we as a collective do not appreciate this scene enough i think,, ik it isn't canon but I wish it was. it guts me
on the surface the show is like "woo he's rising to the occasion" but really it's just the creeping dread and tragedy that like..... he's got him. this is the moment piccolo wins.
Because gohan isnt just physically unable to escape anymore. Now he has officially succumbed to the belief that this is what he has to do. Piccolo did the legwork kidnapping him, but his already-mounting trauma and atlas complex traps Gohan more effectively than piccolo himself could. Like.. damn. I know the literal world is at stake but institutionalization is still institutionalization. He wasn't even actually TRAINING yet, but this is a point of no return of sorts.
The best kind of tragedy is the kind where you don't know what you would do either; talking about both gohan and piccolo. it's awful and it's so compelling and i'm so glad the filler gave us these moments
obligatory disco elysium screenshot dump ive played this game twice it has sucked so many hours of my life so here are some of SO FUCKING MANY harrier duboisisms that made me shit myself

gotham is exactly the right amounts of wet and socioeconomically unstable to have spawned an INSANE grunge scene you just know their local shit is like the sonic equivalent of getting hit over the head with a car battery
G… gender roles? [I open my hand, confused, and reveal a fistful of dnd dice] Which one do I…?
recently watched the first dbz broly movie and deeply enjoyed the part where piccolo scruffs vegeta like an unruly kitten

the worst part about having huge autistic fantasy worlds in your head is that it takes like 8 billion years to turn that into something substantial you can show people
