*beginning to suspect my roommate is a pulley* hey man would you mind picking up this big crate by changing the direction of applied force, thereby reducing the force needed? no reason
I'll stop posting about this I swear, but this pissed me off so bad. it's basically identical to that 'cozy disco elysium' bait post but unironic
crazy how kim kitsuragi has such powerful gay swag that it makes the fan base collectively forget that one of his main character traits is being a massive centrist lol
I think one of my biggest contentions with the broader de fanbase (esp on tumblr), is the way people seem to think the 'point' of the story is ultimately uplifting. idk if I'm just a bitter pessimist, but to me, de is much more focused on the spectacular failure to affect change in late stage capitalism. the world of de is essentially a 1:1 mirror to our own, even the more fantastical elements like the pale are obviously meant to be analogous to the existential threat of climate change (I have way more thoughts about the pale but that's an essay I have yet to write). Harry's amnesia and subsequent rediscovery of his past is synecdochally representative of the revechol and it's past. as the player, you uncover both in tandem as you progress through the central mystery of the game. the fact that Harry's ultimate failure, his relationship to Dora, is revealed at the site of a failed revolution is very intentional; both are events everyone is desperate to forget, and yet they are inescapable, informing every aspect of the present reality. again, this is all very bleak, but honestly I think if the game had a more positive outlook I wouldn't have connected with it as much as I have. it's not particularly comforting or inspiring, but it is cathartic.
nobody tears through library books quite as fast as a 12 yr old girl with no friends
we live in a world where marriage as an institution exists and is unavoidably ingrained into almost every aspect of life politically, socially, and economically however when you talk about 'romanticizing problematic power dynamics in a way that harms people' the poster child for that is erotica that involves sensitive subject matters. it's crazy because over the past year and change i've been privy to the romantic expectations of hundreds if not thousands of people and let me tell you, middle to upper class men just still straight up think of women as either household servants, brood mares, or both. whatever sort of sexual degeneracy you think is being normalized in society because of triggering erotica is an absolute drop in the bucket compared to the fact that the current standards and norms of romance and sex are barely one degree of separation from what they were when women were explicitly considered property. sorry guys the bottom up approach of attacking horny fiction for being too morally degenerate never has and never will do anything to reduce sexual violence or spousal/partner abuse
gender to me is like a car i dont really want one and society would be much better if it was not structured around it. but i got one because it helps me get around and sometimes its fun to make it go fast

i need feminism because when jesus does a magic trick itβs a goddamn miracle but when a woman does a magic trick she gets burned at the stake
