Why are you carefully sidestepping the fact that he is the only black character in the original film? Is it somehow more realistic to turn him into a figure who only interacts with the family through the lens of government defense against extraterrestrials? Or if you’re brown and asexual and have bpd, you can’t be nonbinary as well because that would be too much.
