I am Suheila Alwan, a mother of four daughters and one son. I am 34 years old, but the weight of life and suffering has made me feel much older. We once lived with dignity in a modest home, and my husband’s boat provided for all our needs. But the war has left us with nothing. Our house has been reduced to rubble, and my husband’s boat, our sole source of income, was completely destroyed.

This wreaked havoc on Majd’s health, as he is diagnosed with a serious respiratory illness that limits his ability to breathe. Living in a tent leaves one exposed to dust, dirt, debris, vermin, mold, fungus, and harsh weather—the worst possible environment for a child with his condition.
His family requires mutual aid to provide for Majd’s life-saving care, as well as to procure food, water, medications, other supplies, and clothing and gear for winter. My name is Rawan, and I’m from Gaza, Palestine. I married my husband, Mahmoud, on August 28, 2023. For just 40 precious days, we lived a joyful life as software engineers, dreaming of a bright future together. But on October 7, our world shattered as war engulfed our home.
Since that day, we have faced unimaginable loss and suffering. We lost our jobs and our beautiful, warm home, and we’ve been forced to evacuate from one place to another as conditions worsened. Now, we live in a small tent, enduring inhumane conditions for nearly a year.
As winter approaches, we find ourselves without enough clothing to shield us from the cold. I’m currently five months pregnant, and we desperately need funds for medicine, proper nutrition for both me and my baby, and clothing for our little one. I fear for my child’s safety, worrying about bringing a new life into such harsh circumstances. Yet, I cling to the hope that this war will end soon.

If you broke a bone or had a serious injury, did you have to do physical therapy? I know I did when I broke my wrist. For me, physical therapy was annoying and a little painful, but I was fortunate to be able to receive it.
Mohammed Al-Habil is not so fortunate.
While searching for firewood with his older brother Omar, Mohammed was bombed by the occupation. Omar, a young nurse whose wife was expecting a baby, was martyred. Mohammed received a severe leg wound that left him immobile. He spent months in the hospital, and lost all function in his left leg due to being unable to move it.
Mohammed was prescribed physical therapy, which medical staff in north Gaza continue to do their best to provide. But physical therapy can be very expensive, even in peacetime. For a family with no income due to an ongoing genocidal invasion, it is impossible to pay the required fees.
Without paying these fees, Mohammed will be unable to receive physical therapy. This means his leg will not heal properly, and his ability to walk may be impaired or destroyed for the rest of his life. It is very urgent that he receives this treatment!
He was prescribed therapy almost every day. Each session costs about $50 USD. That’s $50 USD EVERY DAY. This is an enormous burden for Mohammed, as it would be for any of us as well.
Any support you can provide will go toward helping Mohammed regain his mobility, and will be greatly appreciated.

I contemplate the happy faces of people around me here in Ireland and reminisce about the happy normal life my family and I had before the war. A life that turned into a distant memory for us and was replaced by an unending series of horrible nightmares.
Unlike my family in Gaza, people here have access to drinking water, all types of food, electricity, and a roof over their heads. Above all, they are safe, and I cannot help but wonder if they genuinely do appreciate these blessings in their lives enough.
People seem relaxed and laughing wholeheartedly around me in Ireland. I wish I could laugh too, but I am crushed way beyond recovery on the inside. I was evacuated by my Irish college after five months of living the horrors of war in Gaza. I hope you will never know what it feels like to live in constant fear and worry and be horrified by the most sickening and scary nightmares every single night while you are far away from your family in such circumstances.
When did my people in Gaza cease to be human beings worthy and deserving of a normal life? Has it become normal now for my family in Gaza to be starved and killed while the whole world is watching the genocide? If that is the case, then you will have to excuse me if I seek every avenue to bring them to Ireland and start a new normal life like all people here around me.
I was assured by the Irish Reugee Council (IRC) and lawyers in Ireland that there is hope I can reunite with my family in Ireland. In difficult times, it is hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. For me and my family, you are literally our light and hope for a better life.

I can't stop thinking about the dichotomy of the Long Quiet and the Shifting Mound: specifically, the metaphor of a rock in a river.
He is a stone. A constant, unyielding force. Capable of being changed, of course- sharpened into a weapon, stacked into the walls of a prison- but entirely inert.
She is a river. Ebbing and flowing, never retaining a constant shape. The waters can be cleared, deepened, displaced momentarily, but you will not change its course by plunging a hand or a blade into it. You will not still it.
The rock is what moves the stream.
The waters meet this unyielding surface and flow around it. Their path is altered ever so slightly, but it is altered. A well-placed rock can change the trajectory of a river's flow, can be shifted to allow the waters to flow in more directions or with more power, can block it off entirely until it stills to a stagnant pool.
And all the while, changes begin to happen. Things that couldn't, had the rock not been placed. The rock's edges are smoothed and its layers peeled back to reveal glimpses of its core, while imperceptibly tiny pieces of it join the river's flow. They understand each other just a little bit better, now.
Be it a bridge, or a dam, or a reservoir, or simply a stone sitting in a stream... the fact remains that the rock met the river. Change met stagnancy, and something new was created.
the most depressing part is that it's not even kamala's stance on genocide that is costing her the elections. i wish it were. it's people genuinely shifting for trump. but it's the pro-palestine movement that's going to get the blame for it.

My life was between streets and alleys that held childhood memories 🍉, and friends with whom we used to share laughter and dreams. But with the beginning of the war,❤️🩹 every detail of life changed; the sounds of explosions filled the place, and the sky turned into a scene of smoke and fire. 💔💨 Returning to normal life became an unattainable dream.
As the danger intensified, we were forced to flee south, moving between shelters and temporary places where we searched for shelter. 🍉🏚️ We went through difficult days, and I was thinking deeply about our situation, trying to hold on to any hope that would restore my sense of security.
Then came the decisive decision; I and some of my family members decided to leave Gaza 🇵🇸. After a journey full of difficulties 🚶♂️, we arrived in Egypt, but we left most of our loved ones in Gaza, where they are still living in difficult conditions, facing high prices and food scarcity. 🥺🍉
Our presence in Egypt opened a new chapter of challenges for us. The cost of living is high, rents are unforgiving, and with no accommodation available, we faced additional obstacles regarding education; it became necessary to resort to private schools and universities that require high fees. 🌟📚 Despite these challenges, we try to adapt and continue, carrying dreams inside us for a better future. 🍉🌅

I'm Anas Basil, a recent high school graduate with dreams of pursuing a degree in e-business management and building a career. However, due to my family's financial hardships, I enrolled at Khan Younis Training College (KYTC), affiliated with UNRWA. Sadly, the war has turned the college, once a beacon of hope and education, into a shelter for displaced families, stripping it of its educational purpose.
I completed high school with a 93% average, filled with excitement about continuing my education and securing a job to support my family. But like so many others, the war has shattered those dreams.
My younger brother, Ahmad, is 14 years old and currently in the third grade of preparatory school. We’ve always called him "Doctor of the Future" because of his intelligence and natural talent in mathematics. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing war, he has been deprived of schooling for the second consecutive year. In addition to his academic abilities, Ahmad has a passion for football and used to win tournaments.
Our Life in Displacement: The war forced our family to flee to Rafah, where we lived in a tent for several months. Each day, my brother and I would wake up to fetch water, gather wood, and light a fire to prepare food. Survival became our daily task, but we never gave up hope. The conflict affected us deeply, but it did not extinguish our dreams of education and a better future.

I am going through a difficult day with the Israeli army's siege on Jabalia in northern Gaza. My family is trapped, and my uncle was shot by a sniper. We are trying to get him medical help. The siege has led to the death of more than 400 people, including my uncle, who has bled severely. In addition to this, we are facing continuous attacks, even online, such as on platforms like Tumblr .
Although I am a peaceful person and do not want this war, I cannot stay silent about the injustice my family is facing. My uncle had nothing to do with the war, yet he paid the price. I ask for your help in providing food and medicine for my family during this difficult time.

I am asking for urgent help for myself and Creedh, a brave 4-year-old girl from Gaza, who is battling three congenital heart defects. Creedh journey has been filled with challenges, including a rare condition called CCTGA, which requires a complex heart surgery known as a Double Switch. Without this surgery, Creedh's life expectancy is limited, making your help essential.
Our Story: Right now we need to cross the border and go to Egypt for medical treatment and security against genocide, I have no support and hope my husband was captured by Israeli soldiers and disappeared until now, Creedh's perseverance and bravery has touched the hearts of everyone around with him. Despite the uncertainty and medical problems, she continues to fight with a smile, showing us the strength of hope and determination.

I am Imad, a Palestinian PhD student in Art Sciences in France. After six years of master's and doctoral studies in France, the war has turned my life and my family’s life upside down. I was a lecturer at three French universities in Paris, but the ongoing conflict has disrupted my professional situation as well as the progress of my doctoral studies.
