my notes app and now there’s no way to stop it and no way for me to stop.
shoutout to everyone who wants to infodump but cant string together coherent thoughts to form sentences and instead just look at you like this
how much do the demigods really know about Percy?
Frank and Hazel first knew him as just a guy who showed up with a goddess on his back. everything he does from that point onward is equally bizarre, and certainly impressive, but perhaps not exactly legend-worthy. by the time they’ve won the battle against Polybotes at New Rome, their experience with him confirms he’s a badass, but the hints and jokes he drops about his past can’t all be real, right?
Jason, Leo, and Piper would have been showered in stories at Camp Half-Blood. did you know, Percy fought and killed a Kindly One and the Minotaur before he even got to Camp the first time? did you know, he was the first one on our side to suspect Kronos was rising? did you know, he revealed who poisoned Thalia’s Tree? did you know, he and Annabeth held the sky? did you know he crashed his own funeral? did you know he made a hurricane?
did you know, did you know, did you know?
but how many of Percy’s stories do the campers really know? what did Annabeth and Percy keep to themselves in their retellings? do they know Luke forced Percy to fight to the death in an arena? were they told Percy actively chose to be the subject of the prophecy to protect Nico, who almost certainly hated him at that point? do they know Percy was the reason Mount Saint Helens erupted? do they know he fought Hades and his army, and won?
the campers all think Percy is a legend, but when they find out there’s more? that’s when they start to think of him as a god.
today i found another pair of my absolute holy grail jeans that i had in high school approximately 6 years ago that i wore until i had ripped and patched the crotch and ass three times and literally could not get them on anymore in exactly one size bigger while i was thrifting.
reblog for good luck at your local thrift store
Think about it. Sure there is the comedy of him being a Hellenistic pagan but what if he was literally any other kind of pagan.
Chiron: you are a demigod. The old gods abandoned by modern people are real.
Pagan Percy: old? Abandoned?
————————–—–—————————————–—
Chiron: and now we sacrifice some of our food to the gods
Celtic pagan Percy: oh! alight! I sacrifice this to Danu!
Chiron: not like that!
Danu the mother of the Irish gods: something just happened.
————————–—–—————————————–—
Annabeth: we need a god’s blessing to to do this!
Celtic pagan Percy: does it need to be a Greek god?
Annabeth: it was never specified.
Percy: *pulls out a candle and prays to Morrigan*
Morrigan the Celtic goddess of war: *shows up* yeah sure you have my blessing.
Percy: thank you lady Morrigan.

Jason: do you respect any gods?
Celtic pagan Percy: The only one in the Greco-Roman pantheon that I respect is Hestia
Jason: why did you specify Greco-Roman
Percy: I respect the Celtic gods
Jason: the what?!?
Percy: (:
