in light of Trump's inauguration speech declaring multiple national emergencies that require him to take god-knows-what executive actions immediately, I'd like to remember this chapter of "On Tyranny" by Timothy Snyder:
7 days without a single morsel of food entering Gaza 2 million people are trapped in Gaza, including my family who need food every day.
Please don't forget Gaza and my family still need you Please donate to us.
Hey y'all. Here's something for you.
Some days, survival feels impossible. The weight of grief is too heavy. The loss, the fear, the uncertaintyβitβs endless.
I lost 25 members of my family in a single attack. My mother. My sisters. My nieces. The people who made my world feel whole.
And now, I am left with my father and my younger siblings, trying to survive with no home, no certainty, no way to rebuild. We have been displaced twice already, moving from place to place, never truly safe.
But we refuse to let war steal everything from us.
π I still dream of rebuilding. π My siblings still have hopes for a future. π We just need a little help to make that possible.
Even $5 might not seem like much, but for us, itβs a sign that someone still cares. If you canβt donate, please share this post. Every act of kindness matters.
Thank you for keeping our hope alive. π
Happy black history month!
As a former librarian I'm actually required to remind you that many libraries that subscribe to Libby are opted into a program that lets you subscribe and access magazines for free with no wait
And that this is actually a really fun, low cost way to not only access news and larger cultural magazines, but also to get free patterns for many different crafts that you can screenshot if need be and that lower the financial barriers to entry for trying new things
From my experience working in both academic and public libraries, many libraries are use it or lose it funding-- I have to say this because a lot of patrons feel guilty for how much they use the library and how often they're using it funny enough, but the worst thing you can do for libraries is not try out new features and not use what's already given to you as much as possible.
The numbers that come as a result of your patronage are how most libraries justify their continued existence in times of financial hardship, which sucks but, go check out some magazines on Libby!
the fucking budget bill of hell passed the house that removes HRT from medicare, general medicare spending cuts, student financial aid cuts, and oh yeah lets the teump regime ignore court orders even harder and lets for even harder executive overreach. they did this shit at motherfucking 2 am so people wouldnβt notice too
it passed house like i said but still needs to pass senate.
tell your senators to invoke byrd rule which is a goddamn real thing apparently
call your goddamn senators i swear to god
and if youβre in DC thereβs a protest going on as we speak
go do your civic duty you piece of shit

π¨ Urgent Appeal: Save My Familyβs Life Before Itβs Too Late π¨
The war is growing more brutal by the day, The planes are raining down shells, burning, killing without mercy. Today, the Israeli army ordered us to evacuate our area immediately amid heavy bombing. Since this morning until now, they have killed 70 people, and my family and I barely survived. π
Most families have been displaced, but we do not have the money to escape to safer areas. The cost of transportation and displacement is extremely high, while what little we manage to gather is barely enough to keep us from starving amidst the siege, border closures, and insane price hikes. π
Time is running out, and danger surrounds us from all sides. We need to urgently gather the cost of evacuation and transportation to save our lives.
Please, do not leave us alone in this hell.
Your donation now means saving our lives and giving us a chance to live. π₯Ήπ«

By now, you all must have seen the news that Gaza had officially run out of food, as one of the main aid suppliers in Gaza, World Food Program, had announced that their stock has been completely depleted, leaving just a few days for community kitchens to function.
This comes after more than 50 days (and counting) of Israel's complete closure of the borders, preventing food and medicine, among other life essentials, from entering Gaza. There are children crying out of hunger with trucks loaded with over 100,000 tons of food mere minutes away from them, which Israel continues to prevent from entering besieged Gaza.
This also comes after Israel had deliberately destroyed swaths of farmlands in Gaza, specifically targeting them with bombs and chemical weapons that destroy the chance of growing crops. Israel also made sure bakeries are destroyed as well as water sources.
Diabolical is an understatement when it comes to the Zionist entity.
There are still things you can do. On top of raising awareness and protesting when possible, independent organisations like APN are working directly with farmers in Gaza to rehabilitate the agricultural sector and restore local food systems to combat famine, counter the blockade and build food sovereignty. You can donate to their Revive Gaza's Farmlands initiative here.
Additionally, keep in mind that this means whatever food supplies remain available in Gaza now costs astronomical amounts of money, so keep sharing and donating to individual fundraising campaigns. Gazafunds is a good source if you're not sure where to start. Remember that your donations and shares are often the only source of hope for these families.
