âIn my opinion, camp is simply a matter of doing things as if you are doing them. Diving into a swimming pool? Throw your arms heavenward and give it the full Esther Williams treatment. When you dive into a pool as if you are diving into a pool, as opposed to executing an earnest quotidian plop, the result is magicalâthat pool is transformed from a grody Band Aidâstrewn chlorine bath into a veritable LAGOON! Smoking a cigarette? Perform the action as if you are a French existentialist.â â Simon Doonan, Transformer: A Story of Glitter, Glam Rock & Loving Lou Reed

LINDA: I stayed for a few weeks, while they were finishing the White AlbumâŚWhat I liked about Paul when I lived there in London was the books that were around and painting. Paul would say, âLetâs paint,â and he and Ivan Vaughan would get paints and go down in the basement and the three of us would paint on the canvas. It was fun. Paul is so much more cerebral than people think, because he was quote 'the cute Beatleâ. I hate this 'Was it John or was it Paul?â thing because they were both talented. They were both artists. They are equal for number one.

âI had a drum kit up in the attic â it was like a cinema attic, music, whatever you want to do up there. Charlie came, and so did John Bonham. Weâve got three drummers, just hanging out.
Bonham got on the kit. But because it was just like ⌠you know, itâs not like onstage, where you nail them down, so theyâre steady. It was just, like, there. So as he was playing, the bass drum was hopping away from him.
You think, âAh, man! [Laughing] That would have been a great little video, a TikTok or a photo that would have gone worldwide!
But in the â70s, I had parties, and youâll never find any photos because I wouldnât let you take photos, you know, in my house. But I always think, that would have been a great shot to have.â

Released this week, Aftermath was the Rolling Stones' first album to feature exclusively Jagger/Richards compositions and, keen to see what their closest competitors but good friends were up to, the Fabs sent an aide out to purchase copies from the HMV shop on Oxford Street.
