That I'll never ride the bus back from college to my little town and sit with my legs over the stone wall watching the pair of swans floating by the boats, waiting for my dad to come pick me up.
Anyone under 20, and over to be honest, please cherish those peaceful little moments. I wish I had, it's something I'm trying to do more.

this one is prob what i would consider the first definitive piece of art I did of Alex that established this sort of look. The braid was a very essential part to how I drew him in the beginning, but these days I almost forget about it entirely.
this is a goofy idea i had of Alex and Yassen in that cutscene from Silent Hill. Not my best work, and I had never drawn Yassen before when I did this so he looks like about six different people throughout.

I was reading Devil and the Deep Blue Sea around this time so occasionally the art will have them in what is likely a very inaccurate uniform. Not happy w how Yassen looks, but Alex? Amazing. the little thing in the corner is a note from my friend telling me that Alex does NOT look like that.

I think my main concern with posting Alex with long hair is less about the non-canon aspect of it and more about how unintentionally feminine my art style makes him look.... I have no problem with it, but I'm not sure about other people haha.

Today I was helping run the booth for the local queer non-profit at the farmer's market and a woman told me that she would like a flag, pointing to our little bucket of flags. So I picked up the bucket and I brought it over and asked her which one she'd like.
"Well, tell me about them!"
"Oh! Okay! This one is the inclusion flag- its for everyone, including allies."
"What's this one?"
"That's the bisexual flag: it represents people who are attracted to two or more genders."
"Hmm... what about this one?"
"That's the nonbinary flag: it represents people whose gender isn't strictly 'male or female.'"
"Hmm... what's this purple one?"
"That's the asexual flag: it represents people who may not feel sexual attraction the way that others do."
She put her hand to her chest and got this really curious look on her face. "Tell me more about that!"
"Oh, happy to! So like if you're out with your bestie and someone real fine walks by and she's like 'omg look at him' and you're like 'girl get a grip?' Or like you just don't get what the 'big deal' is about sex or why everyone is so weird about it? But there's also room for like- you don't fall in love with the way someone looks, you're attracted to the person- their sense of humor and their kindness, or there's something about their personality that just makes it click for you? That's asexuality, too!"
And she got real quiet and seemed to think about it for a minute. So I grabbed our little informational sheet about different queer identities and handed her a copy. "If you want to do some research, this is probably a great place to start."
She thanked me and took an ace flag, stuck it in her hair.
Sometimes when you're online all the time, its easy to think that 'everyone knows about (topic), there's no reason to keep talking about it so much.' But while the people on the internet are real people, the internet ISN'T real life. And there are lots of people who do need to know that they do have community!
One of the jokes is that I'm a lot of people's 'patient zero' for discovering that they're queer. This is why.

Lingua Franca (2019) dir: Isabel Sandoval. The story of an undocumented Filipino trans woman living as a live in carer in New York
And
Carlotta (2014) dir: Samantha Lang. A film based on the life of an Australian trans icon and her friends and how they went from working class boys to household names. -A quick warning though this film is dark in places so please be cautious-
Both are centered around the trans experience, and I found both through looking at the work of actor Eamon Farren, and both are fantastic films that I wish were more well known.

It's the same here in Britain. Reform UK (far right lunatics who fired a candidate who was literally dead for not responding to emails) are catching up to the Tories and are the third strongest, after Labour and Conservative.
