Job of "Scholars of the New World" is not only to fight the mutants created by the skelian stench. Because of the plague many of native monsters have spread across the dutchy and need to be eradicated. Irisa and Mira - other members of the group - fighting against a peculiar parasitic plant called Shakes which takes control over their host's body and mind. In the picture the host is mostly gone with only the heart left.

He is a blind pilgrim which came from the Holy Kingdom of Vosthall during the pre-calamity war to convert Skelian people back to papal effigism. He stayed in the Duchy of Skeluss because of the plague.
