I love when my music is crunchy it hits like nothing else

don’t understand anyone who doesn’t love songs full of funky audio effects. when the vocals in an edm track are EQ’d to be a little higher or lower than is natural, brimming with iridescent energy, and it’s like you can feel the sound pressing against you in the back of your mind. distortion so crunchy if you ran your hands over it they’d come back shredded like you just touched electrified sandpaper. reverb that turns piano lines, guitar riffs, and voices to liquid gold. when they do the bit crush thing and you imagine what it would feel like to touch grass in minecraft. please drown me in it. if you aren’t obsessed with this get well soon

the great you/thou post. a quick and dirty guide for characters using archaic/middle english.

speedball samples. i just want to get writing and need to replace all of my you's with thou's!

you are writing a fromsoft character. -> thou are/art writing a fromsoft character.

i follow you on tumblr. -> i follow thee on tumblr.

(all of) you fromsoft roleplayers are so cool. -> ye fromsoft roleplayers are so cool.

A CONSONANT! hollowed be your knight, your humanity come. -> hollowed be thy ✅ knight, thy ✅ humanity come.

A VOWEL! your arcane needs leveling, your endurance is fine. -> thine ✅ arcane needs/needest leveling, thine ✅ endurance is fine.

BONUS ROUND: POSSESSIVE PLACEMENT! your blog -> thy blog. VS. the blog is yours. -> the blog is thine.

just like grammar used to make. i want to get down in the dirt with how these are used!

YOU/THOU: subjective/nominative 2nd person singular pronoun. when YOU indicates the subject, or the active force of a sentence - even if you're asking someone to do something, the YOU in question is the one who could be doing an action. YOU play video games too much; could YOU play fewer games? -> THOU play(est) video games too much; could(st) THOU play fewer games?

YOU/THEE: objective 2nd person singular pronoun. confusing, right? it's when YOU indicates the object, or the thing that is being acted upon in the sentence. normally another pronoun or proper noun will take up the subject slot. i/they/the borg messaged YOU; is it okay to message YOU? -> i/they/the borg messaged THEE; may i/they/the borg message THEE?

✅ if it's acting (including existing), it's thou! if it's being acted upon, it's thee!

(ALL OF) YOU/YE: 2nd person plural pronoun. we really have collapsed the modern 'you' down so neatly; we often don't alter it at all if it's referring to more than one person, unless we're using 'y'all' or 'youse'. if you're familiar with y'all, you can just substitute ye! if not, the YOU refers to more than one person. YOU tumblr users disgust me -> YE tumblr users disgust me. YOU in and of itself is also technically a plural, albeit less formal; you don't have to swap it for ye. THAT FIRST SENTENCE IS JUST AS CORRECT AS THE SECOND IN INFORMAL INSTANCES.

BONUS YE: if you want to get flowery and directly address multiple non-humans, you can swap THE/THOSE/THESE for YE, if 'the' is being used poetically as a form of address - i.e. you wouldnt say this if you're having a conversation with another person, you would still use the/those/these. you effectively have to talk to yourself. THE/THOSE/THESE mountains of my home delight me -> YE mountains of my home, YE bring me much delight!

YOURSELF/THYSELF: reflexive 2nd person singular pronoun. this one is easy. if you are telling a person to do something to themselves, or saying that they have done something to themselves, you use these. change YOURSELF into better armor for this fight; have you seen YOURSELF in that? -> arm THYSELF with more suitable armor; hast thou looked at THYSELF?

YOURSELVES/THYSELVES: reflexive 2nd person plural pronoun. i mention it because i have not seen 'yeselves' used, though it may exist somewhere that i simply haven't come across.

art thou a fancypants? culture thyself. i want to reflect my character's age or class in my writing, when do i use you vs. thou?

the simple answer? it depends on the period you're portraying. the older you are pre-17th century, the more likely thou and its relatives will be used. this is reductive, but it's a good rule of thumb. however, you have to keep class in mind. if your character is speaking to their social better, use 'you'. if they are of equal or lower social standing, use 'thou'.

the more complicated answer? we see you start to phase out thou as old english transitions into middle english, and that's going to vary by region; some say thou was on its way out in the 1300s, but will note its continuation through the 1700s, and people still use it to denote over-the-top formality. but since most of us are writing in fantasy settings that don't directly correlate to real world time periods, you're going to have to make a choice: is my character living in a period before you became more commonplace ( usually tied to social mobility becoming a thing ), and would use thou all the time unless speaking to someone above them? is my character royalty, will they use thou no matter what? is my character in a transitional period and wants to make a point, either by thou-ing everyone ( which could garner some anger ) or you-ing everyone ( which may be seen as too polite to people stuck in the old ways )? it's going to vary, and it's up to you.

these aren't hard and fast rules, and if any of my fellow tumblr linguists or historians want to chime in with their own research ( hiiii ) feel free to do so. but if you've already decided that your character is a thou-thy'er, this guide should get you going.

I have written a little fic about Radahn and an OC before but it is... very much Not Happy (please mind the content warning) so lemme go ahead and write some happy headcanons!

Radahn With An S/O: Headcanons

Cuddles? Hugs? Snuggles? Oh, Radahn has his partner covered; he's a very physically affectionate person, and he'll take any opportunity he can get.

He's not one to be shy about PDA either; he won't go overboard if there are other people around, of course, but he'll still wrap an arm around his partner or hold them close.

(Of course, he'd tome it down if he was asked, though. Partner's comfort and happiness are his number one priority; he wouldn't do anything they're uncomfortable with.)

Kisses from Radahn are full-on, firm but not overly rough; he wraps his arms around his lover's waist, bends or kneels so that he can reach their lips or simply lifts them up in his strong arms, presses their lips together hard enough to take his partner's breath away.

He's a warrior, and honestly, he's gonna wrestle with his partner (affectionately.) Of course, he tones it down depending on his partner's level of strength; he'd never hurt them!

If his partner has any interest in battling, he delights in sparring with them, or depending on their skill level, teaching them magic or swordfighting.

(If they're up for it, he'll make little bets with them: if they win, he'll do whatever they want, and vice versa. It can definitely lead to some fun situations!)

He's very protective. If his partner isn't a fighter themself, he'll do everything he can to keep them safe... even when they don't really need kept safe. (He can't help himself, he just wants them to be okay...)

And if he thinks his partner is in danger, thinks they're in any trouble at all, he's more than ready to go to war for them. Anyone who would harm his love will know the wrath of General Radahn!

(...he can be immediately soothed from these rather dramatic rants by a little kiss on the lips from his partner; he immediately gazes at them with soft eyes, holding them close and kissing their forehead and becoming distracted—)

Even when he's had a long day, he'll pamper his partner, wanting to spoil them in kisses and shoulder rubs as he asks how their day was and how they're doing...

He'll let them reciprocate if they ask, let them take care of him too, but it can take some convincing. He's usually the one taking care of others; being taken care of takes some getting used to!

...however... he does really, really like having his long red locks played with, brushed, and braided. He could easily be lulled to sleep solely by his partner's fingers stroking through his hair.

He's grateful for them; always grateful. He's very vocal about his love for his partner, telling them he loves them multiple times a day, always doing so before they go to sleep at night.

One of his favourite things is to go horse riding with his partner; their arms wrapped around his frame as they ride through the more scenic areas of the Lands Between.

Getting married to Radahn would be a spectacle. The entirety of Redmane Castle would be decorated in its finest, so many people invited to take part in the celebration; he would make sure his partner had whatever they wanted, could wear whatever they wanted, the works.

Speaking of celebrations; this man can absolutely party, and party hard. He can drink most people under the table and heartily laugh it off as though it's nothing.

...drunk Radahn is absolutely adorable though; extra cuddly, even more full of jokes than usual, slurring his way through telling the nearest person how much he adores his partner.

If he and his partner have or adopt a child... he's going to want to name said child Leonard if it's a boy or Leona if it's a girl, honestly. He's not unreasonable though, it can be discussed, but... it's definitely something he'd like a lot.

In general, Radahn's a fun and good-natured person, and this extends into his romantic relationships too; he'll always delight in making the one he loves smile, because there's no sight more beautiful to him.

They'll always be taken care of, always have everything they could ask for, and always be his priority; they won't go feeling unloved.

And thanks to their actions, their kindness, their affection and their genuine love... he feels more loved than he's ever felt before in his long life, too.
