Today was supposed to be just another day at the office. The same mind-numbing tasks, the same stale air, the same routine. The only thing that ever really changed around here was the gossip, and honestly, you kind of lived for it.

As you strolled down the hallway with a stack of papers in hand, you noticed your coworkers gathered in a huddle, whispering excitedly. Curiosity piqued, and you set the papers down on a nearby desk and wandered over.

“What’s going on?” you asked, trying to sound nonchalant.

The group turned to you, immediately shushing you before gesturing toward the glass-walled conference room. “Look,” one of them whispered, pointing.

You followed their gaze to the meeting in progress—specifically, to the group of men seated at the table. Raising a brow, you asked, “So… we’re just staring at men now?”

One of the girls grinned, barely able to contain her excitement. “Not just men. They just hired Mr. Kim Sunoo. Isn’t he dreamy? He’s totally my type.”

Another chimed in, dramatically clutching her chest. “What I wouldn’t give to get a piece of Mr. Lee. Ugh, it’s unfair how perfect he is.”

You stood there, unimpressed, letting your eyes wander to the man sitting at the end of the table.

“What about you, Y/N?” one of them asked, nudging you with her elbow. “Anyone in there catch your eye?”

Before you could answer, a sharp cough sounded behind you, making the entire group freeze.

“Do you ladies have no shame?” Jaeyun drawled, raising an eyebrow as he sipped his coffee.

“Jesus, Mr. Sim, would it kill you to mind your own business?” one of the girls snapped, rolling her eyes.

Jaeyun chuckled. “And miss out on this? Never. Besides, everyone knows who Y/N’s been crushing on.”

You immediately stiffened, while the other two girls exchanged looks. Their eyes darted to where you were staring—at him.

“Mr. Park?”

“No way! He’s such an asshole.”

“You could do so much better.”

Their words blurred into background noise as you kept your gaze locked on Park Sunghoon, your so-called “crush.” But they didn’t get it. They couldn’t possibly understand. To them, he was cold and aloof—practically a robot. But to you? He was… interesting.

You didn’t always feel that way. When you started at the company a year ago, you weren’t interested in men—or dating at all. You were laser-focused on your career, and determined to climb the corporate ladder. Then you met him.

It all started your first week on the job. The office wasn’t the soul-crushing nightmare you’d seen in movies. Your little corner office was cozy, and your workload was manageable. Things were going smoothly—until they weren’t.

Some of the senior employees, jealous of your early success, had sabotaged your presentation for an important meeting. As you stood in front of the board fumbling through the slides, your confidence crumbled. Your hands shook, your throat felt dry, and your face burned with humiliation. Then, out of nowhere, he walked in.

Park Sunghoon strode up to your computer with an air of calm authority, plugging in a USB without a word. The correct presentation appeared on the screen, and you blinked in disbelief.

The head of the board narrowed his eyes. “Mr. Park, care to explain your tardiness?”

“I apologize,” Sunghoon said smoothly. “But I caught some employees tampering with Ms. Y/N’s presentation. I thought it necessary to intervene.”

The board members exchanged glances before nodding, motioning for you to continue. Your real presentation went off without a hitch, earning praise from the directors. But all you could think about was the man who had saved you from disaster.

After the meeting, you waited outside the conference room, nervously clutching your notes. As soon as Sunghoon stepped out, you followed him, finally mustering the courage to tap him on the shoulder.

“Excuse me, Mr. Park?”

He turned, his expression blank but expectant. “Yes?”

“I just… wanted to thank you for what you did back there,” you stammered, your voice barely above a whisper.

His reply was cold and clipped. “I didn’t do it for you. I did it because I don’t tolerate workplace sabotage. Don’t expect me to save you again.”

Then he walked away, leaving you speechless.

A normal person might’ve been offended. Maybe even angry. But you? You were utterly smitten. How many men these days are that serious and passionate about their work? And let’s be honest—how many of them looked like that?

From that moment on, Park Sunghoon was your ideal man: hardworking, principled, and impossibly handsome. Sure, the whole office thought you were crazy for crushing on him, but they didn’t see what you see.

And as you stood there, watching him from across the room, you couldn’t help but wonder what he else he had underneath that surface.

A week after that little encounter with your coworkers, fate seemed to step in when you were assigned to lead a project—with none other than Mr. Park as your supervisor. Coincidence? You didn’t think so.

Now, as you sat in his office, he was going on about the plans and blueprints for the project. But you? You weren’t paying much attention. Your chin rested on your hands as you stared at him, absolutely transfixed.

“The peak must be at—Ms. Y/N, are you even listening?”

You blinked, snapping out of your trance. “Of course I am,” you replied with a bright, innocent smile.

He hummed, unconvinced. “Alright, then. How do you feel about placing it on Downtown Avenue?”

You nodded immediately. “Sounds great.”

His sharp gaze bore into you as he placed his pen down. “Interesting answer,” he mused, leaning forward until your faces were so close they nearly touched. “I never mentioned Downtown Avenue.”

Your eyes widened, and you quickly leaned back in your chair, flustered. Heat rose to your cheeks as you scrambled to regain composure. “I—I’m sorry, Mr. Park. Please continue. I’m listening now.”

He didn’t look convinced but leaned back into his chair, eyes narrowing slightly. “Alright.”

For all his calm professionalism, Sunghoon couldn’t quite figure you out. Sure, you were talented—he couldn’t deny that. But you were also incredibly dishonest, something he’d picked up on a month ago.

From the moment you first met, he could feel your gaze on him, as if you had a personal vendetta. He figured you hated him for how blunt he’d been during that initial meeting. But as time passed, he realized it was the exact opposite.

The revelation had come during a lunch break with the other department heads.

“What about you, Mr. Park?” one of them asked, smirking. “Is there a special lady waiting for you at home?”

Sunghoon raised a brow, finishing a bite of his food before setting his utensils down. “No, I live alone.”

The man hummed, and the others chuckled knowingly. Then, one of them leaned forward. “What about Ms. Y/N?”

At that, Sunghoon froze. “Excuse me?” he asked, voice cold.

The man chuckled nervously, straightening up. “Well, everyone knows how much she’s into you. Why don’t you give her a chance?”

The words threw Sunghoon off completely. “How much she’s into me?” he repeated, utterly confused. “Why would she be?”

For the first time in a long while, Sunghoon felt genuinely flustered. The idea that you might like him had never crossed his mind. And once the seed was planted, he couldn’t stop thinking about it.

His first instinct was to let you down easy. He’d been pursued before and thought it best to nip things in the bud. But when it came to you, things didn’t go as planned. Every time he tried to confront you, the words just wouldn’t come out.

In his frustration, he turned to Jaeyun, the office gossip king.

“Mr. Sim,” Sunghoon began, his voice strained. “Just tell me already.”

Jaeyun turned away, arms crossed. “I’m not spilling Y/N’s secrets.”

Sunghoon’s patience was wearing thin. “I’ll give you my year-end bonus.”

Jaeyun’s head whipped around, a sly grin spreading across his face. “Deal. Yes, she’s interested in you, but not enough to ask you out.”

Sunghoon raised a brow. “What do you mean, ‘not enough’? Are you saying I’m not worth asking out?”

Jaeyun held his hands up defensively. “No, no, she’s just focused on her career right now. Don’t take it personally.”

But Sunghoon did take it personally. The idea of someone liking him and not acting on it? It didn’t sit well with him. His pride was bruised.

From then on, he started coaxing you, trying to provoke you into asking him out. At office dinners, he’d sit near you, only for you to switch tables. In meetings, you avoided eye contact as if it were a matter of life and death. It was infuriating.

And now, as he explained the project, you sat across from him, staring at him like he was the center of your universe. He couldn’t take it anymore.

“Ms. Y/N,” he said abruptly.

“Hm?” you hummed, snapping back to attention.

He leaned forward slightly, his eyes scrutinizing you. “Have you heard the latest office gossip?”

You tilted your head, confused. “I don’t think so, sir. But what does that—”

“I heard the women in the office are all over our new hire, Mr. Kim,” he interrupted. “Are you one of them?”

Your brow furrowed, suspicious of his sudden interest. “Well, I haven’t had the chance to speak to Mr. Kim yet, so—”

“Oh, for God’s sake,” he groaned, rubbing his temples. “I know you’re interested in me.”

Your eyes widened at his bluntness, but instead of denying it, you relaxed. “Yes, that’s right.”

His jaw tightened. “Then why haven’t you said anything? You lack initiative—”

You cut him off, staring at him dead in the eye. “Are you interested in me, Mr. Park?”

The question caught him off guard. His ears turned red as he replied, “No, I’m not.”

“Then why would I ask you out?” you shot back, your tone calm and collected.

He was stunned into silence. Since when did you have the upper hand in this conversation?

“Because it would allow you to get over me quicker,” he said, straightening his tie.

You stared at him for a moment before bursting into laughter.

“What’s so funny?” he demanded, his pride wounded.

“You think too highly of yourself, Mr. Park,” you said, standing up. “Did you think I’d beg for you? My work is more important than any man—even you.”

With that, you turned and walked out of his office, leaving him frozen in place.

For the first time, Park Sunghoon felt like he’d underestimated someone. But one thing was certain: he wasn’t going to let you off that easily.

In the days following your conversation with Sunghoon, you noticed a subtle shift in his behavior. The once-distant supervisor now seemed to find reasons to linger near your workspace, his presence a constant, albeit silent, companion. It was almost endearing, watching him struggle with the unfamiliar territory of being put in his place.

Today, his strategy appeared to involve hovering nearby, perhaps hoping you’d initiate a conversation. His restlessness was overwhelming. Should he apologize? But that would require him to make the first move, a notion that likely clashed with his pride.

Seeking guidance, Sunghoon found himself seated across from Jaeyun at an upscale restaurant—a setting procured through the promise of an expensive dinner. Jaeyun, the holder of all office gossip, knew how to drive a bargain.

“Alright, talk. Has she mentioned anything?” Sunghoon inquired, his impatience barely concealed.

Jaeyun took a deliberate sip of his wine before responding. “Nope, not a word.”

Sunghoon’s frustration was evident. “Nothing? Are you sure?”

Jaeyun nodded, his gaze drifting to the gorgeous night view outside. “I swear. I mean, she’s been busy lately. Extremely busy.”

Sunghoon’s curiosity was piqued. “Explain, Mr. Sim.”

“Please call me Jaeyun, we’re not at work.” Jaeyun said.

Sunghoon gulped never being informal before. “Okay…. Jaeyun— please elaborate.”

Setting his utensils down, Jaeyun sighed. “Well, besides the project you two are working on, she also has financial responsibilities concerning her family, especially her younger brother.”

Sunghoon listened intently.

“She’s been working overtime to gather extra funds for his tuition. I heard he’s exceptionally talented in the entertainment field, but their family isn’t wealthy enough to cover the expenses.”

Sunghoon absorbed the information, No he didn’t understand. Sunghoon has been fortunate his whole life but he was open to learning. He sat there contemplating his next move.

Jaeyun’s voice broke through his thoughts. “What’s all this for anyway? Do you like her?”

Sunghoon scoffed. “Why would you think that?”

Jaeyun smirked. “Who goes this far to reject a woman?”

Sunghoon pondered the remark. Perhaps you had made more of an impression on him than he cared to admit. Interest? Maybe.

“Okay, how should I approach this? What does she like? Purses? Jewelry?”

Jaeyun chuckled. “Wait, you’re serious? Oh man, you really have no idea…”

Sunghoon remained silent, a faint blush coloring his ears and face.

“Just be normal, Show her you care.” Jaeyun observed Sunghoon’s puzzled expression. “If you really need to buy her something, get her some food. She enjoys a good meal.”

Now that was something Sunghoon could manage. If he was going to reach out to you, a thoughtful gesture like sharing a meal might be the perfect starting point.

Sunghoon wanted to do something nice for you. A nice thought quickly turned into an overbearing gesture.

One day, you found a paper bag in your office. Inside were sweets from the bakery just a few minutes away from the building. Even though they weren’t your favorite, you appreciated the gesture and ate them. Sunghoon saw you smile through your office blinds a safe distance away and felt happy. He quickly looked around to make sure no one noticed and then walked away.

After that, he started leaving more and more food in your office. It became overwhelming. Today, you walked in and saw so much food that it startled you. You had figured out it was Sunghoon; he wasn’t very sneaky, especially after you caught him leaving your office last week.

This was too much. How could you eat all this? You sighed, closed your office door, and walked to Sunghoon’s office. You knocked.

“Come in,” he said.

You entered, giving him a sharp look. He stood up, adjusting his suit.

“Ms. Y/N?” he asked, looking confused.

“Mr. Park, how much longer are you going to leave all that food in my office?”

He blinked. “What do you mean?”

You crossed your arms. “Did you really think I could eat all that in one sitting?”

He gulped, running a hand through his hair.

“And do you even know what foods I like? What if I was allergic to some of them?”

He scoffed walking over to you slowly. “What do you like then? What are you allergic to?” He was now very close.

“Can’t hate a man you haven’t given a chance, don’t you think?”

Your face turned red. You were stunned by his bluntness. “What are you talking about?”

“What are you doing tonight?” he asked.

You tried to keep your composure. “I don’t have plans, but—”

“Okay, I’ll be waiting for you after work then.”

You didn’t believe him at first. You’ve met many arrogant men who talk big, so you assumed he was the same.

After a seemingly long task, you finally finished your job, clocking out. You exited the building and saw him leaning on his car, arms crossed with his eyebrows furrowed like always. When he saw you, his eyes softened. He gave you a small smile and opened the passenger door.

This was new, but you went along, got in the car, and he closed the door behind you. You didn’t see it but, He checked his hair in his phone’s reflection before getting in.

As he drove, you admired the city view. The lights of the night never got old to you. But sooner than later curiosity got the better of you. “Where are we going?”

He glanced at you through the mirror before focusing back on the road. “Dinner at ‘The Villa.’”

Your eyes widened. “Are you serious? That place is expensive and fancy.”

He nodded. “I thought you’d enjoy it.”

You sighed. You could see he was trying, but fancy restaurants weren’t your thing. An idea popped into your head. “Turn here Mr. Park, I know a place we can go.”

He looked at you, puzzled, but followed your directions. You guided him to a small restaurant. As you both got out, he seemed disappointed when you didn’t let him open the door for you but brushed it off.

He looked around, not seeing any fancy places. “Is this it? A grill?”

You turned to him with the prettiest smile he’d ever seen on you. “Yup! Come on.” You reached out your hand.

Usually, he wouldn’t choose a place like this, but with a smile like that, he’d follow you anywhere. He took your hand, and you both went inside.

Inside, the atmosphere was cozy and lively. The smell of grilled food filled the air. You found a table, and he awkwardly sat down, clearly out of his element.

A server came by, placing a small grill in the center of your table and bringing plates of raw meat and vegetables. Sunghoon looked confused.

You giggled. “It’s a DIY grill. We cook our own food here.”

He raised an eyebrow. “We… cook?”

You nodded, picking up a piece of meat with the tongs and placing it on the grill. It sizzled, and the aroma was mouth-watering.

He watched you, then hesitantly picked up the tongs. He tried to mimic your actions but fumbled, almost dropping the meat.

You laughed, reaching over to guide his hand. “Like this.”

As the evening went on, you both cooked, ate, and talked. Sunghoon shared stories about his upbringing, and you told him about your family. He was clumsy with the grill, burning some pieces and undercooking others, but you found it endearing.

At one point, he tried to flip a piece of meat and it flew off the grill, landing on the table. He looked mortified, but you burst into laughter.

“I’m sorry,” he said, chuckling. “I’m not used to this.”

You smiled. “It’s okay. It’s fun.”

By the end of the night, the initial awkwardness had faded.

After a delightful dinner at the grill, you and Sunghoon stepped outside, the cool night air brushing against your skin. The city lights twinkled in the distance, casting a soft glow over the streets. As you walked side by side, you noticed a small park nearby, its swings gently swaying in the breeze.

“How about a walk in the park?” you suggested, your eyes sparkling with mischief.

Sunghoon glanced at the swings, a hint of hesitation in his eyes. “I haven’t been on a swing in years,” he admitted, a slight chuckle escaping his lips.

“Well, tonight’s the perfect night to revisit childhood memories,” you teased, nudging him playfully.

With a resigned smile, he agreed, “Alright, lead the way.”

You both approached the swings, and you took a seat on one, motioning for him to join you. He hesitated for a moment, then sat beside you, his posture stiff and unsure.

“Just relax,” you encouraged, giving him a gentle push. “I got you.”

As the swing moved, Sunghoon’s expression softened, and a genuine smile appeared on his face. He began to swing higher, his laughter blending with the night air.

“See? It’s fun,” you said, your voice filled with joy.

He nodded, his eyes meeting yours. “No, you’re the one making it fun Ms, Y/N.”

You both continued to swing, the world around you fading away. The simple act of swinging together brought a sense of closeness and comfort, a shared moment of happiness.

After a while, you slowed the swing and stood up. “Shall we continue our walk?”

“Of course,” he said, his voice soft.

As you walked through the park, you talked about everything and nothing—your dreams, your favorite books, the places you wanted to visit. The conversation flowed effortlessly, and with each step, you felt a deeper connection forming between you.

WHEN GOSSIP MEETS LOVE ⌇ 함께

That night with Sunghoon felt like it was straight out of a dream—a memory you knew would replay in your mind over and over again. He wasn’t at all what you’d expected. Sure, he had an air of arrogance, and his confidence sometimes teetered on egotistical, but once you broke through that wall, he was entirely different. Genuine. Kind. Charming in a way that made you question how you’d ever misjudged him.

You’d never felt this kind of excitement in a long time, this sense of longing and hope for something more. A relationship. He hadn’t officially asked you out yet, but it felt inevitable. You’d already started imagining how it might all unfold.

But that was just wishful thinking.

The next day, as you walked into the office, you couldn’t ignore the way whispers followed you down the hallway. People stealing glances at you, hurriedly looking away when you caught their eye. At first, you brushed it off. Office gossip was nothing new. Maybe someone had spilled coffee on their boss again.

But the moment you saw your phone light up with notifications—hundreds of them—you realized you were the center of the latest spectacle.

It wasn’t just office chatter. It was everywhere. Tabloids, social media, magazines, blogs. Photos of you and Sunghoon—laughing together, standing too close, looking too comfortable. But that wasn’t the worst part. The headlines? They were brutal.

“Is Riki Nishimura’s Older Sister Using Park Sunghoon for Fame?”

“Dating Rumors Could Derail His Career!”

“How Will This Affect HER Younger Brother’s Future?”

Your stomach churned as you scrolled. At first, you laughed bitterly, brushing it off as ridiculous speculation. But then, you saw the headline about your brother. Your little brother, who had worked so hard to get where he was. Your heart sank.

If they wanted to drag your name through the mud, fine. But dragging your family into it? Threatening Riki’s career? That crossed a line.

You paced the floor of your office, wracking your brain for a solution. There was only one answer. It wasn’t fair, but it was the only way. You and Sunghoon… this thing between you—it couldn’t happen. Not if it meant jeopardizing your brother’s future.

The tears came slowly at first, then all at once as you slumped into your chair, burying your face in your hands. You hadn’t even realized how much you’d come to cherish what you began to have with Sunghoon until now, as you were being forced to let it go.

Meanwhile, Sunghoon had no idea what was happening. He was in his office, practically glowing, still riding the high from the time you spent together. He couldn’t wait to see you.

On his break, he searched for you. The lounge. The meeting room. Even your office. But you were nowhere to be found.

Frustrated, he turned to his co-worker—and now trusted friend—Jaeyun.

“Jaeyun, have you seen Y/N?” he asked, his tone casual, but his impatience obvious.

Jaeyun’s expression fell, pity flashing in his eyes. “Y/N? She… she put in for a two-week leave this morning. I figured you knew.”

Sunghoon’s heart sank. “What? Why? What happened?”

Jaeyun gave him a pointed look. “You haven’t seen the news, have you?”

Frowning, Sunghoon pulled out his phone, quickly typing in his name. The search results made his breath hitch. Article after article, photos, speculation, your name tied to his, your family dragged into the chaos.

Then he saw the headline about your brother. His grip on the phone tightened. He knew what you were thinking. Knew why you’d disappeared. And there was no way he was going to let this spiral any further.

Without a second thought, he called your number. Once. Twice. Three times. Each attempt went to voicemail.

Panic bubbled in his chest. He couldn’t let you do this—not alone, not to yourself, not to your relationship.

He barked an order to his assistant to start taking down the articles, to figure out who was behind this mess. But first, he needed to find you.

And when he did, he wasn’t going to let you push him away.

WHEN GOSSIP MEETS LOVE ⌇ 함께

The days felt endless as you holed up in your apartment, your only companions being guilt and loneliness. It had been a week since you requested a two-week leave, and in that time, you hadn’t dared step foot outside. The weight of the news, the whispers, and the consequences of your choices pressed down on you like a heavy blanket.

The day you left the office, you called Riki, your voice trembling as you asked if he was okay. He reassured you that everything was fine—for now. His management had advised him to lay low until the rumors blew over. He didn’t sound angry, but that almost made it worse. You felt like you’d dragged him into your mess, and the guilt ate away at you.

Since then, you’d spent most of your time thinking about Sunghoon. Replaying the moments you’d shared, wondering how he felt, and most of all, worrying about what you’d say to him when you eventually faced him again. Did he care that much? Or had this all been one-sided? These questions swirled in your mind endlessly as you lay in bed, staring at the ceiling.

Desperate to drown out your thoughts, you remembered the new bar that had recently opened near your apartment. Without much thought, you dragged yourself out of bed, threw on some clothes, and headed out.

The bar was dimly lit, buzzing with quiet conversations and the occasional burst of laughter. You didn’t waste any time. One drink turned into two, then three, then four. You lost count after that, the haze of alcohol dulling your thoughts until you didn’t feel much of anything. Eventually, your body gave in, and you slumped over, unconscious.

Meanwhile, Sunghoon was unraveling.

It had been a week since he last saw you, and the distance was driving him insane. Every attempt to find you ended in failure. He didn’t know where you lived, your favorite places, or even how to contact your family. It frustrated him to no end, and it hurt even more to think that you might be avoiding him.

Every evening, he found himself at the small grill you both went to, hoping to catch a glimpse of you. Tonight was no different. He stood outside the familiar spot, his hands shoved into his coat pockets as he tried to stave off the cold.

The buzz of his phone broke through his thoughts, and his heart leapt when he saw your name on the screen. He fumbled to answer, pressing the phone to his ear.

“Y/N? Where are you—”

“Are you friends with the owner of this phone?” a deep, unfamiliar voice interrupted.

Sunghoon blinked, pulling the phone away to confirm it was your number on the display. Confusion settled in. “Uh, yeah? Who is this? Why do you have her phone?”

“No worries,” the man replied. “She’s passed out in my bar. I found her phone unlocked and figured I’d call someone. Can you come pick her up?”

Sunghoon’s heart dropped. “Where is she?”

The man gave him the location, and Sunghoon didn’t hesitate. He bolted to his car and sped through the city, his mind racing with questions. Were you okay? Why were you at a bar alone this late?

When he arrived, he barely parked the car before running inside. His eyes scanned the room until they landed on you. Slumped over the bar, your head resting on your arms, you looked so vulnerable. Relief and worry collided in his chest as he approached you.

“You’re Hoon, right?” the bartender asked, eyeing him curiously.

Sunghoon blinked in confusion before realizing the name was probably how you saved his contact. He smiled faintly, nodding. “Yeah, that’s me.”

The bartender nodded and stepped away, leaving Sunghoon to focus on you. His chest tightened when he saw how puffy your eyes were, evidence of the tears you’d cried before drinking yourself into this state.

He crouched beside you, placing a gentle hand on your back. “Y/N… can you walk?”

Your eyes fluttered open, blurry and unfocused as they locked with his. For a moment, you looked like you were seeing a ghost.

“Hoon?” you slurred softly, your voice tinged with disbelief.

He sighed in relief. “Yeah, it’s me. Come on, let’s get you out of here.”

But when you didn’t move, he frowned. You were too out of it to help him. He checked your phone, hoping for some clue about where to take you, but it was locked.

He hesitated. Taking you to his place didn’t feel right, but with no other options and the clock striking midnight, he made a decision.

“You’ll understand, right?” he murmured to himself, draping his coat over your shoulders. He carefully helped you to your feet, guiding you out of the bar and into his car.

The drive to his penthouse was quiet, save for your soft breathing. He couldn’t stop himself from stealing glances at you, the city lights illuminating your face in a way that made his chest ache. Even like this, you were beautiful.

When they arrived, getting you upstairs was a challenge. You slumped against him, muttering incoherently and occasionally whining about how tired you were. By the time he managed to unlock his door and get you inside, he was exhausted.

He guided you to his bedroom, laying you down gently on the bed. As he adjusted his coat on your shoulders, he heard you mumble something. When he turned back, his face turned bright red.

“Why is it so hot?” you grumbled, fumbling with the buttons of your shirt.

“Woah, hey—don’t do that!” he yelped, grabbing your hands to stop you. “Just… just wait, I’ll turn on the AC!”

He backed away, keeping a wary eye on you as he adjusted the thermostat. When he returned, he brought a glass of water, helping you sit up to drink. “There, that’s better, hm?”

You sighed, lying back down with a soft hum of approval.

Sunghoon turned to leave, planning to sleep on the couch, but you grabbed his wrist, your eyes wide and pleading. “Hoon… stay. Please?”

His heart clenched. How could he ever say no to you?

“Alright,” he whispered, circling the bed and lying down on the other side, facing the ceiling. He felt awkward, unsure of what to do, but within moments, you shifted closer, resting your head on his chest.

He froze, his heart pounding as he felt your steady breaths against him. Slowly, he relaxed, his hand coming up to stroke your hair.

“Goodnight,” he murmured softly, his eyes fluttering shut as sleep finally claimed him.

WHEN GOSSIP MEETS LOVE ⌇ 함께

The glow of the sun streamed through the curtains, forcing you to stir awake. The dull throbbing in your head hit as soon as you sat up, and you winced, bringing a hand to your temple.

Blinking, you took in your surroundings. The room was unfamiliar—sleek, modern, and definitely not your own. Panic began to rise in your chest as you tried to piece together the events of the previous night. You remembered the bar, the drinks, and then… nothing.

Your eyes widened as you looked down at yourself, relieved to find you were still in your clothes. But then you spotted the figure lying beside you, their back turned to you.

Oh no.

You gasped, clutching the pillow you’d been sleeping on, and without thinking, you began smacking the man’s back with it in a panic. “Who are you?! What is this?! Did we—?!”

The man bolted awake, flinching and shielding himself with his arms. “Hey! Hey! Stop!” he shouted, scrambling backward until he fell off the bed with a loud thud.

You froze mid-swing, the familiar voice cutting through your panic. Slowly, you leaned over the edge of the bed, clutching the pillow tightly.

“Sunghoon?” you whispered, your eyes wide.

He was sprawled on the floor, wincing as he rubbed the back of his head. His legs were awkwardly bent in the air, and he looked up at you with an awkward, sheepish smile. “Uh, hi.”

You let out a deep breath, sitting back on the bed. “Oh my god,” you muttered, dragging your hands down your face.

Sunghoon quickly got up, brushing himself off as he looked at you with a mix of concern and embarrassment. “I’m sorry, I should’ve explained sooner. We didn’t… y’know, do anything.”

Your cheeks burned as you glanced up at him. “Are you sure?”

His ears turned bright pink as he nodded fervently. “Yes! I swear. You passed out at the bar, and I didn’t know where you lived, so I brought you here. That’s it, I promise.”

You relaxed slightly, but the tension in the room remained heavy. The silence that followed was suffocating, neither of you knowing what to say.

Finally, you broke it, your voice trembling. “Sunghoon… our relationship has to end here.”

His head snapped toward you, his eyes wide with disbelief. “What? Why?”

You avoided his gaze, staring at the sheets instead. “I’m sure you’ve seen the news. They’re dragging my brother into this, and I can’t let that happen. I can’t risk his career for my selfish desires.”

“Y/N—“

“What we had was nice,” you interrupted, your voice cracking slightly. “But it’s better for everyone if we stop seeing each other.”

He stepped closer, his brows furrowed in frustration. “You should check the tabloids again.”

You froze, your heart pounding. “What do you mean?”

Sunghoon grabbed his phone from the nightstand, quickly pulling up the articles before handing it to you. You hesitated, but as you scrolled, your breath caught.

The scandal was gone. There were no articles tearing you apart, no headlines about your brother being caught up in rumors. Instead, there were positive comments, even a few articles praising the supposed romance.

“How… how did this happen?” you asked, your voice barely above a whisper.

Sunghoon sighed softly, sitting down beside you. His voice was gentle but firm. “I made it happen. I wasn’t going to let them ruin your life, or your brother’s, over something like this.”

You turned to look at him, his face close to yours. His expression was so sincere, so full of quiet determination, that it made your chest ache.

“Why would you do that?” you asked, your voice trembling.

“Because I care about you,” he said simply. “And I’m not giving up on us that easily.”

The words hung in the air between you, heavy with meaning. Your eyes locked, and in that moment, all the fear, doubt, and guilt melted away.

Without thinking, you leaned in, your lips brushing his tentatively. Sunghoon froze for a split second before responding, his hand cupping your cheek as he deepened the kiss. It was soft and slow at first, filled with all the emotions neither of you had been able to express.

But soon, the kiss grew more passionate, more desperate, as if you were both trying to make up for all the lost time and the moments you almost didn’t have. His other hand found its way to your waist, pulling you closer, while your fingers tangled in his hair.

Soft sighs fell from the both of you as he laid you back on the bed. His hand exploring your body softly and slowly.

You took the chance to snake your hands below his shirt, scratching his back slightly making him shutter against you.

When you finally pulled back, both of you were breathless, your foreheads resting against each other.

“Sunghoon,” you whispered, your voice shaky but certain. “Thank you.”

He smiled softly, his thumb brushing over your cheek. “Anything for you.”

BONUS 𝜗𝜚˚⋆

“Hoon, get up,” you said softly, glancing down at Sunghoon, who was sprawled across your chest like he had no intention of moving.

“Mm,” he hummed lazily, burying his face into you as if that would make you forget about work entirely.

You let out a soft laugh, stroking his hair absentmindedly. The moment your fingers ran through his dark locks, you realized you’d made a mistake—he let out a content sigh and snuggled in closer, clearly sinking even deeper into his sleepy state.

“We have to go to work,” you said, this time playfully, though your hands still gently tangled in his hair.

“I don’t want to,” he mumbled, his pout evident even though his face was tucked against you. God, he was so cute.

You smiled softly, shaking your head. “Well, we have responsibilities we can’t ignore, so you need to get up, Hoon.”

When he didn’t respond, you rolled your eyes, deciding to switch tactics. “If you get up, I’ll give you a reward,” you said, your tone light but teasing.

That did it. His head immediately shot up, his sleepy eyes now wide with interest. “What kind of reward?” he asked, a mischievous smile spreading across his face.

You smirked, leaning back slightly as his head rested on your chest, his eyes glinting with curiosity. “You’ll find out if you get up,” you teased, brushing a stray lock of hair away from his face.

Sunghoon raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued but not entirely convinced. “That’s suspicious,” he murmured, though the corner of his lips quirked into a small smile. “Is it worth it?”

“More than worth it,” you said confidently, trying to stifle a laugh. “But you’re never going to know if you keep laying there.”

He groaned dramatically, still clinging to you like you were the only thing keeping him tethered to the bed. “You’re not making this easy, you know.”

“Well, you’re the one being stubborn,” you replied, gently pushing at his shoulder, though he didn’t budge.

Then, in one swift motion, he propped himself up on his elbows, his face dangerously close to yours. “Okay,” he said, his voice low and playful. “I’m up. Where’s my reward?”

Your breath hitched slightly at the sudden proximity, his teasing grin making your heart race. “Patience,” you said, trying to keep your composure. “You’re not fully up yet. Get ready for work first.”

He tilted his head, pretending to think. “Hmm, that wasn’t part of the deal.”

“It’s implied,” you countered, laughing softly as you tried to push him off the bed.

But instead of moving, Sunghoon leaned even closer, his warm breath fanning over your cheeks. “I think I deserve at least a preview,” he murmured, his lips brushing yours ever so slightly.

Your heart skipped a beat as you tried to glare at him, but it was impossible when his mischievous grin was so disarming. “You’re impossible,” you muttered, but before you could say anything else, he closed the distance, capturing your lips in a soft but lingering kiss.

It started playful, his lips tugging into a smile against yours, but quickly turned deeper, his hand cupping the side of your face as he kissed you with a tenderness that made your heart skip. He pulled back just enough to whisper against your lips, “Best reward ever.”

You rolled your eyes, still breathless. “Now get up, Hoon. Or that'll be the last one you'll ever get.”

He laughed, finally pulling himself out of bed. “Fine, fine. You’re the boss in this house.”

He disappeared into the bathroom, you couldn’t help but smile to yourself, your cheeks warm as you touched your lips. Sunghoon always had a way of turning your mornings into something unforgettable.

♡ ꒱ Bad Boy 𓂃 ᗢᘏᓗ

With the unbearable weight of guilt on your shoulders, you sat down on your bed, feeling ironically extremely uncomfortable in your most comfortable pajamas.

It was a little past midnight and you definitely should have been sleeping but instead, you were too busy staring at the screen of your phone that lightened up over the continuous messages Jay was sending you.

You couldn't pick it up and look at what he was saying, because for once you could already guess what they were about and second, you had no good answers to give him, not after how you went behind him like that.

He was probably mad and disappointed, feeling betrayed but this time, he really had every right to be.

Because in his head you were more than a tutor to him, and he’d like to think that he wasn’t just another bad boy with messed up grades in your eyes, that you were forced to help.

But after his last chat with the math teacher, Mr. Smith, he couldn’t be sure of it anymore.

Why? Because it turns out you told the teacher himself, in person, that you wanted to quit tutoring Jay for good, without bothering to speak to him about it first.

But what was your reason?

It’s been 6 months since you started tutoring him and never once you guys had an argument, not even a small bickering.

Jay could be a total troublemaker in school, a handsome one at that, but when it came to you he had been nothing but sweet.

You were the best student after all, teacher’s favorite and everyone's beloved friend, how could he dare to cause any harm to you?

But there was more to it, much more than people besides the two of you did not know about your “relationship”.

He adored you, in a literal way, which he often chose to show with his what you call “unfunny jokes” , that could be a little too flirtatious sometimes.

Yet despite how lame some of his attempts were at trying to lure you with his charms, you had no complaints about being his tutor because well, he was cute, so heart-flutteringly cute that there were times you just wanted to break out of your prefect shell and kiss him.

Kiss him in a not friendly way.

However taking risks wasn’t the strongest suit of a coward like you so instead, you went ahead and did the exact opposite by telling Mr. Smith that you wanted to quit being Jay’s tutor before it was too late.

Of course you had other reasons aside from the struggle you had with your growing feelings for Jay, such as his academic situation.

His scores were remaining the same ever since you’ve been helping him with classes, there was not even a single change to prove you were actually being helpful, which made you feel incredibly useless.

You felt like you were wasting his time which made you question your morals over the real reason why you kept seeing him — your feelings, yeah, the romantic type of ones were to blame.

You were at a point of no return with your feelings for him, which meant that denial couldn’t save you from this mess.

You liked him, no — you were head over heels for him, but that didn’t change the fact that what you were doing was not only wrong in many aspects but it was also quite selfish too.

Just because you liked him, you couldn’t keep using your every day study dates for your own benefit, not to mention how in the first place you catching feelings for him was wrong.

Cause except for the wattpad stories, you knew enough to say that the good girl x bad boy trope could never end well in real life and to be honest, you didn’t want that upon jay and yourself.

You stepped out of your lines and made a mistake by not controlling your emotions, and before it got too out of control, you needed to fix things into how they used to be.

You needed to end your relationship with him whether you liked it or not, and the earlier you did it, the better it was, so you decided to take the first step today.

It was your responsibility to put an end to this mess — at least you thought so because in your head, there was no one but you benefiting from this situation, unless you were wrong.

Therefore you did your part by talking to the teacher, completely unaware of how that would make Jay’s blood boil, because unlike your beliefs, Jay was also taking advantage of this situation, even more than you actually.

Speaking of which, he was currently on his way to your house, yes in the middle of the night cause you didn’t bother to text or call him back.

He was angry to say the least as he hopped out of his motorcycle and walked furiously towards the vines under your window, climbing on it with so many questions that he wanted to ask you in his head, the highlight of them all being “What am I to you?”

Seriously though, what did he mean to you? Was he someone you could just ditch when you were bored, what the hell was he?

With the familiar knocking sound you heard, you ran to your window and almost fainted at the sight of a pair of angry eyes gazing at you behind it.

Jay was here, despite how many times you told him not to come to your house in the middle of the night he was here for you, and he did not look happy.

Biting your lips, you nervously opened your window and let him in, with no words to speak as they felt stuck on your throat.

“Aren’t you gonna ask me why I’m here this time?” Jay took the lead and spoke for you instead, sounding stern as he locked his eyes on your scared ones.

“I guess not, hm?” he asked, taking off his gloves, “Cause you already know why I’m here at this time of the night, don’t you y/n?”

“Jay please, my parents are sleeping, we can’t—”

“Start explaining yourself then,” he cut your sentence as he took a step closer to you, “cause I’m not gonna go without an explanation or let you ignore me the way you ignored my calls.” he spat out, sounding hurt behind his tough guy act.

“What is there to explain?” you finally break out, feeling frustrated at how things had become, “You talked with Mr. Smith, you already know what happened, what do you wanna hear more?”

“I wanna hear your reason.”

“I had none.”

Letting out a sarcastic huff, Jay brushed his veiny hands through his messy hair, the scent of his fragrance brushing past your nose once he moved his arm.

He smelled so . . . manly, you were gonna miss it.

“None, huh?”

“Yeah.”

“Is this how you wanna do this?” he asked as he closed the remaining gap between your bodies, gradually sounding more and more pissed off, “Because I’ve got the whole night y/n, and not even your parents can send me off before I hear your freaking reason for going behind my back, okay?”

The way he kept his poker face as he talked made the guilt you carried even more heavier, he was really hurt, and that was a terrible thing to cause.

Feeling overwhelmed by proximity, you walked towards your bed and sat on it, focusing your gaze on the guy who stood up looking hot in his gear from across the room.

“I already told you, I had no reason.”

“So you just decided to leave me like that, not even bothering to give me a heads up first?”

“I wanted to avoid arguing, though it didn’t work.”

Gulping down as you blankly stare at him, you noticed the way his eyes softened at your answer. Letting out a tired sigh, he approached you, silently putting his weight on the empty spot next to you.

His posture seemed more relaxed compared to before while he was sitting on your silky mattress, head in between his hands as he tried his best to understand you.

“I don't wanna argue with you either y/n, so please help me understand, yeah?”

You gave him a nod with your head and rested your chin on your knees as you pulled your legs closer to your body and hugged them, not breaking eye contact with the handsome bad boy who had no idea that he stole your heart.

“Did I do or say something that hurt you, hm, is that the reason?” he asked, a little afraid on the inside that you might say yes in return, since he never intended to bother you in any way.

“No, no you never did, don’t worry.”

Okay, good, that was a good start.

“Did I make you uncomfortable in any way?” he asked again, the worry in his tone increasing as he was analyzing every little memory he had with you in his head to figure out what he did wrong, still unaware of the fact that he was not the problem, but you were.

“You can tell me alright? I’ll be more careful, I promise.”

“It’s nothing like that Jay, I swear.”

“Then what is it y/n?” he scoffed, voice raising unintentionally right before a new suspicion hit him, “Wait,” he paused, blinking his eyes a couple of times, “Is this about your . . parents?” he hesitantly uttered, whispering out the last word, “Do they not want you to speak with me?”

Taking a deep breath, you shook your head, “Not at all, Jay,” you answered him, “You know how my mom likes you.”

“She likes me because she doesn't know how many times I sneaked into your room at nights,” he let out, chuckling at his own words, “plus she doesn't know that I'm the troublemaker of the school, does she?”

“You’re fine,” you giggled, hitting on his arm playfully, “It’s not my parents, I promise.”

“Then is it you?”

“Huh?”

“Is it because you want to stop seeing me?”

His words were barely audible, it was obvious that even the thought of not seeing you was hard to accept for him.

Not being able to stand how sad he looked, you reached your hand to his face and caressed his honey skin with the back of your palm, soft eyes melting his heart as you did so.

“Jay—” you tried to speak but he didn't allow you, the overwhelming feeling growing in his chest the more you avoided giving him a reasonable explanation.

“Don’t Jay me, y/n,” he stopped you as he held your hand, leaning his cheeks on it while intertwining his fingers with yours, “just tell me the truth, I know you didn’t do it just because, so talk to me honestly please.”

Okay, you know what, you were tired of it.

You tried your best to keep it to yourself but nope, Jay was too stubborn for you to handle and you could not physically keep on denying anymore, it had already been a long and you definitely did not have any energy left for this.

You were gonna give him what he wanted and get over with it, yep, that was what you were gonna do.

“Fine,” you sighed, pulling your hand away from his hold, “If you want the truth so much, here it is.”

“Wha—”

“I like you Jay, okay?” you blurted out, eyes focused on everywhere else but his as you spoke your thoughts mindlessly, “I like you so much that even though I knew my tutoring got your math nowhere better, I kept on doing it because I kept wanting to see you.”

“Y/n—”

“Let me finish!”

Fluttering his lashes, Jay pretended to zip his mouth shut, feeling a little dumbfounded since this was the first time you raised your voice at him.

It was like along with your new confession, a new side of you came out and honestly, he couldn’t feel more impressed than he was right now with you.

“But just because I like you, I can’t just waste your time so—”

“—so you went ahead and told the math teacher you wanted to quit, huh?”

“I said let me finish ,didn’t I?”

“I would if you weren’t such a big idiot.” Jay replied with a sheepish smile on his face, leaning his head on the back of his palm as he turned to look at you, “Gosh, what am I gonna do with you, hm?”

“What did you just call me?” you asked, doubting your ears over the words you just heard. Were you hallucinating or did he just call you a big idiot? For what freaking reason?

“A big idiot,” he repeated himself, emphasizing on every syllable to annoy you, “because that’s what you are.”

“Hey!” Just when you raised your hands to hit him, he grabbed your wrists and pulled you towards himself, letting you fall on top of him as he laid on his back on your bed.

Knowing that you didn’t do well with proximity, he hooked his arms over your waist and held you still, not letting you sneak away.

“W-what are you doing?! Let m-me go!” you yelled, struggling to move as he giggled, enjoying the sight of your blushed cheeks and shy eyes.

You couldn’t even look at his face as if you didn't just confess your whole heart to him a minute ago, how cute.

“I listened to you so, you’re gonna listen to what I have to say now, got it?”

“B-but—”

“Stop moving if you don't wanna wake your parents up with your noise.”

Defeated, you gave up, and placed your head on his chest tiredly. There was no point of being embarrassed so since you were stuck on top of him, you might as well just enjoy it.

Surprisingly, after your not so well thought confession, you were feeling a lot better, as if your shoulders were relieved from the burden that weighed a ton.

Laying on top of him also did not feel awkward, in fact it felt great, so safe and peaceful despite the high risk of getting busted by your family.

“Now,” his deep voice broke the short lasting silence as he patted your hair, playing with your soft strands, “why do you think I still fail at math?”

“Because I'm a terrible tutor?”

“Nope,” he chuckled, shaking his head, “you're a great tutor, the very best one I had.” he cooed, sounding sincere at what he said as he landed a kith on your temple, “now guess again.”

“I don’t know Jay—”

“Just try, it’s so obvious, you can’t not be aware of it.”

“Well, apparently I am,” you huffed, burying your head on his leather jacket as you nagged, “maybe I really am a big idiot, just like you said.”

“Hmm, want a clue then?” he chuckled, ruffling your hair, feeling like he was talking to a baby instead of a grown up, not that he could complain about it.

You acted extremely cute right now, which was pretty rare so, it wouldn’t be a lie to say that Jay was quite enjoying this whole thing.

Once you nodded your head, he moved his hands to cup your face and lifted it up from where you hid it on his chest.

And when he started to pull you towards himself, to his face where his lips were dangerously close to yours, you stopped him to ask what he was doing.

“J-Jay what are y-you doing?”

“Giving you a clue,” he mumbled right before he finally pressed his lips on yours, caressing your cheeks with his thumbs to soothe the heat that was emanating from them.

Which, unlike his intentions, got much worse.

When he broke the kiss, he looked at you, a satisfied grin forming on his face once he saw your frozen state — eyes closed and lips slightly parted, too shocked to move an inch.

“Do you get it now or do you want another kiss?” he breathed against your lips, brushing his nose to the tip of yours as he waited for your response.

How could you be so smart in every class yet so stupid when it came to him, so much that you didn’t even realize his feelings until now?

He didn’t know, but either way, you were still cute and he had no plans of letting you drop him so quickly.

“S-so,” you stuttered, opening your eyes slowly, “this means that you—” you gulped, not believing what you were about to say, “— y-you like me?”

“Yeah, you genius,” he mocked, booping your nose, “obviously I like you, I kept failing math so that I could keep you as my tutor,” he admitted, biting on his lower lip, “I was that desperate to see you, get it now?”

“Oh,” you let out, eyes growing big with realization, “Oh shit, I ruined everything by talking to Mr. Smith, didn’t I?”

“Sort of, yeah,” he agreed as he flipped you over and dropped you on the spot next to him, “Which is why you’re gonna go and speak to him tomorrow,” he said, getting off of your bed, “you’re gonna fix this mess just the way you caused it princess,” he ordered, grabbing his gloves from where he put them, “this is your punishment for going behind my back, understood?”

“What if there’s a better way?”

You got up from your spot and followed him, playing with the zipper of his jacket with a pout that you knew was gonna be efficient enough to work on jay.

“A better way? Like what?”

“What if you didn’t need to keep failing math to see me?”

Taking your small hands in his, Jay placed soft kisses on each one of your fingers before he led both of your arms on his shoulders, pulling you closer by your waist for a hug, loving the way your question sounded.

“I’d love that, but how?”

“Easy,” you mumbled, hugging his neck, “What if we started dating?”

What a dork, Jay thought, were you asking him out right now? He had to say your method sucked cause he doubted there could be a sloppier dating proposal than this.

Still, you looked adorable when you were bold like this so, guess he had no choice but to say yes to you.

“You wanna date me?” He asked, quirking an eyebrow at you, “despite the fact that it’s gonna put you in so much trouble with your precious teachers?”

“No one has to know, do they?”

“Wow, so a secret relationship, huh?” Jay commented, pretending to be in disbelief, “And everyone thinks that I’m the bad guy in this relationship,” he muttered, messing with you, “only if they knew what kind of a player their perfectly innocent friend is, right y/n?”

Rolling your eyes, you pushed him away, only to be pulled back even closer in the span of a second.

“If you don’t want to just say so,” you nagged, not returning to his hug, “I’m trying for us here, you moron.”

“Alright alright,” he laughed as he gave you a squeeze with his strong biceps, “We’ll do as you say princess, now hug me back.”

Not wanting to make him grumpy, you did as he said and wrapped your arms around his waist, mewling at the boyish scent that hit your nose once you leaned your head on his shoulders.

He smelled amazing, hypnotizing even, enough to get you greedy for another kiss as you raised on your toes and reached for his lips, your heart beats fastening once you felt his hot breath fanning against your chin.

Everything was perfect, except for the familiar voice that came behind your door, which belonged to no one else but your mother as she called out your name, “Y/n, is everything okay in there?”

“Crap, crap, crap . .” You cursed out as you immediately pushed Jay towards your window, eyes growing with panic thinking how screwed you were about to become.

“Yes mom, don’t worry!” You yelled back, trying to sound normal as you helped Jay to safely get on the rooftop, “Just go back to bed!”

“Are you sure? I think I heard some noises, want me to come in?”

“No!”

Not able to control himself, Jay let out a laugh at how aggressive your “no” sounded. Oh god, why did you have to be so cute when you were panicking? It tempted him to tease you even more now.

Thanks to your fast reflexes, you were able to smack your hand over his mouth before he got too loud, hoping that his cute laughter escaped from the radar of your mom’s ears.

“Alright then, good night, stop wasting time awake and get some rest!”

“Will do mom, good night!”

After waiting for a couple of minutes to make sure your mom left, you let go of Jay’s mouth, sending him a death glare.

“Are you crazy?” you asked, punching him on the shoulders, “What was that laugh? Do you want us to get caught?”

“Sorry,” he apologized, pouting cutely, “you look so cute when you’re frustrated, I couldn’t help it.”

Shaking your head, you slapped his sneaky hands away, ruining his attempt of snuggling into your arms.

“Go,” you ordered, trying to give him your most serious look, “go before you get both of our asses kicked.”

“Fine, I’ll go,” he raised his hands, pretending to surrender as he approached you, “but first finish what you started,” he said, pursing his lips towards you, “give me my good night kiss, come on.”

“Jay—”

Before you could reject, Jay pushed his lips on yours and kissed you, biting on your flesh teasingly to get you flustered.

The kiss was brief, sadly, but it was enough to make you melt like an ice in the sun.

“Good night my love.” he whispered as he walked over to the edge and sent you a flying kiss before he jumped down, holding onto the veins just as he did while climbing up to your window.

When he landed on the floor, he looked up and smiled once he saw that you were watching him, “I love you” he mouthed as he waved you goodbye, looking oh so cool while putting on his helmet.

Once Jay took off you went back inside, neither of you having a single clue about the pair of eyes who just witnessed your newly born romance.

What was Mrs. L/n gonna do?

Forbid you from seeing Jay or let you get away since it was your first time falling in love?

BALLAD OF A HOMESCHOOLED GIRL (l. Heeseung)

"Here?"

"Yeah, will do."

Heeseung locks the door of the tiny bathroom behind the two of you and sends you a lazy smile. His eyebrow twitches up at your awkward stance, hands fiddling with the edges of your short skirt and eyes turned downwards as you bite on your bottom lip. He chuckles.

"Why so nervous, baby?" He asks teasingly as he approaches you and places his hands on your hips. "It's just me."

You want to scoff at his words and this stupid smirk on his handsome face but you try to stay cool and keep your eyes steady on his. He's talking as if he's not the biggest fuck boy in your campus and doesn't have a humble score of sleeping with nearly every single girl from your year.

You've been homeschooled for the bigger part of your life.

You never go to parties.

You don't drink.

And most definitely you don't make out with strangers in your friend's microscopic bathroom.

So it's a wonder, really, how you – probably the most socially awkward girl in this country, ended up right there with Lee Heeseung's saliva on your lips.

"That's exactly why I'm nervous," you reply calmly, raising your chin up and clearing your throat. Fuck, why is it so hot in here?

"Don't worry." His thumbs trace circles on your sides. "I'll make you feel good, pretty girl."

Steady hands caress your hips before swiftly lifting you up and sitting you at the edge of an empty bathtub. With a thumb stroking your cheek, he leans down and captures your lips with his. He nibbles and sucks on the kiss-bruised plush, the heavenly feeling easing you almost immediately and making you putty in his calloused hands.

You let out half a yelp when you feel him moving your tight skirt up, resting it on your waist. His long fingers run up your thighs and inch higher and higher. Breaking the kiss, you can feel your breath hitching when he finally takes the next step and cups your clothed heat, fingertips brushing over the lacy fabric.

"Is this okay?" He mumbles into your lips as he sucks on them again.

Your face is already burning at the new sensation, never before feeling a male hand in such intimate place, and you look at him like dear caught in headlights. Cute, Heeseung thinks.

"Y-Yeah," you stutter out breathily, hands reaching forward and shyly clutching on his black t-shirt. Your mind spins as he kisses you without giving you a speaking break. "Yeah, it's just-" A small whimper makes its way out of your lips when he pushes his fingers a little more firmly, thumb pressing down on your clit. "I'm a virgin," you whisper into his mouth, looking at him with slight dread in your wide eyes and waiting for his reaction.

But he only smiles and traces your wet bottom lip with his tongue. "Yeah, figured that much. I'll take care of you, baby. Just relax."

He pecks you sweetly when you nod your head, then lets his hand slip underneath the cute lace. If the feeling of your warm and so soft cunt didn't make his dick twitch in his pants, the small whine you let out definitely did the job. Keeping his eyes on you to watch your reaction, Heeseung slowly runs two of his fingers through your folds and smiles as he notices how wet you already are.

You tilt your head backwards as he slowly starts rubbing your clit with his thumb. None of your quiet sighs go past his ears, so he does all of his best to enhance the sounds gradually into small whimpers and moans. His fingers work on your wet pussy and he finally lets his thumb drop to circle around your soaked hole.

It's only when you whimper again that he slides his slender finger between your folds and watches carefully as your eyebrows furrow up and lips part slightly. Your hips jerk into his touch and you finally give him a longer whine. Heeseung slowly moves the finger in and out, shallowly at first, then pace growing faster as you relax your body and lean forward until your forehead is resting on his stomach.

"You doin' okay?" He asks, casting a glance down at you slouched over him, hair bouncing as you nod your head. "Use your words, baby."

"It feels so good," you choke out, words barely coherent because of the way your mouth is smushed in the fabric of his shirt.

"Yeah? That's good," he coos slightly as one of his hands reaches up to caress your hair.

Soon, he's adding his middle finger into this sinful commotion and you can feel the knot in your stomach becoming tighter. He smiles slightly at the feeling of your walls clenching around him so greedily.

Your face pushes even further into into his toned stomach, his hand holding you firmly by the back of your neck as he resumes plunging his long digits in and out of your pussy. He's already learnt just how exactly to crook his fingers to earn this sweet little moan out of you, so he keeps on doing that and smirks when your nails dig into the muscles on his lower back.

He stretches you out so well, you let go of all of your senses and rely on his touch only.

"I-I'm, mmph, I'm so close."

Heeseung hums. "Oh, yeah? Then cum for me, pretty girl."

And you do. Your thighs close rapidly and squeeze his relentless hand in between them as the blissful high flows down your body. You whine and pant with your nails digging even further into his skin, but he doesn't mind – sweet praises leaving his lips as he helps you ride out your orgasm.

Once you've stopped spasming around him, Heeseung slips his fingers out of you and takes a step back, admiring your bashful face and wild eyes. You grasp the cool edge of the bathtub instead, fingers itching to reach out for him again. His hand moves up to your face and wipes the smudged lipstick from your chin before leaning down and sealing your lips with yet another kiss.

There was something about him that made you want him to do absolutely everything to you.

"C-Can you teach me how to do that?" You ask sheepishly, pulling away from him slightly.

He raises his eyebrows slightly. "Do what?"

You flush and tighten your fingers on the tub. Looking down, you clear your throat, then mumble, "You know what."

You watch as his face confronts with a crooked smile.

"Aw, baby, you wanna suck me off?"

You've only known him for the past hour but you're already so damn weak for this man, you don't even need to think twice before nodding your head. Eyes, so big and shiny, looking up at him with such innocence – Heeseung would be a very stupid man to reject this offer.

"You sure?" He asks and you nod again. "Alright, if you want to," he says, a grin plastered on his face when he starts unbuckling the belt on his hips. "I'm a sucker for pretty faces, you know. So you've never done that before?"

You shake your head silently, eyes watching his every move carefully. He lets his pants drop down to his knees, then does the same with his boxers. You swallow harshly, feeling yourself growing wet again as his semi-hard, thick cock falls between his thighs. Pretty and pink and your eyes glaze over with lust, one you've never felt before.

As if hypnotized, you watch as Heeseung's ring adorned fingers wrap around his length and he gives himself couple strokes. You're intimidated, sure, but the throbbing between your thighs pushes the feeling aside and makes you slip down the bathtub, knees hitting the tiled floor.

"Good girl," he praises with a large smile before stepping closer to you until your face is leveled with his stroked dick. "Alright, give me your hand."

You do as he says and reach your hand up, trying not to pay attention to how much smaller it looks compared to his. You do your best not to flinch when he spits on your open palm. Using his fingers, he spreads yours and wraps them at the bottom of his shaft, just where he held it half a minute ago. He's warm and veiny where you grasp him and you look up for the next instructions. He runs your intertwined hands up and down his dick, moisturizing it by spitting on your palm few more times.

"Open your mouth, baby. Tongue out," he tells you and you oblige. Once you're prepared, Heeseung lays the pink head on your tongue and gently tugs your chin a little more down. "There you go. Now, try sucking the tip, hm?"

You keep your eyes at him for a second before enclosing your lips and taking in the warm end of his dick in your mouth. You suck on it gently and look up at his reaction. Heeseung's hand slowly runs down your hair and he smiles down at you.

"Yeah, just like that, sweet thing. You can use your hand a little too, just like we did before," he encourages you, so you grow a little more comfortable and confident with your movements.

You keep it up for a moment, stroking his hardening length simultaneously. He jerks his hips suddenly with a loud groan when your tongue swirls and the tip of it and makes contact with the underside of his cock head. You instantly let go of him, worried that you did something wrong.

"No, no, baby, keep going, It was good," he says and you nod slightly before capturing his dick back in your mouth. "Try taking a little more for me, doll."

The wetness between your thighs becomes more prominent as the sound of Heeseung's grunts and huffs increases and you shift slightly. You move your head, imitating shallow thrusts as your face flushes with every next second. The act itself is so new to you, the lewdest thing you've ever done, and you whine softly at how much you're actually enjoying it.

The sound vibrates through Heeseung's now fully erected length, making him close his eyes and groan quietly in return.

His breath is grows heavier. "Fuck, baby, can I try something?"

You hum in agreement, making him twitch once again and before you know, he pushes a stranded lock behind your ear and then grabs your head by both sides gently. Listening to his open a little wider, your eyes widen when he slides even more of his dick into your warmth mouth. His groans are so sinfully attractive that you can't find a single bone in your body that wants to back down now.

You let your hand off of his cock and rest it on his thigh instead. Your face is flushed, teary eyes looking up at him so fucking prettily, looking like a damn angel at his feet, that he can't help himself from bucking his hips into your mouth a little further than he originally planned. You gasp in surprise and gag around his dick, not expecting to feel it shoved so far deep.

"Fuck, sorry! Sorry," he apologizes instantly and soothes you by caressing your hair. "Easy."

There are streaks of tears running down your cheeks now and you're sure that the make up you've been working on for so long is completely ruined now. Heeseung pulls back slightly and resumes his previous pace. You try to keep up and lap your tongue around his cock as best as you're able to, which earns a streak of soft hums from his throat. Your chin falls slack as it numbs slightly and you let him use your mouth free to his will.

"That's it, sweetheart," he moans and keeps working your head. Your knees begin to hurt uncomfortably but you would be damned if you ever dared to stop him. With two more pumps, Heeseung lets go of your hair and pulls out of your mouth, jerking himself off with quick strokes. "Where can I come?"

You clear your throat and hesitate slightly before saying, "You can do it in my mouth."

Heeseung grunts in reply before tilting your face up and shoving his dick back there again. Hot tears stain your cheeks when he finally lets go with a loud moan and splutters white seeds down your throat. The taste is not what you expected, yet you do your best to swallow as much as you can, letting the rest drip down your chin.

After coming down from his high, he pulls away to crouch down in front of you and kiss your red and swollen lips. You whimper at the slightly burning sensation yet still you pull his neck to you and let his tongue enter your needy mouth. His lips move down and sponge kisses on the soft skin of your neck before pulling you up to your feet.

"Hope it didn't hurt too much, baby," he mutters, looking pointedly at your red knees.

"It's fine," you reply quickly, drunk on his kisses and greedy for more.

It's stupid how bewitched you have him only after meeting you such short time ago. Your face stained with smudged make up. Your glossy eyes that look at him with such need. Your sweet voice and the cute little moan you let out as he sucks on your tongue – all of it. And, fuck, he can feel himself growing hard again.

"Want more?" He asks after his teeth nibble on your bottom lip.

You nod your head dumbly. "Yes, more, please. Give me more."

A rasped fucking christ drifts from between gritted teeth as he turns you both around and presses your back against the bathroom door. Your skirt is still riled up, exposing your underwear that Heeseung soon starts slipping down your legs. You sigh when the cool air hits your soaking folds and you shiver, both from cool and the nervous anticipation.

He grabs your thighs firmly and lifts you up in his arms, spreading your legs as he steps closer to rub his wet dick between your legs. Your back is pushed into the wooden surface and you hit your head by an accident as you tilt it backwards. Heeseung chuckles.

"Ready?" He breathes out, looking into your eyes and watching carefully to back away at any sign of discomfort on your face. But he finds none, only a firm nod of your head and eyes clouded with lust. "Good. Tell me if something hurts or if anything's wrong, okay?"

You nod, a sheepish smile tugging on the corners of your lips. "Yeah, okay."

Heeseung lunges forward and kisses you hungrily again as he lines his hardened length to your weeping hole. When he rocks the tip of his cock into you, you can't help the whine at the unfamiliar feeling. It doesn't hurt, unlike what you've been so afraid of – you just feel so full as he slowly sinks more and more inside you. Your clenching walls suck him in so eagerly, impatient to make him the first one to have you in such way.

And, fuck, he almost loses his mind when your seeping cunt swallows him all the way through your tightness and gripping him so hard he can barely move. Heeseung groans lowly, hands pushing onto your thighs and spreading them even more apart until he bottoms out in you fully. You claw at his shoulder blades, leaving tiny red crescent marks all over his skin whenever you move your fingers.

"You're doing good, baby?" He asks and grins when you nod your head with a moan. "Such a good girl f' me."

He fucking swears he's in love.

His hips move in careful strokes against yours at first, letting you adjust to the unfamiliar stretch. And the second he looks at your face again, he could cum solely from the starry-eyed wet look you give him.

He groans low in his throat and he thinks it's the first time in his life he stutters while fucking a girl.

"F-Fuck, baby, quit squeezin'," he pants when your tensed walls don't give him even a second of break. He clenches his eyes tightly and ruts his hips a little quicker, causing your body to rock against the door and make a dull noise. "You're so tight. So good. Prettiest girl I've ever fucked."

You sound so pathetic after hearing his praising. When he picks up the pace even more, all you hear is white noise as you let him pound you against the door. All you know at the moment is Heeseung, Heeseung, Heeseung. The way his fingertips dig into the plush of your thighs and ass, his lips on your neck, his whiny voice. Heeseung.

"Heeseung, I-," you whimper mid-sentence, voice trembling and jumping as he fucks up into you. "It's so good. You're amazing."

"Aren't you the sweetest little thing?" He snickers, giving you a harsher thrust and clicking his tongue at the strangled sound you let out.

It's overwhelming. The pleasure and him. It's a lot and soon you're left a quivering mess, swallowing thick and choking back on your tears.

"Aww, baby, I know," he coos at the sight of your shiny lashes. He wipes your under wet eyes with his thumb and squishes you even further into the door until he's chest to chest with you now. "You're doing so well for me."

By the way you're throbbing around him, he can easily tell you're close without even needing to hear your words. His eyes wander down to see your shaky fingers rubbing onto your swollen clit and he grins teasingly. "Ahh, so you do know a little something then."

He removes your hand only to replace it with his more skilled one and your body jolts forward into his, trembling in his firm hold.

You jerk in his arms, growing louder in the sounds you let out, having little to no control over them. It's so loud combined with the rattling of the old door as your body hits it over and over again. His eyes roll back at the sound of your whines – borderline screams really.

Heeseung reaches to his pocket where he's hidden your panties before and pulls them out only to shove the fabric between your parted lips.

"You're too loud, sweetheart. We need t' keep it down," he chuckles and resumes his unrelenting pace, completely unaware of how your brain has melted at his lewd act.

You're cumming on his dick within seconds, slumping heavily on his body as you cry out into his ear, teeth clenching harshly on your underwear. At the feeling of your trembling thighs and the unforgiving grip of your cunt, Heeseung furrows his eyebrows with bliss as he follows right behind you and releases right inside your warm walls.

You're nearly gone. Face so fucked out, cheeks so prettily stained with wet mascara and the black lace hanging from your drooling mouth, it makes Heeseung's cock twitch and throb as he overstuffs you with his hot strings of creamy cum.

With a whimper, you start squirming against his firm body pressed so closely to yours as his release starts overflowing out of your hole and leaking out on your bare thighs. "Stay still, baby. Lemme fill you up like a proper slut," he hums deeply, hands soothing you as they caress your skin with gentle touch, such a contrast to his filthy words. He empties himself in you completely with shallow thrusts and you pant, head dropping to his shoulder as you let your panties fall to the ground as well.

The two of you stay still like that for couple minutes, way too intimate for a pair of strangers. But you like it. Surprisingly, he makes you feel the most comfortable you've ever been around a boy. And damn what a boy he is.

Instead of letting your shaky legs touch the floor, Heeseung walks you all the way to the sink and sits you there. He grabs the first better hand towel within his reach and soaks it with warm water before bringing it to your sensitive and still throbbing pussy. He cleans you up, not minding the small jerks and sighs you let out.

You thank him softly and watch as he fixes himself up then comes back to you, stepping in between your legs and leaning down to kiss you once more. He's addicted, that's the only explanation for the way his heart hammers in his chest.

He's much gentler this time – letting his lips caress yours slowly and capturing them fully. Your mind is still hazy from him, dizzy from his intoxicating scent and shying away from his handsome face.

"Can I have your number? Please."

His embarrassingly desperate eyes are enough to have you nodding and typing your name on his roughed up phone.

When The Sun Melts The Ice — Park Sunghoon.

"okay, that's all for today guys! don't forget to come early tomorrow, we can't waste time!"

you let out a big sigh the second those words passed through your ears, you were tired, sleepy and the long practice was finally over, today you tried so much harder than usual and you could feel how your legs burned with every movement you made, all you wanted was to be in the comfort of your bed, even if it meant that when you got up your legs would shake.

from being relieved now you wanted to rip your ears off, you could hear how a small group of girls who were next to you didn't stop talking about how "beautiful" the boy who made your days a nightmare was. you just rolled your eyes in disgust, you didn't even know what they saw in him, he was arrogant, selfish, greedy, stupid and above all he had a bad temper, you weren't surprised to know that he had no friends when he treated everyone in an inferior way believing that he was better than the rest, who would want to be close to someone like him?

definitely not you, you couldn't even think of him as someone attractive when his personality already said everything about him as a person and didn't let you see beyond his frown that was furrowed 24 hours a day, the only times you could see him smile was when he beat you in some competition by making fun of you and you just wanted to erase any trace of happiness in him as if he were a picture of a fresh painting. not in a thousand years you could see yourself being friends with him, much less knowing all the things he said and did to you for the last 10 years.

while you were waiting for the rest of your teammates to leave the ice rink, your body almost ended up on the ground, you could feel someone bumping your shoulder sharply, causing you to almost lose your balance.

you turned to see who it was, and sure enough it was park sunghoon.

you cursed under your breath when you saw that arrogant smile of his peek over the edge of his lips, it was as if he had been listening to your thoughts all this time and wanted to take revenge, your friend yuna who was only a few meters from you watching everything could only laugh while covering her mouth. you had forgotten that you always had to be alert when you were around him.

you were about to say something to him but your coach's hand on your shoulder stopped you.

"hey i know you're tired but tomorrow you can stay up late training? i want to focus on you and sunghoon." if just the presence of him already put you in a bad mood, having to spend more time with him only made you want to drop off the earth.

"with sunghoon? is it really necessary?" you wanted him to be joking, you wanted to refuse, no matter what reasons mr. choi had for holding you back to share the same air as him.

"yes, you know that the olympics are close, i want to make sure that their routines are as perfect as possible," you let out another long sigh, turning your gaze towards yuna who was looking at you confused "i know that your relationship is not the best but you don't even have to speak, i will make you work until exhaustion and you know it. i only want the best for both and ensure that you win a medal, do not forget that you will be representing the republic of korea and that it is also one of your dreams, i'm doing this only for you."

and there was his speech again, you were tired of hearing it but as much as you hated the idea you knew he was right, besides for nothing in the world would you let someone like sunghoon ruin your chance to go to the olympics.

you will work hard, do better than him and win the gold medal. you wouldn't let him beat you.

"okay." your coach's smile lit up his face completely. when it came to skating he could be very tough but you knew he had a big heart, he was like your second father, after all you knew him since you were six years old.

"i'm happy to hear that, then i'll see you tomorrow." he gave a gentle squeeze on your shoulder and you just smiled back.

"what was that?" yuna was almost on top of your body waiting for an answer while you took off your skates.

"nothing, it's just that it seems that for the next few months i will have to spend more hours with sunghoon," you frowned "and every day, as if seeing him three times a week wasn't enough." you jerked your skates away but instantly regretted it, you didn't want them to be ruined.

yuna placed her finger between your eyebrows "you're going to get wrinkles," you couldn't help but giggle "and why are you so mad anyway? remember that this is not about sunghoon but about you and the olympics. i know that you will do great and win a medal."

"i guess you're right," you got up ready to go, with yuna walking by your side "and by medal you mean the gold one right?" you were joking but seeing that she was silent you hit her shoulder playfully "i can't believe that you are like my best friend and you are on his side." you put a hand on your chest pretending to be hurt.

she just laughed "i'm not! but you can't deny that he's pretty good too, you're not called the ice prince and princess for nothing. it's still hard to say who's better and anyone can win."

"yeah whatever you say, but i'm still better." you laughed but you couldn't help but feel some jealousy and insecurity.

you could see sunghoon talking to the coach in a corner, after all it wasn't the first time he beat you. you wrinkled your nose and went on your way, you didn't want to think about him anymore when you were more than sure that the following weeks would be insufferable, you had better things to do than think about him and his stupid face, just like how to improve your routine.

you were going to do your best, you just hoped you could beat him this time.

"just focus, try to do it one more time."

you bit your lip as you got up from the floor in frustration after falling for the fourth time trying to do a triple axel. you were angry, angry with yourself, with your coach, with sunghoon who kept sneering silently every time you made a mistake, you were angry with everything. and embarrassed too.

it was ridiculous that now you didn't get that jump when you had done it thousands of times before without problems, you didn't know what was wrong with you that day but you just wanted to do it right so you could stay calm, to stop tormenting your mind with the olympics and in the thousands of mistakes you could make when you were there.

you took a deep breath as you skated around the rink with your eyes closed trying to gain some confidence, muttering words of encouragement to yourself, preparing to do it one more time. you ignored everything around you, you forgot mr choi's expectant look and sunghoon's teasing one, you silenced the voices in your head and tried. it was only you

but you failed again.

"okay, that's enough." mr choi looked disappointed and couldn't even look you in the face but you didn't blame him, you couldn't do it either, the olympics were close and you were already doing everything wrong from day one. you weren't even able to show him your entire routine because you kept making silly mistakes.

you could hear sunghoon's bitter laugh in the distance "i don't even know why you focus so much on her and have so much faith when she can't even do a simple triple axel," you looked him in the eyes wanting to kill him and wishing he would shut his mouth "why is she going to the olympics with me anyway? she will never be good enough." his smirk just made you want to punch him in the face.

"sunghoon." the coach called his name with a frown, he was upset and he knew it but still didn't care, he just shrugged his shoulders pretending "stop talking, it's your turn."

tears threatened to come out of your eyes, you just sat waiting for sunghoon to finish so you could try a few more times, you closed your eyes and covered them with your hands, you didn't even want to see how he did everything perfectly, you tried to review in your mind everything you have prepared so far, but your plans are ruined when mr. choi sits next to you.

"you can go home for today," you could feel how the air left your lungs, you wanted to refuse but he kept talking "i know what you're going to tell me but the answer is no, it's clear that this is not your day, you aren't well and you have to rest because if you go there again," his finger pointed the ice rink "and you fall, you could hurt yourself and i'm sure you don't want that." he crossed his arms over his chest, waiting for you to say something but you just stayed silent looking down "look, we still have a lot of time to train, but i want you to be focused for next time, okay? we can't work like this, come tomorrow with a cool head." his cold expression changed to a softer one as soon as he caressed your hair "and don't pay attention to what sunghoon says."

your throat was closed due to the force you exerted to avoid crying preventing you from speaking, you wanted to thank him for everything but you couldn't, although you were sure he knew it.

you focused on the last thing he said to you, you were already used to sunghoon's words but that didn't mean they couldn't hurt you, they cut deep and stayed with you, you focused your gaze on him but it only made you feel worse, you hated the way he could do everything effortlessly, he aced every move, he didn't need to do much because his presence already lit up the whole place.

ever since you can remember sunghoon was like that, he had an innate talent and you were always jealous for that, he was born with a gift and you had to work hard every day to even be able to be at his level, you wanted to curse him for that.

you remembered his words from a few seconds ago, you couldn't even clearly remember why it all started.

but you hated park sunghoon.

and he hated you too.

it was nothing new for the people who knew you, it was already well known that the two of you were always competitive with each other and that you tried to be better than everyone else, all that rivalry had started when you were kids and after years it still wasn't over, it was ridiculous but it seemed to have no end.

how you wished sunghoon would fall or make some mistake so you could make fun of him the same way he made fun of you, but that didn't seem to happen anytime soon. it was stupid to deny how good he was, you could rarely see him do anything wrong and for that reason it only embarrassed you more that you couldn't get a jump you had been doing for years, sunghoon had improved a lot in a few months and you felt like you were still stuck in the same level since you are 17 years old.

you wanted to laugh when you remembered that time you tried to be friends with him at 9 years old because you had been put together for a routine, everything had started well, both were shy so you didn't talk much at first but you already admired him because you used to see him from afar.

but because of a bad move you started yelling at each other.

sunghoon was rubbing his elbow with a pained expression on his face "it's all your fault! you don't know how to skate" you already apologized and were waiting for him to do the same because you hurt your knee, but instead he just blamed you everything and stuck his tongue out at you, and that was something you couldn't tolerate.

"liar! you're the one who made us fall!" watching two little kids fight could be fun, but his coach was quick to join you to stop the yelling.

"hey, it's okay, don't fight, we're all friends and these mistakes can happen, right? now i want you to apologize." she held you both by the shoulder and brought you closer so you were face to face "come on, what are you waiting for?"

"i already apologized and he was rude." you couldn't get the frown off your face and for nothing in the world would you apologize again.

"that's a lie." sunghoon just stuck his tongue out at you again and by that time you were already crying. you hated when people were mean to you.

"dumb!" maybe you shouldn't have said that, but it was too late.

"stop crying, you look ugly!"

that afternoon, in fact, you couldn't stop crying and your parents had to pick you up to take you home, you didn't want to go for a few days but you decided you wouldn't let a silly kid ruin your fun. and since then sunghoon always made fun of you at every chance he got, he even gave you the nickname "cry baby" even though you never stood idly by and that was just another reason for things between you to get worse. you still remember like it was yesterday when he told you that you would never become good figure skater even if you practiced your whole life.

you didn't even remember how it had been or if it was really his fault that you fell, but the fact is that everything had started because he didn't want to apologize and was rude to you, you used to be a very sensitive kid so you still had a grudge against him.

you were very different, sunghoon was someone cold, selfish and very hard on himself too, while for your part you were very different from him you always found the bright side of things, you helped your teammates no matter what and you enjoyed what you did, you could never understand him no matter how hard you tried, you were more than sure that he was an insensitive and heartless boy.

yeah, you hated park sunghoon.

it's been 2 weeks and you're still staying up late with sunghoon to train, there were other competitions coming up but you two were the stars for the olympics.

you were doing better every time, and he was not far behind.

you hated to admit it but he was good. he was so freaking good.

the way he moves is captivating, you could spend hours just watching him move, he was delicate but precise and marked his movements well at the same time, the elegance and beauty of the sport is portrayed in every aspect of him when he's on the ice, he was definitely made for it.

but you didn't except less, after all he was your competition for a reason.

his routine was too good, but you had confidence in yourself and that yours was even better, you would not let something similar to happen a few years ago, when they chose him over you for almost all the competitions they had to represent to the republic of korea, that was your last straw. you still remember crying almost every night because of it.

"excuse me guys, i have a call and i have to answer." you just nodded and kept looking at sunghoon.

he took advantage of that moment to start practicing his quad axel, ever since he saw his biggest idol do it he became obsessed with the idea that he could do it too, mr. choi always scolded him because it was a very dangerous jump and he could get hurt by whatever mistake he made, but he was stubborn and kept trying anyway but you weren't surprised, knowing his personality you were sure he thought he was better than the rest and it wouldn't take him long to handle it perfectly.

you looked to the side for a second diverting your attention from him and a loud noise made you turn back to him almost instantly, sunghoon was on the floor and you just hissed because it was sure painful "better luck next time!" you yelled at him as you saw how he turned around floor.

you brushed him off and just got ready to enter the ice rink, but he wasn't moving an inch and had his face hidden in his arms.

"sunghoon what the hell are you doing? get out so i can practice, you're on the way." you snorted. you thought he was faking it but it took you a couple of seconds to realize he wasn't.

ignoring the voices in your head you quickly approach him, kneeling beside him, you see how his knuckles were white from squeezing his hands so much. you didn't know what to do, he hurted himself? should you tell him something? help him up? call mr choi? all thought left your head the moment sunghoon's eyes collided with yours, they were red and his cheeks were wet with traces of tears, his brow was furrowed and his lip had a small trace of blood from how strong he had been biting all that time.

and you didn't like the feeling of your stomach wanting to come out of your mouth.

"get the fuck off." you didn't realize your hand was so close to his body until he pushed it away. you tried to ignore him and want to help him but he didn't even let you speak "where's mr. choi?"

"i don't know." you walked away from him, not wanting to deal with his bad mood any longer and call mr. choi to take care of him instead.

you saw him struggle to get up, but as soon as he wanted to rest his body on his right leg it vanished almost instantly, he threw a curse into the air. the great park sunghoon, the ice prince, lying on the ground crying from a silly fall? you could only think how pathetic he looked at that moment.

"stop doing that, god you look so stupid, i will just call an ambulance or something." you didn't even really know what you were supposed to do.

the only reason you wanted to use your phone was so you could take a picture of him without him noticing and make fun of it for all eternity. you knew that he was embarrassed by his photos of when he was a child that still circulated on the internet, so this was the perfect opportunity to have a good laugh every time you entered any social media, seeing him so vulnerable just gave you infinite ideas. but you didn't do any of them, and you weren't sure if he would have done the same to you.

"just call mr. choi, i don't need you." he ran his hands over his face and pulled at his hair in frustration.

"can you shut up? i'm trying to be nice, you know i could just leave you lying here suffering because you're an idiot who doesn't know his limits and doesn't accept help, right?" maybe you should have done what he told you instead of continuing to embitter your existence with his presence.

"did i ever ask you to come help me? stop acting like you're good now, i don't need your stupid pity and much less your help, i'd rather break my ankle than be another second near you." you were more than grateful that those feelings were mutual, you were just wasting your time trying to be nice to him.

and so you confirmed once again that you hated him.

but that annoying sensation didn't leave your chest, you hated sunghoon but you hated even more that feeling that you never felt for him invade your body before. was it pity? you were sure it was, it must also be the nerves of the moment. and you couldn't sit idly by, you didn't even know where mr. choi had gone, if you just left him alone there you wouldn't be much better than him.

and you don't want to be someone like him.

"well the thing is you probably did break your ankle." the look he gave you almost made you back away from him, you've never seen so many emotions run through someone's orbs before and it was overwhelming.

you didn't want to keep looking at him because of how uncomfortable you were starting to feel so you turned around looking for mr. choi, you didn't want to be there anymore, but you couldn't even get 2 meters away from him when he finally appeared.

"what happened?" his voice sounded scared, terrified. he hurriedly approached sunghoon and wasted no time taking off his skate and seeing the state of his body, you walked away while listening to his moans of pain. this was none of your business "y/n i already called an ambulance, you go with him i will follow you with my car behind."

"what?" you opened your eyes wanting to believe that you heard wrong, but mr. choi repeated it to you loud and clear "but-"

"no excuses now."

you couldn't say another word. everything had happened very quickly, you didn't even remember if it was your body that moved on its own but you were already in the back of the ambulance next to sunghoon. you wanted to die.

both are wrapped in a silence that surpassed the uncomfortable, the tension could be counted with just a knife no matter how sharp it was, you keep looking everywhere avoiding his eyes.

"you need to tell your family." you didn't realize those words came out of your mouth instead of staying in your head.

"i don't have my phone." his eyes closed and you had barely heard him speak.

"i'll call them for you, i just need you to give me a number."

"no you won't, god stop being so annoying, just let mr. choi take care of everything." and there was his annoyed expression again, you were already surprised to see him calm for so long.

you wanted to say so many things at that time, but not a single sound left your lips just out of pity.

you made a little mental note to yourself that this would be the first and last time you would try to help park sunghoon.

the atmosphere was tense, you felt how simply the air from those four walls crushed your body and cut the air from your lungs, your head was heavy and the vision in your eyes became blurred over time because you had only been looking at the same spot in the floor for the last 10 minutes.

you never felt that time passed as slowly as it does now.

you just wanted mr. choi to finish talking to the doctor and finish all his calls so you could tell him that you would leave that place to go home, if you spent just one more second next to sunghoon you would feel how your lungs would become intoxicated.

and he felt the same as you, it was uncomfortable having your presence so close and that neither said anything knowing that a single comment would be like dropping a bomb, and both knew that the damage it would leave couldn't be repaired.

but there you were, opening your big, silly mouth, unable to contain yourself "how do you feel?"

"are you seriously asking me that?" you rolled your eyes for the sixth time that day at his response, at least you no longer felt your throat burn.

"yes, that's what i just did, are you deaf?" you spat out your words

sunghoon's mood wasn't the best, it never was, and with everything he was feeling at the time, your words and your mere presence were enough to make him explode.

"god, can you just leave me alone and get the fuck out of here!? why would i want someone as useless as you here? i'm sick of you, you're not good at skating or doing whatever it is you want to do now! we're not friends and never will be don't even try it, get that into that head of yours at least that's how you use it for something, i don't even know why you're still here when all you do is sulk me up and be a nuisance here." his finger was pointing at you, his body moving closer to yours with every word he spat hatefully in your face and neither of you broke eye contact.

it was pathetic how his words still had such an effect on you, he meant nothing to you so why did it hurt so much? why did you want to cry and yell in his face for him to shut up? why did your body feel so weak, as if your knees would lose strength if you kept looking into his eyes?

for almost all your life you had to put up with his insults and mistreatment, you were sick of it, you didn't want to keep quiet anymore, he even screwed up your mind making you believe thousands of times that you could never be a good skater knowing how much it affected you and how much it meant to you, you both shared the same passion so what was his problem? every day you wished you had never met him.

you would travel to the past a million times changing the timeline as much as necessary to avoid meeting him, to avoid knowing his name that consumed so much time and energy, to avoid feeling the way you did now.

"fuck you sunghoon, you've been acting like a fucking idiot when all i wanted to do was help you! you're a selfish bastard who just likes to suck the life out of people, you can't and don't have the right to treat me like shit just because you want to, i'm tired of you and you know what? i'm thankful that you injured your ankle and you can't go to the olympics now because it was your big dream, right? well that's a shame because you really deserved it and i really hope you never get to skate again!"

you would go back in time to avoid becoming someone heartless like him who didn't measure his words and only spoke with the intention of hurting all the people around him.

your heart was threatening to burst out of its cage in the rage of the moment. those words came from the depths of you, you knew that everything you said was wrong but you didn't regret it, at least you no longer felt that annoying weight on your chest.

"hey why are you guys yelling so much? we're in a hospital." the moment mr. choi's voice reached your ears was when you finally looked away from sunghoon's eyes.

"get out." his voice came out weaker than before, you couldn't see him in the face, you wanted to give him the pleasure of seeing you doing something he asked you after so long and you just walked out of there without saying anything.

you did it, you really made the effort to get along with him not just once but twice already but now you regret even thinking about it in the first place, so many years had passed and you didn't know why you thought maybe he had changed.

you closed your eyes tightly in the hope that it would help you become invisible to mr. choi.

you knew that when he approached you with that look it was to ask you for something you didn't like. and you knew that it only meant one thing; park sunghoon.

"you don't know anything about him?" you looked at him with tired eyes, although you could understand his concern, what happened to him had nothing to do with you.

"no, why should i know?" you wanted to hit yourself when you noticed how rude those words had come out, he didn't have to pay for your bad mood in the last few days.

the words of the famous ice prince wouldn't leave your head and they didn't seem to want to do it soon either, you couldn't skate in peace thinking that maybe you could fall like him or remembering all the times he told you that you would never be a good skater, or that all your routines were mediocre.

you hated that despite not seeing him these days you still felt his shadow behind you in everything you did once you entered the ice rink, as if he were saying those cruel words in your ear all the time.

"great, because i need you to take the stuff he left here when he got injured, i would but..." he didn't continue saying anything else, you sighed when you thought that maybe he was doing all that on purpose, after all it wasn't the first time he did something like this so that you two would get along.

your silence was an affirmative answer for him, so he went to look for the bags and the skates, which was probably what he left behind. you turned your head finding yuna, instantly begging her with your eyes to come with you.

"don't even think about it." she turned her back on you starting to walk in the opposite direction and you already had your arms holding her against your body.

"please, please, don't leave me alone in this," you said in a whimper, your words muffled against her back, you didn't want to get your face out of there until she said yes "did you forget all the things i did for you?"

you thought you could easily manipulate her but she knew you too well for your liking "as much as i love you, it's not in my plans to go to his house, much less with you knowing what happened the last time you saw each other" you didn't want that either, go to sunghoon's house and alone? not even in dreams.

and in a blink there you were, in front of the door of his house.

completely alone.

on the way there all you did was curse yuna for letting you go to that hell alone and you cursed sunghoon too by the way because there was never a bad time to do it. why didn't he go get his things? or his parents?

the neighbors probably thought you were a freak for standing there for more than 5 minutes without even moving a bit. you had to work up the strength to see him and not shoot him with the first thing in your hand.

you gathered your strength and lifting your chest like a dove, you rang the doorbell praying that anyone but him would open it.

but your prayers were in vain when his weary face with dark circles under his eyes and crutches on both sides of his body were the first thing you saw.

you didn't even know what to say or do, your eyes widened in surprise, ever since you met him there wasn't a single time you saw him in such a... unfortunate state, his face was always perfect and groomed, you were sure he would always took the necessary time to look good at any time and especially in his presentations that finding any imperfection on his face was like looking for a needle in a haystack. you couldn't help but feel bad for him, he looked as if he had spent the whole night crying and only now was getting up from his depressive nest. you knew it because you were like that before and you weren't proud of it.

the sudden breeze hitting your face snaps you out of your thoughts, sunghoon had slammed the door in your face without saying anything and didn't even give you a chance to speak. you couldn't believe it, he was acting like a capricious child, you opened your mouth to yell at him but you just threw his things on the floor in anger not caring what was inside and you were ready to walk away, but a soft voice at your back stopped all your movements.

"oh, i'm so sorry! please excuse my son, he never behaves like that." you wanted to laugh at that, if only she knew.

ignoring that, you focused on her, you couldn't deny that her eyes and her black hair hypnotized you for a few seconds, it wasn't the first time you saw sunghoon's mother but the first time you were so close to her. the two of them were almost the same in appearance but from a distance you could already tell that she was much sweeter than him.

"it's okay, i just came to drop off the bags that he left behind the other day." your cheeks turned red at how soft your voice became.

"thank you so much and i'm sorry for the inconvenience, we couldn't find time to go look for them ourselves." she took the bags in her hands and started to go into the house, you thought she was going to say goodbye to you "please come in!" and you were wrong.

"but mom-" all that time sunghoon was behind her and only now did you notice.

"you just go in and stay there, i'll talk to you later." although she said it as low as possible just for him to hear it also reached your ears and you couldn't help but giggle, not even sunghoon's gaze could shut you up, but his mother turning to see you again did "please join us, we were about to have dinner as a family."

"oh no! no need-"

"please! you took the trouble to come here and you need to eat something, take it as an apology," you wanted to say no again, make up some excuse, any would be fine but the look in her eyes won you over and now you were standing awkwardly inside their house while you waited for mrs. park to close the door behind you "sunghoon take this to your room."

the expression he put on seemed amused, he made you want to laugh again, probably because it seemed like his room was upstairs and he, well... had crutches.

his mother disappeared from your sight and if before you were uncomfortable now with sunghoon by your side it was much worse.

"can you- uh, can you help me?" him asking you for help was the last thing you expected.

you hesitated, you didn't want to do it you still couldn't forget everything he told you days ago and that still hurt your chest when you remembered it, you wanted to see him fight to be able to carry the bags by himself and if it was possible that his ankle would hurt even more, you wanted to be just as shitty as him and tell him to his face all the things you still had saved.

but you couldn't.

you couldn't afford to stoop that low just because you were hurt, he needed your help so you would just do it. in complete silence you grabbed the largest bag and started to climb the stairs, you had to wait at the top of them for him to come to your side and tell you where to leave it, on that small path you couldn't help but look around you, it was full of family pictures and you noticed that downstairs there was a special place with all the medals and trophies sunghoon had won since he was a kid, up here there were a lot of pictures of him since he was practically a baby, you weren't that surprised because after all you knew each other since you were 6 years old and you still remembered how he looked at that time and he hadn't changed that much since then.

but what did surprise you was seeing his smile in all the photos, when you saw him he rarely smiled and in that hallway all the happiness and love he felt for figure skating was captured, something you had never seen in all the time that you knew him, he was always a private person so he probably only showed himself that way to his family, but it was reassuring to see that he wasn't always the moody guy who seemed to hate everyone and life itself.

"you can leave it here." you had been so immersed looking at the photos that you didn't notice sunghoon in front of the door of his room. you were surprised again to see that he wasn't so… cold. there were posters of his favorite skaters and probably his favorite bands, plus there were a few stuffed animals lying around as well.

sunghoon's mother's voice calling both of you from downstairs made you remember that now you had to have dinner with his family, your hands were shaking and he noticed that "don't be nervous, they aren't going to bite you." you snorted, wanting to kick one of their crutches out of sight.

"just shut up, I shouldn't even be here right now."

"hey be more respectful, be grateful that my family wants to have someone like you in our house, if it were up to me I wouldn't even have opened the door for you." you just ignored him and left his room, but the moment you were downstairs again the nerves consumed your body.

"come on sweetie, dinner is ready." mrs. park caressed your shoulder affectionately and led you to the table where there were already two other people, you quickly bowed.

contrary to what you thought, the conversation with his family was really nice they made an effort to make you feel at home and you appreciated that, although at first it was a bit awkward and it seemed that they asked you questions as if you were sunghoon's partner, you were able to talk with them as if you had known them all your life, his mother and sister were some of the sweetest people you have met so far, his father didn't speak much but still congratulated you as if you were his own daughter when you started talking about your achievements on the ice rink.

sunghoon didn't even speak to you the whole night, although most of the conversation was focused on you he managed to act as if you didn't exist, when he talked to his family he seemed like a completely different person from the one you knew, the tone of his voice was much softer with them and he laughed more often, you were sure his giggles would stay in your mind for a long time because as much as you hated to admit it, he was adorable.

that night something in your head changed, your perception of him still hadn't changed that much, his family was still much nicer than him however ignoring that you always thought he was someone arrogant who didn't care if he was the best or not because just it came naturally to him and he was unable to empathize with or care for anyone other than himself.

but maybe you were wrong.

he was still a jerk to you, but you got to know a part of him you didn't know existed.

"thank you so much for everything." you lost count of the times you bowed and thanked for everything.

"you can always come back whenever you want darling, next time I can make you your favorite food," you smiled at her, ready to go "are you going alone? It's quite late already sunghoon can accompany you so you don't go alone."

you wanted to throw up at that thought, you tried to say different excuses but none had convinced mrs. park enough to let you walk alone late at night, so the three of you agreed that it would only be a few blocks.

you were convinced that the awkward atmosphere between you whenever you were alone would never leave, you wanted that moment to end quickly but considering that he can't even walk properly it was kind of hard.

you had been walking side by side for several minutes in complete silence, you bit your lip as you watched the stars in the sky to distract yourself.

"my doctor said that I can skate again without much effort," he spoke out of the blue and you just left him, at least he had broken the silence "I won't be able to go to the olympics but at least it's not so bad that it leaves me without skating for the rest of my life."

you knew he was saying that because of what you told him that time in the hospital, you hesitated to apologize, you remembered the moment from years ago but you were no longer children and you had to be responsible for your words, after all you couldn't hold a grudge all your life.

"I'm sorry."

he shook his head denying "you have nothing to apologize for, that should be me."

"what?" you couldn't believe that, park sunghoon apologizing? you wanted to pinch yourself to make sure you weren't imagining it "you're apologizing because your mother asked you to, right?" you wanted to make fun of him because you didn't think his attempted apology was sincere, but his words silenced you.

"look, I'm only going to say this once," you had both stopped walking and now you were looking into each other's eyes, you had never paid them as much attention as now, he swallowed before speaking "I'm really sorry."

you didn't know what to say, your body went still and the words disappeared from your head, you realized how hard it had been for him to blurt out those words and part of it was funny, but on the other hand you couldn't stop thinking about the fact that he apologized to you. after years—after having said so many horrible things, this was the first time that you both let your true feelings show and were vulnerable.

you were both sorry and you noticed it.

both look into each other's eyes for a while longer until he finally leaves greeting you with a slight nod, leaving you stunned in the middle of the night, with the stars as the only witness of that rare moment.

maybe your perception of him had changed that day after all.

it had been almost 3 weeks since that little conversation you had and you haven't heard from him since.

for some reason now your mind felt more relaxed and you were able to feel freer with your movements, now you did everything 10 times better than before.

except today you seemed to have a problem again, you had been trying to do a toe loop for several minutes but you always landed wrong or didn't complete all the laps, you were already starting to get frustrated and mr choi didn't seem to be around at the time.

"you're doing it wrong." a soft voice behind you makes you turn your body almost completely towards him.

"what are you doing here?" It was the first thing that came out of your mouth when you saw him enter the ice rink.

"skating" he left without bothering to look at you and you sighed once more, it would always be difficult trying to talk to him, especially knowing the kind of complicated relationship you still had. not that you had become the best of friends for an apology.

but at least you were relieved that his ankle was okay, you still felt bad about what you told him at the hospital. although you couldn't stop thinking about the idea that this would be a chance to win because it left your way clear.

you tried it one more time, with the small big difference that when you landed sunghoon's hands were on you, you shivered when you felt the contact of his skin on your waist.

"you keep doing it wrong." you saw his smirk, surely he was making fun of you.

"I know." you wanted to walk away from the uncomfortable feeling of your heart starting to beat faster but his grip only tightened.

"yeah but you're not doing anything to fix it, you keep making the same mistake over and over again." feeling his breath against your neck sent shivers down your spine.

"what do you want?" you pushed his hands away from you more roughly than you meant to. now you were seeing each other face to face.

sunghoon rolled his eyes "nothing, I just want to help you" you narrowed your eyes, not fully believing in his words "you have to lift your chest more, you're very hunched over and you're just going to end up hurting yourself." he showed with his body how you had been doing it, giving you a quizzical look for not knowing something so simple "try again now."

you snorted but you listened to what he said, you did the same as before only changing your posture a little. and to your surprise you were able to achieve it perfectly.

"see? I told you." today he was very smiling, it was rare to see him like that.

"thanks but what are you? are you trying to be my trainer now?"

"so what if I want to be?" your body stopped moving just to look at him incredulously and instantly a big laugh came out of his mouth.

"what is so funny?"

"your faces," it took him a couple of seconds to calm down, by the time he finished he was on his knee while the other held his stomach "I'm serious, after all I won't be able to compete and you're the only one good enough out of here that can win, I won't let you lose just because you can't do a dumb toe loop."

he just said you were good? even though you thought the idea of him was a bit stupid, you could feel how all the heat of your body was concentrated in your cheeks dyeing them red, why was he being nice to you so suddenly? did he forget all the things you said to each other? surely the blow he took made him dumber than he already was.

you could hear him laugh again "shut up."

"what, are you two a couple now?" you thought that that day would be quiet, but yuna had other plans for you.

"what are you talking about?" you complained, still sleepy on your body.

"don't look at me like that, a few weeks ago I could have sworn you guys were about to kill each other but now you're close together, what with the "you're doing it wrong, let me help you" bullshit just to hold your waist? because you were doing it perfect." she couldn't believe it.

"stop saying nonsense, i guess he just feel bad cause he can't skate at the olympics now, he's just helping me."

yuna rolled her eyes "if you say so."

she walks away leaving you alone with your thoughts, and you didn't like the feeling in your stomach.

despite having refused his proposal about 10 times, sunghoon ended up convincing you and whenever he could he helped you although it wasn't much since you were good enough at what you did, you had been spending time together at the ice rink for several days and surprisingly you didn't insult each other even once. or well, he hadn't insulted you because you had already lost count of the things you said to him for purposely tripping you up a couple of times. and now you find yourself enjoying his company, something you never thought was possible before, you two were still very different but you had found a way to be together without bumping into each other so much and it was through skating, both of you loved it so much that you began to get along little by little just because of that.

"you're fine, I know you'll be able to do it perfectly there, just try not to do the quad axel." If you had been told a few months ago that you would be laughing with sunghoon today while sharing a drink he bought for you, you would have laughed on their faces as loud as ever.

leaving that aside, you noticed him a little more discouraged than usual today, there were times when you saw him totally immersed in his thoughts or you had to repeat things twice when you spoke to him "is something wrong? I notice that you're distracted."

"I'm just thinking about you." you almost choked on the bottle of soda you were drinking, your stomach started to feel weird and your breathing was ragged.

"what?" you turned your face while touching your cheeks, noticing that they were hot, it was embarrassing and he just laughs.

"I'm sorry, what I mean is that- I'm really sorry" he looks into your eyes intensely and your whole body trembles at that, you've never seen so much shine in them "I'm really, really sorry... for everything. especially the day i got injured, this means everything to me and i was terrified that i would never be able to skate again because of my own stupidity, for being so stubborn and not listening to others, also because i had never hurt myself before and at that moment I could feel how my ankle was separating from my whole body, this injury scared the hell out of me." the crack in his voice reaches in and squeezes your heart so tight you can feel your eyes tearing up "you were right in all things what did you say, that I'm a heartless egoist who never thinks about what he says and I'm hurting the people around me-"

it was the second time you saw him cry.

"I didn't mean that." you blink the tears away as fast as they appeared, seeing sunghoon in that state and remembering all bothered you more than you liked to admit. before you might have enjoyed it but now it was different.

and it was the first time you cried in front of him.

"okay, I know I deserved it anyway," his eyes were now focused on the floor "I was just- I was trying to be the best but I realized quite late that that wasn't the way and everything I told you during years was really horrible and I'm sorry you had to endure all that, if I were you I would have hit myself several times already." he chuckled.

"i really wanted to," you hit him with your shoulder playfully "but I'm sorry too, I said horrible things to you."

"don't worry about me, I don't even know why I behaved like this for so long and I wish I could have seen how stupid I was much earlier." he moved his hand close to yours, wanting to take it in his but finally he ended up putting it in his pocket "I realized that skating means a lot to you too. maybe we're not so different after all." he looked at your face again with a smile on his face.

"maybe you're right, I mean, look at us now talking normally as if nothing happened."

"yeah but I don't want this to come to nothing, I really want you to forgive me." your heart jumped out of your chest "I was scared that you were so much better than me because I really think you could easily defeat me because of how much you try every day, even much more than me, the things I did and said to make you feel bad so that you stop skating are unjustified, but now I want to do things right and I hope we can start again." he sounded so sorry that he was really making it hard for you to hold a grudge.

"there were many years that we argued for nothing and you're not the only one to blame, you were ten times worse with me but I cannot hold a grudge or hate you all my life," he lifted his head with hope in his eyes waiting for you to keep talking "I think we're fine."

"thank you." his smile was accomplishing things inside of you, and you didn't like it "also, uh- I could see what a wonderful person you are and I was surprised that you treated me well after all, I was waiting for you to spit on me when you saw me or something like that," you raised your eyebrow wanting to really hit him this time "and I saw this as my chance to make things right."

"don't lie to me now, it was your mom that changed your mind so suddenly, right?" he burst out laughing, only to end up leaning his head against the wall staring up at the ceiling.

"maybe she played a big role in that." you couldn't take your eyes off his profile "you're a really good skater and i'll tell you all the time if need be in order to erase the bad things i said before and that probably are still in your head."

"what do you mean?"

"you don't need to pretend with me now, I can tell those little insecurities you have when you're on the ice." you wanted to get out of that place as fast as possible, you didn't think you were so obvious about it and sunghoon noticing made things worse.

he noticed that but he couldn't do anything else besides give you a smile, you simply remained silent with your eyes closed enjoying the silence and thanking that it wasn't uncomfortable like previous times, now both were a little more comfortable with each other's presence.

you needed to hear those words, you needed to feel that relief, as if the weight you had been feeling on your back all this time stopped squeezing your wounds, letting them heal.

if it wasn't for mr. choi who burst in, you both would have fallen asleep.

it was finally the day.

and there you were, at the winter olympics with your suit on waiting for your turn which was at any moment. you felt like throwing up since you took the plane to here and days had passed since that, your body was shaking—you could feel your blood flow through your veins and you were sure that at any moment you would pass out before entering the ice rink, mr. choi had been by your side the whole time trying to calm you down but your heart seemed to want to explode and you just wanted to dig your nails into your skin like a cat.

you kept going around and you were already making everyone around you nervous. you were so focused fixing your suit making sure there was no mistake that you almost didn't hear the sound of your phone, it was a call. and it was from sunghoon.

you pick it up quickly "hey." his voice sounded so calm in your ears that he helped you let out a sigh you didn't even know you were holding.

"hey." you noticed how even your voice trembled.

"I can feel from here how nervous you are," his laugh cleared your thoughts "relax, I know you can handle this and it will be great."

you bit your lip, not knowing very well what to say "thank you sunghoon, but if you were with me right now I would have already pulled your hair out to calm myself." his loud laugh forced you to move the phone away from your ear.

"you're so lucky, you're there with my biggest idol and you're wasting your time being nervous," you let out a sigh, silently thanked him for calling you and speaking to you so normally, maybe you'd even ask for an autograph to thank him properly. you talked for a while about a butterfly that had entered sunghoon's room the other day until mr. choi called you to get ready "I don't want to take up any more of your time but i want you to know that you don't have to prove anything to anyone, everything will be fine considering that you had the best coach," you smiled at that "you have the strength and talent to win all the medals in the world, good luck."

he hung up without letting you say anything and you could swear that a second before you heard him blow a kiss. but maybe it was just your imagination.

but sunghoon was right, you had worked hard day and night for this moment and would do your best. you were fulfilling your dream, and you were going to win that medal.

"what did sunghoon say to you to make you blush like this?" mr. choi teased you, you hadn't noticed how hot your cheeks felt until he pointed it out.

he had been very sweet to you and you couldn't help it. but quickly any thoughts left your head, you were ready to compete.

"congratulations! I knew you would make it."

arms around your waist were the first thing you felt when you opened your door in the middle of the night, sunghoon's hug was already leaving you breathless, besides you felt dizzy from the sudden warmth of his body against yours, which was still cold and tired, then he lifts you off the ground causing you to hold on tight to him as he spun you around in the air.

his laughter had lit up the night along with the stars and the sound of crickets in the background, when he left you on the ground and walked away from your body you couldn't help but watch him carefully, you had spent several days without seeing him after spending practically 24 hours together and only now did you realize how beautiful he was.

"thank you sunghoon," his smile really made your day so much better "why are you here?"

"well, you just arrived and I definitely had to be the first to congratulate you in person when I already sent you thousands of messages" his hand never let go of his waist "besides mr. choi obviously."

so pretty.

you never got to see his features as closely as now, but he really looked like a dream, now you could understand those girls on your team who never stopped talking about him, it had only been you who was clouded by the hatred that you felt that you never saw beyond his attitudes with you.

"my parents really wanted to see you today," his voice was full of emotion and you could feel how some tears wanted to come out of your eyes, not even your parents were there with you but you had all the support of his "but it's too late, they still want you to know that you did amazing and that you deserve it."

"that's so sweet," you ran your hand over his arm that was still holding you "tell them thanks for me, maybe I'll visit them again one of these days."

"they would love that."

you were both silent for a while, it wasn't annoying but you really wanted to talk to him more but nothing wanted to come out of your mouth.

"i think i should-"

"hey." he stopped any movement tightening his grip, he had been scared to see how you wanted to go back into your house.

"what's the matter?"

"uh, nothing, I..." he fills his other hand up to his neck scratching it "I'm really proud of you."

you giggled seeing him so nervous, giving compliments was still a bit difficult for him "thank you sunghoon, to be honest I never thought I'd hear that from you."

"but I'm serious, all those times I told you that you didn't know how to skate or that you did it wrong were a complete lie, you did it perfectly and I-"

"hey, it's okay," you caressed his arm looking for him to look you in the eye "you already apologized before, you don't need to do it again."

"okay," now he was so restless that with his movements he hit your shoulder lightly "I can't believe we spent years doing this stupid thing for nothing."

you both laugh and remain silent looking at each other under the moonlight. you felt the change in the air and now there was a different sparkle in his eyes that told you so many things you were terrified to take in.

sunghoon never knew when it happened but your existence began to weigh less and less on his head, you were still on his mind but now it was very different, he began to feel different every time he was with you and he was surprised to know that you weren't someone else completely different and you were the same girl he spent "hating" for years. was it really hate? he never believed that but he could never close his mouth when he saw you do something wrong, maybe he liked seeing you angry or seeing how you failed because after all you were the only competition he had.

his heart didn't lie but he was scared as hell of how things could turn out, he even talked to his mother about it but now he was questioning if it had been a good idea. he never fell in love, hell he hadn't even been as interested in a person as he does with you, the constant need he felt to want to help you improve and be with you all the time was beginning to be annoying for him. so many years alone and now his foolish heart wants to merge with yours? it was ridiculous.

but he liked it.

all these new sensations made him feel like a totally new person who was just discovering the world despite having lived 19 years. everything had been so gray for him that he was overwhelmed to see that there were millions of colors out there that he had refused to see.

suddenly sunghoon gets closer to your body, his fingers caress your cheek and your body begins to fail "what are you doing?"

"actually I have something else to tell you," you were scared by your heartbeat that didn't seem to want to control itself "I can't keep it anymore but I think- I think I like you."

time stops for a few seconds, your eyes open wide not believing what you just heard, you don't move or say anything and sunghoon thinks maybe he made a mistake, he wanted to speak again to apologize but you walk away from him, as if his touch burned you.

"I'm sorry I have to go." you closed the door in his face.

and sunghoon thought that he did everything wrong, that after all your wounds were still open and he had no right to have done that, that contrary to your words maybe your heart hadn't completely forgiven him. he wished he had cleaned his mouth with soap.

the overwhelming wave of feelings that hit you felt like a tsunami, and you were drowning.

you haven't seen sunghoon since then and your mind was a complete mess.

it was absurd that no matter what the reason was, he was always circulating your thoughts without letting you rest even for a single day.

"who are you waiting for?" yuna touched your shoulder surprising you.

"no one, why?"

"well you've been looking at the door for like ten minutes." you turned your whole body only to be in front of her with a marked expression of confusion on your face.

"no I wasn't."

"yeah you were," she just laughs "never mind, i guess you must have a lot on your mind right now." her raised eyebrows made you suspicious of her words.

"what do you mean?"

"don't play dumb, you know perfectly well what I'm talking about," you just looked to the side avoiding her face, you didn't want to think about it "did something happen between you two? you used to be together all the time and now I haven't seen him for several days around here although his ankle was already good enough to return his training."

you played with your fingers, scared to answer, scared of your feelings "I don't know."

she was silent looking at you with her eyes narrowed "you know that with that answer you already told me everything I needed to know, right?" your cheeks burned in an instant "it always bothered you that sunghoon was someone so stubborn, but you don't realize that you're almost the same." her finger lightly tapped your forehead for you to see and stop hiding.

"we are not the same." you wrinkled your nose, wanting to end that conversation.

"oh of course not dear, I've known you both for years and I could even say that you are opposite. but ones that attract each other." she smiled seeing your expression "and both are equally oblivion with your feelings."

she got up grabbing her things, you looked quickly and everyone was ready to go to her house "yuna!"

"bye!" she quickly advanced her steps to the exit, it was impossible to stop her.

what was she referring to? you let out a groan, you already had too much on your mind for her to confuse you even more.

could you really like him? you kept thinking that, just a few months ago you hated each other to death, was it possible to have those feelings now? It was ridiculous whichever way you looked at it.

"haven't you left yet? great," mr. choi sat next to you, preventing you from thinking "i need you to practice with sunghoon, it's just to help him and control him with his ankle, I don't want him to do anything risky."

you frowned visibly annoyed "what am I now? his babysitter?" seeing his expression made you regret your words "I'm sorry but everyone is already leaving and besides, shouldn't you be the one to help him with that?"

"oh come on, don't act like you never stayed up late practicing, it won't take long." he really didn't need to tell you anything else because you would do it anyway.

the air is sharp to breathe and there you were, again wrapped in that awkward silence.

which you had not missed at all.

"are you ready?" he doesn't even look you in the eye, but neither can you.

he entered the ice rink without saying anything, the music began to play and as soon as his body moved you couldn't take your eyes off him at any time, he became one with the music, he paid attention and dedication to every little thing detail and that was what made his presentations truly unique.

"try to slow down." still he was pushing himself too hard, and you didn't want his ankle to heal badly or worst case he hurt again.

when he finished he moved closer to your body, scared that he wanted to talk about that night, but also afraid that he would ignore you. but not a single word left his mouth, he just stood there in front of you looking at your face and then opened his arms, waiting for you to do something.

you shifted your gaze from his arms to his face a few times and your body turned on its own, enveloping him in a warm embrace. your arms find their place in him and your face seeks comfort in the space of his neck, you feel in heaven when he tries to wrap you around his whole body leaving not a single inch between you "can we skate together? it feels lonely."

both weren't even skating like you should, just spinning around nonstop while your arms constantly searched for your bodies not wanting to be even a second apart, it was as if you needed each other's warmth to live or else the ice below would consume you.

your body was at peace but at the same time full of nerves and doubts, had it been a mistake not to say anything at that moment and close the door in his face? why didn't he push you away after you behaved that way? you didn't know but you don't want the answer either, you didn't want to think about what would become of you if he just disappeared from your life, he was always there no matter if you couldn't stand each other before. he will always be a part of your life.

"actually I asked mr. choi to do this," you moved your head away from his chest, looking at him confused "I almost had to beg him to tell you to stay a little longer and let us be alone."

"why did you do it?"

his face came closer to yours "because I missed you." his breathing mixed with yours and you no longer thought you would be able to stay calm "besides because the last time I saw you you seemed to hate me again."

you hid your face again only to hit his chest, he didn't make a sound and the rage you had inside you made you hit him again and again and again. but he never pushed you away, his hands were still firm on your body, he knew he deserved it.

"you can't do this to me," you tried not to shed a single tear "saying that to me after everything you've put me through? it's not fair."

"I'm sorry."

"I know. I know you are and I hate you for it." when you stopped beating him sunghoon could only hug you tightly letting you sob into his shirt "I hate you for making me forgive you so easily despite everything."

"I'm really sorry." hearing sunghoon apologize had already become normal "it was my fault for saying that to you so out of the blue and thinking that you would reciprocate my feelings after everything I did to you, I-"

you cut him off with a kiss.

a shiver ran through your whole body, you had never felt your heart beat so fast to the point that it was the only thing you could feel, but the touch of his lips made you feel more alive than ever.

his lips were soft as winter, like snow that melted under your warm touch.

it was just like when the sun melts the ice.

"but above all I hate myself for reciprocating your feelings." sunghoon's soul returned to his body upon hearing those words, you can't help but smile as you see how the panic in his eyes fades.

"god you scared the hell out of me," his fingers wiped your tears gently "my crybaby," you laughed at that old nickname "since I started being with you more I could feel my heart beating faster whenever I was near you, look." he holds your hand to put it on his chest so you can feel his heartbeat "I feel so stupid for everything I did before."

you realize that back then you were drowning because you didn't swim far enough, but now you could breathe.

maybe liking him wasn't such a bad thing.

"as you should." you were silent for a while just feeling each other's heartbeat "i shouldn't have closed the door on you that day." he couldn't stop looking at your face fondly, his gaze drifting to your lips most of the time.

sunghoon took a deep breath "don't worry about it," he practically whispered on your lips, wanting another kiss "I like you a lot. I was so scared of losing you."

he closed his eyes letting his forehead rest against yours "I like you a lot too, I think I just needed time to think, I'm sorry."

"stop apologizing, just please let me kiss you again and again and again."

It was such an intimate moment, as if you were in your own bubble away from everyone and just showing each other affection.

none of you stopped until you were forced to pull away from lack of air "you made me see a lot of things differently." he brushed your hair behind your ear, caressing your cheek with the tip of his thumb.

you really noticed, sunghoon had changed a lot in such a short time to how he was just a few months ago, but you always thought it was because of his injury that had restricted many things, you never thought it was because of you. before he was cold and rarely smiled, he was alone most of the time and seemed not to want to make friends, he just concentrated on skating. but now it was as if he were a different person although deep down he was still him. the same sunghoon who pouted, didn't speak, and turned away from everyone when he was upset, the introverted but noisy boy who always made mr. choi laugh with his jokes, who worked hard everyday to be the best, the same sunghoon who always loved dearly. you laughed at yourself, you used to think he had no heart when in fact he has the biggest of all.

who would have thought that sunghoon was this loving? all the time wanting to be glued to you.

"you know, maybe I've won a lot of medals in the past, and all of them being better than you," you wanted to hit him for making fun of you at that moment "but nothing compares to you." he gives you a little peak "you are the most precious thing I've ever gained in all my life."

you laugh, running your hands over his neck "gained?" you gently tugged at his hair as you brought your face close to his lips, teasing him.

"just kiss me already."

and you did, enjoying the moment wishing it would never end and wishing your heart felt like this forever, more alive than ever.

"can i ask you out on a date?" god, you would never get tired of looking at his eyes and his moles.

"only if you don't slam doors in my face." he laughs, only for you to shut him up with another kiss, and another, and another.

"deal."

BE MY VALENTINE? . . NISHIMURA RIKI!

“GOOD AFTERNOON STUDENTS,”

you took a breath before continuing, “i hope you are all having a great friday and are excited for the weekend. before i let you off, i have a special announcement, in just a week, yongsan will be having their first valentines day festival. our very own decelis student council team will be fundraising for the ferris wheel, so please, help our council as much as you can and attend the festival with your loved ones. have a great weekend, study hard.”

you held your breath as you looked up at minji, she signed an okay before the red light in the corner shut off.

“good job yn, we’re signed off.” minji smiled and you tugged the headphones off your ears. you gathered all the papers on the desk into your hands, you let out a long sigh. the week was finally over, but the weekend was busier with the preparations of the festival.

opening the door to the central area of the broadcasting room, you smiled at all the members — thanking them. everyone was packing away their recorders and computers. seeing them leaving so early had you craving for your home, the soft sheets of your bed and the feeling of your head on your pillow.

“staying longer?” minji asked, her hand resting on your shoulder. she followed you as you placed the papers into a folder, shutting off the casting gears.

“unfortunately, i have to record some other things for the track team and for this festival.” you nodded, just hearing everything you needed to do was dreadful.

“right, the festival,” minji sang the last part of the sentence. she wiggled her brows at you mischievously.

“what?” you asked with a scrunched nose and curious eyes.

“oh i don’t know, i think you should take jungwon as your date to the fair.” she sighed dreamily. as she said his name, you looked around. although thankfully the room was partially empty and others in their own world.

“i’m pretty sure he’s busy,” you shook your head declining. you wrapped wires together, trying to look normal to minji, though your red ears and jelly legs could have been a large giveaway if observed closely.

“oh come on, just ask him. if he says no then that’s okay, at least you asked.” minji frowned. she rested her back on the table waving everyone goodbye as you did the same — thanking them for their time once again.

as the classroom emptied, the last student slipping out, you were able to comfortably talk with minji. she had a wide grin on her lips seeing you in deep thought.

yang jungwon was your longtime crush. you met him freshman year at the cat cafe you were applying for. his big round eyes and peeking dimples had you smiling at yourself. you got closer to him as time went on and school events grew closer. being on the broadcasting team, you worked almost side by side with the student council — a bonus. you never even thought of ever admitting your feelings for the boy, but as minji continued to egg you on, you might as well.

what can go wrong?

“okay, and let’s say i metaphorically agree to this, how could i even ask him out? i can’t just walk up to him and ask him to be my valentine.” you paused looking down at your sneakers. everything can go wrong.

“i knew it!” minji clapped her hands jumping up and down.

“hey wait, i never said yes — we need like a plan or something.” you placed your things into your bookbag as minji tapped her chin, thinking.

for a couple seconds it was silent in the room, just minji’s pacing on her feet and your anxious tapping fingers on your cloth bag. she was thinking for a while until she gasped, it was almost as if a light bulb went off in her head.

“you know nishimura from i think it’s like class b-2? he’s jungwon’s best friend, if we have him on board he can tell us more about jungwon and what he likes.” minji shrugged like it was that easy. you knew nishimura riki, everyone did. he was the tall, beautiful, quiet boy who excelled at almost everything. he was only close to a couple people, mostly his rugby team — that jungwon was on.

“what if he says no? then what?” again, getting worried of the entire plan. would riki tell everyone about your gigantic crush on his best friend? you’d be humiliated.

“when we get to that point we’ll see, but fingers crossed. yeah?” minji crossed her fingers with bright eyes. she grabbed her bag as well as sliding her arm across your shoulder.

chatting together through the halls, bidding goodbyes to those who stayed behind for other things — minji spoke, “hyein is gonna freak when she hears this.” the girl giggled.

oh, god.

BE MY VALENTINE? . . NISHIMURA RIKI!

THE RHYTHMIC SOUND OF A BOUNCING PATTERN EMITTED FROM THE GYMNASIUM.

you quietly shuffled in, hands behind your back with a box of warm cookies. hyein said it would be a good bribing method. let’s hope she’s right.

as you grew closer, you could see a uniform blazer thrown on the floor along with a bookbag in the corner. the boy’s figure stood in the middle of the gym as he dribbled the ball. his hair jumped almost animatedly, the long blonde streaks hidden in his brunette hair. he was almost suspended for dying his hair but got away with it by saying it was natural. you’ve known nishimura riki since junior high, he was always a fun person to be around. he made the room brighter when it was dark and sulum, you even caught yourself having a little crush on him — until jungwon came along.

stepping closer, riki threw the ball into the hoop, it went right in. another thing about riki was that he was gold at everything. sports, studies, and individuality.

the ball hit your feet and you reached down to grab it, placing the cookies on the floor. you looked up at riki and he looked almost surprised seeing you.

“hey,” you said, throwing the basketball at him.

“never thought i’d see you here.” the boy teased, bouncing the ball again. you walked closer — the pastries long forgotten.

for a while, there was no talking, just the expected sounds of the gymnasium. you both played together, laughs echoed through the room. almost forgetting why you were there, you called for a break. sitting on the floor, riki followed.

“i actually have a favor to ask.” you panted and you watched him rest back on his hands. sweat dripped from his forehead, he licked his lips waiting for you to go on.

“so, you know the festival for valentines right? i want to ask jungwon to go but i don’t know how, and i was just thinking because you’re his friend, you could help me.” you waited for an answer but he was still. this was a really, really bad idea.

“okay,” he shrugged, standing up. he walked over to his blazer and you silently cheered in your head. you stood up as well grabbing the box of cookies.

“i baked these last night, i thought if i was asking for something like this i should pay you.” placing the box next to his bag you backed up to the door looking down at your watch.

“i would stay but i kind of have to go, minji will kill me if she knows i’m late-“ you rambled but he cut you off.

“go ahead, thanks for these.” his lips formed a tight lipped smile and he shook the cookies.

whispering a small bye and giving him a thumbs up you quickly exited the gym. you ran across the halls with a smile, you didn’t think it’d be that easy.

BE MY VALENTINE? . . NISHIMURA RIKI!

STEP ONE: GET ON THE FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS.

riki rested his back on the tree, the leaves rustling above his head — falling every once in a while. he tapped away on his phone, popping chips into his mouth. you both sat together for lunch, a notebook in your hand scribbling down whatever riki said.

“are you going to be on the volunteer team?” you asked him without looking, tilting your head while writing.

riki stopped playing his game, he looked up. his eyes focused on the way your hair moved slightly in the wind and the way you bit your lip, concentrating.

“uh, not really sure, maybe?” he shrugged. he would’ve never thought to ever join things like that, but as you asked him, he really considered it.

“you should. i’ll have someone i know if i blow things with jungwon.” you chuckled looking at the sky. it seemed a bit weird to think of riki as a friend. you both didn’t know much about each other, except for your crush on his best friend.

“i think i’m free,” the boy muttered, he shut off his phone putting the bag of chips in his lap.

“good!” smiling at him, you went back to the notebook. your hands wrote quickly. riki also smiled, bigger this time. he didn’t know what it was or how to explain it but, with you, he felt normal — childish.

“okay, so, i have like three steps so far,” you turned the book to him. bright letters covered the page with three steps.

‘STEP ONE: GET ON THE FESTIVAL VOLUNTEERS.

ft .. nishimura riki! :D

STEP TWO: ASK HIM ON A” FRIENDLY” (pre-date) DATE

note — he likes outdoor activities!

STEP THREE: ASK HIM TO BE YOUR VALENTINE TO THE FESTIVAL.

note — hardest step of them all :P’

“i think this sums up our plan, yeah?” you asked riki, he said nothing but let out a little laugh.

“hey! why are you laughing? did i misspell something?” turning the notebook to yourself you scanned the page. riki shook his head snickering louder.

“nah, just think it’s cute.” the boy stood up at the bell of the lunch period, he ruffled your hair grabbing your backpack.

“wait for me,” with a wide grin you caught up to riki shoving his shoulder playfully. nothing would compare to a moment so innocent and sweet, not even a quick interaction with yang jungwon.

BE MY VALENTINE? . . NISHIMURA RIKI!

YOU WERE AT THE FESTIVAL COMMITTEE WITH RIKI BY YOUR SIDE, AWKWARDLY.

“do we just help with anything?” whispering to riki, he only shrugged. his eyes were moving quickly over the crowd, trying to find his best friend.

“jungwon hyung!” riki yelled, raising his hand to gesture jungwon over. the cat boy jogged over with a smile, a clipboard in hand.

“i didn’t expect to see you here, nishimura,” jungwon teased, he waved at you patting your shoulder.

“hyein is actually working on some banners over by the game booths. if you want to help, riki you can work with me.” jungwon motioned to hyein, hyein was wrapped in a banner flapping around under it.

“okay, see you then,” running towards hyein, you helped her from under the large tarp. when she saw you, she started giggling and you did too. her red cheeks of embarrassment and messed up hair made you laugh harder.

riki, on the other hand, couldn’t take his eyes off you.

“got a thing for her?” jungwon asked, beginning to walk towards the ferris wheel. riki followed behind, eyes continuing to stay on your figure.

“what? n-no, not really.” the boy blinked multiple times, occupying himself by looking at the ferris wheel.

“you two look pretty close already.”

if only your friendship wasn’t based on you getting a date with one of his closest friends.

“so, how’s pretty boy?” hyein teased, wiggling her eyebrows.

“jungwon?” you stopped everything. you realized you hadn’t even spoken to jungwon, mind too occupied with riki.

“no, riki of course.” she said sarcastically with a scoff. she began to climb the ladder as you held it down.

“oh, i mean i haven’t really spoken to jungwon. i haven’t had the chance, maybe later tonight.” you shrugged looking at jungwon and riki. riki was helping jungwon lift things around, he looked so pleased to help out a friend.

“i don’t know, i kind of see you with riki.” hyein stated causing you to look up at her as if she grew three heads.

“what?! no way, we’re just friends. i think?” a friendship was never established so you weren’t really sure if you could call him a friend, maybe more of an acquaintance.

“alright but look, minji and i made a bet that i can’t disclose but if you end up with riki, i win a hundred bucks.” the girl walked past you leaving you utterly dumbfounded. you were stoned in place, were you going after the wrong boy? hell no, jungwon is the boy. right?

“hey yn!” a voice startled you from behind. their hand going to your arm to pull you from your trance.

“hm? oh, huening, hi.” you greeted him with a smile. his messy brown hair covered most of his eyes but you could see them creasing up with a wide grin.

“jungwon asked if you could help him set up the mic on the stage?” huening kai pointed to the stage where jungwon stood. his brows furrowed together with a frustrated look.

“okay, thanks kai.” you shuffled back on your feet still looking at the boy. why is riki still in your head? this is about yang jungwon.

jumping up onto the stage, your hands began to nervously play with the end of your uniform skirt. this was the first one on one conversation with him.

“hey, you need me?” jungwon spun around quickly, his red hair skipped upwards and he nodded.

“i assume you know how to do this since you’re on the broadcasting club.” jungwon chuckled, embarrassed.

without another word, you began to work on setting up the mic trying to hide away from the boy’s gaze. he was practically burning holes into the side of your face.

“i think this is good, if you need to lower it just shift this down and if you want to take the mic out, slide it forward.” he muttered an okay followed by a thank you. his eyes were large, sparkly almost. you could lose yourself in them with just one glance. his dimples made an appearance and if you could, you’d poke them all day.

as you were walking away with your eyes still on jungwon’s face, you tripped on the mic wire. the end of the stage looked clearer now as you were falling quickly to your face. with your hands out ready to somewhat catch you, a hand slipped over your waist, holding you tightly.

their hot breath rose the hairs on your neck and your ears were becoming hot peppers, they were a red that was definitely not normal.

“are you okay?” it was jungwon. his concerned words replayed in your mind at a thousand miles per hour.

holy shit, it’s yang jungwon.

“yeah, yeah, i’m fine. thanks!” you unlatched his arm from your waist, running off to find hyein.

what you hadn’t seen was riki was just a step away, his box of ribbon thrown on the floor. he dropped everything for you.

BE MY VALENTINE? . . NISHIMURA RIKI!

THE COLD BREEZE BRUSHED YOUR HAIR FORWARD AND YOUR LEGS SHOOK.

but that didn’t matter, riki just told you that jungwon agreed to go on the “date” with you.

“pinch me right now.” you told riki giving him your arm and shutting your eyes. his fingers pinched you harshly through his uniform blazer that covered you.

“ow! i didn’t mean that hard, jeez.” you rubbed your arm and riki laughed. you were both walking home together, the moon shone so vividly like it was congratulating you.

“i can’t believe it, are you lying to me nishimura?” you pointed a threatening finger at him with questioning eyes.

“why would i lie?” he asked, mundane. his mind was a bit cloudy. he wished he was lying, he wished you wouldn’t take action with your heart. if only you knew the secret jungwon held.

walking in silence, you had your head down looking at your sneakers with a cheek aching smile. a warm fuzzy feeling swallowed your stomach whole. it was nauseating but you asked if it could last forever.

opening the gate to your home, you turned to riki, “thanks nishimura, i owe you.” waving goodbye to him you ran up your stairs and to your door.

riki nodded, to no one in particular but the frown on his lips were seen from a mile away.

“oh wait! your blazer!” you shouted at the boy.

“keep it, it looks better on you.” he shook his head, and you smiled harder, yelling goodnight.

riki fell asleep that night with a bitter taste in his mouth. he wished he could pinpoint the feeling however it only left him with more questions. it’s not like he liked you, well that’s what he kept telling himself.

standing in front of the bike rack, you held a picnic basket in front of you. the sun was hot against your skin and everyone was out with their own people. you had gotten up early in the morning to get ready for the date. you even had it in your calendar. step two is complete!

“yn! sorry, did i keep you waiting?” jungwon called from behind, he looked better in casual attire than in his uniform.

“not at all, i just got here actually.” you lied, you’ve been standing there for thirty minutes checking your watch.

“good, i have a place.” he smiled, taking the basket from your hand. as a duo, you both began to walk alongside one another talking aimlessly. getting closer to the place, it was quiet. a small pond and patches of grass all over with trees making shade.

“i come here often with my dog.” jungwon sits down, placing the basket in front of him.

“i hope you like fruit sandwiches, they were a bit difficult to make.” you laughed as he handed you one. jungwon cracked a smile.

“i bet they’re great,” he breathed out, taking a bite of the strawberry treat.

for a while it was a subtle conversation. getting to know one other more. during school it was just about extracurricular activities or what you thought about the lesson. nothing personal, maybe it was better that way.

“so, when did you and nishimura become friends?” he questioned wiping his lip.

“oh, just recently. i found him in the gym playing basketball and we kind of just started talking from there.” remembering the interaction from a week before, you subconsciously grinned.

“i think he likes you,” jungwon blurted. you stopped from taking another bite into the sandwich. your forehead creased with wonder.

“i mean, i know my best friend and i’ve never seen him smile so much around someone.” the boy continued without seeing your face. you were astonished. no way, maybe jungwon misunderstood. there was no way.

“oh right! i actually wanted to ask you something,” jungwon placed his sandwich down, fetching his phone from his pocket. “what do you think about this gift for my girlfriend?”

everything froze. it felt like multiple punches were thrown at your stomach, one after another. girlfriend? since when did he have a girlfriend? and if he did, why are you here? the cream from the pastry became too sweet, almost disgusting.

“i actually haven’t told anyone about her, except riki, and obviously you.” and one really hard slap to the face. riki knew? and he didn’t think to tell you?

“uhm, the pink one is fine,” you mumbled. this was betrayal, downright betrayal. was he trying to humiliate you? was this what you owed him, humiliation?

“actually jungwon, i’m not feeling too well. i think i should get going.” he looked up from his phone, you began to stand up, possibly to run the hell out of there.

he stood up as well, “do you want me to take you home? are you alright? you look pale,” god why did he have to be so caring.

“no, no, please stay. enjoy the rest of the food.” you tried to smile but the growing hotness of your eyes made it impossible.

turning around, you sped off. your feet moving far too quickly for your brain to process. you pulled your phone out, clicking on riki’s contact.

[ TO: NISHIMURA! ]

why didn’t you tell me jungwon had a girlfriend? i just humiliated myself by going on a date with him.

you shut your phone off, walking along the riverside. the small currents crashed together.

ding!

[ FROM: NISHIMURA! ]

you were excited about the date, i couldn’t tell you.

[ TO: NISHIMURA! ]

so you let me go on a date with him? to embarrass myself? i thought we were friends riki.

for the entire night, you kept your phone far away from you. it was one thing to read the messages, but it was another to think about jungwon.

friends aren’t supposed to let each other down.

BE MY VALENTINE? . . NISHIMURA RIKI!

YOU SWEPT THE CAFETERIA SILENTLY, HUENING KAI RIGHT BESIDE YOU.

“how much do you want?” he asked, sitting down on one of the chairs. his broom sat beside him, he was a horrible duty partner.

“just ask her yourself, i’m not in the mood.” the boy was asking if you could ask minji out to be his valentine to the festival. this was not what you wanted after a ruthless weekend. minji and hyein could only sigh seeing you starfished out on your floor with a frown.

it was the day before the festival and love hanging in the air. you hadn’t spoken to riki after the incident, thinking it was best if you didn’t. sure you felt bad for yelling at him over text, but you would’ve been over the whole jungwon-girlfriend thing by now if he told you prior.

you dragged the broom along the floor, trash littered everywhere and huening kai’s annoying voice in the back.

“please, please, please!”

throwing your head back with a groan, you agreed.

“but ask her out with like flowers or something, i’m not asking her empty handed.” you shrugged taking a seat beside him. he began to go through his wallet to pay you.

“i thought we were the only ones with an agreement,” a familiar voice spoke from in front of you, the person you dreaded to see.

“oh would you look at the time, i’m busy!” huening kai jumped up and before you could drag him back down, he slipped through your fingers.

riki sighed, he took kai’s place. his shoulder brushed yours and your eyes were glued onto your sneakers. riki looked at you. he missed you, those two days were longer than ever.

“i wanted to say i’m sorry. i should’ve told you, but seeing you so happy, i didn’t want to ruin anything. i also thought jungwon was joking about the girlfriend thing, but i guess not.” his hands clenched his sweater into a ball. his foot bounced up and down nervously.

you stayed quiet for a moment. it wasn’t his fault, it wasn’t jungwon’s either. it was nobodies really. that’s just the way things work, you move on.

“it’s okay nishimura, it wasn’t your fault. i shouldn’t have acted the way i did.” you smiled at him, forgiving him. it felt better than being mad at him. it was like a burden weighing down on your shoulders.

“i’m glad we’re friends again.” he added. to you, it felt a bit odd to call him a friend. you felt a bit of a spark with him. you didn’t feel so nervous around him like you did with jungwon. you seeked him out in crowds, instead of jungwon. if you didn’t like jungwon anymore, who was your next candidate?

“wanna go to the festival together? i bought tickets before the whole fiasco.” you chuckled, plucking them from your pocket. you gave one to him as he nodded also with a smile.

“good, i’ll see you there then?i have to finish cleaning up the cafeteria, now that huening left.” you rolled your eyes.

“let me help you, it’s the least i can do.” riki grabbed the other broom.

throughout the duty period there wasn’t much cleaning just you and riki messing around playing with the sticks. his laugh was something you could hear for years and he would say the same.

hyein and minji were around the corner with peeking heads and hyein smirked at minji, “i win.” she whispered.

BE MY VALENTINE? . . NISHIMURA RIKI!

“HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!”

hyein jumped at you, she had cotton candy in her hand. the festival was a success, everyone was having fun with their loved ones. it smelt of sweetness and passion.

you walked through the gates handing your ticket to a booth, jungwon stood inside.

“oh hey! are you feeling better?” he asked, placing your ticket in a box.

“yeah, i think i just had to much sugar, sorry for leaving you. did you get her the pink one?” you cupped your mouth whispering to him.

he smiled nodding. “she loved it,”

smiling as well, you left the booth to meet hyein. she grouped with minji and huening kai. the couple holding hands and minji had a bouquet in her hands. riki nowhere in sight.

“have you guys seen riki?” you asked, glancing around the crowd. did he ditch you?

“i saw him by the ferris wheel.” huening kai pointed to the long line of familiar faces.

“thanks,” you ran over dodging running kids and wandering groups. the ferris wheel was the main event and the heart lights lit up the entire festival.

riki was in line, he was also looking around for you. he was flapping a letter against his hands.

“nishimura!” you called and he waved you over.

“did you get my text? i told you to meet me here.” riki asked, pointing to his phone.

“oh, no i didn’t,” taking your phone out, you looked at the message he sent you.

[ FROM: NISHIMURA! :P ]

meet me at the ferris wheel! i’ll save us a spot :D

you chuckled lowly, looking up at riki. he had a light blush running over his cheeks. he looked away but you still teased him.

“i’m rubbing off on you,” you poked his shoulder. you glanced at the envelope in his hand.

“what’s that?”

riki hid it under his coat, telling you it was for later. you shook your head and the instructor called you next for the ride. riki’s hand rested on the lower part of your back, guiding you.

oh no, what’s this feeling? it was exactly like the feeling you got when you first met jungwon. confused, light, giddy. everything started to make sense. you like nishimura riki, yang jungwon’s best friend.

the sky was colored in a pink and purple hue, an exact replica of your heart. sitting so close to him on the ride made your brain start jumping jacks out of your head.

“this is for you,” he gave you the envelope. it was red and had a single heart on the front with your initial.

“what is it?” your tongue was numb. your fingers shook, this is what having a real crush was like.

“just open it.” he looked away and when you both reached the top of the ride, you heart almost leaped out of your chest.

you opened it, there was a letter, and it read —

Dear Yn,

happy valentines day! i hope you’re reading this, if not, i didn’t have the guts to give you this. but if you are, here goes nothing. i am in love with you. i have loved you since junior high when i first met you on the soccer field after hitting you with a soccer ball and having to carry you to the infirmary. i promised not to hurt you again, physically and emotionally, ( you said you hated me ). i realized after we became closer and you had a plan to date jungwon, that i needed to shoot my shot before i lost you forever. so, this is me shooting my shot. can i be your boyfriend?

Love,

Nishimura Riki.

the huge beam on your lips could easily tear your lips apart. you could feel your senses again, everything fit like a puzzle piece. you were in fact deeply in love with him.

you turned to riki who still had his head to the side. you leaned forward placing a kiss on his cheek.

“i would love it if you were my boyfriend.”

the boy looked at you with big eyes, his lips were parted in shock but they soon curved up into a smile. his hands held your face and he inched closer leaving a peck on your lips.

“happy valentines day, i guess your plan didn’t work.” he teased leaving another kiss, this one longer.

“that’s okay.”

“does this mean i’m your valentine?” riki moved your hair from your face and the ride was coming to an end.

“be my valentine nishimura riki.”

HOW TO DISAPPEAR

☆ — fluff popular boy + quiet girl bookshelf female reader and park sunghoon no warnings 0.6k

authors note, i’ve been going ia a bit cause my brain is like so dead and i was catching up on school which is ending in like 6 weeks ?? but i will try and get more work out!

HOW TO DISAPPEAR

your earbuds hung from your ears as a low melody played from your phone stuffed into your pocket, ignoring the bustling hall with chattering students. their backs shoved you into your locker muttering soft ‘sorrys’ before continuing. you didn’t mind the contact.

your hands searched the depth of your locker for your english book, hoping it’d jump out from the mess of scattered papers and loose pencils. other textbooks and miscellaneous items fell to the floor but you could care less, everyone would just pass by without a second glance.

with furrowed brows and an exhausted groan you flung your arms up yanking your earbuds out of your ears sending your phone to the floor. the clatter was loud along with the rest of your books taking their chance and escaping your locker. as if the day could get any better.

“i should’ve stayed home.” you grumbled crouching down and picking up the fallen novels. your bare knees touched the cold floor sending a shock through your body. it was just the beginning of the morning and you were already crabby.

in the midst of your hushed mumbles and curses slipping through your teeth, you failed to notice the large presence beside you. your arms full of your cubby contents.

his fingers grasped your phone picking it off the floor. his blonde hair covered just enough of his forehead, lips painted with a fresh cherry and his eyes a deep golden brown.

his lips curved into a short smile, he pushed an earbud into his ear pressing play to the song.

‘how to disappear’ lana del ray.

“suits you,” he blurted, startling you. you hadn’t seen or felt his figure looming over you.

“what?” you breathed out.

“is this artist good?” he asked once again, showing you your phone screen. his friends waited around watching him.

you’ve never spoken more than three words to park sunghoon before. the only time you had somewhat of a real conversation was when you tried out for the lead role for juliet in romeo and juliet. he had been chosen as romeo, you found out and ran out as you both approached the kiss scene. since then you’ve found a way around him.

“sure, i don’t know.” you shrugged, throwing your satchel over your shoulder. he smiled, handing you your phone. his fingers still intertwined with the earbuds.

“you were casted as juliet right? for the summer play, you know before you ran off.” he inched closer and you took a step back. his friends were intrigued as they too grew nearer.

you didn’t say anything adjusting your bag out of habit, his eyes were boring into your face. sunghoon was natural at achieving the ‘am i flirting?’ look.

silence took the both of you, your hands holding one end of your phone. your cheeks held a light blush full of fluster. he caught you off guard and he knew it too.

“can i have my phone back?” tugging your device closer he quickly nodded letting go.

“the theater is preparing another play. you’d look good in it, i’ll be the lead role.” he grinned, stuffing his hands into his pockets.

“he’s amazing, you should see him.” one of his friends —you recognized him to be jake from ap physics— smiled as well patting sunghoon’s shoulder.

“no, no boys,” he turned to them, taking a second look at you. “she’s gonna be my partner.”

they chuckled lowly. you stood there in complete confusion. maybe monday’s weren’t your thing.

“i’ll see you, yn.” he raised his brows before turning with the rest of his friends. sunghoon casted one last look at you while he rounded the corner.

shutting your locker you placed the earbuds back in your ear trying to walk off the jitters. you shook your head getting rid of your hot cheeks.

on the other hand, that night sunghoon lay in his bed adding ‘how to disappear’ to his playlist.
