So, not only did this land on me, but then I got shit-canned today. (For something I didn't do wrong, no less!) I've filed for unemployment and made an appointment with an attorney, and this isn't too big a surprise because I just asked for ADA accommodations last month and they've been gunning for me since last year when I complained about an unhinged supervisor.

Anyway, though, until I'm able to either find other employment or get unemployment or something, I am kind of up against a wall.

These eggs are the last brood of my life cycle. My husband has risked his life to carve out an existence for us on the only planet that is hospitable to our species. We fought too hard and suffered too much to resign ourselves to the extinction of our family line.

One thing I don’t like doing is “callout” posts for fandoms I enjoy, but I’ve noticed that a lot of the Zukka content (And again, that’s a ship that I enjoy.) seems to focus on Sokka defending and uplifting Zuko and being horrified by Zuko’s unhappy past and, while that is great stuff, it unfortunately follows the trend of having brown characters fall over themselves to comfort and avenge lighter-skinned characters. I’m not saying we shouldn’t have Sokka do that, but maybe we could have Zuko reciprocate more. Sokka has a sad past, too. Zuko should protect and defend and comfort him.

The rest of the Fire Nation nobility is really condescending and rude to Sokka at the end of the series; Zuko blows up at someone for calling Sokka out of name, calling him a peasant, treating him like anything less than the brilliant strategist he is.

Zuko personally redesigns Sokka’s quarters so that he can see the moon in any room.

Zuko, with Katara’s help, searches and searches for any record from the Southern Raiders of what exactly Sokka’s mother looks like, and if he manages to find something, he gets a portrait made for Sokka to keep wherever. (If he doesn’t manage to find anything, he still gets a portrait made, just with WAY more help from Katara.)

Zuko atones for having burned down Kyoshi Island. (This is more for Suki than for Sokka, but still.) He does so much volunteer work on that island and gives them so many royal resources.
