I Have Always Been A Liberal. Even With The India-Pakistan War, I Have Always Scoffed At The People That

I have always been a Liberal. Even with the India-Pakistan war, I have always scoffed at the people that tried to say that Islam is the problem and not just the extremist, terror cells in Pakistan. I wasn't excited about the idea of a war, but I saw it as the result of literally nothing else working out. I heard about Kashmiri Pandits, but I thought what happened to them was because of the militant groups coming in. I was sure that they'll be helped to go back home in time.

Now the Hindus in West Bengal are being slaughtered.

West Bengal has been one of the leading forces of the freedom struggle in our country. We have had brilliant philosophers, artists, dancers, poets, singers, screen play writers, writers everything from West Bengal. It is a state that produces brilliant intellectuals every year. Liberals and socialists. I don't know if you've ever talked to a Bengali, but they're the most capable, well spoken, talented people you will ever come across. It's the stronghold of the Shaktism sect in India. Ma Durga is revered the most in that land.

And now our people are being slaughtered. Hindus are being driven out of their land by the illegal immigrants from Bangladesh and certain extremist Muslims. It's like watching the Kashmiri Pandit exodus in real time. For centuries they've coexisted together with no issues, enriching the culture of Bengal, and suddenly brother has turned to foe. Houses and businesses are being burnt. They're looting people and issuing rape threats to women. People are being killed. They're throwing around bombs. They're attacking the police forces.

This is a land that has embraced refugees and shared everything with them. There was no reason to attack these people.

People had to cross rivers in boats to escape. 500 people had to leave their homes overnight because of the sudden extremists. Only Muslims were spared.

Locals say this has been going on since 2020.

Please, I'm begging with folded hands, keep the Bengali Hindus in your mind. Look at what they're facing. This is scary. If even the Liberal and safe Bengal can be turned overnight, no place is safe. What tf are people supposed to do?

And this is what our culture is. Imagine if we were just allowed to worship our gods and follow our culture and traditions in peace.

our ancestors were such simple people. gave up their land in exchange for the deity staying in their village for a day

Dude maybe stop projecting

this hinduphobia gang is so stupid its unreal because what the actual fuck do you mean that 'caste violence is an accepted fact' WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU ACCEPT SOMETHING SO INHUMAN.

atrocities are happening in YOUR NAME. people of your religion are commintting it, and you think its enough for you to just accept it?

this is fucking privilege. you think you get to stay passive while people are killed, raped, displaced, and tortured because of a centuries-old system that was designed to maintain your comfort and power?

if you really cared about people slandering your religion, maybe start with the people within it who are using it as a tool to dehumanise. maybe fix that first. maybe stop crying “hinduphobia” every time someone points out the rot.

framing hindus as colonizers vs muslims/arabs has to be even dumber than saying jews are not indigenous to the levant.

…do you know how old hinduism is?

“colonizers framing themselves as the oppressed so they don’t have to atone for their crimes told me the actual oppressed are oppressors so i’m just going to believe it without question.”

get a grip 😂 the earth is flat too, right?

people who know history: so arab colonization—

I have this in my drafts for so long now. But this was in the context of Shri Hari Vishnu and Bholenath. People tend to compare them too and try to put them against each other saying one is better than the other.

"My heart isn't so small that it can't give respect to both Shri Hari and Shiv Sambhu. My mind not so tiny to not comprehend that they're one."

No one can annoy me more than people who hate on Shree Ram but call themselves Krishna Bhakt or vice versa. Or compare these two to prove one lesser than the other.

They're the same person for god's sake.

If you think they would disagree with each other's actions then sorry to break it to you, you're just being stupid and don't understand anything about any of them.

Same goes for the people comparing Maa Laxmi, Sita, Radha and Rukmini.

THEY'RE THE SAME PERSON.

So trans women putting on makeup and jewellery is good. But Hindu women doing the same is bad. Isn't feminism about choices?? Talk about double standards.

And just like there are women about whom there's nothing divine, there are men who have no divinity about them. And they're the rapist, the misogynist, the अधर्मी. The ones who push people away from their dharma. And by dharma I mean duties not religion.

I'm sorry but you're just a misogynist. It's like when women call other women bad feminists because they married and had a baby early or because a woman decided to settle for traditional gender roles.

And okay I get it now, you're talking about the imbalance in beauty standards, I can totally agree on that. Hindus have no strict beauty standards though. We have gods with fair skin and dark skin. And they adorn themselves the same way. Mata Kali is a married feminine energy, we see her wear all sorts of shringar, plus a garland of skulls. Her divine spouse Mahadev, adorns his body with bhasma, snakes and also wears a garland of skulls. And they're both revered in Hinduism.

And at the same time, we have feminine energies like Mata Anusuya who was seen above the Tridevi. And she was a rishika. She didn't wear these fancy jewelleries. So maybe take a minute to think about whether you have a problem with jewellery or Hinduism.

Hindu traditions and festivals just enslave women and reinforce patriarchal practices, karwa chauth for example, a festival where a married woman has to fast and stay famished for whole 24 hours, NO water and food and some of them don’t even swallow their own saliva and why? for the long life and well being of her husband. Husbands are placed on a pedestal in hinduism, he is more revered than god sometimes while reducing women to obedient and self sacrificing caretakers . It reinforces the idea that a woman’s purpose revolves around a man’s needs, his health, his happiness, his survival while her own identity and agency is considered as irrelevant. In this religion women’s existence will always be tied to men and are expected to embrace such misogynistic ideals or else she’ll be labelled as a “too westernised housewife” or other names they love calling when you go against the system

Just imagine how our Hindu gods must feel when humans make fun of facial features.

Ganesh ji would feel bad when someone makes fun of someone's teeth.

Shiv ji and Mata Gauri must feel bad when someone makes fun of someone's eyes or their hair type.

Vishnu ji (and by extension Mata Lakshmi and Mata Gauri) must feel bad when someone makes fun of their skin colour or marks on their body.

Brahma ji would feel bad when someone is made fun because of wrinkles or early graying of hair or any signs of aging.

I have been thinking about this and realised that we don't actually have a deva or devi for beauty. People think it is Mata Lakshmi but it's not true. None of her Ashtalakshmi forms also have her represent beauty. Mata

The sibling pairs have different skin colours — Vishnu-Parvati are dark skinned, Shiv-Saraswati are fair skinned, Brahma-Lakshmi are golden skinned — and all of them are called beautiful.

So where does this concept of beauty even come from? That fair is beautiful and dark skinned is not? Does it come from the west? From goddesses like Aphrodite, Venus or Freya? Or were they also made to represent beauty in the modern world to suit white people's beauty standards?

So I decided to go out today. I usually plan it all out but today was spontaneous.

Luckily Jehangir Art Gallery was a part of it. And I'm glad I went there. The paintings and the art on display were majorly Hinduism related. Hindu gods, stories like Shakuntala, and Shiv ji's wedding to Mata Parvati, birth of Ganesh ji.

Ofcourse, photography isn't allowed, so I don't have pictures. Plus I don't click pictures of art either way because a phone cannot capture the true beauty of those amazing amazing art

But I did get a pamphlet/catalogue thingy for one of the displays -
