Does Rose remember that she saw Ten on New Years? I like to think that she does, because it adds another layer to their dynamic.
Imagine: the Doctor just regenerated, he looks totally different and Rose had no idea what’s going on. He looks completely different, and yet she can’t help thinking that there’s something familiar about it. At some point she’ll remember: New Years Day, a stranger standing alone in the snow, asking her what year it is, then telling her she’s going to have a great year. It’s him. It has to be. He looks identical, even has the same coat. And who else would need to ask what year it is? She’ll never know why, but it’ll always be a thought, in the back of her mind, that no matter what he’ll end up there someday. Alone. Standing in the snow. Going back in time to tell her that she’s going to have a great year.

absolutely love this shot where rose is watching her home planet die off after five billion years and the doctor is just slaying off in the corner
Sherlock Holmes returning after the hiatus and being faced with the excruciating reality that his friends did grieve for him.
With Watson looking 10 years older and Mrs Hudson sitting him down and telling him very sternly that she will not have any of this selfish nonsense ever again, and Lestrade being amazed at his return but also clearly hurt and alienated.
And Holmes having to come to terms with that. To realise that what he thought of as a heroic self-sacrifice actually was a cruel and desperate act. And then realising that he did everyone an injustice for not acknowledging the true depth of their affection - simply because he never learned to like himself very much. Having to find a way to apologise and repent, and, when they allow him a second chance, allowing himself a second chance too.
the thing about holmes and watson is that its tempting to read it as a weirdguy x normie relationship but thats a misreading of watson who is also, and this is important, a freak

TWELFTH DOCTOR S10 E07 | THE PYRAMID AT THE END OF THE WORLD
I see so many appreciation blogs for Brett's Holmes but where is the appreciation for Burke's Watson? :(
The man was wonderful! Absolutely brilliant acting, insanely lovable portrayal of Dr Watson, the facial expressions, the tone of his voice, the everything. His Watson doesn't feel like a bumbling sidekick or a strictly professional partner. He feels like a steadfast friend who cares deeply about Holmes, watches him carefully, learns from him, and is inherently intelligent in his own way.
He's so sincere. I think that's what really gets me about Burke's Watson, his sincerity is disarming.
A Study in Pink - BBC Sherlock (2010)
“Three exactly the same”
“Fourth. There’s been a fourth. And something’s different this time”
I’m feeling sooooo normal about this 🤪
Oscillation on the pavement, always means there’s a love affair.

Never posted this one because. Erm. I forgot. Anyway what if 221B got a stray cat
Yes yes Holmes uses his talent for deduction to catch criminals but have you considered: the gifts so carefully considered they barely register as gifts. Watson, who has no family and few friends, doesn’t celebrate his birthday, hardly remembers it himself, and has certainly never told Holmes the date. And yet every year on that day they end up in a pleasant part of the country on business, with a little spare time to fish or stroll through the woods or eat a particularly good meal at the local inn. Every year Holmes gives Watson a small, oblique word of praise that sits in his mind like a warm ember. And every year Watson falls asleep thinking one year older, and it was quite a nice day.
But look how you care about John Watson. Your damsel in distress
“In your very last few seconds, what would you say?”
