amid the celebrations about the queen probably dying soon, we need to remember how this will negatively affect the country. there will be millions spent on a funeral and charles’s coronation while we are in the middle of a severe economic crisis and working class families are having to choose between heating and food. it will take attention away from all the important politics and parliament may be suspended. all news and television will be about her death and her reign — it’s been said that comedy programmes will be cancelled for potentially up to a fortnight out of ‘respect’.
yes, celebrate this news. but her death does not erase the fact that the monarchy exists, and it will be a spit in the face for working people when the money we all so desperately need is spent on her and the rest of her family
I barely have followers here, but here we go:
The Amazon Rainforest has been burning for the last 16 days straight. The Brazilian government says the wildfire is caused by the winter itself, since it doesn't rain a lot there... in a rainforest. It is actually, partially true. Winter is indeed a dry season and wildfires may happen, specially close to the Cerrado (a brazilian biome similar to the african Savanna), but what they're not telling us is that:
The deforestation has increased 80% since last year
The native peoples and animals are being slaughtered for their lands (legally protected green areas)
The government is hiding and lying about scientific data, saying that environmentalists and NGOs are communists trying to destroy the nation. They are brainwashing people to think that sustainability is terrible for the economy
Our Minister of Environment is couldn't care less about the environment and is only there to support the livestock producers and give them what they want. The President and his Minister won't put a single dollar on environmental safety
The wildfires are just so huge that its black smoke and ashes reached the skies of São Paulo, a state over 2.000 kilometers away from the Amazon.
I could just keep going all night about how our environment is being threatened by this new government. We need every single help we can possibly can.
Please don't let this go unseen. Search for yourself, talk to people about it, make noise, be angry and be scared. Let the world know about it and demand action. This is not about Brazil, is about the planet. The Amazon Rainforest is one of the most important biomes in the world, being responsible for the climate, rains, biodiversity, carbon sequestration and life itself.
THE GIFT IS THE GAY
Nico: I think I finally understand why everyone who was considered "gifted" in preschool is now gay
Nico: The gift is the gay. We're the chosen one. We're humanities saving grace
Oh. My. Zeus.

Hey! Welcome to the development blog for Catlia, an upcoming pet site with a fantasy theme and a variety of species to collect.
In a parallel universe, a magical cat monarchy has been established on the moon. Without humans catering to their every whim, the cats were in grave peril - until they discovered they could harness the power of the moon to perform magic. With their newfound abilities, they have been slowly catnapping different animal species from Earth over the years, but haven’t collected enough mana to transport humans yet - it is suspected that humans’ complex thoughts make them more difficult to move.
There’s plenty to do in the meantime, at least! Your life as an ordinary cat on the outskirts of Catlia has taken a strange turn after you decide to finally visit the kingdom. After a brush with death (well, after tripping and landing in a puddle), you find that your rescuer is none other than Mocha, the kingdom’s prince.
While you dry off in the sunshine, Mocha chatters excitedly about what Catlia has to offer:
Pets which can be dressed up
Discovering new items/pets through alchemy
Magical potions that may attract rare species
Quests with special rewards
Daily events and rewards
Random chance shops/Shops with set stock
…and probably other things, but alas. Mocha regretfully explains that he must attend to his royal duties, and wishes you luck.
If you’d like to receive an email once the site’s released, please feel free to subscribe at catlia.net!
I’ve been listening to an awesome podcast on Spotify, explaining classic Greek and Roman myths in more depth! It’s really good, and I definitely recommend <3
I W A N T R I C K T O H E A R Y O U R B R I T I S H A C C E N T

Wdym I don't have the right profile
AND a race one since the most affected regions will be Africa, Asia and Oceania
Please remember that every small step you take each day counts for something, and running several miles in one day won't help you reach your destination any faster. It will only make you too exhausted and aching to walk for the following days.
You're doing alright despite whatever you're going through. Living is enough.
Edit: Thank you guys so much for making this post have the most hearts I've ever gotten on this blog. Keep spreading positivity. I love you.

Ah, the gap between intent and action, the “now self” vs. the “later self,” or morning guy vs. night guy:
We all know our tendency to opt for immediate rewards even when (especially when?!) it doesn’t align with long-term goals. We put off exercise. Date people we shouldn’t. Watch shows instead of work.
As a researcher interested in all things human behavior, this got me thinking. The internet (more specifically, Tumblr) is the perfect place for us to more deeply understand why we behave in ways that don’t make us happy. Tumblr sees a future where social platforms aren’t designed to exploit our tendency to seek immediate rewards. So I approached them with a question:
What if we could ‘nudge’ our decisions to reflect a version of ourselves that brings us happiness in both the short and long-term?
Enter Benevolent Hellsite.
Welcome to an exploration and investigation of happiness and human behavior online. This blog is a staff-affiliated, independent research project designed to start a conversation.
The end goal?
Create real features on Tumblr meant to increase short and long-term happiness, informed by YOU—Tumblr users—and the science of human behavior.
What to expect from this blog:
1. Open discussions about how our behavior online leads to (or takes away from) our happiness
2. Prototypes of new features based on your responses
‘Happiness’ looks different for everyone, so…
Or share your thoughts in the replies: How does time spent on Tumblr influence your happiness?
