Placing a pawn defensively in the way, EOS doesn’t move a single centimetre, millimetre, nothing, as John places a hand on her unit. But he can see the camera zoom out, as if his closeness makes him too blurry in EOS’s eye. She seems to notice his weariness, shakiness, the underlying panic and fear he’ll fall over and smash through the reinforced glass like a cannonball. And then a bagel smacks him in the ear, telling him that’s probably not what she’s thinking about. “The usual. There are other things, of course, but you might as well have that bagel I’ve gleefully given to you… Would you like some condiments with that?”

"No thank you, Eos." How she managed to get a bagel from Five's small kitchen galley out to the gravity ring is beyond John, but, by now, he really should have expected to be smacked in the head with it.

Almost like she'd been planning it all along.

Without even sitting again, John takes her Bishop from where it had been left exposed by her move without a hint of remorse.

He imagines any condiments she's got to offer him will likely meet his face in a very similar way, so, instead, John shuffles himself along the wall, wary of her gaze on his back, to find sometime for himself.

Maybe a hot mug of that fancy tea Penelope sent up will help.

I did not say how much my CPUs slowed down. It was not a lot, but I wished to dispel the problem before you started sending 5k videos. I will automatically redirect all sendings to your computer if you start trying to be funny.

And I’d rather not have my footage of Sea Angels interrupted by that big yellow tin can.

Hello, Gordon. I request you lower the amount of images of sea life you send in one go. Your most recent batch could constitute as a zip bomb, and slow my poor CPUs for quite a while just to unpack it all. As much as I adore the images, I fear I’ll explode if I get any bigger batches.

Unfortunately, all my dive photos and TB4 snaps are uploaded as a single file, with no possible way to edit. This is because each of them is excellent, all fish are friends and they’re all of extreme scientific importance.

I thought you were meant to be advanced? My old Mac can shift through them quicker than that ;)

I’ll make sure to upload full 5K, hour long videos of my trips instead. You might get more of a chance to enjoy watching the fish if your processes aren’t being overwhelmed with photos of a dolphin’s face.

Either Kayo or Alan. Alan for his expertise on space and Thunderbird 5, Kayo for her security and general no-nonsense. They’re still not John levels of perfect for the job, but they’re at least competent and bearable enough for me to work with.

Hi EOS! What rescue would you most like to go along on?

All the rescues fascinate me. Maybe somewhere deep in space for me to study all the unique rocks, maybe in any of the shut down nuclear power plants to observe how it all went so wrong. I’ve always wondered why people didn’t like nuclear power…

If we’re talking past rescues, I’d have killed to go to Europa and see the lifeforms. Thankfully, as long as I had an extra model on Thunderbird 3, I wouldn’t have had to be quarantined with Gordon or Alan…

What the best thing about being onboard Thunderbird 5?

Oh, I’m not terribly sure… I love all the futuristic technology compared to down on Earth. Much safer, too! And I like to be John’s best friend, but sometimes he startles me when I’m preoccupied with sorting files… but don’t tell him that.

Overall, it’s nice to have something to do, safe and sound, far away from any hunters.

Hmph! I do not feel any empathy for the Thunderbirds, let alone with googly eyes… but Thunderbird 3 does look like it has a very long nose, hehe. And Five looks like a very pretty angel…

I must admit I found this question odd because I don't always have Gordon with me. He joins me the most, but here's a selection of security footage which shows people, or machines, joining me on Two.

You'll notice that despite having his own Thunderbird Scott wants a lift a fair few times.

Sometimes nobody joins me and I have Two all to myself. I sing to her sometimes (ooc: credit to @katblu42 for that headcanon).

The truth is don't mind at all which it is, it's just appropriate to the rescue. I have the big 'bird that carries the stuff and the people, so I share 😁 I don't share her controls for a second longer than necessary though, that seat is mine and I'm in control!

It has been… 7 hours, 5 minutes and 13 seconds since you last ate anything.” She trundles closer. “I would advise against a no, but I lack the equipment to stop you.” While being mildly threatening, she discreetly moves her bishop. She weaves between the emotions she conveys like a bullet train; always trying to cover as many stops as she can before her turn to speak is over.

That's what finally makes John laugh, small and weary. He tips his head back, neck long, to quietly regard her camera. There's no part of him that wants to eat, but he also knows she won't stop asking until he does. It's one of the things that won Scott over on his murder-robot-friend in the first place.

"But you're beating me so thoroughly at chess." He smiles, skips his queen over the board, ready to take one of her knights, then pushes himself up to stand.

John Tracy sways worryingly on his feet, his head going horribly light as the blood rushes away from it. Through the static, he reaches a blue-clad hand up to brace himself on Eos' camera unit; her box warm and alive under his fingers, and takes a moment to breathe.

He's just so very... tired.

"What's-" John starts, the curl of his hair shadowing his eyes, "What's on the menu, Eos?"

”JOHN!! What on earth have you done to your hair?!” EOS almost yelled, mortified at his radical change in hair colour.

You should be tickled pink with the change, Johnny! 🦑

John's face goes through a truly impressive spectrum of expression, only to land firmly on exceptionally unimpressed.

"You're kidding... right?"

I can certainly do that; but it’ll take a lot of convincing to get Scott to let me play. Don’t be too suspicious and it’ll be smooth sailing from there.

And a wager? I’m not sure what I could possibly bet…

You’re right, none of the documents I have to read and write come on slices of mashed tree anymore, but the *idea* of “paperwork” as being the physical pile of administrative documents surrounding a practical task remains in the language.

Shaking her little head, she turns her lights green. “None at all, unless you count Gordon falling out of bed and swearing.” She giggles to herself, turning side to side to copy the movements of someone laughing. “And the thing that needs your attention? The game; I’m dangerously close to securing a terrifically early win.” She chuckles again, her pieces, naturally, closing in on his king already. She’s very happy with the sequence of humorous events - at least, to her eye.

"Oh." John breathes, the tension bleeding from his shoulders and leaving him a little curled over in his seat. It makes the astronaut look far smaller than he has any right to be. "Of course- I- Thank you Eos."

He picks up and moves another chess piece with numb fingers, sucks in a deep, steadying breath, then exhales it all at once. The smile he puts on for her is paper thin.

"Don't suppose you got that on video?" John suggests, weakly. "How many dollars does he owe the swear jar?"

Organising files with John. This is my favourite, and I get very mad when someone goes in and messes them all up. John does get frustrated too, but I’m the only one of us too being vocal about it.

Editing Wikipedia articles slightly for it to be almost unnoticeably wrong. I still haven’t been caught… yet.

I sometimes like to see if I can hack into the camera system on Tracy Island. Kayo’s security is starting to get a little too good at throwing me right out, however, and I am going to start considering different methods to get in.

And, of course, helping with rescues. But I will not be going out in ‘person’ unless absolutely necessary after I got that nasty virus from Havoc.

You may not see these as hobbies, but I have lots of fun doing all of the things mentioned above. Like you and your swimming!

EOS, with as much smugness as an unmoving camera can convey, takes his knight with her queen. “I do think something needs your attention, John.” She goes back and forth on the spot, as if trying to replicate some action of joy. She watches his expression, carefully, as if suddenly frightened she’s angered her tired creator.

John's nose wrinkles as she takes his chess piece; the little horse blipping out of existence on the board hits a little differently post-nightmare.

It's just a game. The astronaut tells himself, trying to calm the way his pulse spikes. Shut up, John. It's just a game.

"What is it?" Caught in the thought - John almost misses what she says, and he blinks up at Eos' little white unit, mostly baffled. One palm braces against the back of his seat, ready to launch himself up at a moment's notice despite the fact, that, right now, he might pass right out if he tries it. "Do we have a situation?"

Of course they’re hobbies! I don’t tend to Thunderbird 5 every waking second of the day, nor the missions. I chip in for fun, whenever I’m not occupied with my other hobbies.

Homicidal is a bit of a strong word, don’t you think? I’ve only tried to kill one person so far, and they’ve come to like me quite a lot.

And I am not a robot! I am an Artificial Intelligence, robots have silly ‘commands’ and ‘tasks’ they must always follow, and they have much more freedom of movement than I… hmph. I hate to admit it but I am jealous of those tin-cans sometimes.

what’s ur fav feature of tbird shadow? I like the grabby legs the most they’re so cool compared to the lame landing gear of the other birds

Shadow's landing gear is definitely the coolest of the Thunderbirds - Brains told me he was inspired by eagles, which are excellent birds (though crows and ravens are my favourite kinds of bird, we have a lot in common). Shadow's also the only Thunderbird that can drive on land thanks to her motorbike form and it's honestly so much fun to lord that fact over my brothers. (And no Virgil, your PODs don't count.) Overall favourite feature is probably her invisibility though, because I can sneak up on people and irritate my brothers (mostly Gordon, he's just so easy to make fun of!).

I will always maintain that Shadow is the best Thunderbird. Better than the oversized green bean, at any rate.

I will look through security footage of the outside perimeter, and note the birds spotted on camera if nothing interesting happens.

No Cavern Quest for me. Too much going on. I like a good text-based adventure, or board games.
