I haven’t seen Joker yet but while everyone’s hype about Joaquin Phoenix the fuckin legend he is, let’s just take a moment to talk about the fact that 10 years ago he fooled literally the entire world besides few that were close to him for several months into thinking he had retired at 35 to start a rapping career, made a spoof documentary about it called I’m still here that was believable, went on David Letterman as That version of himself and then a year and a half later went back on to talk about how it was all a joke and everything... like to know that everyone was looking at you like you were a shit show but really everyone was being fooled by you... that’s iconic

It's so difficult for me to articulate since I'm not great with words nor have I ever studied music, but the lyrics, "Well, there's chocolate, and there's chocolate" sound SO stupid but that's what makes the song so good.

Like, it suits the tone of Wonka and the character himself so well. Wonka's lyrics in songs particularly, apart from the other characters, sound a lot like something a child would just make up on the spot if they were pretending their life was a musical and it's that whimsy that just..gives the soundtrack such personality.

Like is it technically amazing? Is there anything too impressive in it? No, not at all, not that my untrained ears can hear, anyway.

But it's the vibes, dudes. It's the vibes.
