I am going to do a thing for myself and re-read the personal finance books that I own. I'm not where I'm supposed to be in life.
The job I have, though I like it, is kind of a dead-end job. I see no opportunity for me to move up in the company where I work. I work at a place where everyone has been at their positions for decades. A few people have been around since the company was founded in the 1970s. I make between $22-$24 per hour at my job. In NYC, where I live, that can afford me a room in an apartment, and I'd have to have roommates to cover the cost of rent.
But, I need/like the money and stability. So I stay. Furthermore, it *is* a nice place to work. The atmosphere is quiet, and everyone gets along. No tension, no beef, no jealousy among employees. Everyone is highly intelligent, and focused. I've been thinking about having a 2nd job or some part-time thing, but that would require me to leave my aging mother alone, and she can't do lots of household duties anymore. I should be nearby.
A gloomy old pantry of the Rynwood estate, formerly the Vanderbilt estate in Old Brookville, Long Island, has been revitalized into a bright, springlike work space by designers Anne and Karyn Tarasoff.

I was here yesterday, after I visited the Alabaster Bookshop 1 block east & around the (left) corner. Then, I went to Barnes & Noble, which is 1/3 mi. (~0.5 km) north of Strand Books.
