The Divine Flock. Some call them crazy, some even dangerous. Some even say the cult is hiding dark secrets. But, in all your life you have yet to find one. After all you should know should there be any dark secrets: you are a member after all! A member, not only of the Divine Flock, but also of the Avis Academy, the best school the cult has. Your life is quiet and follows a strict routine, at least until two Strays from the outside, the normal, world are allowed in the normally so closed off grounds and as a newly appointed Wing it is your job to keep an eye on one of them. With their arrival some of those dark secrets may finally come to light…

Genderselectable MC: cis male or female, trans male or female. However due to growing up in a cult, MC wont know that trans is a thing/what it means, this is something MC can learn about. The same goes for sexual orientation: play as gay, bi, straight, aroace or ace, but be prepared for consequences.

Pick your level of devotion: be a devout follower of the teachings of the Divine Flock, reject it partly or wholly, or simply not care. All of it will have consequences.

Choose one of various school clubs, your volery, and get unique text. Ranging from dance to school security, to managing your social media page.

Important people: Your flock, a group of younger pupils you were responsible for before the Strays arrived. You may not be their Wing on paper anymore, but you still hold a special place in their heart! They do miss you and are looking forward giving you a present on your birthday!

Your volery: whichever volery you joined, you are going to met pupils that are just as enthusiastic about your chosen interest as you are! Some more than others.

Your parents. It’s another question if the relationship between you is good, but important it surely is!

ROs: Known as Fuchsia King, one of the Strays. Her eyes are hidden behind glasses but you could swear she sees everything! Rarely loud, she is calm and softspoken.

Known as Chase Watson, one of the Strays. The complete opposite of Fuchsia. Loud, colourful and it seems everything out of his mouth is either a curse or shameless flirting. He is not a fan of the Divine Cult.

Wing Thrush, your self proclaimed best friend. Always happy, always smiling and somehow always at your side, he went through the Wing training with you and would rather lose this status than lose you. Your new responsibilities are making him a little bit jealous and he would love to interview the Strays and know more about the outside world.

Wing Astoria, while not being in any volery she still seems to know everything about anyone… her tiny smile is a rare gift but as you get to know her you will find it a gift often shown only to you. She shows interest in you, now make sure she doesn’t lose it.

They say that small towns hide the darkest secrets. At least that’s what your mother always said about this one. You thought she meant how Father Simmons has a well-known drinking problem, how Mrs. Gladstone’s son looks more like his uncle than his father or that the mayor has been in power for 15 years because of voting fraud. Things everyone knows. Human Things.

But now as partially eaten bodies have been left in alarmingly rates all over this small town the world has no record of, you now know she meant something else.

Play as peculiar and disturbed individual surnamed Crown after the very town your ancestor founded, returning after a traumatic event two years prior that landed you in a psychiatric hospital. As your comeback coincides with a rapid increase of disappearances you find yourself in-broiled in a town conspiracy, a past that’s more alive than ever and the ever shifting self interested motives of those who claim to be your allies.

Quintessential good-boy-next-door. The most most-liked teenager in town. As son of the mayor and pageant queen, Imre has an image cultivated by him and maintained through his status which is why his back door activities are his cherished secrets. He is rather eager to help you… isn’t he?

Nia Mir

In the very real and present high school hierarchy Nia would be one of the nobles. As a wannabe doctor with a loathed father and an absent mother her dream is to leave behind this backwater town and all it’s weird phenomena that she doesn’t care to know more of. She liked you, once.

Lorcan Stark

Every town needs its bad boy and so Lorcan has aimed to be as every bit worthy of that title. The shunned son of a murderer and his victim, he is not really thought of as having a future beyond prison and petty crime especially in a town like this. You don’t remember a time when he didn’t hate you.

Salvatore Crown

Your brother. The heir to whatever fortune your family has left and the only one of the family who seems to like you.

Orla Crown

Your sister. No one ever knew what she thinking, a closed box full of unknowns. You knew she kept things, especially from you.

Mayor Duran

Seems like every other politician. Oddly enough no one ever really sees him, an entity watching over the town.

Mother

She never acted like one to any of her children. She’s never sober anymore.

Mrs. Mir

Disappeared years ago without a trance. No one remembers her first name. Was thought to have been clinically insane.

The Garden of Bones demo is very much in-progress and it will undergo more edits as the story continues. I also plan to continue upgrading the CSS and aesthetic of the game right alongside everything else! EVERYTHING is subject to change and nothing is final, especially the worldbuilding.

So expect some retconning and even small personality changes for the ROs as the story moves along...

There is at least one known error that I'm working on where you might get a repeating passage, but it won't break the game. Also it's not currently mobile-friendly although I anticipate adding that with the next update, so you'll need to play on a different device for now!

That said, I'm very excited to present the first chapter to anyone who might wish to play it! I've been working on this project since October and it feels great to finally have a shareable version.

If you're hoping to befriend (or romance) the Younger Twin, don't sweat too many of your decisions in this chapter... within reason. Most of your attempts will be deflected by their natural inclination to hate everything.

That said, you can definitely make them hate you slightly more.

If you were hoping to meet the Elder Twin you'll have to wait a bit longer - but that doesn't mean won't get any information about Z in the first chapter!

A Moon so Cruel - Upcoming IF

A Moon so Cruel is a 17+ slice-of-life, paranormal mystery (with optional romance) interactive fiction book written in Twine- where you, a college student, suddenly find yourself with a spirit attached to your side.

This game is still in early stages of development, and will undergo significant changes as I develop my own writing and new ideas come to mind.

It was meant to be an ordinary college party. Dozens of kids drink until they puke their guts out, couples grinding on the dance floor, and the only smell in the air is that of drugs. Your intention was a brief two-hour stay, merely for a couple of drinks before finding a ride back to your apartment. You stuck to the plan, making sure to never go above your alcohol tolerance.

However, everything took a dramatic turn when the lights began to flicker, and the ground started trembling. Suddenly, every step you took felt as though you were walking through a torrent of frigid air.

Now, you find yourself compelled to confront the hand fate has dealt you. You must seek innovative solutions to strange challenges, all while grappling with the demands of a hectic college life.

THE GHOST: Felix/Edith Mongrove

The spirit that seems to be haunting you. They told you they weren’t here to harm you, that they had a deep sense of empathy and kindness. You’ve yet to test it out.

You can only assume they’re above 6’0, they don’t walk around like normal humans - The Ghost likes to float instead. They’re stuck in a grey hue, the only identifying features being hair that falls to their shoulders and the out-of-fashion academic style.

THE JOCK: Max/Laurie Tanner

Someone you see occasionally throughout your school, surprisingly, you tend to have a portion of your classes with them. However, they’re always on the move- whether it be physically with sports or mentally with fast paces in the library. Their vitality is contagious, and they often try to drag others in their ideas with a strong self-assurance. The Jock likes to take charge but put a little spin on the dramatics, often making a 5-minute-long presentation to last 15 minutes.

Max and Laurie both stand at 5’7, one of the smallest jocks around campus. They both have pink buzzcuts, originally taking it as a dare freshman year of college- which ended up being their main hair color. Freckles adorn their skin, but usually covered up by streetwear attire.

THE GUITARIST: Kade/Jade Salvatore

The person who rings up your weekly coffee order, and also plays as a guitarist for the local band in the background. They’re a challenging one, that is. They thrive on pushing boundaries and questioning the status quo, fear rarely holds them back. The Guitarist is known to chart their own course, often using their sheltered independence as a way to fuel their creative pursuits. Oh, and they also have a wicked motorcycle.

Kade stands at a good 6’4 with brown eyes and long eyelashes. Jade is tall for a woman, exactly 5’8 on the dot. They both have a long, shaggy mullet that fades from blonde to black- it pops out against their olive complexion and Italian heritage. The Guitarist is often seen wearing a style that mixes between y2k and grunge.

"Keep an eye on them."

This was supposed to be another mission like any other. The conflict between Drenea and its twin kingdom, Kysia, is broiling once again. Spies amongst the Drenean court once again becomes a growing concern. Tasked to keep track on a suspected spy and follow them back to their hideout, you instead find yourself in the frigid region of Kasal.

The snow continues to pile high and the winds rage on. The sudden blizzard shows no signs of relenting. Thrown off course, you are forced to take refuge in an abandoned manor in the mountains. Worse yet is the company, a soldier that hails from your kingdom's greatest enemy nation. But it's either them or the howling storm and whatever starving beasts lie in the woods beyond the manor.

You just hope the manor will be enough to stave off the cold.

Drenea's Shadow, the ever loyal and skilled spy and assassin of the kingdom. You are the blade hidden in plain sight by the royal family, a warning to all who may oppose them. A blight on scheming nobility and the boogeyman used to scare naughty children, your reputation far precedes you. Loved or hated, you are a tool for the royal family, a blood sniffing hound kept on a short leash.

The Lupine Knight (they/them)

There is so much to say about the Lupine Knight, yet at the same time there is so little. They are one half to the greatest military duo in Kysia, some may say in all the continent. Working side by side with the second prince of the enemy nation. Citizens of Kysia sing their praise to the divines, and the elite of Drenea cannot deny the skill they possess. But outside of martial might, there exists nothing but rumors and speculation.
