How could she ever hate them for what was at bottom merely their weakness? She would probably have done things like those that had befallen her if she had lived in one of these houses. To measure them by her own yardstick, as her father put it. Would she not, in all honesty, have done the same as Chuck and Vera and Ben and Mrs Henson and Tom and all these people in their houses? Grace paused and as she did, the clouds scattered and let the moonlight through, and Dogville underwent another of those little changes of light. It was as if the light previously so merciful and faint finally refused to cover up for the town any longer. Suddenly, you could no longer imagine a berry that would appear one day on a gooseberry bush, but only see the thorn that was there right now. The light now penetrated every unevenness and flaw in the buildings and in the people. And all of a sudden, she knew the answer to her question all too well. If she had acted like them, she could not have defended a single one of her actions and could not have condemned them harshly enough. It was as if her sorrow and pain finally assumed their rightful place. No. What they had done was not good enough. And if one had the power to put it to rights, it was one's duty to do so - for the sake of other towns, for the sake of humanity and not least, for the sake of the human being that was Grace herself.

It does feel bad sometimes. But tbh I don't even know my own eye color, they look like they have all the colors but with low saturation. And other people sometimes too have it kind of hard to decipher
My entire childhood I didn't understand why do people put eye color in the description of other people, or as one of the main attributes of a missing person. Because I thought "Who even notices this? Eyes are too tiny to be paid that much attention to." Fast forward some years later I find out people DO just casually look into everybody's eyes long enough to notice and remember this detail and I'm the autistic odd one who is distracted by the moving mouth. Still funny to think about.

Moms will just say the most hurtful shit off the cuff randomly like you'd need to get me to sit down for a whole day to formulate something as mean and they'll just do that shit off the dome
here it is. It was on youtube for a few years, but I think it has been taken down this year. I had downloaded it because I am insane so I am now re-uploading it on vimeo at this link https://vimeo.com/1012742172?share=copy
Unfortunately, there are no subtitles :(
I might be able to translate a good amount of it but I don't know how to make subtitles.
It's a pretty bad movie in my opinion. It follows Rümelin's autobiography very loosely and the actors are... not great. Costumes are shit, haircuts are debatable. And yeah, that's kind of it. I do not understand how this got to the Festival di Venezia I think it's a bit ehhh you know what I mean. I don't like it. I really don't. It's a good movie to watch while stoned out of your mind cause the actors have a very strange line delivery.
Here is also the soundtrack. Yes, I have this downloaded too. :)
Also, I literally just found out that the actress playing Aurora, Francesca De Sapio, was in the Padrino II.
Anyway, Sacher-Masoch fandom, watch party when???
On another note, if you want another Sacher-Masoch related media coming from Italy look no further than Crepax's Venus in Furs. This one is actually very nice, and you can also find it in English. Unfortunately, I can't find it any more online T_T. I had a link to it but now it's dead. If I can find a physical copy I'll scan it and upload it somewhere 'cause it really is a shame :(. Here are some of the pictures I can find online to give you an idea. It's very nice and it's a very short read.
And also the Intervista Impossibile by Oreste del Buono is fantastic. https://www.raiplaysound.it/audio/2020/09/Le-interviste-impossibili--Oreste-Del-Buono-incontra-Leopold-Von-Sacher-Masoch-f7dd930b-3d68-47cd-95ad-9c73bec45638.html
As we celebrate 106 years since the formation of Czechoslovakia today, one of the most important moments in our history, I want to say how much I appreciate how much we are still close, even after 3 decades of having separate countries.
I love how we refer to each other as brothers.
I love that we are the first countries for every new president and the last country for every leaving president to visit.
I love that whenever there is any disaster, we are always among the first countries to offer each other help.
I love how many events, competitions, etc. we hold together.
I love how much cultural space we share.
I love how often I still hear people from both countries say how we never should have separated when meeting people from the other country, even to strangers.
I admit that I used to take so much of this for granted and it's only in recent years that I realized that this is sadly not a usual way to get along after countries separate, especially after seeing how some countries (russia) treat their neighbors, or learning more about how tragic some separations were, like with former Yugoslavia for example. This just makes me appreciate so much more how we managed to separate in a completely civil way and keep our relations so strong.
May it always be so!
Veritas vincit! And happy anniversary to us all!
I might be finding this out late but Sewerslvt is back and alive? What a relief😯
