Victors & Arenas

So, I thought it would be nice to write about the Victor's Arena's for fun and, you know, pain to my favourites. I did not wrote everyone in detail since some of them were already said, though I tried to extend as much as I could.

All the character rights go to @lorata, I am only responsible for the traumas I caused for her Victors.

Enough rambling, here it is:

Ronan (16th Games)

A desert or somewhere with a lack of water. His year definitely was a flashback of war and Dark Days and really, really horrible. He was like a squeezed balloon in the end, all the aggression, misery, bloodlust gone and just wanted to get out and...just exist.

Caius (17th Games)

An airship because in my headcanon, Caius admired when his parents taking him away with them with a plane trip which was about a family vacation (though he did not knew it was for escaping from war) and wanted to be a pilot. In a modern world, he would have, but it's Panem so he will get one melancholy Arena which brings painful, forgotten memories.

Iris (20th Games)

I wrote about it here but I'll quickly summarise that without spoiling much. Her Arena was an ocean with ice sheets on it and most of the tributes either got hypothermia or a monster coming after them if they are alone. After winning her Arena, Iris got half deaf and she had a very upsetting things happened to her constantly.

Luna (27th Games)

Mental asylum because why not? My version of Luna is quite Enobaria-like (especially about Iris) and her parents were not the best which I wrote about it. In her Arena, the tributes were placed in a room (three separate rooms with only one weapon in them) which their characteristics were match just to cause a lot more psychological pain since they would recall their past AND a sign to districts that Snow knows everything, even their favourite food.

Adessa (29th Games)

Abandoned laboratory for irony. Obviously she was marvelled about how interesting was it and for a moment she thought killing in here was a waste -only for a moment, dear- but then with the first blood she spilled, she easily got into the game. Her dissecting a tribute in the end was her plan and she got the gadgets for that- a win-win for her. Her Arena would be one of the most interesting for Two's since the Abbot's (Adessa's family, which I also created and she is/was a part of them so ~instant fame.

Hera (31st Games)

An aquarium. That year was definitely in favour of Four but she is Callista the Butcher's future mentor, she won't go down that quick. She stayed quiet and hid away from the tributes, made them believe she was drowned before last 5 days. She killed the last tribute with stabbing them with the broken glass of the aquarium, strike after strike, until they were a bloody mess. Needles to say she got her demons out of her.

Odin (32nd Games)

His was a normal, indoor one -as normal as Panem can get- and was all about staying alive and defeat the other tributes, or that's what they thought. The Arena was getting smaller at each day and triggered a lot of claustrophobia, even from the ones who did not have that. In the end he got a crown and a lost eyeball.

Callista (41st Games)

Calli's games were all about sex and blood and torture so I thought a brothel with a lot of sex-toys-turned-into-weapons would be great for her. In her Arena, she was not quick, obviously, and had the least kill count on the first day- it got better (worse for others) after that. She tried to be calm about her killings on the first day -just a stab in the heart, guts, or wherever the fuck she wanted, depends on her mood- but then a feeling came over her and she smeared innards into snow and make a pretty picture of it AND made sure no one attacked her during it.

Nero (42nd Games)

His games were the ones with no weapons so an apocalypse Arena for our Nero. There were loads of volcanoes, natural disasters at best and not enough food. From the Hunger Games canon, the cannibal tribute Titus (?) would exists in this Arena and became one of Nero's victims, thankfully. Though he did not like what he did, he was in relief that it all end and he will get love and hugs- oh. (Unless it turns into my Rock, Misery and Hugs which Adessa and Nero hugged for five times)

Brutus (49th Games)

Like Odin's, it was pretty simple and was described in To Love a Beast, so I will take that and add a memory erasing bomb which affected him partially- he heard voices he did not recognise and stuff like that.

Emory (52nd Games)

Her Arena was indoors and was in favour for outer districts so I thought it might be a house full of riddles and logical thinking must be required. The weapons were hidden in tricky places so most of the tributes choked one another or pressed on their throats. There were no windows so Emory's and tribute's understanding of time were limited.

Lyme (55th Games)

A survival Arena, nothing much to be done for others when Careers were all active and had Lyme as their leader. She was stealthy enough to sneak out from their tent and find undiscovered weapons and use them against the Pack in the end.

Artemisia (57th Games)

An Arena so much like Centre, it raised a flame of cockiness and the strong belief that she will win- or this would be the scenario if Six kept it in his pants but oh well, Misha is a though nut to crack weaklings.

Devon (60th Games)

A factory with lots of deadly machines to fight with. No weapons but if you're smart enough, you can create one as the mindset. Alas, he could not because there wasn't enough wood so he kissed people and slit their throats with a nail clipper.

Enobaria (62nd Games)

A jungle full of mysteries and poison and full of tactics. Bari was not the flashiest one in her games and most assumed she would die, until she proved herself with killing 5 tributes in Bloodbath. In her final fight, she was weaponless -weak- and her instincts got over and she bared her teeth and teared the boy's throat apart.

Claudius (67th Games)

All kids except for Careers as we know and I pretty much liked it so I do not have much to add except for some kids cuddling each other when they were sticky with blood.

Petra (72nd Games)

An apartment with three floors and wicked weapons. Petra was not a fool to not to notice the ends of her signature weapon was poisonous so she choose to use a weapon she had not excel with- which caused her trainers smack their foreheads but she got survived in the end, and it's all that matters.

Nero: If I had a penny for each time Lyme and Enobaria pretend they liked each other, I'd have two pennies.

Nero: Which is not much but it's weird that it happened twice.

D2 Victor birthdays with explanations if I can manage them.

Adessa- 22nd November. I honestly think she's a winter baby, she just seems like one. One of the oldest in her year, but unfortunately for her she was the littlest in her year as well. A Sagittarius with fire as her element, which contradicts her icy nature but oh well.

Calli- 31st October. Definitely a halloween baby- it's time to get freaky!- no idea if halloween is a thing in Panem, but either way she would throw the best halloween parties, complete with scandalous costumes. A Scorpio, which is neat because Scorpios display honesty with harshness, which Calli sort of does.

Nero- 22nd January. This is really just an excuse to have a D2 victor with my birthday. An Aquarius like me

Misha- 1st April. It's Misha and the day of pranks, enough said. She is an Aries and like an Aries is creative and imaginative.

Devon- 16th April. Quite close to Misha's birthday. Also an Aries.

Petra- 27th July. She is a Leo and a sun sign. I thought it'd be neat since her hair red! July hot! So sort of fire symbolism? And she has a quick, fiery temper so it all sort of ties in. It makes sense to me okay!?

Emory- 13th August. Emory like Petra is a Leo. Leo's are known for their drive, ambition and honesty, all of which I think are qualities Emory reflects. She tries her best in everything and doesn't give up.

Ronan- 25th December. He is a Capricorn and ambitious like Capicorns are said to be. He strives to improve the centre and makes deals with the president and such without overstepping his boundaries in order to help his district.

Enobaria- 24th October. She is a Scorpio. Scorpios apparently hold grudges a long time, and Bari just seems like the sort of person who'd do that. Holding a grudge against Lyme for being Nero's other Victor!

Claudius- 11th Febuary. He is an Aqaurius. Cause I wanted another Aqaurius Victor.

PS: This did not end up as angsty as I thought but considering the rise of my feelings, I might write more about it, so sorry Lyme.

As the vapour from her teacup rise, Lyme felt the intenseness of the whole situation once again. Every time she blinks, she can see younger Adessa -covered in blood and hands shaking with bloodlust though her face remained as cold as the metal of her old man's belt.

Lyme purses her lips and just focuses on the damn tea which tastes better with sugar. One sip after another, she felt, well, worse than she already is. Her cuticles which were tarnished by her picking the skin up was obviously visible.

Adessa looks at her, once glance causing the same affect as thousand blades and Lyme doesn't have the time nor the calmness to think how could that happen when she is so close to lose the last pieces of her supposed sanity.

"You had not touched your scone, child." Her grandmentor says and Lyme wants to vanish like how the amount of sugar dissolved in her tea when she added it to her tea.

Lyme waits for the question; what's wrong little girl?, Nero would say with his overwhelming sincerity and probably make a move towards her to stop her from peeling her skin off because it is not healthy for you.

It never comes.

"Oh," she says instead, her nerves taking away her ability to say something and it is not like she can make a conversation without messing up. Advantages of being a new Victor. "Hadn't notice."

Adessa was expecting an apologies or sorry, I have no appetite or just the right measure of nod and smile and stab. Poor her, she won't get any of that bullshit from Lyme.

Apparently Adessa does not mind that either, she simply looks at Lyme who feels attacked by an army of vicious ants in the face. "Okay, I'll not force you to eat, dear. Though I recommend the ones with lavender, quite tasteful if you ask me-"

"Well, I don't." Lyme says in a tone not even near to polite but oh well, too late for that.

"What was that, dear?" Adessa raises an eyebrow and her voice makes Lyme feel like as if she is chewing on an iceberg if that's possible. She, however, does not back up because that's not how you survive from death; no matter how far you run, she will always catch you.

"You heard me." she snarls.

"Certainly," Adessa nods, not an inch of her anger showing and it makes Lyme more frustrated because why is she not caring!? "However, I'd like to ignore it, you are young and raw and most certainly lack the etiquette but I have not expected you to knew it considering this brute attitude."

"I-"

"Oh, I am not angry at you, how can I?" Adessa muses and Lyme tries to calm herself because she is not a science experiment to inspect by the hands of Adessa the Great. "Though, I firmly believe ignorance is worse than crudeness so it is my duty to teach you one day."

There are things way more important than knowing how to use the right spoon but the burning feeling inside her wanted to prove Adessa was wrong and she can learn how to -or pretend to- have manners.

"One day." Lyme says and bites her scone, the flavor of lavender makes her tongue feel funny.

Adessa wraps her elegant fingers delicately on the holder. "Perfect. Callista shall join us too for making the meeting of you two easier for my Nero."

Oh.

Misha, looking at Calli from distance: Is she an F5 key? Because that ass is refreshing.

Lyme, done with this: Are you a software update? Because not right now.

Snow: I have no friends.

Ronan: Then what am I to you?

Snow: A headache.

Summary: Mentoring can be hard folks- most of the time it is.

Adessa headcanons:

Her favourite animal was a porcupine when she was younger. She is not a touchy feely person so naturally she favoured an animal which she finds adorable but not necessarily for petting. (She adopted one of Ronan's puppies, Resilience, but that's another topic to discuss.)

She has an obsession over carrots -her comfort vegetable, really-and eats them when she is not in the best mood because she can't eat liquor chocolate all the time.

A Sagittarius.

Adessa and Odin probably encountered few times before the games and ever since then, he is so young and gullible in her eyes, though he is not the Official Infant yet.

She had puppets when she was younger and she enjoyed playing with them- and make them have surgeries by cutting them apart, which is, not the most preferable thing for her parents. (Violet and Jameson are horrified.)

Adessa: Someone painted all my pantsuits to green!

Callista and Nero, knowing damn well they were the ones who were responsible for this 'crime': That's suspicious. That's weird.

So I made a map of my idea of the D2 VV layout, only my drawing skills are abysmal so I'm gonna have to talk about my drawing instead.

So about 2 the doctor's I have always imagine a two story building in the village with the bottom floor typical doctor stuff and a small overnight room if a Victor requires it. The second floor is where the doctor lives, so if a Victor requires the doctor in the middle of the night, the doctor is right there ready.

With 9, 10 and 11 I thought it would be funny to put Adessa, Hera and Odin in a sort of house grid together. Adessa does not find this amusing, she's in a different decade, they are both babies! But the designers of the village decided since they are close on age to put them together.

Also regarding 25 the Libary, it happened because I adore books and decided there had to be one in the village, for people like Adessa and Odin.

28 the lake is where the yearly Victor spring/summer barbecue before the games happened. People grill up food, usually Odin ends up on grilling duty. There's music and alcohol and fizzy drinks. Party games of course, but Victor style. And Calli's cats and Ronan's dogs run rampant through the chaos, sometimes chasing each other. One year Odin pushed Adessa in to the lake on a date from Callista, and Callista has it on tape. Callista was very pleased; Adessa not so much.

By the lake is Claudius's tree house. He's very proud of it.

Callista and Nero's houses ended up getting placed quite far apart, which annoys both of them endlessly. They have to walk so far! Callista does like that she's very close to the entrance of the village though, makes it so she doesn't have to walk as far in order to get out of the village.

There's 4 the meeting hall. Obviously, meeting are held there. But every so often, about 2 months or so a movie night is held there. Everyone joins, even people like Adessa who find such childish endeavours below her, and a name is picked out a hat. The person who's name is picked gets to choose the movie, and everyone brings snacks and stuff to share. Every person's name is put in the hat twice, and Ronan is in charge of putting the name in and pulling it out, and so maybe he puts his name in an extra few times. People have suspicions that he does that, but no one's going to say it outright, so movie nights turn in to watch what Ronan wants.

There's the fruit orchard, which any of the victors can take fruit from and sometimes they hold competitions to see who can pick the most fruit.

I think that's it, but if i remember anymore I will add it.

For Callista she is very good at dancing. Like crazy good, but I don't think there's any specific style she likes? I suppose if she had to pick one it would the tango, and she also likes dirty club dancing the kind where your just grinding on your partner while you dance.

Also for Callista cringy rom-cons. She dreads that anyone finds out, but she does genuinely love them since she can poke fun at the characters and tropes.

For Nero I suppose cigarettes, they aren't healthy and he knows that, so cigarettes are sort of like a rare treat for him when things are especially bad. I think he picked the habit up from Adessa? He was never explicitly told that she smoked, but he put two and two together with the boxes he would find of them sometimes. Though like him she only ever smoked when things got really bad.

For Adessa her fear that she would consider irrational is the fear of never being good enough. She's always pushed herself, and been pushed to be the best, to work the hardest. But what people don't realise is that she can quite self-conscious. She never feels good enough really, there's always something she's done, someone she's disappointed in her eyes. She gets better at realising that she is good enough when she's older, but there are times when it will creep through.

Also for Adessa I think something that people, mainly people outside the village find weird about her is how emotionless she comes across. She looks quite blank and unfeeling really, and that's something that puts people off her because they believe her to be so unfeeling, where in reality that isn't true. She feels a lot, perhaps more than most people do, but she just can't express it well and can't figure out how to express it well so she just comes across as blank.

Adessa:

Ronan: So, what, now I'm just suppose to do anything that Adessa does? I mean, what if she jumped off a cliff!?

Snow: If Adessa were to jump off a cliff, she would have done her due diligence regarding the height of the cliff, the depth of the water, and the angle of entry, so yes. If you see Adessa jump off a cliff, by all means, jump off a cliff.

Ronan: You jump off a cliff!

Snow: Gladly. Provided Adessa did it first.

Summary: Just when she thought fate would be kind to her for once, her mentor forced Iris to spend the time with her new Victor-sister. Iris wishes she had refused but everyone deserves a first chance, right?

Nerista (Nero&Callista) friendship headcanons:

They have anti-Valentine's date with each other, which is when they go out together as a 'couple' and do everything people do on 14th of February- from romantic notes to slow dance together. They do this because they are both single and Nero's 'love life' sucks and Calli is a generous person, darling.

He is her personal hair dresser. Whenever they do activities together, especially if the weather is particularly bad, Nero making Calli's hair with interesting designs is normal.

Nero is the only person Calli would ever hug. Except for Hera but you got the point.

Calli used to teach Nero-and she sometimes still does- how to please a woman and how to be discreet around them. Poor Nero might not apply this because of his cougars but it feels good to learn.

If Nero had a list of the people who he'd care for until the end of the world, Calli would easily make into top five or higher but not the first place. (His first would be Bari since his Victor tends to be...demanding for his favouritism.)

Odin: *breathes*

Adessa: How can someone be so juvenile!?

Nero: So, I have something to tell you.

Brin: Are you finally proposing?

Nero: How- I thought I was being smooth!

Brin: *sighs* You dropped the ring five times during our meal, love.

Brin: I even picked it up one time.

Summary: She was happy. She was sad. She was stable. She was mad. But above all, she was just a girl whose story never told truly.

Okay, I decided to add more because I had Iris feelings again- I have no control over those.

She is interested in psychology because she wanted to solve her problems without a professional help which is a questionable action done by her. (Normal, says Ronan, gotta get used to it.) And probably this would how she and Adessa got along. Because ~science bonds people.

She and Nero has an anti-Beetee time because they enjoy annoying Adessa besides disliking him for stealing Dess away from them. Like Grand Mentor like Grand Victor.

I have no idea why but I feel like she would kick ass in art competitions. Her and Dess probably had those at some point.

When Calli and Dess has a competition over making the best clothes for their pets, Iris always there to be judge as well as Hera because their Victors know that their Mentor will favor them. (Iris and Hera side eyeing each other and smiling fondly to their Victors.)

Violet and Jameson (Adessa's parents, if you hadn't read Abbot Family Values) chose her as their daughter's mentor because they saw Dess in Iris some way and thought the girl who got destroyed by everything, aka Iris, would like that as a surprise- she did in the end but it got a lot of patience.

Iris background headcannons to understand my recent fic 'Faded Rainbow' better:

• She had won the 20th, obviously, because I thought since Adessa won the 29th therefore it makes a great parallel for having a mentor/victor set at the start and end of the decade.

•She was born in July, because she is sentimental and a total Cancer in my head.

•She had major depression from her life in the Program and in her Arena and Ronan tried as much as he could to help her.

•Adessa is her 'Sunshine'.

•Her Arena was an ocean with thin ice sheets on it; the less resilient tributes got hypothermia and the others got something different, a spoiler I will not reveal yet.

So, I'll admit it was just an idea came over me when I sat down and thought If I define Victors by lyrics then what would they be and well, this happened.
