Oh what a time to be alive, I think, as I look at the results of the EU election in my home coutry, Germany.
The second-strongest group in my home country (AfD) is far-right, supports Putin (even had Russian spies in their midst), wants to literally DESTROY the EU, wants to revoke women's and LGBTQ+ people's rights, -
and that's just the beginning. And I can tell you where it'll end. And we had that same situation about a hundred years ago. Back then, Germany lost its constitution and started a genocide. And yes I'm talking about the Nazis.
I am scared. Not just of this political climate. I am scared because a lot of the people I know and am lucky to call my friends and acquaintances don't have a German passport, and because this party will want to get rid of them, or do anything they can, at least.
I am scared, because I am a trans man undergoing hormone therapy. It is, regrettably, a very vulnerable situation to be in in this political climate, because all they need to do is ban one type of medicine and claim it to be harmful-
or perhaps they will just revoke my rights to exist peacefully completely.
I am scared, because all this literal danger to the German constitution needed to do was speak a few pretty words for the camera, post it on Tiktok, and the people believed them blindly. So many haven't read the election program, so many don't know what these people want to do-
but they hate the other parties. So why not elect the one party that actively threatens the freedom and equal rights of our country?
I am scared. Maybe I won't be first in line to be shot, but I am standing in the queue.
And what scares me even more is that I can't understand HOW this situation could even happen. Were our voices not loud enough? Didn't we cry out and warned them often enough? Why did so many people choose to ignore the riots, the pleas, the thousands and thousands of voices?
Just "to make a statement"? Is voting against peace and against freedom and against equality a protest now? Is humanity so easily influenceable that they tune out all the voices on the streets? Or was I just optimistic, am I really just living in a country where we want war and supression and censors and dictators-
because that's what this is going to boil down to. And I am scared.
Scared of this country. Scared of the people in it. Scared of the future. Scared of what this predicts for the next election in 2025. Scared of the visibly easy manipulation of the masses.
Scared, because I KNOW that history repeats again and again and again and again and we claim to learn from it;
and yet, we don't.
May 10, 2024 - Hundreds of radical environmentalists and anticapitalists have broken through police lines and fences and stormed the terrain of the Tesla Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. They are attempting to stop the planned expansion of the factory, which would mean the destruction of surrounding forest and farmland. The factory also uses immense amounts of water, and all to sell shitty electric cars to give people the idea that personal consumption choices can save the environment from destruction, and make fascist Elon Musk even richer than he already is. The actions in the past days have forced Tesla to temporarily shut down production at the factory. [video]
Stop posting about the European Elections. It is so annoying no one cares

"If the Israeli assault stopped today, and we decided to hold a funeral every single day for each Palestinian killed in the last eight months, it would take us 100 years to honor them all."
The Palestinian speaker at the UN Security Council highlights the devastating toll of casualties among Palestinians resulting from the Israeli genocide in Gaza.
Just a reminder to my European followers that the European Parliament elections are coming up and they are very important! The far-right parties are projected to win a lot of seats and many of the left/environmentalist parties are expected to do poorly.
This could have serious implications for major issues like climate action in the EU. It is very important that young people turn out to vote, EU elections typically have relatively low turnout but the composition of the EU Parliament does impact the lives of people in the European Union in a lot of ways.
What do you think Joe and Nicky are doing right now?
Do you think they'll go to Malta for the summer and relax? 🥰🥹🥹
Ok...
I know this is just a silly fun anon ask, thank you so much for sending it to me unprompted Nony 💕💕 and I'm sorry to make this serious... but unfortunately I don't think they would be in Malta this year.
The Old Guard, both in canon and fanon, are extremely involved in humanitarian crises. There is not a doubt in my mind that they would currently be in Rafah. I know that sometimes our escape from the goings on of the world is to think about our fandoms, but we as fans put The Old Guard into every major military/humanitarian event in history, and that's what this is.
I hope that they get some time in Malta soon, I really do. But even if the fighting stopped tomorrow I think they would still be in Gaza for months, if not years, helping.
"We fight for what we think is right."
absolutely losing my mind that this bit after Joe gets back from the supermarket got cut
We’ve been afforded more time than any lovers I can name. And still, every moment we scrape together feels precious.

Thank you so much .. Forever Grateful wallah! Sorry to bother you But I am really desperate
hi firas! yes! im sorry for being slow on replying, i'm focusing on one goal a day for more focused traction. our last goal was renad's (which reached 5k/25k) so let's work on reaching another goal
firas's gfm is stagnant and he has 7 family members who need to get out of gaza. let's try to get it to 27k (another 5k) to help their survival in khan younis while the border is closed, and ensure his family can come out once it's open!
for the "posting isn't activism" of the past few weeks, from the west bank:
The translation is accurate, he is talking about how israeli soldiers at (illegal) West Bank checkpoints have been checking Palestinians' phones for any social media posts about Gaza. They checked one man's phone and when they couldn't find anything, checked his stories archive on his instagram. When they found a post about Gaza they beat him savagely until they broke his nose and teeth, and then filmed it and took pictures and uploaded those to his own instagram story. they also livestreamed the whole thing themselves (he believes) on TikTok.

award-winning palestinian children's illustrator baraa awoor writes:
"what use is it to be an illustrator of children's books when the world has sentenced the children of your country to the death penalty, to vanish, to genocide?"
some of baraa's illustrations:
this is an illustration for youssef, whose mother is remembered running desperately into the hospital asking if anyone had seen a "small white boy with beautiful curly hair, his name is youssef," a description which was remembered by millions when she finally identified his body:
this illustration is for young omar, who was hugging his little brother and teaching him how to repeat the shahada after him (a prayer spoken by muslims before their death) as he lay on his hospital bed:
"we want a new year that doesn't kill us or our children, we want it a year without blood, without screaming, without pain, we want a new attempt to get our lives back, or something that resembled our life, even if life is a lie we still cling to it, return life to us—a new year's card unlike any other year:"
a little update on my kaysanova lino cut:
(here is my original post with the sketch)
I think I'll get around to cutting this and preparing the coloured layers next weekend
also a little bonus: I already cut a smaller version of this a couple of days ago but it ended up being too small and didn't look right (therefore the second version which is a bit more than double the size)
so here's a little comparison:
Below the cut is a template email to send to Edinburgh Pride regarding sponsorship from Aegon, who have investments linked to the genocide in Palestine. Please feel free to use this text or edit it and make it your own and send it to contact@prideedinburgh.co.uk
Dear Edinburgh Pride,
As a queer person living in Edinburgh, I was deeply saddened to learn that the march partner for Edinburgh Pride 2024 is Aegon.
In December 2023 the ‘Don’t Buy Into Occupation Coalition’ published a report that showed Aegon have US$564million invested via shares and bonds in companies operating in illegal settlements in Occupied Palestinian Territories. Source: https://dontbuyintooccupation.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/12/2023_DBIO-III-Report_11-December-2023.pdf
We are watching a live-streamed genocide every day - over 36,000 people in Palestine have been murdered by Israeli forces, including at least 15,000 children. The brutality of these atrocities are unthinkable, with evidence of torture and targeting of hospitals, ambulances and refugee camps.
We all have a responsibility to do what we can to end this genocide. As queer people, we are part of a rich history of resisting oppression and dehumanisation - of both ourselves and those we stand in solidarity with. Pride started as a protest against homophobia, transphobia and police violence. It is an important moment to come together as a community to celebrate queer joy and resilience.
But how can we celebrate using profits stained with the blood of our siblings in Palestine?
Aegon has $564million invested in companies that have been listed by the UN as “raising human rights concerns” for their operations in illegal settlements in Occupied Palestinian Territories, In 1948, 750,000 Palestinian people were displaced from their homes and lands and since then, Israeli settlements have been used to spread this process of colonisation.
In addition to this figure, Aegon also has major investments in Eaton Corp Plc., who supply parts for helicopters and fighter jets to the Israeli military and have recently been the target of major protests at their factory in Dorset. They also invest in Amazon, who support the Israeli military with surveillance technology used against Palestians.
Israel has long used ‘pinkwashing’ as a tactic to justify the brutal repression of Palestinians, using queer people to legitimise this horrific violence. We refuse to allow this to be done in our name.
The tide is turning on companies like Aegon that profit from investments in the companies complicit in genocide. Recently, both Hay and Edinburgh Book Festival have dropped Baillie Gifford as a sponsor after over 800 authors called on them to divest from companies involved in Israel and the fossil fuel industry.
I ask that Edinburgh Pride:
Calls on Aegon to commit to divest from companies involved in supplying technology to Israel and operating in illegal settlements.
Drop Aegon as a sponsor until they are able to show evidence of divestment.
Publicly call for a ceasefire and a free Palestine.
There is no pride in genocide.
I look forward to hearing your response.

This was posted almost 24 hours ago but it's always good to remind people to buy eSims for Palestinians. Israelis always cuts off Gaza whenever it's committing its most heinous crimes
If youre looking for a way to visibly support Palestine whilst also financially supporting a family-owned Palestinian business, then please consider purchasing a Hirbarwi Keffiyeh.
They are a traditional clothing item for Palestinians, and they have become a symbol of solidarity with Palestine for people all around the world. You do not have to be an Arab or a Muslim in order to wear one. According to the Hirbarwi Mission Statement page: To the world the kufiya will forever be a symbol of liberty. Those who wear it express their desire to see all people, across the world, live peacefully and with self-determination.
They can be warn as a shawl, or a scarf, or a headpiece, or any way you like so long as it is done respectfully. They come in a huge array of colours -- though the one most traditionally known with Palestinian solidarity is the original black and white design.
The Hirbarwi factory is the only original Keffiyeh factory left, and is the only place left in the world that still makes true, Palestinian Keffiyehs. All others -- even the ones that claim to be Palestinian owned/made -- are imitations that have been made in a country like China or India. If they don't have the Hirbarwi logo, then they're fakes.
The factory in Palestine is temporarily unable to ship any new orders, due to both the blockaide and the overall crisis in Gaza, but they are taking pre-orders for later, so you can give them money now and get your delivery once the borders open -- OR, you can purchase through one of their verified international partners, who are listed on their website.
If the stockist in your nearest country is sold out (i know that the Australian stockist is entirely sold out), then check the others. The one listed for Ireland ships internationally and looks like they still have plenty of stock.
🙃
The Israeli genocide of Palestinians has been ongoing for 70 years.
I will probably never finish any of these, so I'm just going to leave them here
I love lino, too! the cutting feels kind of meditative to me
I'm done with the black part now but it doesn‘t really work with the size I chose (i went way too small) I'll still post it when I get around to printing it but I will also be making a bigger version because frankly they (and this sketch) deserve better
(also thank you! I'm so ready to be done with my exams) :)
@feral-queercore-punk
the sketch I made for a lino cut I'm working on, I'm not sure about the colours yet though
also additionally, sth I played around with yesterday:
the best person I know.
this one's for you, edwin paine
