Clingy!Johnny Cade x Reader

Your boyfriend has always been clingy. Though, at first, his clingy-ness was just him wanting to be near you, but now it was a constant want to literally be clinging to you. You didn't mind. In fact, you found it cute. You loved to run your fingers through his hair as he held onto you, his face buried against your neck. You loved to give him the love and affection he deserved and wanted.

Tonight, Johnny was more clingy than usual. His parents had been fighting and he had gotten caught in the crossfire. He had come to your house because he needed you. Your heart broke when you saw him. Such a sweet, caring boy, with a sorrowful expression, tears in his eyes, and a black eye. You had quickly pulled him inside and wrapped your arms around him. He returned the hug immediately, pulling you tight against him, a quietly cried into your shoulder.

You pulled back your head so you could look at his face, into his eyes. His face was wet with salty tears and his breathing was unstable. One of his eyes was surrounded by bruised and slightly swollen skin. You offered him ice for it and he accepted, so you brought him to your kitchen and got him an ice pack. He held it to his eye as you got him water.

Johnny drank it slowly before asking if you two could go to your room. You told him yes, so he put the ice pack away and eagerly walked with you to your room.

Once you were both in your room, you laid down on your bed. He took off his denim jacket and shoes, then got into bed with you. He laid on top of you, his face against the side of your neck, and wrapped his arms around you. You embraced him as well, and placed a hand in his hair.

Now, Johnny sighs as you play with his hair.

"Do you feel better?" You ask him tenderly.

"Mhm. I'm sorry for just showing up like this-" He says quietly.

"It's okay, I like holding you."

He smiles against your neck.

You stay like that in silence for another minute. You keep playing with his hair as his breath on your neck gives you goosebumps.

"Do you want to talk about it?" You eventually ask.

He shakes his head.

"Okay."

Many more minutes later, Johnny's fallen asleep on you. Your legs are falling asleep and you'd like to not lay there for hours, so you very carefully get out from under him. Johnny's a heavy sleeper so you're able to do so. Once he's off you, you get out of bed and then you pull your blanket over him. You gently kiss his forehead.

You sit at your desk and start working on homework that you've been putting off. Time feels annoyingly slow as you work on your boring homework, but soon enough you finish it. Johnny is still sound asleep and now softly snoring. You wonder if his eye still hurts.

The alarm clock on your desk reads 7:48. Maybe Johnny won't wake up till the morning. Quietly, you sneak out of your room to go get a drink.

Some 30 minutes later, Johnny wakes up. He feels for you next to him with his eyes closed but can't find you. So, he opens his eyes, sits up and looks around your room for you. You're not here. But he needs you. He gets out of bed and leaves your room.

You had gotten held up in the kitchen talking to your mom. 30 minutes had passed without you noticing. You decide to go check on him.

You meet each other in the hallway.

"Oh, you're up," you say.

"You left." He pulls you into a hug.

You hug him back. "I was coming back."

He huffs in disapproval. "Can I sleep over?"

"Of course. You don't have to ask."

There's no escaping this hug, his hold on you is too strong. You, however, would like to stop standing in the middle of the hallway.

"Can we go back to my room, love?" You ask

"If you lay with me."

"I will."

He lets you go, grabs your hand, then walks with you back to your room, where you'll cuddle and fall asleep in each other's arms.

mental: dal LOVES your humour. he rarely finds others to be genuinely funny, but he has never faked a laugh around you.

b = baby (do they want a family? why/why not?)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA no! dal hates kids, they freak him out, and even his girlfriend wanting kids won't change that.

he thinks he would make a lousy father, and he also doesn't want to bring a child into a world that he hates so much.

c = cuddle (how do they like to cuddle?)

he likes when you lean your head onto his chest and he can wrap his arms around you. he likes any position where he feels like he is protecting you, shielding you from the world.

it takes a bit to make him cuddly. he will NEVER be like that in front of the guys, he thinks it makes him look weak and vulnerable (his worst nightmare!). so complete privacy, and often a few drinks in his system, before he starts cuddling. if he's had a bad day, it takes even more coaxing.

d = dreams (how do they picture their future with their s/o?)

he doesn't have a detailed vision of his own future, due to the unpredictable nature of his life. he never knew where'd he be living or if he'd be in jail, so he decided a long time ago to stop worrying about it. now, he does intend to support you as you pursue your dreams. always. wherever your life takes you, he will follow.

generally speaking, dallas has never been on a great path. between violence and crime, and some shitty relationships, he is well aware that you are the best thing that's happened to him. that you have saved him from dark emotional places, and he wants to be better for you.

dal is finally confronted with his feelings when another girl is trying to hit on him at a party. she's very pretty, totally dal's type, but...he has a gnawing guilt. now it's not like you're dating or anything, you haven't even had a conversation about maybe possibly dating. he is free to do as he pleases, but he tells the girl that he's not available.

i'm whipped, he thinks.

g = gratitude (how grateful are they in general? are they aware of what their s/o does for them?)

he doesn't like when people do things for him, because then he feels like he owes them something in return. but when you do something small for him, he is very grateful for it, even if he doesn't acknowledge it much.

h = honesty (do they have secrets they hide from their s/o?)

yes, dal tries to be pretty open and vulnerable when you're alone together, but there are some things that he just doesn't say. there are details of his past that he isn't proud of, or that hurt too much to mention.

anything that pertains to you or your relationship though? he's pretty honest.

i = injury (how would they react if you got hurt?)

if you hurt yourself by tripping or falling over, he's gonna tell you how damn clumsy you are, with his big laugh (y'all know the one).

if someone else hurts you, it's an entirely different story. he'll track them down to personally teach them a lesson.

j = jealousy (do they get jealous? how do they deal with it)

he's got so many trust issues so jealousy is second nature to him...if you're talking with/hanging around someone he trusts, like your collective friend group, he tries his best to be fair. you deserve friends and other people in your life besides him. but if someone is hitting on you? oh lord.

he'll start with verbally attacking them...telling them to get their fucking hands off you or he'll beat their ass, basically. he's not scared of immediately throwing punches, but he knows that you hate when he instigates fights so willingly, so he gives them a chance to run off first. if that doesn't work, if they ignore him? he can't contain himself, and he's gonna create a massive fight.

because of this, everyone in tulsa is well aware that dal will protect you no matter what. people keep their hands to themselves if they know what's good for them.

k = kiss (how do they kiss you? how do they like to be kissed?)

in public, he's quick. you get a small peck or kiss to the back of your hand, if anything. otherwise, he cups your face in his hands and takes his sweet time. he loves lazy make out sessions, so your lips are swollen like one hundred percent of the time!

l = love (who says ‘i love you’ first?)

dal knows earlier on that he's in love with you, but he doesn't say that word until you do. he's too scared of being vulnerable and getting rejected to say it first.

even after it has been said, he doesn't throw the word love around casually. he saves it for special occasions, or when he knows you need it.

m = memory (what’s their favorite memory together?)

probably, before you were officially dating, when you went to the drive in. it was a scary movie and at one particular jumpscare, you grabbed his hand without realizing.

dal is used to being seen as the scariest person in any given room, but the fact that you went to him for safety?!????)?!!!?! if he wasn't such a hardass, he might just tear up!

n = nickel (do they spoil? do they buy the person they love everything?)

he's got no money, so he won't be buying much. he'll steal it though! gladly!

he loves when you borrow his leather jacket in particular, it makes him so happy (even if he doesn't show and pretends to be cold).

o = open (when would they start revealing things about themselves? do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)

he is not one for reminiscing, mainly because his childhood was so terrible. he doesn't like thinking about his life before you were in it. even when he does start to be more open and honest (several months into the relationship), he doesn't say everything. there are some things you are better off not knowing.

p = pet names (what pet names do they use?)

"doll" is a go to for him. he uses it on any occasion, and more so than your actual name.

"sweetheart" is saved for when you're upset about something, and he's trying to help. it makes his new york accent shine through so it's more like "sweethaaaht"

if he is trying to embarrass you/he's being sarcastic he's gonna call you something like "sugar plum pookie bear honey bun" cause he thinks it's hilarious, and everyone knows it's a joke.

"princess," if he's being a tease...

q = questions (what are the questions they’re always asking?)

"d'ya want anythin?" he asks, whether he's going to get a drink at a party, or running to get food. the gang points out that he only asks you this. if any of the guys (besides johnny) tried to send him with an order, he'll tell them to screw off and get it themselves.

"where are ya?" he finds it comforting to know where you are, not in a stalker-ish way, he just wants to know that you're safe.

r = rainy day (what do they like to do on a rainy day?)

dal doesn't give a fuck about the weather, he's gonna go cause chaos, rain or shine.

now if you're scared of the rain/thunder, he's on his way. he pretends it's silly and that he thinks your fear is stupid, but he loves when you cling onto him.

s = sad (how do they cheer themselves/s/o up?)

when he's sad? he likes to get piss drunk and forget about the thing that's upsetting him. it isn't until he starts dating you that he realizes others don't find that comforting. now, this is still dallas winston we're talking about. he gets incredibly uncomfortable if you cry infront of him, he has no idea what to say. he'll put a hand on your shoulder until you calm down. he will usually try to undo the thing that upset you, make it okay again, but sometimes he just can't.

with time (lots and lots of time) he gets better at comforting you. still, he's no sodapop. but he'll say things like "i's okay, doll" and "what happened?" rather than sitting in uncomfortable silence.

t = talking (what do they like to talk about?)

he likes to listen to you, offering commentary and teasing, rather than talking himself. he'll talk about random things going on at bucks, parties in the area, and his friends sometimes. he used to talk about all the chicks he wanted to hook up with, but those days are over...

*the gang is incredibly thankful those days are over...he used to overshare about the craziest sex stuff.

u = understanding (how well do they know their partner? are they empathetic?)

he tries to be an observant boyfriend, noticing what makes you happy and what makes you tick, but he's not used to caring about the people around him that much.

he also finds some of the small things you get upset over (a bad mark, an argument with a friend, etc) to be stupid/not worth the fuss. this is mainly because he's been in gangs and prison and knows that those details are minuscule in reality. still, he doesn't say that cause he knows it would upset you even more. so no, he's not the most empathetic, but never outright mean about it.

v = value (how important is the relationship to them? what is it worth in comparison to other things in their life?)

your relationship is the individual most important thing in dal's life, it's one of the things he values most. he can't believe you're his.

w = wedding (when, where, and how do they propose?)

he doesn't. he wants to spend the rest of his life with you and he knows a paper and a ceremony isn't gonna make any difference. also, the vulnerability is too much for him. even on a good day.

x = xoxo (how affectionate are they? in public/in private)

in public, he is only affectionate if he has to be. for example, if someone is trying to hit on you, he’s all over you. otherwise, you can only expect a hand hold or hug occasionally, and only if he is feeling extremely happy (not often!)

in private, he eases up a little. he is touch starved, so he can be really sweet when he wants to. but he isn't obsessed with 24/7 affection either. occasionally, he’ll cuddle into you and let his arm run up and down your arm lazily. he’ll kiss you softer, and try to talk in a sweeter tone.

y = yearning (how well do they cope when they’re separated from their s/o?)

he is fine being away from you as long as he knows that you're safe. like if you're at your house, with your family, he's fine with not being right beside you. after all, he does like having some time alone.

if you're at a party or other social event though, good luck tryna unglue him from your hip. it's just not happening.

he sleeps completely naked, REFUSES to wear any clothes at all. no matter what.
