Northern Gaza Has Been Starving For 2 Months Now

It's about time for LGBTQ+ youth to take back their power, so we're awarding grants up to $10,000 for projects that support LGBTQ+ youth in their own communities and schools

"But what if my school's not accepting or doesn't have a GSA club?"

We hear that - that's why LGBTQ+ youth can pair up with various different types of organizations to apply for a Changemakers grant, including:

• Nonprofits

• Public libraries

• LGBTQ+ centers

• Public schools and GSA clubs

• And other youth-supporting community organizations!

A fave example: One of our previous grantees from a GSA club in Vermillion, South Dakota couldn't get their school on board with their idea. So instead, they paired up with a local mural artist organization to create a giant sparkly unicorn Pride mural on the side of a downtown restaurant - which went on to earn the town a USA Today Reader's Choice award for small towns with the best art scenes!

I no longer have any hope of survival like I had at the beginning of this genocide, and I am certain that I will die in the next few weeks or maybe days. I have been sick with severe viral infection for days and cannot move from the mattress!

I suffer from nightmares that are so closely resemble reality that I no longer differentiate between reality and dream.

I live in a world other than the one I claimed to be building! I am a community activist who lived on the fantasy that the world was free and just, and I sought to bring rights not only to my people, but to many men and women in third world countries!

I was shocked that I was not from the third world! Indeed, we are the most humane and moral! Yes, because the world approves, supports, and finances the genocide we are being subjected to, legislates it, and gives reasons for for 58 days! While we are a people who have been living on occupied land for 75 years and are still searching for our rights and communicating our voice to the world!

My message to the world: You are not innocent of what is happening to us, you as governments or peoples that support Israel’s annihilation of my people. We will not forgive you, we will not forgive you, humanity will not forgive you, we will not forget, even if we die, the history will never forget .

A Message to friends: Thank you and the supporters around the world. You have been compassionate and very strong. We ask you not to lose hope, even if the world seems completely unfair and your efforts have not yet resulted in a ceasefire.

‎‏I am manal from Gaza. I am 30 years old. I stand before you as a person trying to support my family of 3 members, me, my husband, and my young daughter. We are living in very difficult circumstances after the occupation launched the war on Gaza. We were displaced from our home and live in a tent that does not protect us from the cold of winter or the heat of summer. We live in extreme poverty due to the circumstances and there is no income. We are no longer able to provide the necessary supplies of food, drink and others due to the insane rise in prices. Thus, my source of livelihood was destroyed and we live in very difficult conditions in tents. It is difficult for me to find the words to describe what we face every day in the tents without food, medicine, or drinking clean water, along with the oppression, helplessness, psychological pressures, and daily traumas that everything causes. Around us and unable to care for our families, the fear of danger, disease and death never leaves us

Now, I find myself in this difficult situation, and I humbly ask for your help to save the lives of my family, especially my little girl, by getting us out of Gaza to Egypt and building a new life outside Gaza or helping us get money to buy the necessities we might be able to afford. Asking for help is not easy, but we had no choice because we want to survive and strive to rebuild our shattered lives. We are very grateful for any help you can offer, no matter how small, because your help will go a long way in alleviating our suffering. I hope you will share my story with your family and friends.

I do think with news of the ceasefire, everyone should read up on what the ceasefire actually means and what the different phases of the ceasefire are. here's a good source for what we know as of now:

Some of my initial takeaways are:

this ceasefire is temporary (as of right now, six weeks long). negotiations will continue but israel is not offering guarantees about continued non-violence. BDS remains important. be vigilant, keep pressure up

rafah crossing will open one week after the initial phase starts

israel will release 2000 prisoners

more aid will get to northern gaza, look out for ways you can help

if the second phase is initiated, israel will do a complete withdrawal from gaza. which means the initial phase will not include that. again i say: BE VIGILANT

if the third phase is reached, reconstruction will begin "under international supervision"

nothing is over, even if this is a relief. do not tape out, do not tune out.
