I find it so fascinating that the names for some colours in Urdu are actually just descriptive words. Some examples: - aasmani - sky blue - aasman means sky and ‘i’ is added to make it an adjective just like ‘ly’ or ‘y’ is added to a noun in English - badaami - light brown - badaam means almond (they’re talking about the inside of an almond though) - bangani - purple - bangan means eggplant - gulabi - pink - gulab means rose (this is the ‘official’ word for pink in Urdu)
