Witch Tips for Better Casting:
Within the last three years, I haven’t had a spell fail. This post is to help you understand how you can have a higher success rate.
1: The big three:
When casting a spell of any kind or size, you must ALWAYS have all three of the following: a) Intention- Your intentions must be crystal fucking clear and have enough integrity so that they cannot be broken if you get distracted/interrupted during the casting. This cannot be done overnight. It takes practice and meditation for at least a few years to get to a point where your intentions are pure and powerful even in an extremely robust environment.
b) Passion- You have to put your fucking soul into every spell, no matter how small. Casting a spell is a lot like having sex. It will be a little awkward, disheartening, and/or disappointing if you don’t put your soul into it. You are connecting to the forces that govern this reality and asking for a favor. You’d better have the decency to inhabit your truest self for that.
c) Presence- Great, so you have your subconscious mind and your soul in the game, but where is your intelligent mind? You can’t let your mind wander either. This is probably the hardest of the three to accomplish every single time because shit happens. Maintaining complete focus takes a lot of spoons, and you have to set a part of your life aside to do so.
2: Location, location, location!
Being a city witch can be tough, you don’t have the wide open spaces as a rural witch. Yet, it is important that you can find a place that is somewhat quiet, has been sanctified, and most importantly: has a connection to the forces that you’re dealing with. We are witches. No, we don’t have to be secretive about our crafts as much these days, but we still need our privacy for the actual casting. Here are some recommendations: Rooftops, empty subway cars, the shower (If noise is limited enough), off the trail at a nature conservation area, in a public park when there aren’t many people about and the noise is minimal, and abandoned buildings (Please be careful if you do this, they may have structural issues, and you’ll be breaking the law, so be sneaky and smart about it)
But, overall, all you need is a place where your thoughts do not flee from you. A place where your mind can hone in on the task at hand and you can connect to the universe in the manner you need to.
3: Spell design:
Be sure to put a lot of thought into your spells. Sometimes, there might be a better spell for the desired results. I’ll give some examples:
a) Trying to pass an exam? Instead of casting a spell to help you pass, it might be better to cast a spell to help you study and retain information. Then, take it a step further, and apply an essential oil to your wrist while you study, then apply the same oil again just before the exam. Compound the spell using other types of magic. Draw a sigil for memory on your body, glamour yourself so that you can take the test in peace without distractions, ect.
b) Trying to cast a love spell, but it never really seems to work? How about casting a spell on yourself to increase confidence? then cast a glamour to draw attention to you. Draw sigils on your body that help with articulation and speaking clearly, or sigils that assist in decreasing anxiety and over-thinking. Then go talk to them. Be yourself. Be confident. Be the badass witch that you are.
Most of the time spells that target the caster are far more successful than those that do not. If it doesn’t target the caster, it will take a lot of spoons to cast it. Casting a spell that would affect a situation that is already pretty likely takes a hell of a lot fewer spoons than a spell that affects an unlikely situation. You must work WITH nature, not against it.
Magickal Tips to Get Through Exams
📓Keep a clean wishbone with you for good fortune
📓Take a bath for good luck with ginger root, cinnamon, and basil
📓Meditate with yellow candles for memory, intelligence, and positive attitude
📓Paint your nails yellow or green for success
📓Draw sigils on your notes and pencils for good luck or knowledge
📓Recharge yourself using amethyst crystals if you’re feeling tired from studying
📓Eat soups with pork broth for intelligence (If you can’t eat meat a pumpkin or mushroom soup is good too)
📓Make a rune chain with runes for knowledge
📓Make green salts by combining sea salt and green herbs associated with luck and success and use them in a bath
📓Make simple bath bags with your favourite corresponding herbs and salts

I have been feeling very uncreative and haven’t been too productive in my music lately, so I made a creativity spell jar to help me get back into the flow of writing and playing!
Ingredients
Paprika- for energy
Bay leaf- for success and strength
Sage- for mental and emotional health
Rosemary- for clear thinking and creativity
Basil- for confidence and creativity
Citrine- for creativity
Amethyst- for creativity
Clear quartz- for a clear mind
Yellow candle to seal- for creativity
I put violin bow hair and a guitar pick in there so that I had it more focused and personalized on what I want
I don’t chant or come up with things to say before hand, I tend to just tell each ingredient what it’s purpose is. Also while creating the spell jar I visualize what I want this spell jar to help me do. I picture myself playing the violin or guitar, writing music, singing; and keep that image going until I’ve finished making the spell jar.

This spread doesn’t have a name yet, but it’s one I use in order to get a good idea of where I stand/where things are going when I begin to work with a new deity, or to check in with one I’m already familiar with.
Card 01 - Who is this deity? You can basically look at this card as doing two things. The first thing is verification, to make sure you know which deity you’re dealing with. I’m especially in love with this position because I have a problem of asking after a particular deity and then getting a different one answering me when I do this spread.
The second part comes into play in figuring out which aspect of a deity you’re dealing with, if it comes to that. I have noticed that a lot of the deities I work with will present a COMPLETELY different side of themselves to others. It’s nice to know who you’re getting.
Card 02 - What will our relationship be like? This card kind of colours how I interpret the other cards in the reading. A friendly, easy going relationship will cause me to look at the cards differently than a distant, business-like relationship. But it also serves the obvious purpose of warning you of what you’re getting into.
Card 03 - What do they want from me? If you’re picturing me asking this question in a sort of desperate and hopeless way then you are correct XD;; But yeah, knowing what’s expected or required of you is always a handy thing to check.
Card 04 - How can I best make this happen? It’s kind of difficult to determine how to actually go about what you need to do, that thing and that’s what this card is for.
The first time I did this reading, it was hijacked by another deity who wanted to go out of their way to make sure I knew things were over between us — and the card I got in position #3 was the Two of Swords and the card I got here was the Ten of Swords. I needed to let go and acknowledge that our goals are too different to really reconcile with each other. And in my case, to do that, I needed to realize that the circumstances had changed irrevocably. To continue on my last example, what was getting in my way of moving on was my deeply rooted fear of change, of having to rebuild, and an unwillingness to dismantle what was no longer working so that I could build something better, and a fear that if things went wrong, I would have no safe space to turn to.

I really like the way this spread’s positions interact with each other. Card 3 (what’s expected of you) and Card 4 (how to best do that) are diagonal from each other, and I’ve personally gotten a lot of insight from having card 5 directly in-between what your relationship will be like and what you’re going to be doing in that relationship. When laid out, the cards kind of go back and forth between your perspective and the deity’s, so it’s kind of like a conversation in that way.

🌞What Is Litha?
🌻 Litha is the celebration of the longest day and the shortest night of the year. The sun god is thriving and at his most vibrant peak, giving warmth to the earth and growth all around. We are celebrating the potential and successes that surround us. From now on the days will begin to become shorter again and darkness will begin to take over. The summer and warmth are still sticking around for a while, though, and it is still a very happy occasion. We are celebrating the pregnancy of the Triple Goddess with the Horned God. The Oak King is currently ruling the waxing half of the year while the Holly King is ruling the waning half of the year. The Holly King and the Oak King are battling with each other and the Holly King will eventually overrule the Oak King. Litha is a time for important magick and major spell work that needs to be put into action; It’s the best time to complete any huge magickal workings that need tackling. Before the darker days return, we must celebrate.

🌞Activities
🌻 Tackle the most challenging and most anticipated spells and rituals at midsummer, the ones that require the most energy from you; what better time to do it than when the world’s energies are at their peak! It’s the best time of the year for rituals to do with fire,faery magick, love, passion, energy and luck for the warmer times to come.
🌻 It’s also a good time to renew any tools or create or purchase any extra magickal tools you may require.
🌻Throw a midsummer bonfire or have a fire ritual. Or organize an outside gathering to simply enjoy the sun! There are loads of different ways that you can do this, a traditional midsummer bonfire would (obviously) be outside, although if this is not an option, a wood burner inside would also be fine. Burn pieces of old oak, light them on the evening before midsummer, then let them burn out as they reach the morning. It is also common to scatter herbs on the fire. Some Wiccans also burn the nine sacred types of wood (birch, rowan, ash, alder, willow, hawthorn, oak, holly and hazel) to bring them good luck and a good harvest. During the midsummer bonfire they would jump over the fire, then let the fire burn down completely and sometimes collect ashes from the fire and scatter them on the fields or on their herb garden to bring good fortune in the harvesting season coming in the near future. You could also keep some ashes for luck within spell work or rituals.
🌻 Create a god’s eye: it is typically made from wool or string and its purpose is to give protection and luck for the darker and colder days to come. Hang the god’s eye above your altar or on your door.
🌻 Go for a walk and enjoy the peak of summer! Collect things from the natural world that you need for magickal workings and to place at your altar. Have a picnic or barbecue or even just go to the beach or go for a bike ride.
🌻 If you work with the fae or just like to appreciate them, midsummer is the time for the faery rede. At this time, the fae will be riding magickal animals across the countryside, so hang out, either outside your house or in a nearby field, Bells and offerings such as sparkly decorations and food can be used to create the perfect area for the fae.

🌞Altar Ideas
🌻 Light green, yellow, gold and red candles to represent the sun god at his peak and the green earth at its fullest.
🌻 Decorate your altar with summer flowers such as sunflowers, carnations,poppies and hydrangeas.
🌻 Place a ring of flowers around your altar or around specific items for protection.
🌻 Pictures of the sun or ornaments symbolizing the sun honour the sun god being at his peak.
🌻 Oak leaves represent the Oak King, who has been ruling for this hald of the year, but will be laid to rest soon. Oak in different forms can be relevant to Litha.
🌻 Gold, yellow and orange ribbons and cloth can be draped at your altar.

🌻 Warm-colored vegetables such as butternut squash,sweet potatoes, carrots and tomatoes are all great to eat around this time of the year. They represent warmth and the wonderful produce we receive from the summer.

🌻 Ice cream- not only is it cooling in the summer months, it also represents the colder days to come.

How to contact and introduce yourself to Aphrodite (this is based off of personal experience!):
First off, set up some candles in an area (preferably red, pink, or white) and get an offering ready for her. (can be seashells, jewelry, chocolate, incense,or anything that you relate to love)
Now, cast a circle and light the candles.
You may meditate if you wish (which is what i did!), but this is not needed.
In your own words, invoke Aphrodite and welcome her to the circle. Once that is done, Introduce yourself to her and tell her a bit about yourself. Tell her about your likes and dislikes, what your favorite foods are, etc. Give her the offering, and let yourself feel her energy around you. You may do extra devotional acts after doing this like taking a warm rose bath or doing research on Aphrodite. Now is the time that I waited for any signs that she excepted me to be her worshiper/devotee! Signs that I got were doves flying over me, seeing pictures of her in public, finding rose bushes at parks, cravings for honey or apples, being stung by a bee (Hehe, I know that may sound weird but I got stung by a bee! I’m not sure if this is a coincidence or if it was Aphrodite trying to get my attention.), and a sudden longing to go to the beach more often.
