Something I think is personally gorgeous about being an atheist is the joy of knowing my fuck ups in this limited body have zero effect on my Long Sleep. A lot of people think Atheism is reductive and scary. It's not! Your fear of God os scary! I find it beautiful, liberating, and puts the onus on ME and my actions, which I have to be accountable to, NOT MY THEOCRATIC BELIEF SYSTEM. It also reminds me to not take anything for granted! It makes me wonder a lot about the incredible depth of evolution to create empathy, love, and joy. My soul is tied to my body. My soul is who I am at every moment, and then the memory of my personhood in other's minds when I am gone in 60 some odd years. But, when I am gone, I will have zero concept of any of this because I will cease to exist. I hope to enjoy more moments where my Atheism brings me freedom of expression, joy, and a drive to continue to feel so lucky to be alive.

A Seattle-area guaranteed basic income pilot gave low-income residents $500 a month to help reduce poverty. Employment in the group nearly doubled, and numerous unhoused residents secured housing. The Workforce Development Council of Seattle-King County launched a 10-month guaranteed basic income pilot program with 102 participants in fall 2022. New findings by research firm Applied Inference reveal that the $5,000 total payments improved participants' quality of life, housing, and employment outcomes.
Oh gosh look: another successful UBI pilot program.
Not only was employment doubled in the test group, their savings increased, and health & life insurance coverage tripled. Many participants got health insurance for the first time.
It's time to roll this out nationwide and with more money. The return on investment is undeniable and would be huge if it applied to everyone.
